That's what i mean, in LoL some heroes are clearly better than others and the game is attempted to be balanced by nerfs. In Dota the game is balanced by power creep, where every hero is insanely strong at what they do. I've heard a majority of heroes don't even use mana. It's a power bar or something? How does this balance with the rest of the game? Is there an over abundance of heroes able to use abilities willy nilly or are you saying some use mana, and others don't, ala WoW where there is rage/mana/energy? Elaborate further please. 20 champions in the game currently don't use mana, 5 cast with their health instead(most of them % of their health),5 use energy which has a value of 200 and can't be increased and has 10 energy regen per second which prevents you from spamming abilities, other 10 have no costs on their abilities. Note that majority of manaless champions are currently weak and not viable. You don't lose gold? Is there no penalty to death then allowing for more aggressive gameplay? Other than not being present for a team fight, how does a death effect you? Aside from giving exp and gold, there is no penality for death. You also give less gold and exp the more levels you are below your opponent and even less if you already died a lot, mainly to counter trolls. Again, elaborate further for me please. I know your version of Roshan or whatever it's called is different. I don't think it gives an item that grants a free respawn IIRC. Both sides of the jungle have a blue buff(gives cooldown reduction and mana/energy regenration) and red buff(slows and deals a small amount of damage over time) and they transfer on death. There is a summoner spell called Smite to secure/steal buffs. Also there are a ton of jungle only items that will eventually make killing monsters pathetically easy and give you bonuses depending on which item you built. The mini boss monster Dragon gives global gold and exp, and boss monster Baron Nashor gives global health and mana regen, AD and AP which gives your team a huge advantage during teamfights, but it's lost on death with no transfer. There are 2 type of junglers, one that will gank every single minute of the game, or the one that will AFK farm their Feral Flame jungle item for 30 minutes to get damage per jungle monster kill from it. Highly debatable. I've had many friends come to DOTA because of their experience with other players on LoL. Now I'm not saying DOTA is an entirely friendly atmosphere, but I'm just saying this is more opinionated then fact. Ignoring the playerbase (which is **** because LoL has been free to play for much longer than Dota or other MOBA games so all the kids went there), in my opinion LoL is way more newbie friendly. First of all you are not forced to learn 100+ heroes because they are all free, you only get 10 free ones at start and the few you will buy, so you will learn how to play against them after multiple games. Death is not as punishable as in Dota, turrets are way more dangerous early game and Riot has been doing their best to remove snowball from the game(which was a terrible decision because it makes playing ranked so frustrating). Also Riot interacts with the community more, gives tips and tricks to players, plays with them, etc... Indulge me please. I like to do my research before investing time with a new game I may potentially play for a length of time. Well there are runes, which you shouldn't touch until level 20, and hopefully by then they will be removed from the game. Summoners Spells are also a big difference, you can pick 2 and then use them through the game along your heroes spells. Roles are different from Dota, the support/healer in this game is actually the least dangerous treat and should always be focused last as opposed to Dota where the healer is usually to be killed instantly(or so i heard?). |
Thank you for the feedback. I'll probably give LoL a go later this evening. :)

Anyone tried the new hexakill mode yet? Tried it myself about 6 times or so and it's quite fun! As expected champs with resets(or any assassin) are pretty much OP in this mode. Immobile mages are kinda weak as the game is constant ganking. Here is my most successful match thus far.:

Played a game of ranked earlier. I went 20/4/2 on zed. Had most gold on both teams but ever other person lost. I easily shut down their mid lane. But after Cane got stacks we couldn't win at all.
http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1603542617/42488348 Just can't carry that :( I got FB, First tower and a 10 kill streak. But soraka could use ult and full heal most of the team. |
Hexakill is pretty fun! I've been kicking some butt on it with Kennen, so he seems like a good choice. Magic users and range champions reign supreme in there, so I'm very tempted to just go Galio and tank everything.
In the first match I played, the enemy Katarina actually managed to get a hexakill. Needless to say, we lost. |
If Katarina and Fiora are disabled from Hexakill, then it could be fun. In all 4 games i played so far there was either a Kat or Fiora on both teams (i also won all 4 teams, though i just had to disable the enemy Kat/Fiora at the right time, nothing special)
|
so I've played 3 hexakill games, 1 as Hecarim, 1 as AP Tryndamere, and the other as NIdalee and I've won all 3. AP Tryndamere is such a troll, when people thing you're dead, you activate your ult, so near the end they ignite you, nope, Witchcap active. and if that wasnt enough, the rage you gain from using your ultimate can be used to heal you for near as makes no difference 1000 hp.I havent laughed so hard in a long while, they're all to focused on me to notice that my team are killing them lol

First game against actual people after the tutorials and bot matches. I think I did pretty well!!
http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-history/NA/37026924 Game is different yet pretty similar to DOTA. I dunno if I'll make the full switch, but I'll def pay LoL here and there now. Also, Wukong is pretty sexy. Too bad I gotta save up a lot of shizzle to get him x.x |

Ah the good old times when i mained top lane Wukong and Olaf.
You can just stand still as Wukong at higher level matches and people assume you used your W xD |

Okay, after a rager managed to turn my entire team against me, I think I'm taking a little break from LoL. he somehow managed to convince my team that every mistake everyone made was my fault because I wasn't there to support them. I was trying out Sivir ADC (which would be a lot better if every one of your abilities didn't cost a crap ton of mana), so I was mainly sticking to bot lane.
Once we took the tower, I roamed mid to try to push there a bit. After staying a bit and bringing the tower down to half health, the Veigar on my team started flipping out on me for taking all of the cs and experience (even though I was deliberately missing most of the cs to avoid that problem), and commanded me to go to bot lane where I should be. So, I went bottom and took the second tower. While taking the second tower, mid got ganked and I was too far away to do anything about it, so I stayed in lane. The rager (who is 0/6/0, mind you) flips out on me and says that I was losing bot lane and should be roaming because we had taken both turrets without losing a single one. I ping dragon, since everyone was up at this point and all lanes were pushed, but no one responded. Once all the lanes were pushed, that's when everyone decided to go for dragon. We inevitably lost that fight, seeing as our jungler (the rager) fed the enemy Khazix like crazy, which lead us to losing dragon. The rager instantly yells at me for not doing anything while the enemy team attacked and told everyone to report me after the game for being unskilled. My entire team except for my support agreed and turned on me. I was legitimately doing everything I could to attack the enemy and fend them off, but it wasn't enough when the enemy team has a champion four levels higher than you. I just tried to do my best from there on out, but no one yelled at the Rengar who jumped into the entire enemy team and died instantly, but rather yelled at me for letting him die while I just stood there and watched. I was still trying to get to the location, let alone trying to help. I just... ugh. |
Aw don't worry about it. :( I've been in your shoes as well. There's not much you can do other than ignore / prove you're being much more useful than them.
From the looks of it though, you were doing pretty great overall so you should feel proud of yourself for that. You'll always get ragers/feeders and there's not much you can do about it. They were probably already angry for losing their lane/playing badly and needed someone to lash out at. People hate admitting that they've done bad after all and try to put the blame on others. Though honestly, that was uncalled for. I'm glad your support didn't do anything to you but I guess the rest of your team wasn't so bright. ;v; Also here's your typical 'what champ should I get' sort of question incoming. I've got 4800 IP now after spamming Hexakill with tons of #teamkata vs #teamtalon, too many bush ganks, dem assassins, hailing bird jesus, ziggs snipes, flying trees and lots of chaos. But back on topic, what do you guys think would be a nice pick up next? I'm thinking someone that's more useful to the team than just a 'lol carry 1 v 5' sort of guy. Either jungle/support/top would be fine. So like Maokai, I guess? Though Volibear looks good as well. Or maybe even picking up a mage like Ahri or Orianna. hmm ;__; |
/mute all
the best command in the game I'm close to 4800 IP and i have no idea who i should get. Ahri? Fizz? Yorick for giggles? Wukong? Save for Aatrox or Vel'koz? Idk |

Ori and Ahri are great picks. Ori is almost every midlaners default champion if his/her are banned/picked. She fits pretty much in any comp and is always viable. With Ahri it's really easy to stomp if you can do well with skillshots. Exhaust/Ignite pretty much counter Volibear and in many metas(like a meta where there are many champions that can kite) he is screwed. Maokai is great at the moment. Good pick-up, but I think there will be nerf in the near future for him. |

Also guys if you don't know, the updated summoner's rift is coming to live soon! It'll only be available in team builder and intro bots at first to avoid straining the server or something but it's finally almost here! |

arghhh now I have to choose who to play :( I'll decide later but thanks for all the tips and advice!
@ SR update: I honestly thought of that as well, it's so... medieval. ;__; It's kinda cool but I liked the old but new at the same time sort of feeling from old SR. idk I feel like they're trying to turn LoL on its head with all the champ/visual updates. :( But, I digress. Anyway the icon hype train was always real. New gamemode? Eh, I might give it a go. New gamemode offered with an icon? HECK YEAH LETS GO /cue yoloswegging |
Just picked up LB c: Had fun with her when I tested her, but she is really difficult/requires way too much thinking for me. I'll probably try her out some more though because she is insanely fun and I need to expand my champ pool some :s
|
I have over 16000 IP. =(
Just... what do I do with it? |

Save it for the next champ imo. Rumor has it that she is an adc named Kalista that throws spears. Sounds really cool. It's unconfirmed but the leaker is very reliable. He was the same guy who leaked URF and VelKoz! |
Welp, just tried playing two PvP games to get some practice. I snowballed my lane pretty hard (especially in my Renekton vs Darius matchup which I've fully gotten used to) and was 4/0 by the nine minute mark. However, their enemy Shaco was making a bigger impact and was 7/0 along with a fed Akali. So yeah, I guess you can say that the game didn't turn out too well. ;__; I ended 15/5/16 with me having the majority of the kills and the only thing stopping my team from ff'ing. But yeah, it wouldn't be fair to blame only my team. I'm sure I played a pretty big part in our downfall as well since I didn't really roam or do anything until the snowball was almost a mountain. :(
I wasn't even upset we lost. I was just annoyed with the Vayne and TF on my team who insisted on being absolute jerkholes and ragers. If there's one thing I hate about LoL, it'd be how douchey the community can be at times. In a ranked, maybe I'd understand why they'd be upset. But a normal? You win some, you lose some. Calling people noobs, ridiculing their plays and making them feel stupid isn't gonna help. /alling about how x did so and so and is a [insert a few choicy swear words here] isn't exactly nice either. Maybe I'm just soft when people insult others since I find even a '...' unnecessary and insulting. (I can feel the raised eyebrows already on this one ;__;) though maybe that's just me knowing how tough it is to get a few well-worded insults every few seconds and wanting to defend them. Eh I guess that was kind of a rant so I might be a bit hypocritical here. I'm just fed up with people getting so worked up over a single loss and saying the nastiest of **** to each other. Like 'treat others how you'd like to be treated' much? :( It's a game that's supposed to be enjoyed, not a flamewar on youtube. Even if our team is 0/16, I'll always try and be the 'sparkle sparkle we can do dis guys' even if that would mean lying to myself. No matter how bad a game goes, I always try to make it fun for at least myself and enjoy the 20 or so minutes I spend in it. :D (also bear with me orianna fans but I got volibear due to alex's reasoning. ^^ puns very much intended) |
