Elaitenstile February 23rd, 2013 9:13 PM

Nope. I couldn't find a copy anywhere, so I just played it in an emu.

Caelus February 23rd, 2013 10:52 PM

Never have, probably never will, but it would be pretty cool to play it since it, along with japanese red, were the first two pokemon games made.

I so agree with you, I always wanted to play Green, but I don't understand a word of Japanese at all, Leaf Green was nice, but it isn't the same :(

FlameChocobo March 25th, 2013 10:16 AM

Played all 4 versions of generation 1 games. Feels so good owning these games, especially the Japanese version of Pokemon Blue.

GalacticGlameow March 25th, 2013 9:16 PM

I own the English versions of Pokemon Blue and Yellow for my GameBoy. I don't know why I have Blue instead of Green. XD Bulbasaur is my favorite starter. I love the original Pokemon games because they have the most familiar characters and aren't so confusing.

Midnight-Umbreon March 31st, 2013 2:48 AM

I really want to!!!!! But the cartridge, but sadly I don't think that will happen!!! D: first there is finding a copy, then convincing my mum to pay (because it won't be cheap, and how can I convince her to buy a game in another language which will eventually die cuase of the save battery) who knows maybe if I ever go to Japan.....

ABGamer April 9th, 2013 7:21 AM

the cartridge version of green: no, on an emulator I tried but just couldn't do it and kept sending out the wrong pokemon.

Kiriyuuki Kasuna April 9th, 2013 2:56 PM

I indeed did and yep it was horribly translated (Fan translation btw) and the sprites were just creepy and terribad. But on the other hand it was funny reading some of the text like "Omni-Potent Ball" and "Oter"

So there you have it.

tnfsf11 April 10th, 2013 7:54 AM

I played the original green then choved my arm down my throat because the lavender town music was so high pitched and I died...
Then I got resurrected by letting a channeler have a litre of my blood.

TwoFacedGaming2013 April 13th, 2013 9:05 AM

Nope never did, but i think im gonna have to try it... might be difficult because i have no idea how to read Japanese.

Katie_Q April 13th, 2013 5:28 PM

Nope. I have one being sent to me soon that I got on ebay. Assuming that it's not fake. And hopefully the battery's not dead, otherwise I'll have to replace it. I've never really played the 1st gen games. Only a little bit of Red, and then firered and leafgreen. I did play a japanese version of pokemon gold once and it was pretty confusing, but hopefully I won't have too much trouble.

Varion Bluefire April 13th, 2013 6:35 PM

A couple mates had it when they attended college with me, they had completed it, regardless of being in Japanese, but I suppose if you know your 1st Gen you can do it regardless of language.

Unknown# April 14th, 2013 12:33 PM

I have played it, and beaten it. I don't know how to read Japanese, but if you've played a Gen 1 Pokemon game before you can get through Pokemon Green. I got Green version awhile back at a garage sale along with the Japanese Red and Blue versions.

Cheshireson April 14th, 2013 5:06 PM

No, I can't say I have ever played that one. I have Pokémon Red and Blue, however, and I have read that the Japanese Green version is the same as the North American Blue version.

Rai April 16th, 2013 8:41 PM

No, I have never played the original. However, I do have a fake version of it x3

Hidden Power May 5th, 2013 12:20 PM

Yes, I have already played Green, but never finished it. Japanese language is very boring. I don't even reached Brock's gym.

YOLTMayne May 15th, 2013 5:26 PM

I've have green. The sprites are so bad! Have you seen Mews sprite in Green? Ewwww.

blue May 16th, 2013 6:58 AM

I met someone on holiday who had Green Version, I played it briefly but I didn't really like it compared to Red, Blue and Yellow back then.

xGal May 17th, 2013 8:44 AM

I'm playing that right now on my Samsung Galaxy :D
It's awesome!

Musica May 17th, 2013 9:34 PM

I played the one with crappy English translations. I was a kid when I played it, but I knew how to speak English well (English isn't our native language). It was good, if you didn't count crappy English.

sanny the hedgehog May 17th, 2013 10:17 PM

Alas, I have not. But I wish I could. Although, I feel like it'd be a whole new game with just the Japanese text and different sprites.

Sirfetch’d May 29th, 2013 11:54 AM

Never have and I never plan to. I don't want to play a game that I cannot understand.

lmcde22 May 29th, 2013 8:01 PM

it's the only main game i haven't played yet :( I know there are roms around but it's not the same... I could get one if i wanted to but it's not on the top of my priorities list.

MrElephant June 18th, 2013 8:13 PM

I have played the game because I own all of the pokemon games... (Kind of a collector I guess)

Eruption June 19th, 2013 6:58 AM

I didn't know it existed until about three years ago. It does make me wonder how Japan fell in love with such an ugly game, Red & Blue have their imperfections, but Green is on another level. I personally wouldn't want to play it since I can simply enjoy the horrific sprites by finding them online.

SubVirus June 19th, 2013 9:06 AM

I played a fan based english (bablefish translation) port to a "original" green game.
basically a whole cartridge port instead of just an emulation.
It had several bugs within translation issues but the gameplay was all there and it was playable.
I didn't see much differences to Red except minor artwork differences.

ElectaTHUGG July 14th, 2013 10:47 PM

my parents got me tha OG cartridge for christmas back in like '99 or somethin

but i couldnt read it so i left it alone

still got tha cartridge tho

Heart's Soul July 16th, 2013 6:16 AM

Yes, a few times, actually. While I didn't understand any of it, it's not the first Pokemon game that I beat in Japanese.

Sheep July 16th, 2013 4:07 PM

Nope, never. ;( It is something I want to try, though! I was considering getting a copy to collect too.

tranceking26 July 17th, 2013 6:17 AM

I'd love to play the real thing, but sounds like some serious effort to translate in the ROM hack above, I will try it and see the different sprites :-)

blaziken25 July 28th, 2013 10:13 PM

Nope but it's on Trade Me at the moment. *Tempted* *Tempted* hehe :D Boxed too! But nope I dont have the money :(

Elixir. August 7th, 2013 7:03 PM

I played a ROM of it, if that counts. As for the actual cartridge, no, I have never owned/played one. Although I would love to own it.

ErikaInRainbowCity August 10th, 2013 6:15 PM

I'd love to play it someday :) It would be even better if I learnt Japanese too D:

Personofsecrets August 10th, 2013 9:51 PM

I have a ripped off fake copy that is hilarious, but can't hold a save.

What's so funny about it? Does it have a weird translation like Vietnamese Crystal? LOL

Aeroblast August 12th, 2013 7:45 AM

He could be talking about the bootleg translated green, like the one below.

ErikaInRainbowCity August 12th, 2013 11:28 AM

Not as funny as Vietnamese Crystal but Professor Aochider is an totally awesome name xD

White_Survives August 29th, 2013 7:00 PM

i actually bought it not too long ago. picked it up for cheap on amazon

Hiatus August 30th, 2013 12:12 AM

I haven't played it before, unfortunately. I've never understood Japanese in the first place, so there was honestly no point in me playing it. I always wanted to, though, because I've heard a lot of stories about it. The story about Lavender Town music has gotta be the most interesting of them all. Since they have an English patch now, I may finally be able to give this game a try~

TwilightBlade September 14th, 2013 7:04 PM

I briefly played a bootleg English translated Green when at a flea market (a market place where people can sell some used/cheap stuff). The lady priced it at $30. This was about in 2002 or so, and I wasn't impressed with it since I already had Red/Blue.

UNFORTUNATELY, I instead bought the bootleg Diamond / Telefang. Oh jeez, the Engrish. I was deceived into thinking it was a rare Pokemon game that I didn't have yet. It's an alright game by itself, but it was not worth $30. :P

Alloute September 14th, 2013 10:14 PM

Nope but I really want to. It just seems so mysterious since it was the first Pokemon game along with the Jpn version of Red. I heard it's a lot like R/B but I would still like to try playing it some day.

Varion Bluefire September 17th, 2013 2:32 AM

I own a copy.
It's not that different from RBY except, japanese.

But still. is fun. :I

Sirfetch’d September 23rd, 2013 12:28 AM

I haven't but I would actually like to one day. If I did though, I would want to play the non-translated one to see how well I do without dialogue.

Ari Niko September 29th, 2013 6:01 AM

I've played it simply out of curiosity. Plus I wanted to hear Lavender Town's Japanese music in-game.

She_Delphox October 17th, 2013 6:01 AM

I also own Pokemon Green cartridge (as wel as Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow JAP). I collect alot of Pokemon stuff and Retro games and consoles, I wanted this for ages! :D

I also like the fact that in the good old days you could interact your trusted Pokes from Red/Blue/Yellow and battle with them in Pokemon Stadium :D When I was a kid that was a nice drive to play again ^_^ (and yes I still do)

I was playing this game until my Pokemon X copy was out actually ^_^

Dreg October 17th, 2013 6:44 AM

I never played the original Green Version so I have no idea what pokemon were on what routes. I might consider playing it sometime in the future.

PokemonTrainerRedBlueYellow October 24th, 2013 3:29 PM

Yes I have. None of the rumors surrounding it are true. It was a interesting experience playing my second favourite generation in japanese

Ig Pokemon Lover October 24th, 2013 5:47 PM

No sadly i only play games that are in English only.

GreyVirgo October 29th, 2013 2:30 AM

I never did play Pokemon Green but I would love to try and I saw lots of the Horribly Translated Pokemon Green Let's Plays on Youtube and it's great.
