They aren't new, but I don't know many people who know them! D:
If you want me to recommend bands, old and new, I can! I did run a radio show for 4 years, so needed to keep it new and fresh! XD

I'm not feeling the music man, sorry to say. I can get into the music but the vocals are just too distracting. It's not like Kings of Leon where the "singing" can be largely ignored for the awesome music.

I'll take a ton of suggestions though, if you have some metal with some better singing. Stuff like Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, and Disturbed are all fine as long as it isn't something like 70% screaming.

Haha, don't worry, they're a pretty good band otherwise. A lot of different instruments and beats are used, and the singing is iffy at first but it's really easy to like it. You'd at least like a handful of their songs since they're pretty different from each other. The writing is definitely some 2deep4u stuff though, but it's still great music otherwise.

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 12:53 AM

/random picture is random.

Anyway, that is their new stuff, their older is mental! XD
When I have a spare moment, I will pull up some stuff.

CarefulWetPaint June 22nd, 2012 1:18 AM

FABIO KNOWS WHERE MUSIC IS ATTT!!! <3

I love your view on why you like metal it is basically the same as mine, not to mention metal is funner to play on the guitar wooooo!!

This was pretty good, might listen to more stuff.

If anyone recommends good metal, I prefer stuff with no or little screaming. Screaming is ok, but if it's extremely grumbled and excessive, I can't really enjoy it.

Kura June 22nd, 2012 1:52 AM

I'm listening to metal, too. Dr en Grey's Obscure.. though I can't really post a link to that here haha :3

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 2:06 AM

Haha. Yeh, don't post it here, we both know what that video is like! XD

I am listening to Vermilion by Slipknot; much love for this song.

Overlord Drakow June 22nd, 2012 2:25 AM

Time to get serious with the electric guitar.

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 3:02 AM

Got to love that, haven't you.
But if we are getting serious:

Overlord Drakow June 22nd, 2012 3:12 AM

Hardcore indeed. It's pretty badass how he has the cigarette attached to the end of his guitar. I was like "what is that smoke coming out of the end of his guitar, is he playing so hardcore that his guitar is flaring up?"

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 3:15 AM

Haha, that is Eddie for you. I think everyone thought the smoke was coming from the guitar at first. :3

CarefulWetPaint June 22nd, 2012 3:19 AM

Fabio I take your eddie and raise you a buckethead!

So how many of you guys actually play guitar/ an instrument?

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 3:29 AM

Bucket Head is indeed cool, but he can't beat Eddie, imo. Eddie has pure history and is epic!

I am grade 5 in Piano and can play drums! :3

Nihilego June 22nd, 2012 5:35 AM

Guitar for about 11 years and keyboard for nearly 2 years now yeahhhhhhh. Kinda nerdy lol.

Shining Raichu June 22nd, 2012 5:46 AM

I can play chopsticks on the piano better than all of you combined!

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 5:52 AM

Oh Andy, you have put us all to shame. XD
We should have like, a music competition...

Algo Fonix June 22nd, 2012 5:53 AM

Dude, discussion about metal? Good metal? Well. You guys should check out Ne Obliviscaris. They're new and friggin brilliant. And from Australia!

I've played bass for like, I guess it's almost exactly 8 years now. D: Tried recording some yesterday and that did. not. work. Good news is, I need a new sound card. Bad news is I need a new sound card.

Holding out hope that today won't be nearly as expensive.

Esper June 22nd, 2012 7:37 AM

Some of the band names you all mentioned are great in an I-don't-get-where-they-came-from kind of way. Quick, everyone, grab the nearest book. Find the first word on page 19, then the first word on page 81, then the first word on page 48. You now have your band name.

Immortalized Divine Harvesting.

That worked better than I thought.

No contest, Andy --OH SNAP. PIANO-OFF UP IN THIS BEAST.

I actually learned how to play the pipe organ...but then forgot. ;;

Mr. X June 22nd, 2012 8:37 AM

Played clarinet for 6 years now. (All types except the Contra's, although I'd love to play one of those too.)

As for metal, try listening to HIM. While your at it, check out Newgrounds audio collection, lot of good stuff their. As for metal in general, I find myself preferring symphonic and neo- classical metal over anything else.

Back to instruments. I've always wanted to learn how to play the bagpipes.

Palamon June 22nd, 2012 8:51 AM

Why haven't I checked this thread?

DCC is awesome; I always use to post in it but had a bit of a break couple of months ago.

Kura June 22nd, 2012 10:44 AM

I used to be a BEAST in the DCC. Especially back in like 2005 or 2006 or so.. the DCC was my home <33

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 10:45 AM

That was because you moderated the section! XD
But yeh, I can remember the older days of DCC, fun times! To be fair, I think it is awesome now! :D

That...that, is a long, long time.
Wouldn't it be interesting to look up any posts in a "5 years from now" thread? Reflective opportunity right there.

Alex June 22nd, 2012 11:04 AM

I never post here. What is the point.

Kura June 22nd, 2012 11:08 AM

No but even before I moderated it.. man.. it was crazy! I wonder if I can find any of the old threads..
We had monthly ones haha :33

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 11:08 AM

It is always interesting to look up posts from previous years. It is more amusing to see different discussions, topics and people... and what the weather was like then.

Nihilego June 22nd, 2012 11:09 AM

I like looking back over old threads just to see how bad they were lol. As well as to see which crazy threads have been deleted. They're the best part.

Where you'd be down the road in a matter of months? That's a first, if that's...not even sure I understood that.

Reminiscing over past times and old threads seems like it's a permanent part of the topic cycle here now.

droomph June 22nd, 2012 11:21 AM

AIGHT GUYS IT'S COLD AS HELL

I just like to look back and see who were the mods and stuff. I'm incredibly nosy, I know.

So yeah. Shoot me?

droomph June 22nd, 2012 11:23 AM

It's never too late to come back!

Also they need some activity at the PG DCC imma go check dem out now

droomph June 22nd, 2012 11:31 AM

holy **** is the ROM complete and they're just holding back? OMGOMG

I would love to see the whole thing and play it. Although imma buy it because I support getting new games in the future and not driving Game Freak bankrupt.

Shiny Celebi June 22nd, 2012 11:47 AM

I really want to play BW2. I just dont want to wait anymore why does it have to take so long to be out in English ;_;

Yeah, people are going nuts over the rom. Practically every social media network I have has a million liveblog/plurk/tweets/whatever about them playing the game. Someone also streamed it. I think it looks really cute, actually.

:'D

Gosh, just think about when the videos come out, and ALL of the official music, etc etc. Dang, the section is gonna explode. xD

But I am upset it takes a while for the translations to be done for the USA. :c Why can't they all have a magic button that translates it to every language in a matter of hours, ship them out to other countries, and be done with it? :c

Oryx June 22nd, 2012 12:13 PM

Last time I tried to play a fan-translated BW and it was only translated up to before the first gym and I didn't know what to do and didn't enjoy it.

SO I'LL WAIT FOR ENGLISH THANKS

Treecko June 22nd, 2012 12:15 PM

@Jellicent What I'm thinking.
I'm avoiding news about these games until I can get my hands on them or untill they give an official US release date on them.
Why haven't they did that yet? I need my release dates Nintendo!

/makes a tool where it all runs through Google Translate.

That would certainly be useful. However, I would rather them keep it back so there isn't any 'missed' translations, like Toujours said.

droomph June 22nd, 2012 12:26 PM

Yeah, I can translate every sentence fairly easily with Densho Jisho...what's takingggg them so lonngggggg

So yeah.

I guess it's hard to translate? That's a sad reality.

@Toujours What you said.

Shiny Celebi June 22nd, 2012 12:37 PM

And the have to make up English names for Pokemon and other characters, moves, items, etc, all that cant be easy at all.

Captain Fabio June 22nd, 2012 12:41 PM

Yeh, it is true. There is a lot of text and, as I said, I don't mind them taking a long time because we really do need to understand the text... unlike...

Shiny Celebi June 22nd, 2012 12:54 PM

At least this time its not as much of a wait.

Mr. X June 22nd, 2012 1:14 PM

Rom leaked already?

Holy crap. Must find.

I'm going to love seeing some of the fan (mis)translations of it. I'm still laughing over a couple of (mis)translated sentences from BW.

And on that, I'm also going to love putting down some of the translations too.

Algo Fonix June 22nd, 2012 1:19 PM

I still haven't even finished Black version. Probably won't get around to it either.

droomph June 22nd, 2012 1:34 PM

Dammit

I don't think I'll really be interested with dealing with DS ROMs anymore. Those are annoying, and I doubt my Mac can handle anything more than Diamond or Pearl.

Mr. X June 22nd, 2012 1:36 PM

The freezes are just the AP. Someone cracked the basic AP (No-xp) but the freezes are still a problem. I heard that someone has managed to crack the ap that causes the freezes too, although he's yet to release the hex changes needed. (Proably still testing them)

I wouldn't worry about it. With how popular this game is, the AP will be fully cracked in a few days.

As for incompability, if your using No$ then its no suprise. That emulator was last updated... a half a decade ago? Close to that. Personally, I'm surprised its still used. The game runs a lot better on flashcarts though, so I'll be trying the game after I update mine.

Edit - AP patch

You'll have to apply this manually.

Edit 2

Speaking of translations, one is (already) in the works.

Netto Azure June 22nd, 2012 2:01 PM

Yep, the AP is pretty much the cause for the freezes. But it seems to be getting more and more complex per new DS game. It's actually taking 2 days to crack a popular game? XDD

Mr. X June 22nd, 2012 2:08 PM

Complex?

Haha.

From what I've heard, all that this AP is was just transfering over the Ap from BW. Given that it got cracked day 1, I'm willing to bet that this is true.

droomph June 22nd, 2012 2:43 PM

This isn't romhacking.net y'all know, right?

Okay yeah anyways back on topic.

What's AP? I've never heard of it...

CarefulWetPaint June 22nd, 2012 2:53 PM

Ap stands for anti piracy cause everyone knows thatll stop people from playing games. "LoL"
All you people shouldnt be playing illegal roms anyway! Shame on you all!

Oryx June 22nd, 2012 2:58 PM

No regrets, CWP. No regrets.

I Googled "no regrets" and this came up:

droomph June 22nd, 2012 3:03 PM

"00 00 9F E5" appears quite often in the anti-piracy code for BW1. Is that ARM for "CURSE YOU...YOU HAVE BEATEN MEEEEEE"? ldr r15, r0, #0x0

yeah. i'm sure nintendo really cares.

Anyway, play some video games. Those always make me feel better.

Job fairs suck. Overcrowded, and like you said, the chances of actually getting a job from one is pretty slim.

Yeah, you're right. Raus and Amir always make me feel better.

So why not Monster.com or something and get an interview? Are you just there because you can, or has there been some problems and you've been forced to take that route?

That what the water parks here in Louisiana do. All of them. They'll make anyone a lifeguard. Legit.

I figured I'd give it a try when I found out about the job fair.

I'm only looking for seasonal work over the summer. When I start school in the fall, I'll only work part-time; probably on campus.

It's an amusement park.
It does have some water rides, though.

I figured I'd give it a try when I found out about the job fair.

I'm only looking for seasonal work over the summer. When I start school in the fall, I'll only work part-time; probably on campus.

I figured getting a job for the summer was as easy as pulling up to your closest Safeway or Target and filling out that form on the machine. But yeah.

:\ Well, there's always Gamestop.

My job owns ALL YO JOBS.

And I will personally punch anyone who posts a picture of Steve Jobs during this discussion.

Dr.Kotov June 23rd, 2012 1:35 AM

Must you present temptation?

Completely normal to feel nervous before starting your first job, right? Though I'll welcome the monotonous and mundane routine of the workplace with open arms, I still think I won't be able to juggle it along effectually with university classes going on. You can tell I'm not used to working.

ruby June 23rd, 2012 1:40 AM

For some reason I can do my job in only three hours from the eight hours I have to do it in, so the other 5 hours I can just browse PC and chat with people.

It's a good time to get stuff done as well as there are much fewer distractions.

Dr.Kotov June 23rd, 2012 1:54 AM

Haha, efficient on your part or misconceived time allotment by the manager?
For the love of me, I don't think I'd be able to control the cynic in me when I'm dealing with acrid and arrogant customers.

There's always paid internships I suppose.
Harder to attain but definitely rewarding.

ruby June 23rd, 2012 2:27 AM

I'd like to think efficiency, but I might just be flattering myself there. You'd have to ask my manager how well he thinks I do . xD

You've got a certain amount of security with an intern-ship too.

Kura June 23rd, 2012 2:42 AM

My first job in the industry was over the summer of my first year of Uni as a Production Assistant for a company that did animated commercials (my job dealt with applying to film festivals, scanning, compositing, colouring animation, and dealing with people/ the phone.) I was super nervous at first but easily got into it.
Second place in the industry was my internship at Disney working on Split Second DLC and prototype anims for a game that was in development. I learned a lot and I was so happy with that experience. It was a big move.

:33 Now I'm working at Sega as an animator (suuuper nervous when I started, too.. aren't we all?) and so happy that one of the games I am working on will get announced soon :333 So I will finally be able to spazz and talk about what I am actually working on <3333

Man I love working in Games.

Luck June 23rd, 2012 2:56 AM

I'm trying to get into medicine as a major(cause medicine is the best major ever) but I'm totally interested in developing my own game, even though I have absolutely no experience with anything computer related haha :( I really hope there's a little bit of free time and the "busy doctor" stuff was totally exaggerated, but I know that's not true.

Mr. X June 23rd, 2012 3:10 AM

I work at a computer repair shop.

Nice and simple.

I write a bit in my free time, hope to publish a few books one of these years.

Try and beat that.

Captain Fabio June 23rd, 2012 7:40 AM

Mine is awesome and I am happy with my pay. It is fun being an IT Technician for a University, because you don't do the same thing every day; varies a hell of a lot.

Captain Fabio June 23rd, 2012 8:06 AM

Part time jobs I had were in retail and it was soul destroying. XD

Tell me about it! I worked at a photography store before and it was.. ugh. I know it's not as bad as retail clothing but.. >_> I just.. don't like dealing with people.. especially idiots @[email protected]

droomph June 23rd, 2012 9:23 AM

So from what I hear, I shouldn't even consider getting a retail job?

Captain Fabio June 23rd, 2012 9:27 AM

That is just my personal experience of it; doesn't mean you won't like it. There are many good parts about it, but it just wasn't for me.

I work in clothing. It suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks. >n>"
I suggest to avoid CLOTHING for retail. However, beauty supplies and junk is simple.

Sounds like you've played your cards right and judging from your jovial tone, honestly, I actually envy you. Kudos.

Wouldn't it be inexplicably convenient to hold that post within your own university? I'm thinking of working for the library if they let me at mine.

No I wouldn't say that.. my dad owns a boutique and he's happy. And job experience is job experience! Always a good thing!

Dr.Kotov June 23rd, 2012 9:52 AM

Hope your luck strikes me the same way.
Are the majority of technically issues you face solved by a simple system restart?

Captain Fabio June 23rd, 2012 10:04 AM

Not really. It depends on the problem though. Printer problems aren't sorted by turning them off and on normally.

Esper June 23rd, 2012 10:06 AM

Retail jobs are pretty soul crushing if you have the wrong mix of bad customers, annoying coworkers, and uncaring managers.

droomph June 23rd, 2012 10:26 AM

Ahhh yeah I've heard a couple stories before. It's pretty dumb how all these customers act so entitled though. You're buying groceries...don't expect them to be your slaves...

Overlord Drakow June 23rd, 2012 10:30 AM

I solve my printer problems by giving it a good axe kick.

Nah jk, it's usually a paper jam so I gotta unjam it >_<

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ June 23rd, 2012 10:47 AM

My printer problem is that it guzzles ink like an SUV guzzles gas, and it's too expensive to keep our color ink cartridge filled... we pretty much have to print everything in black and white now.

droomph June 23rd, 2012 10:59 AM

^, and how come my color printer requires me to have cyan, magenta, yellow, and black to print black and white.

Oryx June 23rd, 2012 11:04 AM

Printers are how computer companies make money, with those super expensive ink cartridges. >_o

droomph June 23rd, 2012 11:08 AM

Also, if you have an inkjet printer, instead of getting the paper printed, it's a robot orgy session, with a bit of printing going on.

That's why I like laser printers, even if they only come in black and white. That gets the job doooone.

And yeah, why do ink cartridges cost so much? I'm buying ink, not a house...

Oryx June 23rd, 2012 11:19 AM

Because that's how they get you. Some computers even come with free printers, they make up the money by having their own brand of ultra-expensive ink that you have to buy to keep it working.

droomph June 23rd, 2012 11:27 AM

Wouldn't a good price and functionality and some awesome customer service make more money than doing that?

Oryx June 23rd, 2012 11:35 AM

Customer service costs them money, it doesn't make them money. Although I've bought a lot more expensive printers based on what I would save on ink cartridges, because higher-quality printers have less expensive cartridges since they don't need to make up the loss of money with cartridges like the free/cheap ones do.

Mr. X June 23rd, 2012 11:49 AM

Why spend all that money on the cartridges? Just get refill kits.

Lot cheaper... Unless you spill ink all over the floor/carpet/yourclothes/thecat/whatever.

Some cartridges can't be refilled though, so its best to get the refill kit first, then a printer that uses cartridges that you can refill.
