Bike or Walk
hey guys how often do you use your bike?
I USED TO USE IT EVERY WHERE BUT NOW I WALK (ITS HEALTHIER OR IS IT) |
I usually run/walk, but I only use the bike when I'm either hatching eggs or need to get to other places quickly
Bikes aren't specific to Black and White so imma throw this over to PGC. If this is already made and I missed it feel free to kill mr Syd. :3
As for me I use the bike as often as I can. Favorite feature in any games basically. XD; |
I like riding the bike for the speed, but I hate trying to manoeuvre around things and it gets annoying, so I usually run in towns and routes, then bike in caves.
Personally? I hate all the bike music, as well as trying to maneuver around things. Like doors. The bike in BW is my least favorite, and the Acro bike is the coolest. (I like bouncing and popping wheelies, partly because I can't ride a bike in real life.) The BW bike is too fast, and I only really use it when I'm crossing Skyarrow bridge. I tend to forget to get off of it, and wind up slamming into walls when I'm trying to get into a building.
I prefer using my Running Shoes everywhere, even when it increases an already-high encounter rate. (I don't run on Route 7, though. The encounter rate is too high already.) I have my running shoes set to 'always' in HG, so I don't wear out my B button quite AS much. So, yeah, Running all the way. |
I'll usually ride my bike when backtracking, but I won't use it the first time through a new area.
In-game I hate the bicycle... it's beyond clunky.
In the real world, I love riding bicycles. I was an endurance racer growing up and even learned how to ride a bicycle on an adult mountain-cycle long before I could even walk without assistance. |
I love the bike, that's the reason I hate routes with really tall grass.
The reason why I love the bike, it's so I can get around faster! |
Usually I run. If my bike is registered, I might use it, but in games with the Vs. Seeker, that's usually registered so eh. Too lazy to get the bike out in that case.
I usually prefer to walk than ride the bike especially in HG/SS when your pokemon follow you. I'm just not the biggest fan of the cycling music and I would rather not have to listen to it.
I always used to use the bike, but now I usually run unless I plan on going long distance, or if the road's straightforward enough to ride the bike on. I find the bike too fast at times, making it feel really clunky to zigzag through narrower pathways.
The one game in particular where I hardly use the bike is HeartGold - watching my Pokemon follow behind me is just too cute, haha. |
I barely use my bike. I don't use it all in fact lol. I only use it when forced like as in the Cycling Road. I don't even pick it up in most games. (i.e ones where cycling road is an option).
to be honest I am never off the bike part from indoor areas as it is so much faster that walking everywhere.
I used to always have the bike set to Select in older gens. Then I realized two generations after the introduction of running shoes that being on foot is more pleasing to lazy people like me. So after that discovery, I didn't use the bike as often. I still use it at times, but the walk-bike ratio is far from even.
I've got into the habbit of pressing the B button down where ever I go.
I tend to find myself running most of the time. I always forget that I have a bike. XD I will use it sometimes, but not always. I tend to have no flying types on my in-game team, so I find myself hoofing it a lot.
I'm with PlatinumDuke on this one: I'll ride my bike if I need to hatch eggs. Otherwise I walk/run. As silly as it sounds, I tend to bump into a lot of stuff while riding bikes, so I'd rather just run.
I bike everywhere, unless I can fly, then I fly.
I don't bike very often, oddly enough. Typically I run everywhere, because I have something else registered and just don't bother with registering the bike. Besides, it's easier to run now since you don't have to register anything!
More like how often do I use my running shoes over my bike. My bike is almost always out, and going. I hate how slow walking is, and running is almost just as, and I like to blast through the games.
I....use a little of both xD.
Walking and running are convenient whenever I'm not much of a rush to do anything. I use the bike when I want to get to a destination asap, or I am just too impatient to hatch an egg. But most of the time I prefer to walk. My character needs the exercise, ya know! :D |
I usually ride my bike, unless I'm in HG/SS, cause I like the Follow Me feature more than the added speed of a bike
Depends on the version. Sometimes the bikes are stupid fast and I run into walls constantly, but sometimes they're decent. I usually run, but in huge cities or long paths that I've cleared every trainer in, I'll bike.
I tend to register the bike the second I get it. I usually use it for long distances across multiple routes.
I, like, never use the bike. The music is dumb. I just don't like the thing.
I've been much more used to walking then biking. I mainly just use the bike when I'm hatching eggs or raising pokemon in the day-care.
I normally just run everywhere, because on the bike I run into so many things that it's faster that way.
I mainly use the bike, unless I really want to listen to the song of the place where I am. I'm not someone patient, the faster it is, the better I feel.
As soon as I obtain the bike in each game, it's registered to Select/Y and I'm using it to go everywhere that I can with it. It's only when I can't use it (so, indoors, long grass patches and surfing) that I even think to get off the bike for the most part. That being said, I am really glad for the Running Shoes' existence. I can't imagine going back to the days of RBY where until you got to Cerulean, you couldn't have any way of speeding up! That would drive me crazy nowadays!
Depends on the game. In the Kanto games, I mostly walked because I don't like the bike music. In HG/SS, I rode the bike as much as I could so I wouldn't have to deal with the Pokemon following me. But in B/W, since there was nowhere that required Bike usage, I didn't use the Bike at all. Not once.
I do think that ever since the Running Shoes were introduced, I've generally used the Bike less... the running shoes are plenty fast enough for me, plus I'm too lazy to open the menu each time (and nowadays I have something else mapped to the shortcut keys). |
As soon as I get the bike, I register it and am using it almost all the time, even if the music bed gets to me.
I used to be bike dependent lol but now I prefer the running shoes - I think partly because if I'm in a place with nice music I don't like changing it with the bike music :)
Since the introduction of the running shoes in the R/S, I only use the bike for areas that it's required (ex: getting up a muddy slope or those thin ledges in R/S/E). I find running just as easy, and absolutely loved the idea that HG/SS had with keeping the running shoes on.
In the first two gen games though, the Bicycle was basically the only thing I registered as a key item, unless I was going on a fishing spree. |
I prefer running in the game. Wait, what am I talking about? I don't run I just get in my car and drive... Wait, I don't have a car.
I always walk/run around the region, until it comes to bike paths or hatching eggs is when I use a bike.
I bet they can add more features with the bike, like in R/S/E... |
It really depends on which version i'm playing. If i'm playing one from the first gen, I definitely use my bike as soon as I can. Same with the 2nd generation, I register it and use it whenever I need to. However in the newer versions I usually just use the running shoes, but if i'm trying to hatch an egg, then i'll use my bike.
It depends on what I am playing as well. Nowadays with Gen V and back in Gen II I usually run/ran everywhere unless I feel the need to ride my bike. The routes and everything felt much shorter in BW, too, so that's a reason.
In Gens I, III, and IV I used my bike almost all of the time. I'm not sure why the odd split up there, ha. I can at least say that Hoenn had plenty of reasons to use your bike and it seemed like a much more open region. |
When I'm going through places first time I usually don't use it, but after that, I use it all the time! Much faster and (if I'm not mistaken) when you're more likely to bump into wild Pokémon if you're riding your bike in long grass, which can be useful if you're looking for stuff.
And, as someone already said, it's useful if you're trying to hatch eggs. Gets it done quicker, anyway. |
I prefer running really, depending on the game, the bike can be too fast and you pass everything up and it gets kinda anti-productive.

I use the bike everywhere except in grass. Idk if the encounter rate goes up or what, but I just hate it. |
Running is the way I usually do it. It is all about convenience.
