Old collector... needs to know what old cards are worth :-)
Hi :-) I collected these cards back in highschool and i came across my pretty extensive collection while cleaning out my house for a move. To be honest I don't know much about them anymore. I came across one card that i cant find much about. It's a Mew with the Promo star and the number 8 in the bottom corner. Can anyone help me with how rare this is and how much it is worth? I have a ton of other cards I'm questioning. None of my cards are older than the Gym Heros set. That is how long ago this was :-) If anyone is an expert on cards from 2000 or earlier, please message me! Everyone's help is much appreciated.

There's a thread here that you can ask for prices in: http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=274173
Please follow the rules of that thread when asking for prices. I don't have the time to be pricing out a massive number of cards at once, since I do have a busy offline life, so please stick to the guidelines/rules. That promo Mew, just going off of memory, would probably fetch between $2 and $4, by the way, depending on its condition. |
General cards are worth 10-25 cents old or new if they are common rarity. Pricing will be deducted depending on the condition rare cards from tat time period like donny said will go from $2 to $4. And also the price may go up depending on who your selling it to.
Tip:Dont get ripped off. |
There's a bunch of guides and stuff for finding card prices. The thread donavannj posted is probably helpful. However pokemon cards aren't selling very easily at the moment. I tried selling my complete platinum arceus set one time and I couldn't find a buyer. (I don't wanna sell it anymore though, so that worked out <3 )

Uncommons and commons are usually less than 0.50/$1 from what I can tell. Otherwise I dunno.
A nice way to check is to search up an online TCG store (google will turn up many reliable ones) and see what the price of your card is. Note that they still need to earn profit and thus will have round numbers (like 0.99 and 0.50) so these aren't exactly reliable for exact measurements. But if you see one that's more expensive than usual (like $4/$5) you might want to read up on that card. I'm not very helpful I know but I thought I'd put my two cents out there. |
