okjoek July 1st, 2012 6:31 PM

What type specialist would your name suggest?

For example, names like Drake and Lance seem to suggest that you use dragon types. You don't have to give me your real name because I'd probably get in trouble if I asked for it so I won't.

For me...

Joseph I think would suggest that I use Psychic or Water maybe.

Mystical Mermaid July 1st, 2012 8:59 PM

Both my forum and real name (Marina) pretty obviously suggest Water types, perhaps delving a bit into ice. I've never favored them in the games, though, where I usually try to keep a balanced team with as few repeat types as I can.

Aquacorde July 1st, 2012 9:53 PM

Ooh, that's a bit difficult because I can never figure out which name to use. My proper name, Savannah, would suggest grass and normal types since it means 'treeless plain'. That kind of sets me up to have things like maybe Sunkern, Rattata, Yanappu and Hoppip. The name I go by, Anna, would also suggest normal types- Clefairy, Eevee, Sentret, Meowth.

Both suggest small, basic Pokémon. They'll do.

droomph July 1st, 2012 10:03 PM

Shane hmmm...I would probably be Irish and fighting with Alcohol types :P so many stereotypes

Um...I don't know tbh. I think I would be a quiet type so probably a Psychic dude. But my name probably suggests Normal types lol

Though my Chinese name (nobody cares do they) would suggest that I use "otherworldly" Pokémon such as Clefairy.

And droomph is a definite Whitney :P

Satoshi Ookami July 2nd, 2012 1:54 AM

Lucas... maybe Fighting/Steel becuase of LUCario :D
Or Dark because Lu ca sounds like A ku which is Japanese for Dark =D

Olli July 2nd, 2012 5:29 AM

I can't really think of anything that Oliver would relate to, though the pronouncation of my nickname is also in Poliwag, so I'm guessing Water types? Otherwise, I'd probably say Grass types, as my name does come from the word olive, which would mostly relate to Grass types, I guess :p

chella182 July 2nd, 2012 6:03 AM

My name is Chelsea... I don't know... the 'sea' bit could be played off like Water-types... I think my name's quite general that it could be believable for a few types.

infersaime July 2nd, 2012 7:17 AM

My real name is Lennert doesn't really suggest anything so my forum name suggest fire type.

mondays suck July 2nd, 2012 7:23 AM

Since my name is religion-related I would be a ... theologian? One of these monks probably.

katiedawn121 July 2nd, 2012 7:57 AM

Kaitlyn ... Kate sounds like Kite, so maybe Flying-types?

Very cool thread :)

Jellicent♀ July 2nd, 2012 8:00 AM

My real name would probably suggest Ground, Rock, or Steel-type Pokemon. As much as I love Water-types, my name just doesn't fit it too well.

Zephele July 2nd, 2012 3:19 PM

The meaning of my name would suggest that I'd specialise in Dragon types, but I think it sounds somewhat fitting for Ice as well. It also has potential for Steel, I suppose.

The Legend of Zorra July 2nd, 2012 3:38 PM

Zorra would most likely correlate with Dark or Fire types, considering Zorra is spanish for female fox/vixen. I'd gladly be a dark or fire specialist. Alison, on the other hand, would be harder to match with a type. Normal or Dragon, maybe? Ice?

ShaymieTheShaymin July 3rd, 2012 7:57 AM

Well my username and my real name (Shaylynn)remind me of Shaymin,so maybe the grass type.

Candy July 3rd, 2012 8:24 AM

Considering my name and my username relates to light... Maybe Fire or Electric types since Star = Fire, and Light leans towards electricity. Then again, maybe Psychic or since they can use Flash which creates light... Hmm....

Roza July 5th, 2012 9:47 AM

My real name is "Shannon", and my last name is a Native American last name. Does this mean I have to use Bouffalant and Braviary as my main Pokemon? XD

But seriously - I'd much rather have a fire type team.

Livewire July 5th, 2012 10:22 AM

Username is a reference to electricity and currents, so yeah, the Electric type. Electric & Fire are symbiotic though, so Fire would also work. :>

arbok July 6th, 2012 12:31 AM

My real name is shared by an elite 4 member who uses Psychic types so maybe that.
Forum name is pretty poison focused, although making a serpent team of Arbok, Serviper, Steelix, Gyarados, Serperior and Milotic would be cool

Asuf July 6th, 2012 1:18 AM

My name, close enough to my real name, dosen't mean anything as far as I know...
However it sounds like I'd be a Ground or Dark type user.

AxeyWaxyWoo July 6th, 2012 1:42 AM

My real name is just the same as the name I use on here, Axel.

I think maybe Fire or Steel? Well they're the types that come to mind when I think of my name, haha. :) And I love fire types, so it's all good!

soulavenger July 6th, 2012 12:04 PM

Well my real name 'Hanshal' translates to 'like a swan',so maybe I would be a pure flying type or flying/water type user.

Zayphora July 6th, 2012 12:53 PM

My real life name suggests that I'd be a Rock-type specialist...

My username suggests Steel(because it sounds kind of futuristic) Electric(because it has Zap in it somewhere) or Flying(sounds like "zephyr" which is a type of wind)

Kung Fu Ferret July 6th, 2012 2:04 PM

Eric... That's my name.. Let's see...
Maybe Electric.

I would be an Elite 4 member with:

Ampharos
Magnezone
Emolga
Galvantula
Stunfisk
Lanturn

Aquarius1997 July 6th, 2012 2:27 PM

Im a male with an unisex name
Courtney
It means "very beatiful" (mom didnt know that i was named after my father)

But Courtney conjures up a normal or psyquic whis is good because we need a male psywuic or normal specialist other than cheran

My username Aquarius is a starsign that is known to be intellectual so maybe a psyquic-intellectual
Or
Water-AQUArius

Overall a psychic specialist
Come forth all psyquic types Aquarius will lead you with his mind

Oryx July 6th, 2012 2:30 PM

My real name is Nicole so I guess steel because Nicole sounds like "nickel" and nickel is a metal? Or ice because it sounds like it had "cold" in it.

Ephemeral Euphoria July 6th, 2012 2:38 PM

My name would imply that I'm a specialist of water, fire, ice, and dragon types but mostly water types since I've always felt at home in the water.

pokemonpal7 July 7th, 2012 1:39 AM

Jay is one of those birds, I believe, so probably flying. My forum name suggests that I could use any Pokemon :D

Sabrewulf238 July 7th, 2012 4:25 AM

Sean

The name feels like it could be really general. I suppose you could take the "Sea" to point towards water types but that seems a bit odd really....it isn't pronounced like Sea either. (Shaw-n)

diab_low July 7th, 2012 6:26 AM

well people call me diablo that can mean fire type

mineox100 July 7th, 2012 6:33 AM

Well, I have mine in my username, so possibly a ground type or rock type. The ox, maybe normal.

Sauromon222 July 7th, 2012 1:10 PM

I think my real name "william" would suggest steel type pokemon or rock though i prefer normal or dragon pokemon
As for my username it would sggest psychic or dark pokemon

Kotowari July 7th, 2012 1:46 PM

My name means "clear, bright", so I guess anything that gives light would do: Fire, Electric,...
I think that's a great choice, seeing as Fire is my favourite type, and some of my favourite Pokémon are electric types. :'D
Ampharos, Raichu, Zebstrika, Typhlosion ... yes, I don't mind. : >

Xander Olivieri July 7th, 2012 2:14 PM

My name has multiple meanings, most common is Protector of Man. XD

I'd assume Fighting or Steel Types.

Hikamaru July 7th, 2012 5:59 PM

My real name (Nichole) would suggest me as a Steel or Ice-type specialist.

My username (Hikari) means "light" so I guess Fire, Psychic or Electric-types.

Polizard July 8th, 2012 2:52 AM

My name Is George I honestly can't think of anyway to associate that with any type, but i would like to here some ideas.

diab_low July 8th, 2012 5:33 AM

From the Greek name Γεωργιος (Georgios) which was derived from the Greek word γεωργος (georgos) meaning "farmer, earthworker", itself derived from the elements γη (ge) "earth" and εργον (ergon) "work".

lol u can call me diablo im not actually greek im Australian but to the chase ur name suggest u a ground type.

lloebet July 8th, 2012 10:28 AM

Ah so your names Alex...? so is mine lets protect men together ill take steel types.

KyokuseiXRyusei July 8th, 2012 11:54 AM

My username implies my type is Ice/Electric.

Altairis July 8th, 2012 10:28 PM

My real name is actually Whitney, so I guess normal because there's already a normal-type gym leader named Whitney.

Limanya July 9th, 2012 6:29 AM

Hmm, i guess Tara would suggest Grass-types?

And my username...Psychic and Dark.

Rivvon July 9th, 2012 3:33 PM

My name means "kindness," and starts with n, so I would think Normal-type.

XtinaIsMeLuvinWWE July 10th, 2012 1:59 PM

Laura..... "aura"..... maybe Psychic???? I don't know lol :P

luke July 22nd, 2012 12:24 PM

My name means bringer of light. I feel like that could be interpreted in several different ways. You could see knowledge as a form of "light" and that's most closely associated with the Psychic-type (which happens to be my favorite type.) You could also see it as a Grass/Fire-type sort of deal because those types are most closely associated with the sun.

LightningAlex July 22nd, 2012 2:04 PM

Well, my name obviously suggests electric types xD I'd go with that. Even without the "Lightning" part in my name, "Alex" still reminds me of electric types for some reason :\

Jacinth July 27th, 2012 2:14 PM

My name means brave or noble, so I'd think fighting types.

Snowdrop July 27th, 2012 2:18 PM

Since Snowdrop is a plant, I think I sound like a Grass/Ice trainer.

Nineray July 27th, 2012 10:48 PM

My real name kinda sounds like a mirror and bronzor is based on a mirror so i guess steel types and my forum name Nineray which is a combonation of Ninetales and Luxray so fire and electric types.

danaxe July 27th, 2012 10:52 PM

darkert is for dark pokemon

Golurks Were Meant to Fly July 27th, 2012 11:01 PM

My real name would probably suggest normal type, although i could see psychic or even dark perhaps.

My username implies ground, since ground types seem happier than ghost types. :D

coolcatkim22 July 28th, 2012 6:53 AM

Probably grass since my name means "guardian of the meadow" or something to that effect.

OreoMaster July 28th, 2012 9:18 AM

Well my forum name doesn't bring to mind anything. My other internet name though, Kharma, clearly refers to Psychic types. Um, it's Kharma like Karma so it has to be psychic.

My real name, well, it's Greek so you won't get it anyway, means star in a way so again Psychic isn't it? I mean Cosmic Power is a psychic move and it has to do with the universe and stars so yeah.

But I prefer Dark or Water types.

bwburke94 July 28th, 2012 9:35 AM

It's pretty obvious that the name "Brendan" doesn't bring any type to mind. So what's the most monotyped type in Hoenn?

NintendoQueen July 28th, 2012 1:03 PM

My real first name is Arielle [yes like the Little Mermaid] so maybe water type.
Oh and also, Arielle---Aerial [even though it's not pronounced that way X_x], so maybe flying type would work too.

Arma July 29th, 2012 12:07 AM

Arma, meaning weapon would probably stand for the fighting or steel type.

My real name Marciano, which mean martian btw -.-, would probably indicate psychic/dark.

Meh, I'm sticking with Arma...

Know-Nothing Bozo the Non-Wonder Dog July 29th, 2012 8:11 PM

I think my real name would suggest a normal-type specialist.

And with my nickname, Nikita, I'm thinking dark type. (Which I do like much better than the normal type. But I really prefer poison type Pokemon.)

Gawld July 29th, 2012 8:38 PM

i'd say my real name could suggest water type or maybe even electric. hard to tell with my name.

Katie the Friendly Ghost July 29th, 2012 9:19 PM

I am named after a Psychic member of the Elite Four, so yeah.

And my username obviously suggests the Fire type. Obviously.

Plumpyfoof July 29th, 2012 11:16 PM

Norah? I'm getting an ice type vibe from it or normal because NORah.
On the other hand flip it around and you get Haron and Aron is a steel type? Also sorta reminds me of Haxorus so there could be some dragon in there as well.

I'm stretching here I guess hah.

Zagan July 30th, 2012 4:13 AM

Well, my real name has already been covered in this post, so lets go with my forum name, Zagan - the only thing i can think of is electric as zag (as in zig zag, like how lighting normally looks lol) but Zagan (where i found it) is like a king among demons, so maybe ghost or dark types?

rayan.b August 6th, 2012 1:01 PM

although steel is my fave type the name rayan suggests the water type because in arabic it means "never thirsty" and it comes from a word that describes the feeling of drinking when thirsty it might also suggest one of the magical types like dragon psychic or flying because its also the name of one of the gates of heaven ( in islam there are 7 gates and "rayan" is the gate that the people who fast inter through it )
i still like the water type a lot ^.^

dyenguard August 10th, 2012 8:33 AM

Im not sure what "Mackenzie" can relate to, but it sounds like a name that an electric type user would have. The "zie" part of my name sounds electrical.

Ageha1304 August 10th, 2012 11:39 AM

I'm not really sure. My name is Agnes which originally means "purity", however I've also seen that in some cultures it means "fire", so I guess Fire-type.

Harmonious Fusion August 10th, 2012 9:50 PM

My real name means "lamb", so I guess I'd be using a lot of Mareep and Whimsicott. o n o

But my forum name implies a pretty balanced team.

blondambition August 21st, 2012 2:38 PM

Well with blond being yellow, I would say my forum name would go with electric.

I'm not sure with my real name (jordan) any suggestions?

Tyrantrum August 21st, 2012 4:34 PM

My name is Michael; it's an extremely common name, therefore it obviously specializes in very common types: Normal-types! I don't mind, though, because I like a lot of Normal-type Pokémon. It helps that my all-time favorite Pokémon is a Normal-type. X) And even though there aren't a ton of Bug-types, I think they're quite common, as well, so I think bugs would be another specialization. So, I guess a Bug- & Normal-type trainer? XD Personally, however, I'd use any type.

Ninjagon August 22nd, 2012 2:00 AM

My forum name refers to 'Ninja Hydreigon' Both are Dark Types to me.
My real name, however is Zac. It isn't a very common name, so I think the Ice Type, as they have the least amount (I think xP) I might be a Fire Type, thats just what 'Zac' screams to me.

Bourne-mouth August 22nd, 2012 2:49 AM

My real name would suggest I'm a user of Fire types, because my real name (not telling) is related to Mars, which is the closest planet to the sun, as everyone knows. Although I could say I'm a Dragon user as well.

Nhadala August 22nd, 2012 12:45 PM

my real name mean Pearl or Little Pearl so water types.
I prefer fire types though

Grif of Hearts August 22nd, 2012 2:55 PM

At first glance, absolutely nothing.

But then I remembered my real name is actually a type of tree, which would likely mean I'd be a Grass type Pokemon trainer. Which is wonderful, actually. I happen to love Grass types, and if Pokemon happened to be real I'll likely bring along plenty of Grass Pokemon.

My username however? I suppose that the 'Hearts' part would suggest Normal type Pokemon. Why? It reminds me of Whitney with all of her pretty pink outfits, and she used plenty of Normal type Pokemon. Grif, however, sounds similar to Griffin. Griffins fly, so that might suggest Flying types.

Squirrel August 22nd, 2012 3:44 PM

AlexOzzyCake uhh... I've been told lots that "Ozzy" sounds a lot like a Bug type trainer, and Cake is sweet and sugary which Bug types would love, so I'm gonna go with Bug. n.n

yaminokaabii August 22nd, 2012 3:55 PM

Yami of Kaabii is Japanese for Kirby of Darkness, so of course that would suggest Dark....

My real name, however, is Christina - er, follower of Christ? I guess that would be... holy-ish? Ghost or something? I have no idea.

Ninjagon August 22nd, 2012 9:19 PM

Um, i don't know if that was a joke or sarcasm, but Mercury is the closest, lol.

pleb August 23rd, 2012 1:16 AM

Mine doesn't specialize any type.

allaurarenee August 23rd, 2012 2:39 AM

My real name is in my username "Allaura" pronounced Uh-Lar-Uh. I have no idea what that name sounds like.. any ideas?

I mean my mom named me after the princess Alaura from the movie "Willow".. So maybe Dragon, Psychic, or Grass?

PikachuAddict September 4th, 2012 7:32 AM

My real name, Richard, means rule hard, so I guess I'd either be a Rock-type or a Ground-type trainer.

My forum name would suggest Electric-types. While the other name I name I use frequently would suggestion Dark-types or Steel-types.

Damsel September 4th, 2012 9:29 AM

My name means "lighthouse" or "a beacon of light" so I'm definitely thinking Ampharos. Electric.
But another meaning of my name is a sweet alcohol, and there was a song about a woman with my name and a man who was a sailor.. Lighthouse + Alcohol + Sailors lover makes me think water.
So... Water or electric.

Miau September 4th, 2012 9:39 AM

My real name means "of the sea" so I'd say Water-types. My username means "meow" so cats :D

Zoe Arewell September 5th, 2012 12:22 PM

Let's see...my real name is Mori which sounds kind of dim so I would have to say either Dark-Type or Ghost-Type Pokemon

rageahollic33 September 5th, 2012 1:44 PM

My real name is Keith and the pokemon I would choose is Fire type because it sounds like Heat.

CriticalKYUC September 5th, 2012 1:49 PM

Critical.

Dark type, because Super Luck, of course if I was a Gym leader, it'd be based on Critical Hits, so Farfetch'd would be allowed.

Intentional reference to Pokémon XD? You start with Eevee, get Teddiursa early, and can snag some bugs early on.

Of the three original meanings I've seen for the name (mine as well), are Prince, Sword and Little Raven. The only of those that make much sense for a type would be Little Raven, which could be Flying or even Dark type (or both, like Murkrow and Honchkrow).

Other than that, I would have to agree with whatever the stereotypical monotype for Hoenn is.

poke-world September 22nd, 2012 6:45 PM

I'm guessing Water types? Otherwise, I'd probably say Grass types, as my name does come from the word olive, which would mostly relate to Grass types, I guess :p

Bounsweet September 22nd, 2012 6:55 PM

Electric-types fo sho.

Possibly Bug-types because of Azalea, but when I picked that name it really had no connection to Azalea Town. I just really like the flower lolol.

The Grubby Pup September 22nd, 2012 7:02 PM

Grass Type. Those Pokemon have always been my favorite. Since I choose a Chikorita on my Silver Version. I'm always choosin' da grass starter on every Pokemon game I play; it's usually be my first playthrough, however.

Ω Ruby and α Sapphire September 23rd, 2012 12:30 AM

Hmmm, i'll use my PC name for this one. Zupplu sounds like a good name for an electric trainer!
