Whitney VS Jasmine
Who do you think was harder?
I know most people will say Whitney and her Miltank, but Jasmine's Steelix was much more of a challenge for me, as I didn't choose Cyndaquil that often. |
Whitney VS Jasmine
Whitney is tough, but Jasmine's Steelix is really highly leveled. Even though I usually pick Cyndaquil Jasmine is a much harder battle because her Steelix knows Rock Throw.
In terms of difficulty, Whitney with her Miltank because.. well I think we all know the answer to that.
This is...random. lol I always have a Fire type, so Jasmine has never been that hard for me. But I don't always have trouble with Whitney either. I'll just go ahead and say Whitney I guess. I like Jasmine better though because she makes the - clang! - Steel type sound awesome.

I'd have to say Jasmine as well, mainly because of that damn Steelix. To defeat Whitney, I always just traded a Drowzee for a Machop in one of the houses in Goldenrod, meaning the battle was always very simple.
For me, Whitney's Miltank. I never really had any problems with Jasmines Steelix.
Whitney was easily the greater challenge for me on both Silver and Soul Silver at the time, only when I spammed Growl and Tail Whip did I stand a chance of beating that Miltank with my Onix after sacrificing my Noctowl and Furret. Jasmine was notable though but I had Typhlosion to deal with her thankfully.
They were both tough opponents, but I have to go with Whitney and her darn Miltank and Rollout! I mean, Jasmine and her Steelix were a challenge, but yeah. I always chose Cyndaquil (apart from Crystal where I chose Chikorita, but I'm not up to Whitney yet) so Jasmine wasn't too much of a problem.
I'd have to say Whitney and her Miltank were more difficult because of her abusing Milk Drink and Stomp flinch hax. Jasmine's Magnemite are often annoying to deal with as well with STAB Thunderbolt and Thunder Wave, I normally have a Water type by then, so Steelix is easier.
Whitney's Miltank all the way, sweeties. However for me, I think it was just bad luck. She used Attract and Rollout, and the infactuation ALWAYS kicked in, and Rollout ALWAYS hits, and you know what happens continuously connects. -.-
I lost to a little girl with pink hair using a pink cow, thus making her my favorite gym leader! XD |
With Whitney, you could only get like one fighting Pokemon to easily trump Miltank. With Jasmine, you could have Water, Fire, Ground, or by then a larger pool of fighting Pokemon to choose from. So I always thought Jasmine was easier.
I'd say Whitney was harder than Jasmine, especially with her Miltank and its frequent use of Attract and Rollout. Then again, Jasmine is pretty close, with her Steelix.

Whitney and her Miltank. I had to start again many times before beating her, while Jasmine never gave me any trouble, really. I even think she was one of the easiest gym leader.
Hmmm... unless I have Geodude, I always have trouble with Miltank, and unless I have Ampharos (with Fire Punch) or Feraligatr I always have trouble with Steelix. I'd say Steelix is a smidge more difficult, if only because fire types get hit hard by Steelix' Rock Throw and Ground types get annihilated by Iron Tail, whereas Miltank's main strategy can be stopped more easily by just using Smokescreen or Thunder Wave.
Anyway, we all know that generally, Clair's Kingdra is the hardest Gym Leader. |
It's always Miltank that gets me whenever I replay my Gold version. Even if I don't start with Cyndaquil, I'll usually have a Fire-type (preferably Arcanine) by the time I fight Jasmine. With Whitney, though, it is always a daunting task fighting against her.
Whitney and that Miltank made me stop playing for weeks -_-
Whitney and Miltank were harder.
Whitney almost never gave me trouble, except when she spammed Milk Drink. Other than that, she wasn't too bad, I guess. The same goes for Jasmine, because I always packed Cyndaquil or Totodile, and they both have type advantages, so she wasn't that bad either. But I voted for Jasmine because I like her better, and her Steelix can actually do damage on me, while Whitney was more of a pain to battle because of how durable that Miltank is.
WHITNEY is easy as pie, I mean, get a well trained GEODUDE, and she's done like dinner.
JASMINE is easy as long as your have a decent fire type to melt her metal. Or heavy-duty Ground-type. Water works too. |
I'd say Whitney, partly because I found her Miltank far more difficult to dispose of than Jasmine's Steelix. Although, if you managed to obtain a Machop and trained it properly, both Whitney and Jasmine would be a walk in the park.
Jasmine was usually a challenge, though she wasn't as move abusing and spamming as Whitney. I mean, Jasmine wasn't super hard as long as you had a decent Fire, Ground or Fighting type Pokémon, though Whitney on the other hand was tough as a nail unless you had a Pokémon with Fighting type moves or if your Pokémon high-leveled, female and had some strong moves, because Clefairy spamming Attract as well as her Miltank spamming you with Stomp making you flinch all the time and healing itself with Milk Drink were both just really hard to beat.
So I'd definitely say Whitney, just because I've always had a much harder time beating her than Jasmine. |
Whitney's Miltank. I had no problem defeating Jasmine.
I never really found either of them to be that challenging, whether through pokemon choice or moves, I dunno. But really, I'd have to say Whitney and her Miltank.
It was tough to choose, but you can easily lower Miltank's stats without suffering too much but as for Steelix, everyone fainted except my Feraligatr!
whitney all the way
whitney kicked my but multiple times but when i leveled up my typhlosion i kicked that steelix's but like hardcore ~green
Whitney made me break by gameboy, but Jasmine wasn't that hard since I always had my Poliwrath!
Well Jasmine is always over leveled for me but Whitney is way harder in comparison even when you're not at a lower level that her main Pokemon, especially with the Miltank's moveset :<
In my case, Whitney's Miltank. I always had difficulties with it everytime I face it. I never had any issues with Jasmine's Steelix or any of her Pokemon whatsoever.
Jasmine's type has distinct weaknesses one will have access to by the time she is fought. I'm not necessarily referring to Fire and Ground; consider also Steelix's weakness to Water, monsters of which type one can find in abundance near Olivine... obviously use something else for the Magnemites, or Quagsire.
With Whitney, as I've said elsewhere I find using an Onix to be the best idea, but the utility of her team presents a challenge whatever one does. |
Miltank. GAAAAH. Just die already you fat cow!
It was miltank. That was only the third gym, and by that point you're really not very well equipped for a battle against a high HP/DEF Pokemon like that. Not to mention I HATE infatuation. I use Chikorita and do just fine against Steelix.
Although I never really found any battle hard, Whitney would be a lot harder. Once, someone said, "You didn't get ANYTHING Super Effective against her!". Which is why Jasmine is much easier. Also, Steelix wasn't hard, because both Water and Fire-Types were Super Effective against it, and you could get a wide range of those through battles. Whitney was a Normal-Type Specialist, and there is ONE way you can get through her easily. Training only your starter in battles.
Whitney is my choice. Since almost every time I replay pokemon gold/silver Whitney manages to beat me at least once with milktank alone. The first time I beat her on my first time was when I evolved my wooper into a quacksire then I could beat her with little problem. Jasmine on the other hand I was easily able to beat with a chikorita as a starter.
Whitney, Whitney, a thousand times Whitney.
Jasmine is just.. not a threat, since by that stage you'll probably have your starter in it's final form, and a few other things that could take down Steelix. The Magnemite aren't a real threat anyway, IMO. Whitney on the other hand, was a nightmare when I was a kid. She was at a point in the game JUST when you were getting quite comfortable with your team, with a good ol' starter to kick anything's ass. This is how I felt when I first challenged her, then Quilava's moves didn't do all that much. Then of course, Rollout happened. It's just.. too good. Milk Drink and Rollout made it a force to be reckoned with, whereas Whitney's Steelix was usually a OHKO job. |
Whitney for sure. By the time you face Jasmine you've had time to train a crapton and you have a lot more options for Pokemon who can deal heavy damage (Ground-types, Fire-types).
Whitney and her Rollout Miltank is just... ugh, on the other hand. |
I found Whitney and Miltank to be harder to beat because of my starter choice.
Quote:
In G/S it was Whitney. 90% of the time, I'd win with just one pokemon left, and usually he's in the red. In HG/SS, poor girl, she got nerfed down to nothing. Her Miltank in that game is a minor annoyance, small threat at most. In HG Bugsy was the pain in the ass to beat. |
Tbch, I didn't really find either that hard :x I don't get the whole deal with Whitney's Miltank being so hard, but that's probably because I tend to train Pokémon that are good against it and that Rollout doesn't hurt much haha. Although in saying that, I didn't find Steelix hard for the same reason. So I'm gonna go with Jasmine, but that's based on her whole team rather than just Steelix since that Pokémon was usually just OHKO'ed :3
TNTrice2012
Steelix 100% no doubt! steelix would sweep
Still whitney- I got charmander for jasmine's steelix.
Whitney because nothing's more frustrating than her Miltank using Rollout constantly and then healing itself with Milk Drink. Jasmine wasn't very hard for me.
I say Jasmine because Jasmine have Steelix and Steelix is harder to beat
Jasmine was always a challenge, but I would generally have one of my pokemon know dig and over-train it so it could take out that steelix. the magnemites and their thunderbolt was harder for me, because a 'mites special is so high. for me, whitney is the toughest, generally because you don't have a great type advantage that early, HOWEVER, you could trade for that machop in the mart and train it excessively.
in conclusion, that miltank is a pest. whitney was harder. if only you had a magmar with dynamic punch and fire punch... lol you'd take them both out no prob. too bad dynamic punch isn't available that early. i thought chuck was tougher than both of them though. that dynamic punch hits more than it misses with him, for some reason. and my pokemon ALWAYS hits himself in confusion. with the right team, neither gym leader is tough. none of them are, actually. they are just annoying! rollout, milk drink, steel tail, its all annoying, but it can be handled somewhat easily. just my two cents. |
Well the steelix was gym 6. Not gym 3. I had a much more well rounded and higher leveled team by that point in the game. Thats is why Miltank was always harder for me.
I used to always get destroyed by Whitney's Miltank's Rollout. Especially after two or three hits.
I've never had a problem with Jasmine, I always used Typhlosion/Feraligatr as my leader. |
I usually always had a Water Pokemon by the time I reached Jasmine so I never had a problem with her. Perhaps once or twice, but not anytime that I can remember. While I don't remember the details I'm pretty sure that Whitney was always more of a pain because I almost never have a fighting or rock pokemon with me.
I picked Whitney cos her Miltank is very overpowered for that stage in the game, and Miltank is one of my fave Normal-types too.
Steelix was a piece of cake compared to Miltank. I never really had a problem with Steelix because I would have a Feraligatr and he would know water type moves. Miltank on the other hand was so annoying with the move rollout; she would keep using that move even if it kept missing my Pokemon. I also did not like Whitney's personality of being a sore loser and she should not be a gym leader.
:t354:TG |
Growlithe laughs as he annihilates all of Jasmine's pokemon with fire wheel. I don't understand how anyone can find Jasmine to be hard. One fire type pokemon will rock her whole team.
Jasmine's Steelix can't even be compared with Whitney's Miltank. That cow can take more beating than most steel type Pokemon can!
Whitney and her Miltank. For sure. Though Jasmine and how party were pretty tough as well, just not as tough. Oh how I remember spending so many hours as a kid stuck in Goldenrod city just trying to train my Pokemon to even compare to hers.
I didn't have any trouble with Whitney nor Jasmine. But I guess I would have to choose Whitey. At the first time, her Milktank beat up my Pidgeotto.
Whitney and Miltank I dreaded when I replay any Johto game I now have this thing where I get all my pokemon usually 3 or 4 by this stage up to Lv30 just to avoid complications this generally means I spend an extra couple of hours riding my bicycle along Goldenrod City waiting for my Lv29 Croconaw so I can level him up and evolve him/her.
Whitney's Miltank is much more difficult. My Magmar took down Jazz's Steelix easily, while it took me several times to take down Miltank.
Whitney's Miltank! It has destroyed me like every single time I play G/S/C and HG/SS. Jasmine's Steelix sure is high-leveled, but if you pick Totodile or Cyndaquil, it will be a walk in a park, but if you choose Chikorita, you will have to have a ground move.
I thought it was a who's more cuter/prettier contest, I would have voted for Jasmine, damn it, that title's confusing. |
I took down whitney with my HM Slave Furret. I Taught her Defense Curl and rollout and I took my anger out on Clefairy and my last rollout KO'd Miltank in one hit.
I don't remember either of them being hard honestly XD
For me it was definitely miltank. Steelix was alright, but until then my pokemon were trained enough to take him on, so it wasn't nearly as hard has Miltank.
Jasmine, becuz that Magnemite beat poor Slowbro and that steelix was a powerhouse. As for Whitney and Miltank... I landed in a critical hit, so I guess I got lucky.
Don't revive old threads please!
