Skyla vs Elesa
These weekly polls are a little different to the past ones. In these polls, I'll give you the details in regards to each team - then you choose your favourite! Note that this'll include Elite Four, too. However I'd also like it if some discussion was sparked by "WHO WOULD WIN" - in other words...http://i.imgur.com/mqL58.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/6219A.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/6vDMe.png SKYLA http://i.imgur.com/CFKzk.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/6Iix2.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/Q1Iks.png ELESA http://i.imgur.com/pX8py.png http://i.imgur.com/pX8py.png http://i.imgur.com/tkgG8.png DISCUSSION QUESTIONS Is there any way on earth Skyla could defeat Elesa? What strategies could she put in place? Do you believe with her skill in the games it shows she could win? So pick your favourite, then discuss how a battle between the two would play out! |
I decided to vote for the unlikely Skyla this time. I believe there is a way for Skyla to defeat Elesa in battle, despite having a massive type disadvantage. If we are going by the in-game teams, then Skyla could quite possibly win because of her Pokémon's higher levels. The extra eight levels could make a huge difference in the outcome of the battle. I think because of this, going for all out attacking is the best option, as a most likely higher speed stat will mean she can get a hit in first. Also if we consider her skills from the anime, she did say that she knew how to counter electric type Pokémon, meaning she would be anything but a piece of cake.
|
I went with Elesa not only because of her looks, but also because she has the type advantage over Skyla.
But given that Skyla is several levels ahead of Elesa, I guess the former could win by having her Swanna spam BubbleBeam (or some other Water STAB). |
I voted for Elesa cos I love her design and I love Electric-types better than Flying.
As for a strategy Skyla could use against Elesa, she can rely on her Swanna's Water-type attacks (due to STAB). Also, the level advantage comes into play. |
Skyla lvs and in bw2 world tornament she has a trophis also with skydrop elesa can't touch her
|
Skyla, not only because of her looks, but Unfezant can flinch Elesa's pokes easily with Air Slash

However, as for me I prefer Skyla too because she's always had the better design. XD; But as for battle-wise? Elesa would probably win easily. :x She'll just Volt Switch like crazy!! And yeah... Skyla's birds will be fried, unfortunate, really. I don't think even power as others have said would really help her out much tbh. |
Sure, Elesa has the type advantage, but I think Skyla would also have an advantage because of her higher levels. I went with Skyla on this one mainly because she is my favourite gym leader of B/W (and was fun to battle against).
|
Elesa.
She has a type advantage over Skyla. Even though Skyla is a few levels higher I still think Elesa would win. Plus I prefer Electric types so much more than flying. :P |
I chose Elesa. Here's why.
For these kinds of comparisons, I imagine that the teams are at the same level. I thus take into account type weaknesses in these analyses. Skyla has on her team a Swoobat, an Unzefant, and a Swanna. While I like Swanna with Surf (and abuse that move in battle in addition to using it for its obvious purpose), the fact remains that Swanna is a water type, weak to Electric. Also, Swoobat is weak to Electric attacks, and Unzefant. Since all three of Skyla's Pokémon are weak to Electric, I have to say Elesa wins a battle of equal-leveled Pokémon. To an earlier comment, flinching is not 100%. I got lucky in a low-level battle in another game and got four flinches in a row once in my favour, but it's not always that easy. Cyclone |
This is a difficult decision for me since I like both leaders, but I voted for Elesa. She does have that type advantage over Skyla (if you were to put the two together in a battle) and because of her tricks when battling. For me, I like a challenging gym leader to battle, and with Elesa using Emolga's Volt Switch, it creates a challenge for the leader to be defeated at first.
|
Ooh! Finally some characters. My vote goes for Skyla, even though I love these two I'm always more lenient towards flying types and I just think she's a better leader.
|
I'll be blunt with this. Both of them are really gorgeous, & are more than enough to make a straight guy sweat &/or blush (of course, I'm not a straight guy.)
However, when it comes to the strength of their teams, Elesa has Skyla in a choke-hold. Her dual Emolgas can put their troll faces on for any trainer that dares challenge them, & their only real weakness is rock & ice, & rock-type Pokémon aren't one that needs the speed EVs that Emolgas give. Those two by themselves are enough to send Skyla's team reeling if the two of them were to face off in the field. So, I'm going with Elesa. |
I love both gym leaders. They are both very cute. But I went with Skyla, since Elesa's new design pretty disappointed me. Then, I prefered Skyla's gym, using the cannons was funny. And, anyway, I prefer the Flying-type over the Electric-type.
Unfortunately for Skyla, I think there's no way she could win to Elesa with this team. At least not if their Pokémons are the same levels. Maybe a psychic attack from Swoobat could have beaten one of her Pokémon, but that's not even sure. By the way, this new kind of weekly pool is great, extending the votes to characters was a good idea. |

I've never really liked either of them but I went with Elesa cause of her type advantage and cause she's blonde like me lol.

unless skyla somehow gets some pokemon like a gliscor (which is partflying) i dont think she will win against elesa.Sure theres the level difference but the type advantage is just too apparent to ignore. (UNLESS somehow swoobat gets massive hax help with confuse ray/attract)

Glad she's winning as favourite though. :) |

Skyla! Definitely. I like flying types better than electric ones so maybe I'm a bit biased, but I also like Skyla's design better, though I wish she would have had more of a part in the storyline (Elesa convinced Bianca's dad to let her continue, though that wasn't really a big part it just made her seem more of a character and less of a standard gym leader). Like maybe have her fly you in a plane to some island you can't normally get to alone, like maybe it could have been the Genesect event? idk, it would have been cool.
Elesa would win IMO, her Pokemon don't only have the advantage but they're fast too (as are flying types, but still... her freakin' Emolgas). |
Sorry but I vote for Elesa because I like her and Electric type. Of course I like Skyla too but against Elesa's team, she's got a big disadvantage especially with her Swanna 4x weakness to electric attack. In anime, maybe Skyla can turn out to win the battle if she battle against Elesa but there's no way she can beat Elesa in the game. Beside, 2 Emolgas can be really annoying to Skyla's team with their Volt Switch.

I definitely like Elesa better than Skyla in terms of design. Though I do believe Skyla has better variety in Pokémon - why did Elesa have to be given two Emolga? One wasn't enough? :( I think both were given cute roles in the storyline too, with Elesa helping Bianca further her journey by convincing her dad to let go. Skyla's role wasn't that important, but better than just being in her gym ready to battle.
As for a battle between the two? Well Elesa's definitely the automatic win here! Those three birds have no story to tell. The only strategy Skyla could try to do is well I guess use fly a bunch of times to have Elesa's electric type moves miss. lol I don't know. :( Poor birds! |
