Oh hai! Welcome to the club!

Also, I might be mistaken but wasn't it Gengar and Clefable?

Anyway, the current topic is now~

What's your favorite type of creepypasta?

Welcome, Mononoke Hime(may I call you mono?)

Topic: What is your favorite type of creepypasta?

I love stuff that involves death, torture, glitches, and...maybe Lavender Town? Also, some stuff that involves missing data/part of a puzzle. Idk how, but those things always send chills down my spine. Here's an example of a favorite:

OMG, I totally mistook! Yeah, is Clefable! These pink rounded pokemon... ><

Anyway, I don't really know all types of creepypasta, so I'm not able to answer this topic by now. I entered this fan club because I want to know more about creepypastas.

That is a really nice list there...

Welcome to all new members...remember, JOIN before posting!!

Also, this is kind of random, but a totally ridiculous conspiracy I sort of made up is~

Cyrus is a villain with blue hair who, the last time you see him, is in a parallel dimension.
Can you think of any OTHER blue haired multidimensional villains?
...
Yup.
Thought you would

^_^

Olli November 12th, 2012 6:13 AM

Interesting theories there, but most of them were some I've already known of prior to reading it. It's still nice to get your memory refreshed a bit though ^^

As for blue haired multidimensional villains, the only one I can think of other than Cyrus is Noah from Yu-Gi-Oh, but I don't know if that exactly fits it :p

Necrum November 16th, 2012 8:31 PM

I'm also drawing a blank on the Blue-Haired multi-dimensional villains.

Zayphora November 17th, 2012 10:17 AM

Ugh. It's so annoying when your favorite character is someone no one has ever heard of. Even more annoying is when you're embarrassed that you brought it up. Just forget it. I was talking about Kcalb xDDDD alright enough idiocy from me just forget I ever said it okay?

Anyway, new question.

Do you like Creepy Black or Lost Silver better?

Olli November 17th, 2012 10:46 AM

Eh, I like both of them a lot, but I feel like Creepy Black left more of an impact on me in terms of being scary. Both had an eerie feel to them while reading, and both are some of the more notable creepy pastas I've read, but Creepy Black just kinda felt more scary somehow. I can't say why, and I admit that I feel like Lost Silver had a whole lot more to it, but I didn't feel quite as scared reading through as I did with Creepy Black. In terms of how the creepypastas were written, Lost Silver definitely takes the cake, as it had a good story, that was able to get me caught in it, and it was also pretty believeable, seeing as it's something that could easily be implemented in a ROM Hack.

But yeah, I feel like Creepy Black gave me more of what I want with creepy pastas, even though it might not have been the most well written of the two.

Freddy Fazbear November 17th, 2012 11:58 AM

(Some people are gonna hate me for this) I never thought Lost Silver was too terribly creepy. I mean, I always thought it was so... stereotypical of a Pokemon pasta. Course, that might be because it set the stereotype, but I just thought Creepy Black was better. Plus it had some moral lesson to it, I think.

Zayphora November 18th, 2012 6:28 AM

Personally, I've always liked Creepy Black better, maybe because I just really like GHOST and Red and never really have been that into Gold, but Lost Silver was certainly interesting, to say the least. It was the first creepypasta I ever read, Lost Silver, and I don't dislike it, but for some reason I've always been drawn towards Creepy Black.

On a different note, I saw THIS on the Pokemon Clubs board banner today!

Drgons90 November 19th, 2012 11:31 AM

Do you like Creepy Black, or Lost Silver better?

Hmm. Those 2 are by far one of the creepiest I've read. I prefer Lost Silver because of the "unknown(no, not unown)" feeling it gives. I'm also quite a fan of glitches. I don't know why, but they creep me the most. The best part would be the part where the room gets darker as you go through, and the LEAVE HURRY part.

imevil November 23rd, 2012 1:33 PM

Well, since the club has been inactive recently , I'll bump it with a question.
Was there ever any Creepypasta's that after reading you just sat down and thought about it's true meaning, the message it was trying to show.
For me Lost Silver and the Joey ones. They just show how far people will go for power.

Zayphora November 23rd, 2012 1:57 PM

Good question!

The one that made me think the most was...Loss of Purpose. Anything with a message like that is just...you know? I do wonder about NPCs. That's why I did my contest entry on a similar topic.

Olli November 23rd, 2012 5:19 PM

Not really actually. Most creepypastas are mostly straight to the point, and bring up the scary stuff through the experience of the player (the majority of the ones I've read were people playing the games), so there's usually not any message it's trying to convey. Others, like Lost Silver, just straight out tells you the message of the whole thing, so there isn't much to leave you pondering about from there. So I can safely say that I haven't really thought about the message of some of the stories, unless I've realised it pretty quickly, though I've probably missed loads due to them either being too cryptic or due to a lack of interest from my side.

I'm kinds getting tired of the 'find/buy Pokemon game, something creepy happens, particular Pokemon acts stalkerish, Pokemon turns against player, something creepy happens in real life, all other Pokemon die, death threats to player, player never plays have again' stories, especially the ones that mention creepy pasta itself. Kind of ruins the thrill of it to me. Though one of these types I did enjoy was 'Snow on Mt. Silver'.

As for the topic, I prefer the theory that Ash has been living in his eternal happiness after seeing Ho-oh.

I agree totally. Unfortunately, this seems to be the default plot for creepypasta. It bothers me too, believe me. That's why I prefer some of the more nontraditional pastas like Loss of Purpose and pretty much anything about Missingno...but to be honest most creepypastas follow that pattern. The specific one you're describing seems to be a Revenge-pasta sort of thing. But an exceptional pasta I've read involving the "messed up game that I bought" pattern is "N's Rage" because it just incorporates so much awesome into one thing. I reccomend it.

Quote:

I've always liked that one. I think it makes the most sense. The coma thing is a bit far fetched, but it's certainly one explanation. Another strange one I've heard is that Ash is Red's mentally disabled brother. That's just not true.

Squidchan December 14th, 2012 7:18 PM

Thank you :)

And thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely check it out. Right now I'm going alphabetically through the poke pasta wikia page, and I'm up to G. I feel like I need to read all of them just in case one of the above types is actually good.

The Ho-oh theory just make me feel so good and happy. The coma theory just makes me feel kinda sad... The brothers theory I think I read was proven false, and considering you never see Ash in the game or Red in the shows, that gives you the answer.

Do you like Minecraft? There's a bunch of stuff about that...namely HIM 0_0 yeah...I keep recommending Loss of Purpose and that other one which was interesting "Door's Open"...or if you're looking for something long, and you like LoZ then maybe BEN DROWNED...yeah. There's another one called "White Death" or "Muerto Blanca" that used to freak me out...and then there's an interesting Pokepasta called "Perfect" it's basically another Revenge-style pasta but I like the way it's written.

What do you like/dislike seeing in a creepypasta?

Squidchan January 1st, 2013 4:13 PM

Ah, sorry Zay, it's the busy time of the year.

Welcome, Meiza!

As for the topic, if I begin to read a pasta and I see it's based in the Pokèmon world (as opposed to the task would where the pastas are about the games), I'll read on eagerly! The thing I dislike about a lot of pastas is when they are based in the game and then manifest into the real world. Especially when they tell me it really actually happened and to believe them... It seems so insulting to my intelligence.

Drgons90 January 3rd, 2013 12:04 PM

Welcome meiza542!

What do you like/dislike seeing in a creepypasta?

Well, let's see....

Likes:Death involved. Violence, distortion of images. Epic glitch. Lost episodes.
Dislikes:Ghost stuff, seriously they are extremely boring(except those that suddenly pop up). Zombies(some). "Adventure".

Zayphora January 9th, 2013 2:30 PM

Likes- Glitches, especially Missingno.; anything that involves inverted/reversed colors or characters, any retellings of famous pastas, as long as they're well written; things that occur within the Pokeworld itself instead of through a player who has a strange experience with a game, things in which the characters in a game "come alive" and realize that they are in a game, a la Glitchy Red.

Dislikes- Crappy Revenge-pasta, things where the game knows your real name, any pasta with tons of stereotypes (i.e. LT Music, missing arms, Curse) that are out of context, anything badly written, anything super-gory, dirty, or violent.

I'm picky! xD

Zayphora January 26th, 2013 3:42 PM

Okay. This club's been dead for quite a while, almost a month, and I'd like to bring up a new topic.
With the arrival of X&Y, do you think the creepypasta tradition will live on, or die out with the new generation?

Crux January 27th, 2013 2:16 PM

That's kind of a strange question, i'd imagine so. (Sorry, been really inactive!)
Hell, with the 3D aspect on the horizon prepare to see countless crappy 'they were sucked into the game/the character escaped from the game' pastas.
Some people just shouldn't write horror. :l

Olli February 15th, 2013 3:02 PM

With the arrival of X&Y, do you think the creepypasta tradition will live on, or die out with the new generation?

I don't see any reason to why pokepasta would die out, since it's not really anything that can ever have an end to it. There may be a chance that good creepypasta might die out, seeing how they kinda started to decline in quality with the fifth generation, however that's all about the writers, not the tradition.

As for the question, it will live on. Will good ones exist? We'll see if new writers turn up out of the younger generation where X/Y is either their second or third generation in their lifetime.

One of the creepiest things for Pokemon in my eyes isn't even a CreepyPasta really, its just there. Champion Red just standing there at the end of Silver/Gold I believe it is. You go through the whole game, whoop everyone, beat the elite league and reign supreme. Then you trek into the cave and he's just there.....No mention of him really prior, no motive for him to just be standing there, dead-like waiting for anything like a true challenge. He just seems like something you happened upon after the game and he holds on to the fact of being the true champion....

Almost inspires me to write a Creepy Pasta about it. Maybe about him being shunned from society after becoming power hungry. Beats the Elite Four for the first time, captures a Mewtwo, trains all his pokemon to high levels and ran rampant through the region destroying every trainer he came across. He was then run out of the region and forced to become reclusive in his cave just standing there thinking about the time when he had it all and how he IS the true pokemon league champion.

Olli February 17th, 2013 12:57 PM

I always find the sources of the creepy pasta to be the creepiest parts of any creepypasta to be honest, which is why those that are based on something actually creepy stuff within the games, always turn out to be the scariest ones. Because it's something we'll fear more when we play the games after reading them. At least in my opinion. The creepypastas that just take a Pokemon, mutilate them and give an in-depth description of how the Pokemon looks and make the creepypastas all about those, just don't scare me at all. I mean, it's just a desperate attempt, and doesn't make it feel like it could actually happen. Stories like "Come, Follow Me" made me so afraid of stepping into Route 1, even in my Leaf Green version, because what if. The final event of the story wasn't realistic in any way, but I still hated that one step for so long :(

YamaskUnchained February 17th, 2013 4:45 PM

Speaking of creepy sources, anyone know whats up with the random camper off to the side in Black, The Lady that doesn't want to be bothered. This is my first time encountering her in a playthrough on Black and she's....odd. There's the guy just staring at her camper, its off in a random corner with no special item or anything and when you speak to her she just says "..." like Red did on MT Silver. Then the guy just walks away after you speak to him and this is left untouched......

Her? She is part of the Zoroark Event. If you got the shiny legendary beasts trio from that one event, you were supposed to take it there and go up to that lady. She would transform into a Zoroark. In BW2, that whole area looks completely different because, supposedly, that Zoroark was using its illusions to change the appearance of that area. There's another guy there who explains it, and then unexpectedly transforms into a Zoroark and runs away.

I agree with you about Red. He's probably the most creepy, mysterious thing in all of Pokemon, just for the simple fact that the Red character used to be a player character, something you played the game through, and now he's been reduced to a silent boy on top of the mountain, waiting forever for you to challenge him. People who have belonged to this club for a while will know about me and my weird fascination with NPC's, and by far Red is one of the most interesting and easily creepy NPC's out there. It's like...after you stopped playing that 1st Gen game, he lost his...spirit or whatever, and he's jealous of Gold/Lyra because they have that "spirit" now, and that's why he kills Gold in Lost Silver...Jeez! I'm going to have to write that!

But, seriously, some of the best creepypastas I've ever read are about Red. Funny how a character with absolutely nothing to say can become the most fangirled-after character in Pokemon, within or without creepypastas.

Do you guys want to have another creepypasta contest? I'd be happy to host one.

Hey, sorry, I really should be more active in all the clubs i'm in. Y:

I think part of the trouble is that alot of people think pokemon is for kids, but it may well be lack of originality as well.
That one you wrote a while back for the contest was one of the best i've found for some time.
Sadly most of the ones I find get rather generic after reading so many, and that might be why Pokepastas are kinda hated. :s

Topic answer/input:
I agree with Rococo I think people hate pokepasta cause its all the same! You will get a good one, then the rest is the same. I went to GameStop and got a ok gameboy game and what do you know it turned out to be haunted. WHAT A SUPRISE!!

Zayphora April 10th, 2013 4:49 PM

Oh hey, welcome! Nice to have a new member after all this time. I seriously thought the club was gonna die for a second. Looks like we pulled a Rory and WE'RE BACK PEEPS!!!

I agree with both of you. It seems like the majority of pasta is about lame stories of finding a haunted cartridge or a vengeful childhood partner. In addition, the Pokepasta genre has gained the reputation of being all the same because all the really successful ones follow mainly the same format. Lost Silver, Creepy Black, Strangled Red...they all have the same framework, but fairly different topics. It stands that it's quite difficult to write a pasta on this framework not only because it's so common, but because it doesn't give you much to begin with. There's a reason that creepy black, lost silver, etc. are so well known- they stood out from the mass of unoriginal pasta. It takes a lot to get your work out there. If anyone is here still that remembers my pasta contest entry, then you'll recall that it was fairly well written, but not the most original and probably wouldn't have held its own out on the real Internet.

We see a lot of examples of cool, well-formulated pastas that don't get attention. Loss of Purpose, for instance, is really nicely written, and yet has very little fan support. N's Rage was a phenomenal pasta, but is extremely obscure. Same with the whole Kcalb thing. That originated as a prank 4youknowwhat post, and actually made it fairly far, mainly because it was featured in the webcomic Black Adventures, and could have made it farther if it got more publicity. Unfortunately, because when you think of Pokepasta, you think of Lost Silver and the other famous ones, that's all that gets fanservice and the rest, however good, gets forgotten.

And that's my rant. Which made very little sense. :P

Freddy Fazbear April 19th, 2013 4:06 PM

Speaking of back from the dead... I'M BAAAAACK! (Zayphora was that a DW reference?)

I just realized something: Have we ever talked about Tarnished Silver? I had a revival of creepypasta cravings and stumbled upon this one some time last year. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it yet... Anyways here's a link:
http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Tarnished_Silver

This is quite honestly one of the eeriest creepypastas I've ever read (I seriously hope I haven't already talked about this). It takes a lot of inspiration from Ben Drowned, but it's so much scarier and a little more ridiculous than the Majora's Mask creepypasta classic. No video though, which is okay. Tarnished Silver follows a different format than anything other classic pokemon pasta I've seen, although I'm sure there's something like this one somewhere (*cough cough tarnished gold cough*). Sure the haunted cartridge is a little overplayed these days, but still... I mean, I've heard this one called a classic before and it is interesting, and was followed up by a sequel which I forgot the name to and really don't mind because it was the same story pretty much.

Also, one more thing: I realize that the club is only kinda active, so i thought new creepypasta written by yours truly might liven things up... I've had a few ideas but nothing good, so does anyone have any suggestions?

Zayphora April 20th, 2013 7:43 AM

Yeah. I read Tarnished Silver a while ago, and I must admit it seems a lot like Ben Drowned. And I like Ben Drowned better. It had a cooler plot. Plus, the Tarnished Silver storyline just seemed a bit too ridiculous for my liking. But it was certainly interesting. Not really memorable.

I'd love it if people would post their creepypastas here! That sounds like a great idea to liven this place up.

And yes it was~

Zayphora April 21st, 2013 4:50 PM

Olli April 22nd, 2013 8:06 AM

It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't really say it was that good :/ It was written like it took place in the anime world, but used the game mechanics for Pokemon and battles and such, and that kinda annoyed me through the entire creepypasta. There were also a few things, which... didn't really make sense. An example being this:

Crystal decided, digging into the memories of all the pokémon books she had ever read, that this pokémon had been bred, and for some reason sent to Johto. But something struck her – they couldn’t breed over in Kanto. Breeding was something new that had been introduced in her generation

I don't see how Kanto can be an entire generation behind, unless you somehow travel back in time, everytime you cross the border to Kanto, and that still wouldn't explain why that'd mean they wouldn't be able to breed Pokemon xD This combined with the game mechanics, like how they aren't able to see when attacks miss, aside from the fact that they didn't damage the opponent, kinda made some parts a bit annoying to read. It was also super easy to predict what would happen, once she'd encountered the Ghost Pokemon, which is one thing I also don't like that much about creepypastas. It's more entertaining if its a surprise, which is why I'd enjoy a poorly written creepypasta with elements of surprise, rather than a predictable creepypasta.

But all in all, it wasn't a bad creepypasta, I've just seen better :p

Why do you think the concept of "being replaced" is very common in Pokemon creepypastas? Because its not very common in other games where you can delete the save file.
