The Leafy Forest v2.0 [Grass-Type Fan Club]

http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/275.gif

Introduction

Owner: Leaf Storm http://sprites.pokecheck.org/icon/153.png http://sprites.pokecheck.org/icon/542.png

Welcome to a quiet area of the Pokemon Clubs, an area filled with trees, green grass, and many flowers of all kinds. This is the Leafy Forest, version 2.0. Why version 2.0? I was the previous owner of the first version of the club back in 2011, but it was closed down because I was taking over other duties. But, I’ve reincarnated this club, and will make it better than ever. This club is for anyone who loves, cherishes, and adores any type of grass-type Pokemon. Whether you like to choose a grass-type starter, or a fan of certain types of moves or Pokemon in general, this is the club for you!

Bring your watering cans, and sunshine…you’ll need a lot of that!

Partner Pokemon & Level-Up System

You are to choose two Pokemon when you join the club. One of your Pokemon MUST be a starter. Why? Your starter Pokemon grows and evolves based on experience. So, when you begin, you start off with an unevolved starter Pokemon. Then, after 10 posts, your starter will evolve into your stage 1 form (aka Bulbasaur -> Ivysaur, Treecko -> Grovyle, etc). Your starter Pokemon will evolve into their final forms (Meganium, Serperior, etc) if you prove your activity, and/or contributiveness. That is based upon the decision of the owner of the club. So, it is important to be active!

Starters

For your 2nd Partner Pokemon, you may choose one of these grass-type Pokemon. Keep in mind that none of the starters and their evolved forms are not in this list.

Explain why you chose your two Pokémon
THESE WERE REALLY HARD CHOICES HOW DARE YOU EXPECT ME TO MAKE SUCH DIFFICULT DECISIONS. /pouts

*ahem* With the starter I was torn completely between Treecko and Snivy. I absolutely adore them both; they're everything that Grass types should be imo. They're agile, tricky, dexterous, sneaky and most of all they can take a punch. These are all qualities I associate largely with Grass type Pokémon and I feel that these two starters summarize them very well; as for how I decided between the two, Luke chose Treecko for me :p

Choosing a second Pokémon was also incredibly difficult, but easier :D I was stuck between Sewaddle (my favourite Grass type), Foongus (my second favourite), and Snover (it's just really cool and interesting xD), but I chose Foongus because it's just utterly adorable. Look up at it's sprite and tell me I'm wrong! The way it moves it's little arms around n'awwww <333 I've always loved Foongus from the start partially because it's freaking adorable, but also because I love Poison types (Grass/Poison in particular), so there wasn't much chance of me disliking the little mushroom Pokémon. I also love it's evolution because despite being a huge derp face, it's actually pretty cute and can make for an incredibly interesting team member in a battle (seriously, if you've never tried using an Amoonguss I definitely recommend it). The reason I chose it over the other two is simply because Snover's evolution is horrific and I fear that Sewaddle would be chosen by everyone and I'm vain like that. xD

I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND THAT CHOOSING A GRASS-TYPE STARTER IS DIFFICULT. I APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING THIS HARD. I mean, welcome aboard, you two! <3

Let's see. I chose Chikorita and Leavanny. Everytime I begin a playthrough on Silver or Soulsilver, I always choose Chikorita. Not Totodile, not Cyndaquil. I know that choosing a starter would not do much help in the 1st gym *sometimes*, but you can always train them. My Chikorita is easy to train, and always cooperates when in battle. :D

There's a different reason on why I chose Leavanny. When I first saw Sewaddle on the anime, I completely fell for it. Like...I wanted one for my game. So I went ahead and caught one at Pinwheel Forest. Trained it, and it evolved into a Swadloon. Back then, I wasn't fully aware of the whole new set of Pokemon, so I was sure that Swadloon was Sewaddle's final form. As Swadloon reached L26 in one battle, it evolved again. I was like "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE WHAT." And it evolved into a Leavanny. Alongside another Pokemon I had, it was my powerhouse Pokemon. :D Since then, it is considered as my second favorite grass-type Pokemon alongside Meganium. <3

Paha, that's the exact same reason I love Sewaddle. xD It's so freaking cute in the anime! The way it playfully swings from tree to tree and the nuzzling thing it does to communicate and sdljgd so cute! It's impossible not to fall in love with it x] One thing I am curious about though; how could you not have seen Leavanny if you'd watched that episode? They were in the same episode and it says Leavanny evolves from Sewaddle xD But yeah I agree, that episode does a lot for Sewaddle's appeal and really turned it into a lovable Pokémon indeed <3

Topic Answer: Turtwig is the only grass pokemon that is also part ground, which I love (cuz ground types rule). I love Torterra's name, design, moveset. (physical grass starter, what'll they think up next?! :P) and turtwig is adorable. As for Parasect, I love that pokemon! I LOVE spamming spore, and while not the best grass type (at least not in third gen which is where I used it) it's still an awesome pokemon with the grass typing so there!

As for sewaddle, aw man I love those guys! My leavanny was awesome (before she died in my nuzlocke) and was really strong. And sewaddle is so cute! :D

Meganium September 21st, 2012 10:45 PM

Welcome you three. <3 Great to see ya here in this serene forest. :D

I see we have another Chikorita fan here! Kudos to ShinyUmbreon. :D I adore the Chikorita family as well! I know it's a bit underrated when used during game, but you can contain its adorableness! :D

Thank you, Leaf Storm ^^.

May I start a new topic, if so......

Grass types, how often do you use them in the games?

ShinyUmbreon189 September 21st, 2012 11:18 PM

I wouldn't see a problem in starting a new topic. Were here to talk about Grass Pokemon in general right?

I don't use them all the time but during gameplay's I try to get ahold of one. In HG/SS I liked using Bellossom. Shes actually really good and I also like using Vileplume and Victrebell as well for FR/LG. In Platinum I liked using Roserade and in R/S/E I would try to use Shiftry or Ludicolo.

I might have a go with Sunflora or Parasect some time soon.

Guys just a note, the rules state "5. Any member here is more than welcome to start a topic. However, don’t start a new topic if the current one hasn’t died down for more than 1 day." so bare that in mind in future as the current topic was certainly not dead and shouldn't have been replaced yet, so it's up to Megan which topic she'd prefer to stay for now. :)

Woo, finally another Parasect fan! :D I love that over-grown mushroom, it's so much fun to use in-game and it's moves are really interesting for competitive battle :D Shame it dies incredibly easily to anything that's super effective against it because Parasect could be a proper tank if used against the right enemies :3 It's an adorable Pokémon and in my opinion it's very underrated, but I suppose based on it's stats not too many people would be open to trying it out xD Understandable tbh! But who wouldn't want a giant mushroom on their team? B)

Meganium September 22nd, 2012 8:03 AM

Um... thanks for that, OzCake xD Originally, I have plans to start "topic-discussing" until tomorrow. So MidnightShine, I'll keep your suggestion for tomorrow's first official topic. Right now, we are still discussing about our partner Pokemon. :D

With that, welcome aboard for those who just joined. Avishka, can you expand a bit on exactly why Lilligant is cute? Have you seen it in an anime episode? It is good @ battling? Anything like that? I'm really interested to see that.

Its line was all right to me at first, but eventually later down the line, something just "clicked" with me and Snivy. <3 Plus it can get pretty strong with Swords Dance + Leaf Blade, which is one of my favorite comboes.

Whimsicott is reallyyyy cute (like Snivy) and fluffy, plus really fun to play with! I love the moves it learns and can't seem to keep it off my team no matter what now. :DD

But yeah, I also adore Chikorita because it is really cute (yep, I love cute). It's rather weak and doesn't learn many good moves, but does make a decent wall in the game when evolved.

Treecko is one of my favorite non-legendary types of all time really for huge reasons. Where to start, the introduction to Leaf Blade giving grass types more viability throughout the series. The gecko design on the evo line makes me want to squee like a girl, and PMD2 Grovyle is just simply amazing.
Leafeon- being one of my favorite grass types of all time and also my favorite eeveelution Leafeon's design is just stunning for me. It's also quite reliable in battle as well as making a great companion for another Pokemon with it's back up support with moves like a sword dance and baton pass combination

Grass-Types, how often do you use them in the games?
I tend to use them quite a bit in playthroughs, actually. Grass is a really interesting type as it has a lot of weaknesses, but is strong against some very common types. So, I tend to use them in my playthroughs, usually every other time or so that I play the game I'd say. They're very useful, and I feel I don't always use a ton of grass types because a third of the time my starter is grass, so I try to keep my team balanced. I also try to never use the same pokemon twice (except occasionally starters) so if I've used the grass types I like in a game, then I won't use them again/use the ones I don't like as much.

halcyonic September 24th, 2012 2:43 AM

Well, for me? I'm a huge Grass-type user but less in BW. Grass types have helped me a lot so I really love Grass types. I tend to pick the Grass type starter in the games & use them till the end.

That was pretty fun so I've decided to do it again, haha. (My goal was to beat every game in every generation with Grass-type Pokemon, but I've sort of lost track of which games I've already beaten...)

I think Grass-types are really interesting; It's not as easy to beat a game with brute force using Grass-types (though it is certainly possible). I tend to use a lot of non-damaging moves when I play with a Grass Monotype team because I feel those types of moves are overlooked/underutilized (at least they were by me). Grass-type Pokemon have some of the best designs, too! It's really hard to choose a favorite...

I use Grass-types a lot, cos they come in handy against all those Trainers that use Water-types. Also, Grass-types are handy for catching Pokemon with cos they can inflict status effects, which is nice.

I often used them when I use my Sunny Day team with Ninetales. I like Leafeon & Venusaur a lot with them. I did like to use Virizion & Celebi for fun sometime in-game. Of course, as many Grass type Pokemon there are, I should probably think about creating a mono-type party sometime in the future in B/W2 x) I want to try out Lilligant with a Sunny Day team though but I haven't yet.

I personally love all the status moves grass types are able to learn. It's nice to have access to a sleep-inducer or paralyzer for your team, with moves that have pretty good accuracy. I also really enjoy using draining moves, they're super fun ingame for some reason. Plus, grass is just a helpful type offensively to have around, even though they aren't too great defensively (but that's where status moves help out) :D

What *do* you like about grass-types?

The things I love about Grass-types are their beautiful designs, the handy status moves they learn (which is handy for catching Pokemon), and the fact there's so many Water, Ground and Rock-types encountered throughout the game which makes having a Grass-type fun to have on your team. Also, while it may not be the best defensive type, all those status moves can help make up for that.

What *do* you like about grass-types?

They have some very useful moves that I love to have on my side, like Leech Seed and other status effects such as Stun Spore~! Also, their designs are amazing. They tend to provide a nice challenge in lots of Pokemon games too. <: But overall, grasses have great movepools and are useful for many things, especially status effects!

What *do* you like about grass types?

So many things I love about these natural creatures ^^. They can inflict several status conditions, like paralysis, poison and sleep. Their moves can be deadly, for example the mighty Leaf Storm :3 and Giga Drain. Stats for them are also high up,with amazing special attack and defense.

There designs are amazing, all of them I've loved :D.

Of course I will accept you into this club! No doubt about that! Welcome aboard! It seems that Sunny Day is very helpful to grass-types, especially with the move Solarbeam, even though it is considered a fire-type move, it's a best friend to every grass-type.

oh it get betters I was born in may so green is my birth-color

well chikorita wasn't that hard as i don't like bulbasaur
treeko is old news
turtwig while being my favorite animal a turtle doesn't appeal to me as much
& snivy was cool at first but now its meh i actually like oshawott more now.

& remember ash's chikorita make me love it even more

as for Leavanny it was sooo hard because i adore ludicolo.
liligant is just amazing
&whimsicott has some kind of mysterious appeal probably because its a better version of the hoppip line which i also like (speaking of which i just now noticed that its hoppip not hoppit XD)

and i cant forget leafeon especially because i have a soft spot for eeveelutions

i ended up choosing Leavanny because i read you post & remembered how amazingly useful it was when i played through my white version (which i cant find DXXX) & its quickly became one of my favorite my favorite looking pokemon not to mention it basic for seewaddle he just melts my heart <3

What is it about Grass Types?

As always, there are exceptions, but usually I have seen that I am just...gravitated towards Grass types. Most of them are cute, some of them are cool (coughcoughgrovyle) but I just...seem to like them. There's not much I can explain about it, other than that every one of them is strangely cute and awesome :3

Welcome Ravenclaw!

Leafeon is really interesting because it has incredible defense which one wouldn't think by its looks. (and also, pure grass types don't tend to have high defense) I'd really like to use one sometime because it seems like a really fun grass type to have on board.

I think that's another reason I like grass types so much - they have a lot of diversity in terms of stat ranges/their place on the team. Where as other types (like ice for instance) seem to specialize in one stat with few pokemon of that type specializing in another stat.

To be honest, I don't really remember a whole lot of the anime. But, I guess I'd have to say I think it's a tossup between Lotad and Sewaddle. Lotad was so derpy and adorable before it evolved, and Sewaddle was just so cute!

As for toughest, I'd say that's between Torterra and Snivy. Torterra/Grotle/Turtwig always tried its hardest and was just incredibly strong, and Snivy is just kind of BA (as well as being really strong - how does it already know Leaf Storm?!)

I can't really comment on Ash's Torterra since I haven't seen the Diamond & Pearl seasons tbh. D: I can agree though that it's pretty amazingly cute too :D

For me, however, it's a tie between Bayleef and Snivy! Both grass-type Pokemon (coincidentally starters), are really amazing and really adorable, especially THIS FACE. HOW COULD YOU NOT LIKE THIS FACE.

I have to say Snivy and Sewaddle. Ash's Snivy acts so cute when she uses Attract plus she's also got a tough side, and Sewaddle is just sooooooooo adorable.

Yeah, I seem to be biased towards 5th Gen again.

I haven't seen the anime for a while, but from memory Oddish was cute for me n_n.

How can one not love that cheerful thing :3? Its design is simple and small,it's expression amazing.I've always loved Oddish for its energetic personality and looks in the anime.

For toughest my vote goes to the Unova Grass Starter Snivy. It defeated Ash's Pikachu at Level 5.That little leaf creature is one insane powerhouse.Ash's Pikachu can potentially defeat Blastoises and Dragonites but it lost to this guy and I've always respected it in the anime n_n.

Cutest: Definitely Sewaddle! After seeing it for the first time in the Pinwheel Forest episode I fell in love with it completely, it's such a cutie of a Pokémon! It's so mischievous and carefree with the way it swings through the forest's branches and the way it communicates affection with the tiny stubs on it's head is so cuteee ♥ All-in-all it was just a very adorable Pokémon haha.

Toughest: Harder choice, but I'm going to go with Ash's Sceptile. The reasons are pretty obvious; it's simply a complete badass of a Pokémon haha. It managed to take down Darkrai in the Sinnoh league (I think...) and it's always a huge challenge for it's enemies to have to take down. Sceptile has always shown a lot of power and dexterity in it's character so it's definitely a real powerhouse in the anime and it's always struck me as one of Ash's strongest Pokémon. I'm not sure I really have a gif to accompany this one though, sorry. xD

Meganium October 21st, 2012 7:11 AM

OMG OzCake I can agree that Sewaddle is ttly cute in the anime! ^_^ The moment it said "Sewa-wa" I literally died of cuteness. xD I actually find the whole line of Sewaddle very adorable.

Who I find toughest in the anime, is Bulbasaur. Remember the episode when Ash's Bulbasaur was hurt and is trying to evolve, but refuses to? He found a flock of Saurs at a garden and in that episode he learned Solarbeam. He saved the mysterious garden and learned a new powerful move, now that's what I call toughness!

New topic for the club guys!: Do you think there should be a grass/fighting starter, just like Fire starters have fire/fighting? Why?

Bulbasaur is tough, but pretty push-over-ish too tbh .-. It had some incredibly tough moments like the evolution struggle you mentioned, but there are countless times when it's been proven to be tbh pretty weak. Also can anything like this:

truly be tough? ;)

Do you think there should be a grass/fighting starter, just like Fire starters have fire/fighting? Why?
I think it would make sense for there to be one and there's countless possibilities of designs for Grass/Fighting hybrids since they're two very easy to relate types (despite only two currently existing), but I personally wouldn't like to see one. It is certainly an interesting type to work with and the two different approaches that the types bring would complement each other well (I'm expecting a Pokémon based on healing itself all the time with drain punches and grass drain moves..?), but I can think of many more interesting types for it to be paired with. Honestly what I'd like to see most is a Grass and Bug starter - I know it's not unique and I know the two types are arguably somewhat similar, but just think of how awesome it would be to have such an interesting type combination whilst you're beating the game. There are so many brilliant designs that could be made from this dual typing and the moves they could access are extremely diverse given the wide nature of Grass Pokémon and Bug Pokémon, so I think they'd work perfectly together for a starter Pokémon. It would be a challenge given the increased number of weakness (and two x4 weaknesses), but I think it'd be worth it. Just look at Leavanny for proof :D

Ralaia October 21st, 2012 4:31 PM

Nope, I'm not particularly a fan of fighting types but Virizion takes care of that beings grass/fighting and you can use it in competitive battling. And I don't think we will see one anytime soon. :)

I feel pretty much the same haha, Fighting really isn't that interesting a type D: What do you think would accompany Grass better than Fighting in a starter Pokémon though? :3

Golurks Were Meant to Fly October 21st, 2012 6:29 PM

Do you think there should be a grass/fighting starter, just like Fire starters have fire/fighting? Why?

I think there should be. I could see it being based on bamboo, and possibly some sort of martial art that relates to the attributes of bamboo - strong, but flexible. Maybe a panda? (I feel that a bamboo panda is a little too expected but whatever, it'd be cute.) The reason I think there should be one, is grass has a lot of weaknesses, so why not match it with a type that's very strong? Plus, fighting helps the grass type take out ice, so the grass starter would be a little less frail.

In terms of other type combos for a grass starter, though, I'd love to see another grass steel. I love defensive grass types, and grass steal is an awesome type combo (and we could give it heatproof instead of overgrow, just for hax :3) Grass Ice would be cool (yay puns!) too, as it's a really interesting type combo. Other than those, I wouldn't mind seeing a grass/electric (although I don't know what the basis of the pokemon would be...solar panels?) or grass/ghost.

No need!
Y'know that all fire type move sometimes is a badass-strongly punching, so fighting type gonna be matching! But Grass type move is something beauty-slow and cutting! I more prefer Grass-Normal or Grass-Steel or something matching with grass cutting style!

Meganium October 28th, 2012 7:25 AM

To answer my own topic, like Golurk, we need other grass-type starters that have fighting elements but not warrant the grass/fighting type. Grass-Steel is a perfect combination for a new starter, like maybe a Scyther-like Pokemon that could have blades, swords or knives as hands or teeth.

Basically, something that could at least be equal with the number of fire-fighting starters that are out there. (at least...3-4?)

I'll keep this topic alive for more discussion, and if there's no more discussion feel free to pop up another topic!

I love this idea, the Grass/Steel hybrids you described sound insanely cool. The only thing I do wonder is if that would really suit a primary Grass type...? There aren't too many physical Grass type moves bar Leaf Blade (which would be perfect for the Pokémon you described, but not much variety ;p) and I can't imagine them wanting to bring in a tonne more just for a starter Pokémon... I do think it's a great idea but I can't see it being overly practical for a Grass type to have this sort of character x3 However being completely hypocritical and going against what I just said; I'd love to see a Grass/Rock type with similar characteristics to those listed above, it could but utterly epic to train a partner like that :D A huge moss covered stone sword for it's arms with vines attaching them to it's body so it can swing them around and stuff... I didn't know that's how everstones were used! I'll have to remember that. :P

As for grass/steel, I would see it as more like wall, similar to Torterra but even more defensive. And all they'd have to do was give it a cool signature move, like some sort of iron branch move? Lol I don't really know. Grass rock would be nice, since all we have is Cradily... :/

Basically I just want an awesome tank of a grass starter XD

I'd love to see some kind of agile ninja type Pokémon with huge Steel blades and awesome vines and stuff! Now that would be cool. B)

What you want sounds like some sort of a jungle transformer... or a robotic Leavanyy. :P
I want some awesome prehistoric grass/steel dinosaur tank, like a combo of these two pokemon

YESSS. That was my answer when I first replied to the topic, Grass/Bug is one of my favourite type combinations after the Sewaddle family <3 You'd be able to get such a cool/cute Pokémon using those two types and it could be kick-ass strong! Most definitely something I'd like to see happen. :D

As cool as another grass/bug would be, I just don't feel like it makes for a great starter. In game, bug types are naturally frail, :( (which is stupid, but I digress) and making it 4x weak to fire and flying makes for a really frail pokemon, especially if it's super fast with blades and vines and stuff. :B

A grass/electric would be cool! Solar panels?

That would be nice~ Why? Cause only two Grass/Fighting Pokemon has been introduced & that's a bit of a lack If its movepool & design is nice, why wouldn't people choose it as their starter?

YES YES YES 1000 TIMES YES <333 Now that you've put it that way I'm totally on board with the idea, a massive steel shelled jungle dinosaur plant monster hybrid thing would be insanely cool to have as a partner, and I reckon it'd be a lot more fulfilling to train that a lot of the other starters that exist. I still think the same thing but with Grass/Rock would be cooler, plus it'd be stronger since there wouldn't be the 4x Fire weakness, but I guess I can settle for Grass/Steel ;p

Ahahah, I've tried to come up with a Grass/Electric type countless times, it just doesn't happen xD The only things I could think of were an electric daisy, a Christmas tree (electric due to the lights), or one of these things that glow in the sea and look like they could be electricy:

All of which obviously have major drawbacks xD So yeah, not an easy type combination to come up with but I reckon it'd look pretty darn cool if they did!

Because they could choose a Grass/Rock starter instead which would kick any other Pokémon's butt by being 100% badass ;D

Meganium October 31st, 2012 6:34 AM

I can already imagine a robotic Leavanny right now. It'd probably earn an extra typing if third-typings ever do exist.

Also, Grass/Electric = probably not happening considering both combined typings are kinda useless. xD They don't work on each other. If it did it'll be difficult to beat. xD

Also, Happy Halloween, guys! A fun halloween topic to start off the day: What halloween costume would look good on your Partner Pokemon? (both of them!) Be creative :D

Ooh... this sounds pretty fun! Uh, could definitely be a teenage mutant ninja turtle, but if those all sell out, he'll be a pirate. And if THOSE sell out, he'll be a toothbrush. You know, to remind all dem kids to brush their teeth after gorging on candy. It's ironic because he'll be handing out energy drinks that have lemon juice added to them. Did I mention he's an dentist?

As for parasect, she won't be going trick or treating. She's going to a halloween party, and she'll be going as a zombie. Get it? ;) A SEXY zombie, of course, to get all the Kinglers. Or a sexy nurse. She may just go as a sexy blind woman, since she only needs to buy a cane to pull off that costume...since she's already blind.

Kinda cute... But idk. Treecko's a hard one since there's not really that many costumes it could wear effectively, but I think I'd go with a dinosaur costume simply because it is a semi-dinosaur. xD Give it some fangs, some scales, a pointy tail... It might be able to pull it off? Foongus is easier though, he'll have vampire fangs and a tiny black cape and be a vampire Foongus! I think that'd suit him really well and look ridiculously cute, plus kind of highlights that family's ability to steal/generate health so it's fitting too. :D I'm terribly uncreative though so I think other people will come up with better ideas than me xD

Well, I will make Shaymin use a little witch costume~
It'll be kind of reallly cuuute!
And Snivy going to use mini dracula costume!
It'll be Awesome, cool and fantastic!!!

Elix-the-Exiled November 9th, 2012 5:02 AM

Name: Elix-the-Exiled (the later has taken randomly), call me Elix

Partners: Ugh this is very hard. But I bring Snivy and Lilligant this time, so yea Snivy and Lilligant. Before I changed my mind with Treecko and Roserade, seriously this is a hard choice xD

Password: Serperior used Leaf Storm. Contrary activated, it’s Sp.Atk sharply increased. Grr, how long Nintendo wanted us to be patient, can’t wait to see three of my favorite stood in OU! Serperior, Lilligant, and Roserade. Still, I want Torterra to have some boosts. It is my favorite bulky grass-type…

About me: Well! I used to be pyromaniac trainer. Since Gen 1 up till Gen 4, I’m always dedicated myself to fire-type pokemon by choosing the fire starters except for treecko in Gen 3.

But in Gen 5, just suddenly, Snivy’s snobbish eyes, Whimsicott’s playful demeanor, Lilligant’s elegance and beauty, and Leavanny’s motherly appearance, AND Ferrothorn absurdly sturdiness, and Simisage’s badass look robbed my heart. This is totally my favorite gen! Not mentioning all of Grass-type is beautiful in their own unique ways. Their elegant design alone distinct themselves from another types. They’re calm, composed, quite, and most important ELEGANT! Have I mentioned Elegance?

Venusaur is madly strong under the sun, Meganium is pretty handy with its plethora of supportive moves, Sceptile oh-so-badass-lord of the jungle with its second to none speed after Unburden, Torterra’s WoodEdgeQuakeHammer banish everything, and Serperior’s glare stood still even the legendaries! What’s not to love from this great types!?

Grass-type also the most versatile pokemon with their annoying supportive moves and stalls, such as omnipresent like Leech Seed and Sleep Powder. It covers their many weaknesses for being the most handful pokemon of all time. Oh I how I love grass-type.

As for me, I’m always reserved two to three spaces for my grass-types in team. And one for Surf, and one who could Fly. Grass-type is a must in my team.

The reason I chose Snivy is definitely clear, I do love Snivy and its evos. While it makes me crazy to choose between Lilligant and Roserade. The both are the most beautiful grass-type, and I love them as how much I love Snivy. Oh have I mentioned the three must be female?

The toughest grass-type in anime I suppose it’s Virizion, by being a legendary and such. But if it’s from the series, I suppose Ash’s Torterra is a powerhouse grass-type. It’s just sadden me that he loses to Paul’s Drapion… :(

I’ve read the rule in making a topic, due it’s almost a week since the last topic, may I started the next topic?

If ever GF creates the main legendary mascot (the one that appear on the title screen of every gen) of one series is a Grass-type, what typings do you wish for it, what power does it possess, and as well as what its relation to the story?

Ps: I have some sketch with six grass-types on it. But it still in black/white, and done traditionally. It’s not too shabby, I think, for I’m quite confident with my drawing skill. Is it okay if I posted here or the URL? Thanks.
Until next time,
Elix.

I think I can make a zombie with dry leaves and drooping that will be wrong of course. Do not forget that Leafeon with small leaves often are not exposed to light, it means that its may die!

Welcome aboard! Another Snivy/Leafeon fan I see. Looks like we got a trend here! ^_^

As I mentioned, new topic suggested by Elix! Only rephrased a little: Since a grass-type legendary Pokemon hasn't been featured in the front cover of a Pokemon game, who would it be and what moves will it contain?

Keep that in mind that there aren't that many grass-type legendaries (not sure if Rotom is actually a legendary lol)

Oh yea, I see. Hehe, should I edited it maybe Leaf?

On to the topic! Due to there's no halloween in my country, so I just continue making the new topic. Sry xD

Since a grass-type legendary Pokemon hasn't been featured in the front cover of a Pokemon game, who would it be and what moves will it contain?

I'm always imagining pokemon who rules over nature. Not representing ground or ocean like Groudon and Kyogre respectively. But tp maintain the harmony of the land.
Maybe if Arceus truly a god of all pokemon and human, he had ever leave the responsibility to one of new unknown legendary for the task in the past.

This grass-legendary struggled in the drastically climate change, albeit Global Warming, while the 'Team *insert bad name here pls*' are the bunch of capitalist who uses pokemon for their self-benefits in bussiness and harms nature severely.

The legendary pokemon itself might have the incredible power as the representative of mother nature.
I prefer the typing such as: Grass/Rock or Grass/Dragon. Due to many weaknesses for grass, it quite hard to determine it. Maybe it could be fixed with its special ability to reduces super-effective moves to it by 1/3 or 1/2 like rhyperior.

Its ultimate moves are 'Gaia Wrath'. 180 based Sp.Atk power, while reduces it Def/Sp.Def/Spd by one stage.

Golurks Were Meant to Fly November 10th, 2012 8:03 PM

For the topic, is it for a currently existing legendary or a new one that we make up?

Imma go with the second version. :D

Let's see. Like Elix, I think it would basically rule over nature, except more specifically it would rule over the wild. It would be kind of similar to Pan from the Greek myths; actually that's what it would be based on. I think it would be either Grass/Normal or Grass/Ground. Maybe even Grass/Poison, Grass/Poison or even Grass/Dragon. The first two make the most sense though.

Basically, this pokemon would look something a satyr/goat/trees/vines. It would rule over the wild places of the world and be found in some pocket of wild, a jungle of some sort, far from civilization. Also, this place would be FILLED with plants, as this pokemon makes plants grow wildly. Perhaps it's ability could power up all other grass types in the party. (great for a monotype! :D) It's ability would be called Fertilizer or something lol, and the boost would be a +1 in every stat.

The pokemon would guard nature in a region that was very nature vs trash/pollution, and would fight to protect the pokemon/plants in the region. It would fight against an evil "team" who was a corporation fighting for their company. They'd have a lot of power over the region and create a lot of waste that would have drastic impacts on the environment. It'd be like Altru Inc in Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, except this company would be focused on harvesting oil via dangerous and illegal methods, and would use their pokemon as guard-dogs/to fight for them. Maybe ex-Team Plasma could even come back and protest them, and help you find the grass type legendary and use its power to stop them.

Maybe it's name could be Wildyre (pronounced as wilder, comes from wild, satyr and nature) and it'd be known as the Vernal Pokemon. This pokemon would be found with the moves: Hyper Voice, Frenzy Plant, Earth Power, and a signature move known as Nature Song. It would be a special attack move that didn't make contact, and had 100 base power. It would be grass type, and cause the the user's ability to be triggered again, meaning all grass types would get +2 in all their stats. However, the user would lose 1/4 of their health.

Galoria November 14th, 2012 6:47 AM

I'm agree with (Ste)Elix and Golurk :3

My reflection is thinking about Greek mythology. More exactly Gaia, mother earth and also one that embodies the existence and life, in other words: the nature.

● First, its type.
I think obviously the type plant. In the elements exist, I think the type plant embodies the best of nature.

● Second thing, the second type.
Or do you would add a second type?
The best improve its capacity and power, who knows?
- Grass / Dragon.
That would be great! We have an idea that a dragon is rather protective aspect than anything else. It embodies respect and power.
In addition, to have a huge weakness to ice, it would be logical that fear ice (X4). But more resistant to fire, because it is a dragon (X1)
Unfortunately we too embody power by dragons, maybe we should see other stuff?

► Grass / Ground
Two very interesting things. Two types, which are part of the whole nature. As Torterra, they have the same weaknesses. With both types, although it embodies Gaia.

► Gass / Rock
Unfortunately, this type of assembly is quite weak because many weaknesses. I think more about Grass/Ground types.

► Grass / Poison
A good combination, despite what is seen and classic.

► Grass
One type. Why not after all.

▬> Everything depends on our vision and our symbolic towards nature.
Grass and Ground would be embodied in Gaia, controlling nature, plants, and ground.
Grass and Dragon would be the aspect of "protective" and powerful.
Grass and Poison embodies well the next "wild" and dangerous nature.
Grass and Rock would be just as well as Grass / Ground. But would lean more towards advantageous aspects Grass / Ground.
Grass. Mundane, but equally significant nature.

● About its attacks. I think about:

Leaf Blade / Energy Ball / Earthquake
Swords Dance / Leaf Tornado / Synthesis
Giga Drain / Leech seed
Wilderness

And an attack made especially for him. An attack that raises the SPEC.ATT two levels.
Used 5 times.
Power: 90 or 100
The name would be: Wilderness.

● And the name of this Pokémon is ... I can't say it in English, I can say it in Ukrainian only :3

Squirrel November 22nd, 2012 7:02 AM

Man, you guys are having some great ideas, my attempt will be nowhere near as good lmao. I love all the talk about Gaia, that's a really interesting concept. I'm going to go with a existing legendary though since I think what I'm about to suggest should have been the focus for BW2; I think Virizion should be the box art in the next game, alongside a game with Terrakion. Virizion and Terrakion are such cool Pokémon and much a very interesting pair when it comes to their joint powers, so I'd love to see them be properly featured in the games for once rather than just having a random side mention when you first find them. As for Cobalion, he'd be the group's leader (sort of like Rayquaza in RSE), and the story could essentially follow the vein of a huge epic battle between the two legendary deer-warrior-things where they lead an army of Pokémon each into a war and it's up to the hero to stop them. There'd be a whole army of Grass types from Virizion and I think it'd suit the concept of these Pokémon pretty well, so I think Virizion would be perfect as a box art Pokémon. :D

Totally missed some awesome topics here, whoops!

On the Anime, which grass-type Pokemon do you find the cutest? Toughest?

Ash's Snivy is both cute and tough so she definitely gets my vote. I love how she's always calm about things and gives advice to the other team members (like Tepig) while still being irresistibly cute. I definitely wouldn't have liked Snivy as much if it weren't for her. <3

I can easily picture Whimsicott with a little torn black/orange cape and fangs, haha. Snivy on the other hand would make a good Frankenstein! :3
