Overlord Drakow September 30th, 2012 5:15 AM

I travel around 28 miles each working day.

Oh and I flew in my car yesterday.

Oryx September 30th, 2012 7:04 AM

I usually don't drive but I do on occasion when Tom's drunk or he doesn't feel like taking me somewhere XD;

No he's GREAT don't judge Tom! :( I like driving and I need practice because I'm a new driver so it's really a privilege when he lets me drive!

Why did you wait so long to start driving?

Oryx September 30th, 2012 7:24 AM

Cause I'm poor and the second I got my license I was afraid I was going to be forced onto my mom's insurance but now I live at school 9 months a year so we took the risk and it turns out they did try to force me onto the insurance so my mom had to change to a provider that was more accommodating to my circumstances. XD;

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ September 30th, 2012 9:49 AM

I actually haven't driven in awhile... blame a combination of the parents needing both cars and my inability to afford decent insurance. Not that I'd have anywhere to drive to anyway.

I actually never had a car throughout college, which might have been for the best since from what I heard, the parking enforcement officers there like to swoop in like vultures.

Kura September 30th, 2012 9:51 AM

I have been driving since 16/17 (whenever it is you can get your G1 in Ontario) but now in the UK I am thinking of taking driving lessons to learn how to drive a Standard car, and.. learning how to drive on the other side of the road without feeling confused haha.

antemortem September 30th, 2012 9:56 AM

I've been driving for two years, as I got my Learner's Permit when I was 15. :]

Oryx September 30th, 2012 10:01 AM

Omg Kura don't get into a crash driving on the wrong side of the road :(

I remember this story where this mom that got in a front-end crash driving a minivan on the wrong side of the freeway drunk and high, thus killing her eight kids and their grandma.

That's sad and all, but my question is, what the hell were the kids thinking getting into that car?

Would you refuse to get into a car with your own parent when they were high and drunk and therefore probably unpredictable? I know that when I was a kid, I wouldn't have. I'd have just done what I was told.

Anyway, about driving, I've not learned to drive yet and most likely never will. But hopefully I'll be living in a city for a long time so I shouldn't need to!

Oryx September 30th, 2012 2:47 PM

Yeah I trusted my mom as a kid and if she said "I'm fine to drive" I would have believed her. I probably still would because she's never given me any reason not to XD;

Guys it's October now! :D

Oryx September 30th, 2012 8:34 PM

October is the best month.

Star-Lord September 30th, 2012 8:37 PM

No December.

but my birthday is near Christmas so I have bias. :<

Oryx September 30th, 2012 8:38 PM

My birthday is...in 24 hours! So I'm totally not biased when I tell everyone that I love October.

droomph September 30th, 2012 9:11 PM

It's not quiiiiite October here where I live, but I can tell you October is pretty fun for me.

And no, it has nothing to do with alcohol. That tastes like poop.

Hikamaru September 30th, 2012 9:19 PM

October IS the best month, cos it won Other Trivia's Birthday Race 4 times!

And Toujours, I'll be there for your celebration too.

Oryx September 30th, 2012 9:20 PM

You obviously haven't tried rum yet.

Tom is OBSESSED with good beer. Like he goes and shops for homebrews and microbrews or whatever is this the right terminology? I think his beer tastes like dirt. Is alcohol synonymous with October?

Mr Cat Dog September 30th, 2012 11:34 PM

Well, there is Oktoberfest. But that's often not even held in October, for the most part...

Meganium September 30th, 2012 11:40 PM

Ahh October is here. Bad news is that midterm week is next week D: and good news is that HALLOWEEN is coming! I can't wait for that! ^_^

yay 200th post

Plumpyfoof October 1st, 2012 8:05 AM

October marks the end of my High school career, I'm feeling really sentimental guys :(

EDIT:
I LOVE BEER!
Rum is also good, it makes me feel like a pirate when it's still in the bottle. I dunno it reminds me of one of my friends 16th dress-up party, I was a pirate.
Spoiler:
I also vomited in the pool, in the toilet, and in a bush that night.

Oryx October 1st, 2012 9:18 AM

I always mix it with coke. I had some on speak like a pirate day because pirates!

Nihilego October 1st, 2012 10:01 AM

Beer and coke is a weird combo. Vodka, and coke, however... I've developed a weird liking for it since I started uni, probably because it's cheap and doesn't taste too horrible even if you use the most basic stuff there is.

Oryx October 1st, 2012 10:16 AM

NO NOT BEER AND COKE EW. I mean rum and coke!

And yeah I'm the same way with vodka and coke. If you're into drinking vodka is just an alcohol you should just have around, and I always have soda, so mixing the two is a quick way to drunkville!

Esper October 1st, 2012 10:22 AM

Stay away from open windows when you drink at uni, guys. I went to school with a guy who fell out of a third story window and got paralyzed from the waist down.

Kura October 1st, 2012 12:39 PM

Woot! Gonna be spending my first Octoberfest in the UK this October. I love October <3 Halloween, Birthday, Anime Expo, Octoberfest.. it is gonna be a good month.

Meganium October 1st, 2012 12:56 PM

Vodka + Coke is da best. It's been a while that I've had that though. I only drink it at huge parties lmao.

Plumpyfoof October 1st, 2012 2:16 PM

I still like Apple Vodka and Mountain Dew, it always seems to be left at my house and if I run out it costs the same as normal vodka. It's like apple flavoured mountain dew, and you don't realise just how potent it is until later.

does that even dissolve in water

anyways

yeah, it's oktoberfest, because it's the only month (apart from Lent) we can relax in German class. :P Not because I find it gets easier, but the fooooood

It's a liquid silly! It mixes just fine with soda, as do a lot of things. Similar to the apple vodka/mountain dew combination, I really enjoy fruit punch vodka and orange soda. You can't even taste the alcohol, lmao.

antemortem October 1st, 2012 3:04 PM

I quite enjoy Jello shots, but only ones with rum. The ones with vodka are disgusting, especially lime and vodka. Ew, just thinking about it makes me shudder. n_n;; My favorite is definitely watermelon with rum, followed by lime with rum. They're so good, ugh!

Oryx October 1st, 2012 3:08 PM

I tried to make jello shots with my friends once and failed miserably. They had SO MUCH ALCOHOL IN THEM OMG. Then we had dozens of leftover jello shots and no one wanted the nasty things.

Good times!

Kura October 1st, 2012 3:20 PM

I've never had one.. though.. I am very fond of my mojitos~~~~

Oryx October 1st, 2012 3:26 PM

I have to say Kura I absolutely can't imagine you having a jello shot hahaha. Idk why!

lol I meant the other kind of coke but whatever :P
--
I imagine that I would much rather have normal Jello or Jigglies rather than jello shots. But then again, I've never tried one to begin with, so it might be the only type of alcohol I'll even consider. :3

The most extreme I go with drinks is probably ice water or green tea (I know, I'm so badass with my disregard for safety) so drinks aren't that much of my interest. I hate soda, juice, sparkling water, pretty much anything that isn't water, which even I find kinda weird.

Though alcohol(s) are a thing of interest to me. I like the smell of isopropanol, and I feel strangely at home when I see a chemical formula for an alcohol (or any carbon-based compound, for that matter). Tbh my favorite chemical groups based on feelings have to be the ketones and alcohols.

annnnnnd I don't know what I'm talking about.

Tried a Chuck Norris Saturday night. Apparently it's a small shot of strawberry daiquiri in the center of some blue energy drink with ice in the name. Wasn't bad, but the alcohol taste was too strong even still.

Also, energy drinks and alcohol generally aren't the best thing to mix together.

I was talking about in terms of effects. There's a reason 4Loko's been banned in a few places. I actually found the Chuck Norris's I had pretty tolerable. Still had too much of the alcohol taste to them, though.

Nihilego October 2nd, 2012 12:31 AM

Oh right. I didn't really know that there were any massive adverse effects outside of the normal ones which you'd expect with alcohol... Maybe I should lay off on them a bit haha.

donavannj October 2nd, 2012 12:40 AM

That wouldn't be a bad idea. You definitely feel more able to react to things than you really are.

One of my friends' cousins (I think) was drinking Vodka and Red Bull all night at her 16th. She collapsed with heart failure hit her head and had a major concussion.
She had to be revived twice in the ambulance.
She survived (Thank god) and she no longer drinks energy drinks.

Moral of the story, be REALLY careful when mixing depressants with stimulants.

Kura October 2nd, 2012 4:02 AM

Yeah.. I've never drank an energy drink- especially not with alcohol. I've tried a sip of a few mixed drinks with them.. but yeah- I'm a major lightweight and I think this would happen to me so I dont risk it.

My work here is done.

And stay away from hot tubs. When drinking, I mean. Regular hot tub use is groovy.

Nihilego October 2nd, 2012 9:01 AM

I kinda hate hot tubs. I've always found them really awkward. Not sure why but just... Eh. No ty.

Meganium October 2nd, 2012 9:19 AM

Energy drinks are my best friend in college. Though I drink them sparingly so I'm not like MUST DRINK LOOOOTS. 1-2 cans every week is ok for me.

Is it being in water with other people that gets to you? That can be weird with the wrong kind of people about.

Oryx October 2nd, 2012 9:57 AM

I LOVE HOT TUBS.

Somehow my boyfriend's apartment's pool is still open (it's October, apartment! you should be closed by now!) and I think I'm gonna try to talk him into going to the hot tub with me at least once more before they finally shut it down for winter haha.

Kura October 2nd, 2012 10:00 AM

Not to mention, usually the bubbles in hot tubs are actually dead skin cells. No thanks.

You know you want to.

But, on the subject of hot tubs... I actually don't know if I've ever been in a proper one, independent of a swimming pool. The ones that are connected to plush pools, though, are all kinds of nice. All bubbly and whatnot. But even still, it's been absolutely ages since I've been in a pool of any kind, let alone a hot tub. I should probably rectify that at some point in the near future!

Talkin' about alcohol on a Pokemon forum. There could be minors on this forum! You're corrupting their minds and shattering their innocence a-

Nah, just kidding, screw that.

Kura October 3rd, 2012 12:32 AM

Talking about it with others of age, and encouraging the young ones to drink illegally are two different things.

That being said I was introduced to alcohol when I was very young; being Italian, there was always wine at the dinner table, and if guests were over, there was always an espresso or a shot of something being served and my dad would always ask if I wanted to try some.

:c I can't handle strong alcohol though.. I don't like it very much.

So... I herd yall liek Mudkipz.

http://turboimg.com/p/udj1349264083a.jpg

Ingredients:

1/2 ounce Peach Schnapps (Peachtree)
1 ounce Blue Curacao (Dekuyper)
3/8 ounce Caramel Liquor (Southern Comfort)

Directions: Pour the Blue Curacao into a double shot glass and then, using a bar spoon, layer the Peach Schnapps and Caramel Liquor on top in that order.

Plumpyfoof October 3rd, 2012 3:34 AM

I was introduced to alcohol at a young age also. Only it was pre-mixed drinks that everyone pooled for to have their 18 year old sibling buy for us.
Underage drinking in Australia is a real problem, I started drinking regularly when I was 13 and their aren't too many people younger than that around here that I know of.
Also we aren't really encouraging, if anything I had a horrible time when I got home hung-over and having "the talks" with my parents. I had SO many talks which I'm only now starting to realise it was probably an excessive amount. Was I a bad child?
Worth every cent, best 5 years of my life. <_< >_>

Well, sometimes when I was older( not a kid really) my mom let me try sips of beer or wine. I never liked it much at all. It left me wondering why adults actually wanted to drink that stuff, lol. I never wanted to drink when I was a teenager or anything. Now I enjoy an occasional drink that I like. That drink in the picture looks very good, it's so pretty :O Id definately try it.

I think it's an acquired taste. I know at first I didn't really like beer, and I still don't like wine unless it's white wine, but now I love it! as i've probably made clear lol

It's always a worthwhile investment where beer is involved!!!!!

I just can't get out of the mindset where I see "bitter" as a universally negative adjective. He uses it all the time for the beers he loves and I'm like "WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DRINK SOMETHING IF IT'S BITTER?!"

I'm one of the few people who has actually never had alcohol. It's not that I think it's wrong to have a drink every now and then (so long as you don't get plastered) but, knowing myself, I'd probably be one of those people who takes one drink and winds up on another planet. And with all the driving I have to do, probably not a good idea. XD

Yeah but you go out and get piss-drunk like...on a daily basis. So you don't count.

I think a good way to edge you into it is if you try a wine tasting class/ course. I did one for my cousin's bachelorette. It's more about the flavour than the alcohol. I hate wine but I enjoyed it- so here's me recommending it to you :3

Also idk about anyone else but my first experience with being even tipsy was at home alone with just my boyfriend. That way I could test to see my limits and wouldn't have to worry about driving and such hahah.

Kura October 3rd, 2012 12:13 PM

Same. It was at family get togethers, and even then only a slight buzz. :c Then again it takes me only like half a bottle to get buzzed.. : |

Oryx October 3rd, 2012 12:17 PM

When I don't eat first just 1-2 rum & cokes gets me tipsy. But idk how much alcohol is in those because I don't measure it anymore now that I'm used to making them myself, haha. I guess between 1 and 2 shots?

Well, my other issue is that I just don't...even really like the smell of alcohol, so I can't imagine how it tastes. And when people say that beer tastes like piss it doesn't really make me inclined to try it.

Oryx October 3rd, 2012 12:25 PM

Have fruit punch vodka and orange soda! Doesn't taste like alcohol at all! :3 Rum & Cokes do though. So don't have one of those!

I don't either.. Like I said, maybe a wine tasting class you'd find nice. The least it would do is inform you if you dont like it. And you dont have to drink it all- just a few sips from each glass. You wouldnt be offending anyone if you didn't like it that way.

I dont like rum and coke.. too strong for me.

That's why I like Mojitos.. Can't taste any alcohol whatsoever.

Sorry, but I have to bring it up every time you mention it. But mojitos are very nice indeed. Had my first at the Notting Hill carnival out of a coconut, and would heartily recommend it to everyone of legal drinking age! :D

Vodka and coke smells like coke! So try that out.

Kura October 3rd, 2012 12:36 PM

I didn't have peroni this weekend!! I had a bud!

.. >_> Still got me tipsy though.

Mojitos are my fav. I think it's why I like smirnoff ice coolers.. ._. Even though those are supposed to be girly drinks. I don't care! I am a girl! Lol!

#storyofmylife
In all serious though my first encounter with alcohol was with my cousin (who is a year older than me) and his mates passing around a goon sack in a construction site at 2am I believe.
Boy do I not miss goon.

I learned at school that alcohol lowers your IQ by an average of 90 and that it turns you into a murderous lunatic by drinking it, so I'll be sure to avoid it.That's sarcasm if you can't tell.

By 90 points? Imagine if that were true. Would there be enough intelligence left for reproduction, would the world be a better place right now?
