Who remembers Pokemon Stadium 2???

I found my old n64 and started playin poke stadium 2. I CANT PUT IT DOWN!!!! It is so addictive. who remembers the good ole days?? what is your fondest memory of poke stadium 1 and 2?

Sirfetch’d September 27th, 2012 4:22 PM

They were the best spinoffs ever! I loved them and am hoping for a stadium 3. Nothing like Battle Revolution though, it was terrible! It needs to have all 649 pokemon rentable.

Pokemon Stadium 2 in particular was VERY VERY VERY hard. That Elite Four and Lance are impossible to beat.

I found a N64 at a Flea MArket about 4 months ago and bought it and stadium 1&2 for about $100 Bucks! I got a steal.

ShinyUmbreon189 September 27th, 2012 4:24 PM

I remember it. It was a really fun game but rigged to hell lol.

Thats actually a little more expensive than it should be.

It was restored and came with 2 controllers and one other non-pokemon game as well, so it was a great deal.

Aryan143 September 27th, 2012 6:29 PM

I remember it. It was very very interesting game. As jellicentfan1 said, there should be a Pokemon Stadium 3.

Are there Oceans in Space? September 27th, 2012 6:33 PM

Fondest memory? MINIGAMES<333

I don't think I actually beat any of the cups or gym leaders hahaha.

yiliang99 September 27th, 2012 10:36 PM

I remember it but now I delete it because it only waste my space(need the space to download other staff)I also like the pokemon stadium battle system.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ September 29th, 2012 10:47 PM

I do remember pulling my hair out with some of the toughest cups in Stadium 2... especially that (IIRC) Challenge Cup where you had to use rental Pokemon.

Still, fun times, fun times. If they create a 5th gen console game, its selection of battle modes needs to be as robust as it was in Stadium 1 & 2, and not like the watered down Battle Revolution.

Stodd October 4th, 2012 10:59 PM

i beat the entire game in 2, but am having trouble in round two. its tough, but the rival is easy to beat. i have a full operational n64, with several games, including stadium 1 and 2, and snap! but the stadium games are so detailed, its amazing how you can win using only rentals, unlike these newer spin offs. (although i used a ho-oh, unimportant!!) i also prefer there move animations over the newer games. the attacks actually seem to hit hard, and the newer games, the attacks just seem to be soft, idk how to explain it. i like the music and animation, and also the graphics, better than the new games. never liked the newer gens too much.

LenSho October 11th, 2012 7:07 PM

Stadium 2 is my favorite home console Pokémon game!

I remember the hardest part was the Challenge Cup in Round two, I was lucky enough to get a rental Kingdra, Typhlosion and Ampharos.

I miss the rule sets that didn't allow to get more than one Pokémon asleep or frozen.

I was disappointed when I first played Pokémon Colosseum, I was expecting a Gym Leader Castle. The RPG mode made up for it and the RSE music, but I still wanted to fight the Hoenn Gym Leaders and Elite Four in 3D graphics.

I agree with LeSabre, if they make a 5th gen console game, they better get rid of annoying gimmicks like in Battle Revolution and go back to the good old formula, and possibly remove rental cups of any sorts as well. But if they added that in BW2, chances are they won't.

LividZephyr October 11th, 2012 9:55 PM

How could I forget Stadium 2? I spent HOURS on that one - my sister and I loved the mini-games that one gave us - and there were so many awesome features and ways to battle. I don't know if I ever beat the Gym Challenge, but I was young, and really, it was awesome. I Mystery Gifted with the department store girl all the freaking time.

Those were the days!

And they totally need to make a new Stadium game. Just like the old ones and not like PBR. Sure, you can give us character customization - as long as it isn't sprite recolors. Or let us use in-game trainers.

Stodd October 12th, 2012 9:50 AM

i agree! they need to stick with what works. stadium had a really great battle formula. use your color games, and if you couldn't or didnt have enough pokes, use these rentals! every console game after stadium, 2 just got worse and worse. don't get me wrong, shadow pokes are great, but thats all that was really good in the newer stuff. have another stadium game, but make it to where you can earn the shadow pokes by doing certain tasks. somethin like that.

Ice Car October 12th, 2012 9:54 AM

The minigames. I don't even remember there being a story, I just played the minigames with my brother and sometimes my cousin and we'd have a great time.

Sydian October 12th, 2012 10:43 AM

Pokemon Stadium 2 was my gen II, since I didn't play GSC in their hay day. Loved it, to say the least. Taught me how to battle correctly and it's where I first saw my beloved Umbreon. <3

mikey October 12th, 2012 10:55 AM

Of course I do! I still play it sometimes on my N64! It's a fantastic game, as was Stadium 1. I wish the newer games for consoles such as Wii were like them.

MontrayDavis October 27th, 2012 7:04 PM

By far, the best pokemon game in the world ! :D

asitha_lakruwan October 28th, 2012 9:41 PM

i love this game i hope they make a pokemon stadium 3ds with all the pokemon in it

DarkReaper November 3rd, 2012 3:18 PM

I have recently started playing that game on my psp "N64" emulator and it looks very fun. I have had a few problems, for example I can only play with preset Lv 20 (ISH?) pokemon but I cant level any of them up because I cant upload any gamepaks. Regardless, this game is entertaining and seeing my fav pokemon in 3d is a bonus.

272 November 21st, 2012 3:33 PM

oh yes i remember i even still have pokemon stadium 1 *plays for an hour or so*
...
i already won it man i wish there was a restart game code thingy :(

Yes, those minigames lol. I totally forgot about the championship when I discovered how fun the mini-games where

Stodd November 26th, 2012 3:59 AM

I played the mini games and the castle and stadium.

Patrick December 16th, 2012 9:33 PM

I distinctly remember Nidoqueen being disturbing. :|

I loved the heck out of the photo mode in Stadium 1, even if I never took my game to Blockbuster to print the pics out. The main campaign I remember being really hard, or hard enough anyway.

But if anything, I learned what Pokemon moves would look like in real time (even if they aren't all consistent in subsequent appearances). Thunder Wave still makes more sense to me as electric pulse waves to however it ended up looking in RSE and Pokemon Colloseum. Shadow Ball as well. That move looked so wicked cool in PS2, and it was demoted to black goo with sparkles in Colloseum. Weak.

I also learned that if you rename your Pokemon, you get... recolors. Guess it's official. :P But seriously, at least it added a unique touch to your Pokemon.

What I would have preferred, though, was a Pokemon equivalent to Mario Party, because clearly the best thing about either Stadium games was the Minigames. I don't think the Pokemon were ever shown with such personality in 3D since the fact (especially in PS1), though to be fair, I've never played the Hey You Pikachu esque games. It's even more strange considering some Pokemon showed less emotion in the exact same game during the battles. I still get a kick out of Voltorb's victory animation in the electric minigame.

Sarah Morgan December 16th, 2012 9:36 PM

OMG, I owned the Gym Leader tower, once I put my team on the game, I actually felt like a Pokemon trainer lol

CliCliW December 20th, 2012 7:02 AM

I could never win any of the cups whatsoever, and I always felt like a failure... I just mostly played the minigames and the free battles, cause I could win those :P

Patrick December 20th, 2012 10:35 AM

Oh yeah, I forgot about free battle. Fun against friends, or if you just felt like rigging yourself a win.

Captain Gizmo December 20th, 2012 11:09 AM

I used to go to my cousin's place and literally own everybody in the mini games and the battles xD

Now they don't play it anymore, they mostly play CoD... shame really :(

Aeon. December 20th, 2012 5:09 PM

It was alright. For the most part I only touched it for the mini-games.

Ho-Oh December 20th, 2012 5:29 PM

I never got Stadium 1 but I loved 2. I think I still have that and a Nintendo 64 in the shed, actually. Nevertheless, it was so much fun!! I got really good at the Clefairy game, and I loved the Lickitung game I found that hilarious. Oh and the Hoop Hurl I was good at too! And Rattata. Oh and Magikarp. But everything else I wasn't amazing at, owait no I was good at Hardening. Nvm I'm a genius.

As for the actual battles I don't remember how well I did but it was still really fun! I remember uhh, Lapras using Surf in a field thing? That's all. XD;

Patrick December 30th, 2012 1:59 PM

Wait. All those games you mentioned are from Pokemon Stadium 1. But...

Name convention, for example in Japan Stadium 1 is called Stadium 2, and their Stadium 1 was never released in the West. Our Stadium 2 is called (I think) Stadium GS in Japan.

Well I loved Stadium, so much that I went very far into the games and bred teams specifically for the cups. Best console Pokémon game ever made!

I was good at the log-cutting minigame, too. If you had a Scizor in your cart, you could actually use Scizor instead of Scyther or Pinsir.

Starry Windy January 2nd, 2013 4:44 AM

I loved Pokémon Stadium 2. I enjoyed watching COM vs COM in Mini Games matches.

~CreamyChoco~ January 2nd, 2013 6:17 AM

OoOoOoo 90u remember it :) it is a really nice game i finished it once it was a great feeling :)

pokemanmdj January 2nd, 2013 10:04 AM

I really love the Stadium games! 1 a tad more than 2, but they're fantastic, nonetheless. I loved all the variety and all the choices you had, and the rental Pokemon and- everything. I loved about everything in those games.

I just wish they could make another one. Not like the one they had for the Wii- Battle Revolution, but one where you'd have those mini-games, random stadium condition battles and the Gym Leader castle system. Basically, everything the Stadium games had.

I TOTALLY agree. I loved the format of the Stadium games and wish they would come out with something exactly like them now. It would be a great addition and since there are a ton more Pokemon currently, it would make it that much more fun!! (:

tente2 January 2nd, 2013 12:07 PM

Of course I remember Stadium 2! Back when the Nintendo 64 (along with an Xbox I never used) was my only video game console, I would play Stadium 2 all the time. I also had Stadium 1, Hey You Pikachu, and Pokemon Snap. I actually still have all of them; I think I'll play them all today, because from what I remember they were all really fun. Except Hey You Pikachu. That game was infuriating; I had no idea what you were supposed to be doing! I think the only thing I could accomplish on Hey You Pikachu was that one mission (is that what they're called?) with the Caterpie and Butterfree. Maybe the one with the Poliwags too...?

Anyway, what I really just loved about the old Pokemon N64 games—and what I still love about them, actually—is the fact it really feels like you're living in the Pokemon world, which is what I longed for as a kid (and I still think it'd be cool, right?). The 3D felt amazing. And, I felt the 3D games were able to recreate the atmosphere of the original anime, which was one of my all-time favorite aspects of the Pokemon series. I didn't even play the mainstream Pokemon games back then; my first mainstream Pokemon game was Platinum.

Apparently everybody on this thread dislikes Pokemon Battle Revolution. I've only played it once or twice, and I don't own it, so I'm going to maintain a neutral opinion towards it, but I think the atmosphere was great—in a different way. Looking back, I didn't even realize how crappy the graphics were until now, but I still think that I appreciate the new modern atmosphere. Typically I treasure the older generations of Pokemon for a feeling of nostalgia and quaintness, while I treasure the newer generations for a feeling of adventure and exploration.

Oh, and the minigames of both Stadiums! I absolutely adored the minigames—I still do. When I was a little kid I didn't understand the mechanics of Pokemon battles, so I normally lost all the Cups. But the minigames were so much fun... I think I'll play them with my brother soon. (They were multiplayer, right? I'm forgetting the details!)

Captain Gizmo January 2nd, 2013 12:18 PM

Do you guys think they should make a Pokemon Stadium 3? :D

Margaery Tyrell January 2nd, 2013 12:46 PM

Well, I never played Stadium 2, but I do remember Stadium 1 - I still own it. :D

I loved the mini-games and whatnot, it's always fun to play. Although I remember when I played it, I could never beat the Elite Four. >.< The Champion beat me to bits...

Heck yes! I'd imagine it'd be on a Wii U though, which I don't have. Ahahaha.

I'd love it on 3DS though.

I don't really think the 3DS would make sense as a platform for a Stadium game though; I think handhelds are better suited for mainstream Pokemon games. Since Stadium games are really just watered down (obviously with their own perks, though) Pokemon games made for non-portable consoles. If Stadium were to be on a handheld, I'd rather play a mainstream game with a more solid plot and developed overworld. But I wouldn't want to play a mainstream Pokemon game on a non-portable console, either.

I guess, in my opinion, it's all a matter of casual playing vs. non-casual playing.

Captain Gizmo January 2nd, 2013 7:38 PM

Stadium should definitely be on the Wii-U. Pokemon Stadium is probably one of my favorite spin-offs of the whole series. It's really sad that they didn't do more than 2 :(

pessimisticlyricist January 3rd, 2013 10:49 AM

I loved the minigames they were so enjoyable.

Patrick January 3rd, 2013 1:30 PM

@Cerberus87 - Oh, yes you're so right. Way back when I remembered that bit of trivia. Well, guess in that case most of us never really played the original one. It didn't look like it was worthwhile, though.

As for Stadium 3, I'd rather they just made Pokemon Party and was done with it. Who are we kidding? The only thing anyone remembers in specifics is the minigames, and they were good enough on their own to warrant being fondly remembered.

That and maybe taking pictures of them. How'd I ever get so much mileage out of that?

SoliderOfMisfortune January 4th, 2013 8:25 AM

I got Pokemon Stadium 2 used as a kid. It already had a bunch of Level 100 Pokemon including all the legendaries (Except Mew and Mewtwo damnit) And it was a lot of fun.... Even though at a certain point I couldn't do **** because I didn't know how to use what I had. ~Sigh~ Maybe I'll go back to it some time. Couldn't hurt right?

Sorry for the late response, but yeah I see what you mean. It'd be a different feel that's for sure. I do however feel like since things such as SSB being on 3DS could lead to potential Stadium like games on 3DS.

Off-topic, but I picked up Stadium 2 at a video game stand on campus, only issue I had was that it was 60 bucks hahaha. It has been worth it though.

satotaku January 26th, 2013 8:40 AM

wow lol is that a trick question, Pokemon Stadium 2 was a step up from Stadium 1 in every way, I liked how customizable the cups were this time and the mini-games were more fun in the second.

Sweets Witch January 26th, 2013 1:03 PM

Ah, yes. I'll never forget the countless times when I was trashed by the gym leaders. The mini games were fun, though. So was Challenge Cup.

chella182 January 26th, 2013 1:26 PM

I wasn't too hot at the battling (nothing's changed!), however I bossed all of the mini games :D the Chansey one was my favourite. On expert (or very hard, whatever it was called) it was insane haha!

Gyardosamped January 26th, 2013 3:24 PM

I still own my original N64, Poke S1 & 2!

I think my fondest memory would have to be attempting to defeat Lance in PS1. @[email protected] His dragonair kept using bind or wrap (forgot which attack it was), and it didn't allow me to attack. I was literally there trying to beat that dragonair for like an hour. Nevertheless, I did beat him. xD

Keyaki January 26th, 2013 4:04 PM

Remember? I still have it.

I remember trying to beat Team Rocket in Mahogany town. It was soooo hard for some reason that my cousins and I had to work together to beat them....it took us a few months.

Same with the Prime Cup in the Stadium, that took us even longer and it lots of frustration!

The mini-games were AWESOME!!! I was a total beast at the Topsy Turvy game, it was like Beyblade but with Pokemon.

Now all I need to do is beat Red....which I can't seem to do.

Eeveelution Co-ordinator January 27th, 2013 7:10 AM

I never owned Stadium 2 but owned a German version of the first one and a N64, but lost both :( . I remember winning a Kabuto but not owning a red, blue or yellow to transfer it too (this was during the days of Gen IV)

linkofhyrule February 14th, 2013 12:01 AM

Little cup rocked if you could upload your own team, and the classroom actually taught me a lot, seeing how I was young and dumb. Before that, fire pokemon of mine only knew fire moves. Because theyre fire type.... thats what they were supposed to do lol. But I got stuck on team rocket in the castle for so long it mustve been a year, that solar beam Houndoom kicked my butt...

waveguidebuizel February 14th, 2013 8:11 AM

My brother and I spent so many hours at it as kids! Ah, such good memories~! Well, aside from the rage due to hax, especially with Round 2. And Prime Cup. >_< We never did beat Round 2, though I think we were making a team for Little Cup. I especially loved Earl's Academy! That's where all my knowledge of the mechanics and little nuances of the game originated. It did a really good job of teaching everything, particularly with breeding, which I think can be a complicated subject for a beginner to learn. ^-^ Oh, and the mini-games! So fun! I remember that I really liked the Donphan, Furret, Mr. Mime, Chansey, Delibird and Hitmontop games.

Dragooncroft February 17th, 2013 5:07 PM

I have been playing since it came out!

Oh, and I used only rentals, and got up until half way through R2. I remember Prime cup final being hell with rentals. It was luck that my rental Primeape critical hit his Muk with a cross chop and I won! After, I have to use my own pokes. Still too hard, though.

Anyways, it was incredibly hard, incredibly rigged, but an incredibly amazing game! I still am trying to beat it. I like this as my favourite pokemon game (probably). :D

I am trying to figure out how to hack my pokemon so they are all shiny and have max stats for this game, but not sure exactly how to do it. Still waiting for a response in the other thread.

deathbymanga March 6th, 2013 3:29 PM

This game was my first time playing a friend's game. I only had Stadium, but as we talked, I found out that he had the second one, so he brought it over and we played. It's sad though, I don't remember doing anything else at all with him, and we only did it once

dungeonmaster201 March 21st, 2013 10:55 PM

I remember Pokemon stadium, I had done and completed a full Lets Play of it both rounds, Playing through I had only 3 losses. the entire LP.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7ADFDE9F5F7DBCF9&feature=view_all

I'm thinking when I complete my Lets Play of Fallout 3 of going back and continuing my LP of Pokemon Stadium 2,

Mothman~ March 30th, 2013 3:24 PM

I loved Stadium 2. I can't tell you how much time I poured into that game. I never made it to Round 2 though, and that's because I could never get far in the Little Cup. Hated that one so much.

Renemesis March 30th, 2013 4:23 PM

My fondest memory(s) were repeatedly whooping my sister's asses in this game :)
