You can catch Giratina on Victory Road. I don't know if Mewtwo is available after E4, have not gotten that far myself.

What levels were your pokes at when you beat the pokemon league?
Got Electrivire, Ninetails, Togekiss, Lucario, Scizor and Empoleon at 65-70ish atm, going for e4 now.

Actually, after you beat the whole game you CAN catch Genesect

Shnaus March 27th, 2013 11:45 AM

Aha, did not know that!
Probably shouldn't have been so sure about what is what since i haven't finished the game yet -.-

Where do you find Dratini, btw? Wanting to replace Togekiss.
Also wanting to replace Lucario with Heracross, all those eartquakes are wrecking my team(beat the e4 once, barely). Anyone tried using him ingame? Is it worth switching?

sharathbhat March 27th, 2013 11:47 AM

Same as you ,my team pokemon was 65-70 level.. was not so tough n not easy too.. average. if u have an ice type or dragon type it would be easy to beat the dragon trainer in e4.. i felt difficult against hydreigon. Even though you have empoleon but it is little bit slow so your opponent may kill with ground attacks.. better if you give quick claw to empoleon.. thanks for your reply

Dratini is available in the game corner . keep Lucario in your team.. it helped me a lot .. it learns dragon pulse around 60th level so u can also kill dragon pokemons in e4

Thanks mate! Completely slipped my mind :P

Going to swap Lucario, Scizor and Togekiss for Hydreigon, Dragonite and Heracross, i think. Had 3 steeltypes in my team wich screwed my against fire, fight and ground. Empoleon rocked with ice beam, and it can live a hit from basicly anything, so it gets to stay.

Scizor did sweep Agatha with SD + Night slash/ X-Scissor though.
Just felt like mixing it up before the rematches.

sharathbhat March 27th, 2013 9:28 PM

Nice team buddy.. Heracross is really very strong pokemon but its 4x weakness to flying type moves.. dragonite is awesome. dragonite and gible are my favorites .. unfortunately i think there is no gible in this game.. I started to play 2nd time with torchic .. now its combusken .. combusken has hyper cutter .. awesome

Is there a VS Seeker in this hack? If so, then where can I find it since it's not in Vermillion.

Where's the VS Seeker? Is it even in this game?

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Doesnt took the Vs. Seeker out.

This hack is amazing! I love it, however, is it in any way possible to use the randomiser on this rom? I'd love to give it another run through.

It *is* a nice sprite, but I'm not quite capable enough to trim it down myself so it'll still look good in 64x64, so I'm just going to go back to the FR Mantine sprite.

Don't worry I understand completely, I never thought you'd stolen it or anything like that, looking at its statistics with 32 downloads and 300 and somthing views I wouldn't be surprised if people were copying it elsewhere or tweaking it. If you'd still like to use it, I've got a 64x64 version myself. I'll post it here in case you want it :)

I was also wondering if you'd be able to spot me a PM or something with some basic information on how you've been able to create new abilities? I understand if this is private information or difficult to explain, but it's a feature I've been wanting to look into and currently don't know how to go about doing it, due to lack of offsets and such. I do understand however that it requires ASM. Thanks for your time!

you can use the randomizer on it but keep in mind that there are only 151 pokemon and that's all about it

Dark Revenger April 7th, 2013 1:26 AM

Awwww what a lovely work of art. I just played it for 14 hours without a pause (I might be crazy -- the truth is this hack is crazy).

You, Sir, did a truly wonderful job. You managed in the hard task to revive a classic without actually ruining it -- it's indeed the opposite! All the new moves and abilities are flawlessly implemented in the game, the difficulty is very well balanced and, most of all, this hack is a REAL FUN to play with.

GG man. Looking forward your next release.

Myc Shredder April 9th, 2013 9:20 AM

One of the best hacks I've ever played!

Just finished my second run with Empoleon as my starter (this guy is a beast! Serperior was killing me on my first run). Trained a Staraptor & Gliscor once again (those two are must haves for me). For the rest of my team I went with two majestic Lucarios (a Choice Band'ed physical attacker with Crunch, High Jump Kick, Iron Tail & Swords Dance; its special counterpart with Dragon Pulse, Aura Sphere, Dark Pulse & Nasty Plot); dragons, ghosts, dark, rock & steel types never had a prayer! I reserved the last spot for Metagross who, although a fatal physical beast, was also risky against Earthquakers, especially when resorting to its less accurate Superpower & Meteor Mash.

Once again great job on the hack and huge thanks to the developper!

TrollShammy80 April 9th, 2013 1:24 PM

I just got this hack started last night I love the starters... I couldn't decided who i wanted xD...

Great job on this hack I 120% love it, and I thought I was sick of Fire Red hacks lol

Axelmorph April 13th, 2013 5:58 AM

Indeed quite a great hack, simple yet fun, played it and I can say that I'm quite impressed with the original sounds of the 4th and 5th generation pokèmon, great job! :D

Giant Magikarp April 18th, 2013 12:11 AM

I think this is the best FireRed hack that I have played.

I like how you inserted Gen. 4 and 5 abilities and attacks but I don't like the idea that the Elite 4 have Pokemon that is unobtainable by the player.

Aryan143 April 18th, 2013 6:55 AM

Another amazing hack. Keep it up! I love the new pokemons that are in it.

chaosakita May 5th, 2013 7:35 PM

OP, this looks amazing! I'm going to have to play it soon. But how did you program in new abilities?

foxyrocksjh May 6th, 2013 5:21 AM

I have literally just beat the game 10 minutes ago. if you want to know what my team is then it's a level 90 volcarona, a level 90 genosect, a level 100 blaziken, a level 93 lucario, a level 90 ferrothorn and a level 92 hydreigon. man this game was hard but it was epic adn fun as hell. man whoever made this is an awsome hacker but there should be more gen 3 pokemon. in particular sceptile and the weather trio. but still an awsome game.

Most of the new abilities require ASM while others can be done by changing existing abilities.

unowen May 11th, 2013 7:53 PM

This hack is awesome so far I've played it!
I wished that it could be upgraded with more Pokemon (possibly make all of them available, lol) but it's still a good game nevertheless.
...I need a banner of this, lol

Ankarit May 14th, 2013 5:28 AM

Good job. I like the innovations that you have introduced

DoesntKnowHowToPlay May 18th, 2013 8:30 AM

it's time for yet another insubstantial update

Changelog:
Spoiler:
Put in a bit of RSE music.
Adjusted Snivy line's level-up movepool so it isn't stuck with terrible moves for as long.
Gave Tentacruel Swords Dance and Power Whip by relearner.
Murkrow now evolves at level 37 instead of by stone.
Drastically raised Smeargle's stats. I know this might seem a bit broken, but lacking Spore and being in an environment where most things have broad, useful movepools makes it very hard for it to find a niche.
Jynx line now gets Water Absorb as a secondary ability.
Magmar and Magmortar get ThunderPunch by relearner.
Polished up some pokedex entries.
Inserted Damp Rock, Heat Rock, Light Clay.
The game no longer makes fun of you for forgetting to enable Set mode.
Charge now raises special defense.
Polished Drain Punch and Close Combat animations.
TM26 is once more obtainable from Giovanni and the TM merchant.
Fixed the silly tile errors in Lance's room.
Replaces various sprites. (Thanks for permission to use the Mantine, 11bayerf1!)
Fixed Technician and Multiscale not working under certain circumstances.
Moved the hard patch to its own folder so it'll be less confusing to patch properly.

Uzumaki Naruto Jr. May 19th, 2013 4:09 PM

Just thought I would share a bug. Whenever you apply your patch with a rom base, it seems to mess up warps. Like for instance, I tested this with the 'Pigbag' base for firered, and then applied your patch, I was playing the game, all of going good, then when I try entering a building, such as Prof. Oak's Lab, it freezes. =/

Could be a small issue regarding mixing ROM Bases and a hack. Not really a god idea as there may be a conflict. Technically shouldn't happen as I made that ROM Base you used and changed nothing in the lab, but you never know. Play it without the ROM Base.

long21 May 21st, 2013 12:21 AM

I love this hack very much. It's awesome. But I have found a bug. When I battle with opponents that have 2 more pokemons I could not switch my pokemon to battle in first turn after I defeated opponent's first pokemon. Can you fix it?

You know,

I didn't actually take the "[trainer] is about to send out something. Will [player] cheat?" string out of the ROM. Nor did I change the pointer to it to point to the old one. Maybe I should before someone accuses me of being deceptive about my deceptive changelog, even though it nonetheless never shows up anymore.

(straight answer: that's not a bug)

Hmm, well it would be very nice to use updated graphics. =D But I understand, maybe you could try it yourself and fix it. O.o
And DoesntKnowHowToPlay, maybe you could try making the rom base more compatible. =3

As long as you don't distribute it, I'm open for you importing the tilesets and pallettes over using Advance Map's Block Editor, if the creator allows you anyway. I can't make a ROM Base work for one hack as I did it on a clean ROM, as a base for others to build on, not for hacks to be patched onto it straightaway.

Hmm.. nice. But I don't know how to do that. xD And I would only use it for my own personal use. No distribution at all.

zaubster May 23rd, 2013 7:27 AM

I was wondering, if there is a list of wild pokemon on routes somewhere?

Great hack, man.

MasterLucario13 May 24th, 2013 7:10 PM

Wow. This hack blows me away. I've been following this hack since it came out, and
I gotta say this is really distinguished from other FR hacks. You really made a quality hack. I just started playing it today for the first time and I took on Brock. I swept him with my Petilil at level 13 with +2 from growth and a bunch of absorbs. I feel I'm really going to enjoy this.

Chronosplit June 1st, 2013 10:27 AM

Hey doesn't, have you ever thought of inserting Choice Specs to be alongside Choice Band since you're putting in newer items? Or is that even possible as of yet?

MasterLucario13 June 1st, 2013 11:17 AM

Just beat E4 with
Blaziken
Cloyster (I finally got to use this guy!)
Lilligant
Electivire
Togekiss
Nidoking

Pretty sweet squad. Amazing game. Loved the new sprites, type changes, especially loved no Sevii Islands! Looking forward to your next game!

I don't know how I forgot to put that in the changelog, but Choice Specs were added along with the other items. It was actually the first of the lot that I got working. They're obtainable in Saffron's Fighting Dojo and in the lowest floor of Cerulean Cave.

If anyone is still looking for the others, they're located in Pokemon Tower, Seafoam Islands, and the Safari Zone. They replace existing (non-valuable) items, but with different flags so they're still obtainable on an old save.

Sorry for totally missing this post- there is not one currently, but I might be able to whip one up. There's also the in-game Pokedex if you're looking for a specific mon- the only normal ones you won't see on trainers at some point are Abra (game corner exclusive), Beldum (Diglett's Tunnel), Larvesta (Safari Zone and Pokemon Mansion), and the Chansey line (everywhere outside).

Casualpokegamer22 June 2nd, 2013 4:21 AM

GREAT hack I LOVE Empoleon but the champion is kinda OP with the legendary..

Southueki June 2nd, 2013 11:27 AM

Like I've said so many times before, this hack is amazing !

I would love if you could keep a few updates, with maybe new moves or abilities, such as Prankster (if that's even possible).

And I know this would be asking alot, but maybe a new version (let's call it YetAnotherPokémonGreen ahah) with the same exact features, but different pokémon ! It would be amazing. Kudos!

legendary's BST is 600 instead of 680 making them more akin to Dragonite and other psuedo-legendaries or legendary trios than they are to their original counterparts

Gotta quick question. I got that murkrow nicknamed lucky, and I've leveled him
up to 45 and he still hasn't evolved. Jw about that but Ill keep using him and see if he wants to evolve anytime soon. Btw great hack! I've had my eyes glued to my android for a few days now.
Oh and I ran into a shiny ferrothorn and he killed me :( I hope I get another chance at him lol

chaosakita July 1st, 2013 6:38 PM

rhettz_emboar July 9th, 2013 5:18 AM

how many new moves are exactly in this game?

By the way, great hack!keep it up..

oshizlgzngahr July 13th, 2013 3:34 AM

Have been playing this hack for about 2-3 hours now, and I got to say, I love it. The only thing I dislike is not being able to switch out your Pokemon in battle, but I guess that makes it harder.

zweetkalamares July 13th, 2013 4:21 AM

why can't i switch pokemon?

oshizlgzngahr July 13th, 2013 6:37 AM

Okay, I'm sorry but I used the cheat to receive the VS Seeker. I am so impatient in raising them on wild Pokémon, so I used the cheat. But when I read "cheater pants" as the name for the VS Seeker I started dying of laughter.

Glazyalyz July 15th, 2013 9:46 AM

Well I just wanted to say really nice hack but I feel that the pokemon are very OP. They have a lot of strong moves at very early levels. Another thing is that why can't we switch pokemon in trainer battles when we faint the enemy's pokemon? But out of that I really love this hack. Keep up the great work!

SuperSmashBrosU July 27th, 2013 1:31 AM

Can you play this hack on android? because I was able to play liquid crystal/flora sky/and dark rising on my phone. And so I'm wondering if this is able too. btw I'm using droidemu.

Don't you worry, all pokemon even out and are viable. Normally the ones that learn huge things early on do that for a reason.

Set mode everywhere was intentional. Before it was made to not announce what was coming next (like Pure White), but really for the difficulty's sake this served it's just plain makes more sense to have it Set everywhere.

Unless your emulator is not an emulator, it can play everything.

Having said that, Droidemu is pretty awful especially for the high price though everything is played. You should be using MyBoy at least, if not GBA.emu or retroarch.

SuperSmashBrosU July 27th, 2013 1:33 PM

Actually droidemu isn't all that bad and IMO is better than myboy free. But that just my opinion. But I'll give it a try.

Try another ROM, most likely you have the wrong version.

Chaos Rush August 10th, 2013 12:29 AM

So I'm going to give this hack a run through, and as I was looking at sprites with Wichu's editor (yeah don't judge me :P), the Golurk backsprite you're using has some serious anatomical errors. Here's the Golurk sprite from my project, which is 100% anatomically accurate:
http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o625/ChaosRush/64x64%20Project%20Gen%20V/676_zps26c4c504.png
Sorry, just nitpicking

DoesntKnowHowToPlay August 13th, 2013 8:03 PM

V1.14 is here- this is mostly a sprite update though.

Changelog:
Spoiler:

A bunch of new sprites (including the Golurk back above- I'm keeping the front though)
Fixed the secondary cry table so moves like Growl and Hyper Voice won't sound terrible.
Made a few minor moveset tweaks.
Decapitalized all the trainers this time, including the ones that definitely are sevii-locked.
Light Clay, Damp Rocks, and Heat Rocks are now held by certain wild pokemon.
Gigalith now gets the Sunny Day TM.
Hippopotas and Hippowdon now get the Sandstorm TM (trust me i'm good at this)
Pokedex habitats and search lists now make sense.
Trainers no longer use items in battle, because having played games without them I find that it's much more fun (even if a bit easier sometimes).
The Hard Mode patch is actually included in the zip this time hopefully.
Added a patch for Lunatic mode. Take care, as unlike Hard's slightly rougher game, this one is flagrantly unbalanced nonsense. The level curve is untouched though, so you won't need to grind (??)
As for what actually changed...that's for y'all to find out. Ehehehe.

The Zororoaster August 15th, 2013 10:43 AM

Going through this blind on Lunatic Mode. This is awesome :) Even a few of the normal trainers on Route 3 have been sending me back to the Pokemon Center(curse you Bug Catcher Greg and your overpowered Butterfree). I've definitely had to use a lot of strategy so far. Great early game! Hopefully it continues getting awesome from here.

Spoiler:

What's the secret of Lunatic Mode? Do the enemy Pokemon have EVs? My rival's Pokemon were doing a shocking amount of damage, and even Caterpie spam was giving me some trouble. Do my Pokemon have min IVs? I must know.

Also Brock is not the "Rock-solid" gym leader anymore. Change it you liar :P Although I guess I should have been able to guess from his first minion. I think it's a good change, completely caught me off guard

Overall good hack so far. I approve of the Pokemon you added to the game, as they actually are there to improve gameplay as opposed to being there for the sake of being able to say "hur-dur Gen 5 Pokemon" (screw you for putting Hustle on Nidoran though, so many misses T.T) I will continue to play this hack and see where it goes from here!

Woah, error. Munna's Pokedex data after being caught pulls up Torchic. And I cannot select it in the Pokedex.

Munna also seems to have a really low EXP rate.

Quote:

whoops

I forgot to give it a habitat, so yeah. Musharna won't show up properly either if you get it- I'll roll out a fix for that tonight. Also its exp rate is on par with most of the other early-game mons- it could probably stand to be higher given where it appears, though.

Here, have a Munna hotfix.

Changelog:
Spoiler:
Munna and Musharna now have proper habitat data.
Raised Munna's exp rate a bit.

The Zororoaster August 16th, 2013 8:17 AM

Thanks for the fix! Now I can look her up at any time. Btw I love your idea with the Pokedex. Now their entries are actually useful, and I'm much less tempted to just look up every single solitary thing on Bulbapedia.

Problems I've encountered with the mid-game.
1. There is no Musharna on Route 12. I abused this to go to Celadon early(you only have to face one trainer between Lavender and Celadon if you're sneaky). I abused this to get the evolution stones, Celadon TMs, and Psychic all before I even faced Surge. While I kind of like the idea of being able to skip Rock Tunnel(always hated that cave), and I love the idea of having to be sneaky, I don't like being able to get all of this stuff early, way too easy. You should rearrange Route 8 so that you have to face a few more trainers. Maybe a few moving trainers that you can avoid with skill and then 3 trainers that you absolutely have to face. For the player this means that if you want to skip Rock Tunnel you have to adjust your Pokemon to the curve. Also all of route 12 is glitched. I cannot open the door to the Rod house and the only fisherman on that route will not talk to me. There are no trainers on it, and I think that's kindof odd(though I don't mind it).

2.There is no Rival battle on the S.S. Anne. Why? The S.S. Anne is a really easy dungeon, the Rival battle would definitely make it tougher.

The following points are opinions, take them as you may.
3.I'm not so sure about that Scald animation. Its definitely one way to do it, and its pretty accurate, but have you considered maybe using the animation for Aqua Jet + the steam? Scald is a really powerful move, but the water sport animation makes it seem kind of weak.

4.Mid-game Butterfree is much weaker than early-game Butterfree. It appears as if you have removed Confusion from him in the mid-game. That makes him so much weaker, as that was practically his only asset.

5.Once or twice or three times I've blacked out because I was rushing too fast on the way back to a Pokemon Center and faced a trainer with my weakened Pokemon. You should move some of the trainers around so that I don't expect them and that happens more often >:D They should still be able to be avoidable if the player is careful though.

Still enjoying the game, one of the best times I've had with Pokemon in awhile. I have a pretty good team so far. Liligant, Musharna, Nidoqueen, Combusken, Elekid, and Deino. I can see these guys doing well all the way through late game(I don't like switching Pokemon and wasting EXP and TM). I just now realized that all of the best TMs are in Rocket Corner(I usually play Blue and am used to just being given them) so I'm saving my money like a madman. Really cool, as money usually is a non-factor for me in Pokemon games.

1.) I'm not sure how Route 12 got as messed up as it did but fortunately it was a simple fix to get it back to normal. You aren't supposed to be able to sequence break there- I fully intend for players to go through Rock Tunnel (though AFTER that point the sequence starts to get muddled and sneakiness is encouraged to the extent it was in FR).

2.) It turns out there's a script in Lavender Town that sets the flag used by the S.S. Anne rival so you won't see him level down if you trade in a Cut user- I'm guessing that's why you didn't find him.

3.) I'm not a fan of how Scald turned out either, but I wound up scrapping a lot of concepts for the animation due to implementation issues so I'm not too eager to revisit it soon.

4.) Butterfree picks up Gust at 16, which does slightly more than Confusion thanks to STAB and hits pretty much the same things except Poison-types- if you like Psychic coverage there's Psybeam at 26, and at 30 it picks up Silver Wind which gives good general coverage. Somewhat more alarming is Sleep Powder at 22, which is nasty with CompoundEyes and a big part of why Butterfree remains scary through endgame.

Anyway here's a version with Route 12's events fixed- note that this means you should probably go back to the main sequence before applying it unless you want to do Rock Tunnel in reverse. If I hear of more game-breaking bugs cropping up I'm probably just going to grab 1.13 and re-apply all the changes to it because this is getting rather annoying.

The Zororoaster August 17th, 2013 1:54 PM

Okay, I'm applying the patch now. The stretch between the 2nd gym and the Rock Tunnel was made easier, but don't worry, I still have all of Celadon and beyond to kick my ass.

I totally get what you mean with Scald, some things aren't worth the effort :) Its there and it works, so you can put it very low on the priority list.

And I'm not actually the one using a Butterfree, I'm sure he's pretty balanced if you use him. I'm commenting on the Bug Catchers you have to face before Rock Tunnel. They use Butterfrees without any Psychic moves, that makes them pretty weak. Gust may be STAB, but it is also going off Butterfree's much weaker attack stat, as opposed to his high Special Attack. Trust me, I blacked out to a Butterfree with Confusion(stop laughing), but easily 2HKOd the later ones with barely a scratch.

Tbh I totally forgot that Gust was Special. Oops, disregard that comment, I guess my team was just better when I faced the other Butterfrees.

Stunfisk has the same Pokedex error as Musharna I believe.

Spoiler:

I loved what you did with Farfetch'd. His name is much more appropriate now. I'm seriously considering stealing that idea for my own hack.

Is there a chance you would consider increasing the percent chance on a Magnemite holding Magnet? I grinded for over 30 minutes, no success.

Electivire is not able to learn Flamethrower. Not sure if you chose to eliminate that from his moveset or not, but I'd really like to be able to hit Grass types, plz and thk u ;)

This game is a blast, Lunatic mode definitely slows down the pace of the game, but the extra challenge is so worth it, and I really feel like I've worked for my victories. Most satisfying moment so far has definitely been taking down Erika. That last Pokemon was...evil. I also really like the level you chose for the Safari Zone Pokemon. They are actually at a level where I'm considering adding them to my team. I'm going to have to make some hard choices.

Volt Absorb does not absorb Thunder Wave.

Route 21 turns this from a great hack into the best Fire Red hack ever made.

The midgame Butterfrees have Whirlwind and other status moves for the AI to trip up on, and also occur at a point where your entire team isn't likely to be unevolved. I think it's only natural that they'd be less threatening than the one on Route 3.

It's the same rate as canon Metal Coats are for them, and you don't *need* it early-game so I'm not sure on this one. I'll consider making it a common hold item for Magneton, though.

You know for all the people that say Thor is really good I'm surprised this managed to slip by all this time, especially when it struggles in early-game. I think I'll hold off on fixes for now (you can view Stunfisk's entry manually through the index, and I know why that breaks) since there's a few other things I might do- Evire can get Fire Punch by relearner if you head to Cinnabar though.

I might try to change it in the future, but that's the case in every Gen 3 game.

Thanks for the feedback, by the way! I really appreciate it.

Wow, This is pretty cool!

UseablePizza August 20th, 2013 1:36 PM

Love this mod. It is really good, Haven't played pokemon in years but this got me right back into it.

Just beat the elite four the first time round. I was getting an error with having a 64k save opposed to a 128k. I changed that before I defeated my rival. But after the credits it reloads a new game. Do I have to start again or is there a fix?

You'll have to start over, I'm afraid. Most Pokemon hacks are like this- it's why I encourage making sure you can hard save instead of relying entirely on savestates. If you're using VBA, you can transfer your mons to a new file rather easily with the memory viewer- save x258 bytes from x02024284 on your complete savestate, then load that in at the same offset in your new game. The mons won't obey, but they should be enough of a crutch to let you speed back through the game.

UseablePizza August 21st, 2013 6:21 PM

Oh yep, thanks for that hint about rescuing my 'mons.

pawell6 August 28th, 2013 2:18 AM

Hey Doesnt, I think I found a bug: all newly catched and received from npc pokemons seem to have 0 IV in all stats.

Orifiel August 28th, 2013 2:23 AM

Good work. I'll try this one later on.

Falsever August 28th, 2013 3:06 AM

Wow, this hack's so great!
I like how you inserted newer gens Pokémon.
Btw, I think Yanma in Viridian Forest is too early, or it's just me?
Anyway, keep up the amazing work like this!

This happened to me too. I halfway thought that I had the hard mode patch in, but nope.

DoesntKnowHowToPlay August 28th, 2013 7:18 PM

This fixes the IV issue, along with a few others.
Changelog:
Spoiler:

Fixed Stunfisk's pokedex data.
Electivire now learns Flamethrower.
Implemented Motor Drive.
Thunder Wave no longer bypasses Volt Absorb.
Added Energy Ball to Jynx's movepool.
Added a Fly spot outside of Victory Road.
Decapitalized stat modifiers.
Fixed randomization of player IVs.

ricorbk August 28th, 2013 7:46 PM

I like how much you have altered the hack.... question i'm very far in game and I would to like to know, is it possible for me to continue my old file on the new updated one

DoesntKnowHowToPlay August 29th, 2013 5:21 AM

Yes. I try to maintain backwards compatibility when updating, so you should be fine.

This excites me alot. Time to pick up that Elekid!

Quick question, does this replace an ability? or did you just
do what you told me earlier and branch to free space?

DoesntKnowHowToPlay August 29th, 2013 5:48 AM

It replaces Cacophony because I am lazy and as far as I can tell that doesn't actually do anything. I also still have a couple unused abilities on the chopping block if I get around to adding more, so I intend to keep being lazy. I did have to branch out into free space to extend the absorption check, write Motor Drive's general checks, and write battle script for it though.

pawell6 August 30th, 2013 4:23 AM

There's a bug in battle with rival at S.S. ANNE ship. Once the battle begins only black screen shows up (music keeps on playing though)

DoesntKnowHowToPlay August 30th, 2013 10:18 AM

I'm not sure how this managed to slip by since I did most of my testing on rematch Lorelei, but have a fix.

Changelog:
Spoiler:
Every other major trainer should no longer crash the game.

lowlife September 5th, 2013 9:48 AM

No Kingdra...goddammit man thats a dealbreaker :( also do those physical/special split patches work? I mean I tried to patch a clean fire red rom but it doesnt seem to add those marks wether a move is phys, spe or status.

You have to do that yourself. I suggest reading through the thread on the split in the Research and Development subforum if you want to learn about that.

lit000 September 13th, 2013 3:56 PM

i have the beta 1.3, but i think it the game was already updated to 1.5.

May I ask the differences between the two?

DoesntKnowHowToPlay September 13th, 2013 6:01 PM

If you actually meant 1.3, that version is ancient and very outdated- lots of sprites have been changed, a bunch of glitches fixed, balance quirks resolved, and it's in general a much more solid game. If you meant 1.13, then all your answers can be found in the changelogs on the previous page.

(also i never released a public beta for this but if that's actually beta you meant then that version only went up to koga, and was never intended to leave a small group of confidants)

lit000 September 13th, 2013 8:25 PM

I mean I downloaded that beta 1.3 last july also from this thread, I already finished the elite four round 2 (I think that's already the end of this game). So, you mean the changes were only the bugs and some sprites?

Maybe I'll just have to check it myself.

Renton Thurston September 14th, 2013 8:21 AM

Hey I just started playing your hack and you've done great job with the sprites, new moves, and the addition of the physical/special split :) I was just wondering if Eevee is obtainable in this game? I was planning on getting an Espeon. Also, have you considered giving Blaziken the speed boost ability? o:

Okay I looked over my files and there never was a beta 1.3. There was beta 0.3, which was private, and public 1.3, which was never posted on Pokecommunity and is over a year old. There is also public 1.13, which is not the same as 1.3- you can see the changelogs after it on the last page. Seriously, everything that's changed is on page 7.

Eevee is not obtainable, as it consumes a lot of slots, does nothing interesting in later gens, and has evolutions that I wasn't able to implement when I started this. Blaziken intentionally does not have Speed Boost- it's more than powerful enough without it and would be blatantly overpowered with it.

Hm, alright that's fully understandable thanks for the response! :)

Renton Thurston September 15th, 2013 4:39 PM

Sorry for the double post but I'm having another issue in the game I'm hoping you can clear up with me. How does Murkrow evolve? Because I checked your "misc" notes and it says via moon stone however, whenever I try to use it is says "no use". My Murkrow is currently level 27 so if it is based on leveling up instead please let me know as I really want a Honchkrow lol.

DoesntKnowHowToPlay September 15th, 2013 5:27 PM

It's by level-up at 37. The pokemon stats doc is a bit out of date as it was compiled by hand.

Oh alright well thanks for the clarification :) btw, I currently picked up a scyther and it was carrying the ability technician. I evolved it into Scizor but it doesn't seem to be doing the boosted damage it should. Is technician the same in this game or is it just in my head lol.

P.S Does Scizor learn bullet punch or bug buzz? because I checked his movepool and it says Bullet Punch is learned at level 1...lol im guessing that's incorrect since you said the misc notes were inaccurate but my scizor is currently level 31 which I caught in the Safari Zone as a Scyther as mentioned earlier. Sorry for these questions, I just really want to take advantage with his ability and the physical/special gen split in this game lol.

Unneeded in this hack actually. Both fossils obtained at Mt. Moon are Aerodactyl.

Scizor actually does get Bullet Punch at level 1- this means it requires the relearner's services to learn the move. He's in Cinnabar if you missed him.

Anyway, thanks for pointing me to Technician as it was indeed bugged- fix is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/g6lmjttmeouah8a/YetAnotherFRHackv1.16.zip

Changelog:
Spoiler:
Fixed legendaries having pants-on-head retarded movepools that were meant for Lunatic.
Fixed an issue where Technician would arbitrarily fail.
Improved various sprites.

Hello, I'm a new member of this Community. I would like to ask about a hack called 'Pokemon Yet Another Fire Red Hack.' I'm a bit disappointed that I cannot go pass through this area, since my screen turns black whenever I talk with this individual in Victory Road. Please help ASAP! (>_<). I'm really enjoying the hack but got stuck in a brick wall due to this issue.
Thanks in advance.
P.S: How do I post pictures to specifically show what I want to show.

dungpham1997 September 27th, 2013 2:17 AM

hey can i ask you something? why can't i switch pokemon in a trainer's battle? pls reply me soon. thank you :)

Reonen Zeruel September 27th, 2013 3:33 AM

@dungpham1997

Yeah, I had the same question as well, when I first played the game, which was a couple of days ago. But then, I realized that not being able to switch Pokemon after defeating an opponent(s) Pokemon has been disabled, due to the reason, well supposedly after reading the previous posts in this Community is part of the challenge of the hack. Hope my response helped you in anyway.

PS: I'm playing v1.15 at the moment.

Misledangel September 27th, 2013 6:16 AM

Hey I am new here :) please to meet you all anyways , Doesnt i played your hack it was wonderful and i for one didnt encounter any glitches loved the physical and special split well off to my question so i was modding you hack ofcourse for my own use only as i am new to hacking i have had troubles anyways i have made scripts added the sprites and all but now what i cant seem to do is change habitats of pokemon is it possible ?

DoesntKnowHowToPlay September 27th, 2013 6:58 PM

Victory Road should actually be completable now, sorry about that

v1.16b Changelog:
Spoiler:
Ace Trainer Ray should no longer crash the game.

Reonen Zeruel September 28th, 2013 2:06 AM

@DoestKnowHowToPlay,

Thank you for replying, and yeah I got pass through that issue, :3.

Oh I'm sorry if I'm going to ask another question but, how do you get Genesect in 'Pokemon Yet Another Fire Red Hack'?

Thanks in advance, :3.

Yeah, I just taught my Scizor Bullet Punch thanks, now I shall crush my foes with the new fix >:) lolol but before I do, how do I patch this new version? do I just patch over the game as it is now or do I need another Fire Red base rom?

P.S I found another minor bug in the game, its not a huge deal but when Stunkfish is caught, his data appears to be Torchic's, just wanted to let you know :s

-Renton

Reonen Zeruel September 28th, 2013 1:49 PM

@Renton Thurston,

You'll need another new clean Fire Red file for the new patch. Now, if you want to load your old file, you'll have to rename your old file the same as your new PYAFRH rom. For example:

New File: Pokemon YFRA. Old save file: Pokemon YetAnotherFireRed
Old save file ------------> Pokemon YFRA.

For the new save file, since it's from an previous version, you'll have to manually go to:

File
- Load
- Open Pokemon YFRA (save file, not GBA file).

After this, you can go back to saving it normally like, 'Shift+F1.' Then save it in the actual game.

Hope my response helps you.

sum182 September 29th, 2013 10:48 AM
