Habitat List

This was a really cool addition. Your Pokedex now list all Pokes in a area and tells you when you have encountered them all. What did you think about it?
I thought it is really helpful not having to google all Pokemon in a route, now you can just check the Dex and see.

Xander Olivieri October 8th, 2012 6:22 PM

I'm being all OCD with that dang list. XD

I HAVE to finish the list. Dang Gamefreak and making all these OCD inducing nicknacks XD

You played the Jap. version right? Does it also register swarm and post-national dex Pokemon?

Xander Olivieri October 8th, 2012 6:30 PM

No I didn't play the Jap version. This was the first time I heard of the Habitat list XD

Oh I thought you did since you knew so much and Moderated the section, but back to your post, yeah I am OCD as well, and really like how it tells you which ones you have caught in the area. Makes completing the Dex way easier.

LividZephyr October 8th, 2012 7:40 PM

Okay, maybe I do have to get this then. I totally wanted something like this ages ago! This will definitely help with Unova Pokedex completion

Not that I'm one to catch 'em all, but I want to discover them all and capture the right ones for my team. I will only complete the UnovaDex at most, and that's a stretch.

I agree. this Is a fantastic addition to the game

Zayphora October 9th, 2012 11:55 AM

This is really awesome. It's my goal to catch all of the Unova Dex ones so I can get to the Nature Reserve so this is awesome!!

luke October 9th, 2012 9:55 PM

This is by far my favorite feature introduced along with the game asking if you want to use another Repel. Now just to bring back auto-run and I'll be a happy camper. :)

PkmTrainer October 10th, 2012 12:21 AM

This is something that should have been in the games from the start and I'm happy they finally added it.

cockatoo777 October 10th, 2012 3:57 AM

The habitat list is great as it is more specific than the "location" tab in the pokedex. I didn't know riolu was catchable so early on in the game!

60 October 13th, 2012 9:16 PM

I get like super excited when I get that stamp after completing an area. So I'll definitely be catching them all haha. The Driftveil Bridge was awesome because I got the stamp after catching a single Ducklett.

Rivvon October 18th, 2012 10:48 PM

Definitely one of the best new features in the games. It's the only non-item I have registered to the Y-menu. I love being able to just check what I need to catch by area instead of going down the PokeDex and and flying from route to route. It's wonderfully convenient, and I love it!

curiousnathan October 18th, 2012 10:50 PM

An amazing feature. That's all I really have to say. I loved the convenience it put forth and it really made my gaming experience run a bit smoother by taking out the hassle of - like you said - having to search Pokemon locations on Serebii etc.

Definitely a welcomed feature, and I'd be more than happy for it to return in future games.

I didn't know about this until I first played Black 2 last week, I think it's a great addition and it certainly helps when trying to fill up the Pokedex.

Hikamaru October 19th, 2012 4:23 AM

Again, I only saw footage through a YouTube video but I have to say this is a neat feature, it makes you want to complete the Pokedex more.

Psystar63 October 19th, 2012 5:02 AM

I'm surprised that they didn't add something like this earlier. It's a really helpful addition. You can find out what Pokemon can be found in Unova without having to look it up on Serebii. So when you see a Pokemon you really want, you just go to the Habitat list to see where (or if) you can find it in Unova. And it also tells you which Pokemon can be found in the grass, by surfing or fishing.

rizoph October 19th, 2012 7:49 AM

I actually haven't used it yet. Imma go check it out.

Syltti October 19th, 2012 11:39 AM

Saved me from wasting my time trying to find a Pokemon and looking in the wrong place, and told me what Pokemon were in each new place (provided that list was already complete).

Love it so much~

JollyRoger25 October 19th, 2012 11:58 AM

I like the habitat list, allows me to get off of things like Serebii.net or Bulbapedia to see what I have or haven't captured.

Legobricks October 20th, 2012 7:55 AM

I've never wanted to search a route for monsters (or if I do, say early on to scout my options, I'd only want to use a list that starts as complete anyway), only been after a specific monster and wanted to know what route it's on, so the habitat list is really of no use to me. I may just be too used to online resources, though; I tend to play at the same desk as my computer.

alisaie October 29th, 2012 12:53 AM

I love the Habitat list. Though now it's starting to bother me due to the later routes as well as the swimming/fishing route that have those really rare evolution Pokemon. But it's one of the new things that I am glad for as it is keeping me occupied and enjoying the game without having to go 'UGH I need to get on the computer and look this up' for a Pokemon later. I can just relax on my bed and play.

... Though sometimes it is tempting to see what Pokemon I am missing from the habitat list online. v_v

TheBestOne October 29th, 2012 1:51 AM

1. Catch all Pokemon in their habitats.
2. Release useless Pokemon that you will never use afterwards

Wateria October 29th, 2012 7:43 AM

I love the habitat list as I can just look up what pokemon I am missing in it with going online to check.

chella182 October 29th, 2012 9:03 AM

I haven't really used it much yet 'cause I decided to do this playthrough not obsessing over catching every available Pokémon in an area right away, however I will be using it once I've completed the storyline and it sounds like it'll be very useful!
