There's only 1 con near me once a year! PAX east! And its normally only indie games ;-;

I have to drive three hours to get there though. Or go to the mall. Or most chain restaurants. Or to do ANYTHING other than hiking.

Pretty sure I'm the only brony for MILES around also. Celestia I hate where I live

DerpyTails March 25th, 2015 6:25 AM

Sorry I haven't been posting here that much (haven't been that much Pony around me until recently)

Anyway, I recently checked out the DVD of Rainbow Rocks from my local library because it's about time I'd watched it, Watched it earlier this morning and I must say that it's WAY better than the first EqG, the only gripes with it:

1. The Dazzlings oozed WAY too much evil (except Sonata Dusk, I felt bad for her being evil)
2. I also felt sorry for Twilight and Sunset (if you watched the movie, you'll understand)

In other Pony news, I'll be going to a Season 5 Premiere Party with my local Brony group on April 4th, Looking Forward to wearing my custom Pinkie Pie shirt and having fun

One more thing: Does anyone here play the MLP CCG here? :)

Meganium March 25th, 2015 7:26 AM

I'm hoping to go to my local brony group on the 4th too! They REALLY want me to go, but I haven't had any word on my schedule for that Saturday. I'm hoping for at least a night shift.

Rainbow Rocks was really worth watching and it was so much better than the first movie, however I do like both equally.

Spoiler:
Maud Pie in that movie though! That was my "holy shit" moment of the movie hahahaa

In terms of the CCG, I'm still learning how to play...but I'm more of a collector rather than a player but I'm willing to change that. I have the Rarity/Princess Celestia deck from Canterlot Nights, and the Princess Cadance/CMC deck from The Crystal Games. Plus a lot of boosters from the first series to the latest. My Vinyl tin is already packed with cards.

Well, I don't have many of the cards, but I DID make a deck around Laughter/Kindness (My main Mane being the CN Fluttershy, but I also have Pinkie Pie with me for in case anyone wants to play with Hearts and Hooves Day rules)

Aisu March 25th, 2015 7:06 PM

I think that Equestria Girls was better than Rainbow Rocks, but it's my opinion. And where was Maud in Rainbow Rocks? I haven't seen it in a while; I can't really remember if I saw her or not.

Spoiler:
She appeared in the scene where Twilight and Sunset were talking at the kitchen. Maud appeared to get some food and iirc she had a "pet rock" with her hahaha. This was at Pinkie's house.

I don't mind the first Equestria Girls movie, I just don't like the Dolls as they look like an unhealthy fusion of Bratz and Monster High (Yes I know the dolls are meant to be for little girls, but that's still no excuse)

Anyway, thanks to Hoopla (a Digital movie lending service from the Public Libraries) I borrowed the G1 My Little Pony Movie (i.e. the one with the Smooze) and I must say, it was okay, not great, but okay :)

Judge Mandolore Shepard March 26th, 2015 5:40 AM

Well I finally got around to seeing Rainbow Rocks on Netflix late last month. I thought it sure was better than Equestria Girls. As for the MLP CCG, I don't have any of the cards.

Spoiler:

I personally enjoyed Rainbow Rocks due to my favorite in the movie got her alignments switched about (you can easily guess whom, she plays a main role in the movie) and in my opinion, the movie was scripted better than the original which is good for the writers.

DerpyTails March 26th, 2015 11:47 AM

Also, I forgot to mention this earlier, but for some reason, I cracked a smile at the Daft Punk Rarity outfit :)

Pinkie-Dawn March 26th, 2015 12:20 PM

Just one more week until Season 5, everyone. Bring on the party cannon!

You can't help but feel sorry for Sunset Shimmer in Rainbow Rocks, and I liked how she's no longer her evil self from the first movie.

So did I, even more than Twilight. However, I freakin' LOVED DJ's appearance at the end, that was pure Awesomeness!

Also, I liked "A Perfect Day for Fun" and "Music to my Ears" as well :)

Polar Spectrum March 29th, 2015 3:46 AM

Finally saw Rainbow Rocks ^^ It was indeed pretty okay I thought. If I ranked it in comparison with the season premiere / finales, it was probably in the lower middle amongst them. Sunset Shimmer showed some real development and was a reeeally engaging character in it.

Also guys.

GUYS

SIX DAYYYYYS

Meganium March 29th, 2015 11:34 AM

Six more days until the season premiere ahhh!

I think I'm gonna dress up as a pony this week for my PC theme. I'm excited weeee!

Pinkie-Dawn March 30th, 2015 10:14 AM

Can't wait for season 5, but I've been recently waking up later than usual, so I'll have to record the episodes just in case.

Aisu March 30th, 2015 6:06 PM

I gotta catch the reruns for the Season 5 premiere ;-;

Brendino March 31st, 2015 3:35 PM

I was going to try and watch through the entire 4th season again before the 5th premiered, but I don't think I'm going to get time to do that now. Still, I'm excited to see what this season holds, as I've tried to stay away from all spoilers/discussion about it, so hopefully there are some surprises!

Oh, and for the next 48 hours, you guys may be in for a treat over in what used to be Pokemon General. You may wanna go have a look.

Meganium March 31st, 2015 9:33 PM

^gogogo!

You know what makes things 20% cooler than the upcoming 5th season? Equestria Daily EXPLODED with this newsbit.

Polar Spectrum April 2nd, 2015 3:51 PM

I actually rewatched most of season 4 over spring break (I went to Detroit, so no - there was no nice beach I should've been on instead) and I have to say, I remembered a lot of negativity about some episodes in season 4, that upon going back and re-watching, seeeems pretty unwarranted.

No, Trenderhoof is still a terrible character imo, and Rarity was out of character in Simple Ways, but the episode over all wasn't BAD. Just not up to par with the rest of the series. ( I remember a huuuuge amount of whining over that ep.) And the Breezies episode, while seemingly marketable - didn't end up being too marketing driven, and in hindsight - was actually a pretty good one I think. I liked the message about sometimes needing tough love.

*hype for Season 5 premiere in just TWO MORE DAYS continues*

Meganium April 2nd, 2015 7:54 PM

I'm actually going to attend a brony meetup this weekend at UHouston. The bronies there are...expecting me to go. Sadly I do have to work in the afternoon to supervise a stock team, but at least i will be able to make it to watch the episode with friends! ^__^

Dedenne1 April 3rd, 2015 2:31 PM

Omg its tommarrow! Yayz!
Is anyone not watching it? :3
Oh ya and this is extremely exciting!:

Also i never saw the season 5 teaser so im extremely excited cause I'll be probably surprised!

Meganium April 3rd, 2015 8:03 PM

*mod post*

Hey guys! Before I go to sleep on the eve of the new season coming tomorrow morning, I would like to make the Spoiler rule extremely clear. I know we uh...tend to get really excited when it comes to discussing the episode as a whole. Be sure you use the SPOILER tags (this button: http://www.pokecommunity.com/images/templates/editor/Spoiler.png)when discussing the episode in detail (or even mentioning the episodes in a bit). We do not want to ruin the experience of other clubbers who haven't seen the episode yet.

Anyone who does not use the spoiler tags will have their posts edited, or in most severe cases, deleted at my discretion. Report to myself or CYD if you see anyone not abiding to this rule (which I'm sure there shouldn't be a problem, but I wanted to let everyone in the group be aware of this!).

This only applies to upcoming Season 5 episodes. Discussions regarding episodes in season 1-4 do not need a spoiler.

Thanks guys! Have fun! I'll be back after work to discuss the episode :D

Pinkie-Dawn April 4th, 2015 8:20 AM

w00t, Season 5 Premiere!

Spoiler:
We now learn the whole of the map in Twilight's castle; it's to detect problems that can easily be solved through the magic of friendship, but I feel it's going to be used for major episodes, so we can still have those wacky episodes within Ponyville. The reason for this is because Starlight, the first villain who isn't god-like disregarding Sunset Shimmer, got away after her plans were thwarted by the Mane Six and her own subordinates after turning them into equalized slaves. Her scheme was definitely a satire of communism. I have a theory that she's going to be the primary antagonist throughout the whole season, forming some kind of anti-Mane Six made up of other antagonistic ponies each of the Mane Six will encounter, and the finale will be a clash between the two groups. Overall, this season truly started with a bang, and if it's progressing how I predicted, then I definitely called it.

Cura April 4th, 2015 10:18 AM

So I have a very interesting and somewhat discussion starting video to share today.

Now coming from someone who has Aspergers (a highly functioning form of autism), this made a lot of strange sense to me when watching this and show me who similar I am to Rainbow Dash in personality and behavior. Some argue that this was done on purposely for the show, but if it was, it makes people like myself whom have mental conditions feel more comfortable watching and enjoying the show as is. Just watch and see what your take is on this video.

destinedjagold April 4th, 2015 5:36 PM

Spoiler:
That. Was. AWESOME! Oh my goodness, the first two episodes of Season 5 is wonderful!

I like how weird 'equal ponies' were. And those smiles... They were creepy as fudge. o.o
And I also liked how 'background ponies' were the ones who helped the Mane 6 regain their Cutie Marks back. That was...weird, but in a good way. ^^
