Random Facts

Tell random facts that you know. The following facts i got from someone on the degrassi site:

I'm sure some of this has already been said but here are some more facts...
If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee. (Hardly seems worth it.)

If you farted consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb. (Now that's more like it!)

The human heart creates enough pressure when it pumps out to the body to squirt blood 30 feet. (O.M.G.!)

A ****roach will live nine days without its head before it starves to death. (Creepy.)

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour. (Do not try this at home...... maybe at work.)

The flea can jump 350 times its body length. It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds. (What could be so tasty on the bottom of a pond?)

Butterflies taste with their feet. (Something I always wanted to know.)

The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue. (Hmmmmmm........)

Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people. (If you're ambidextrous, do you split the difference?)

Elephants are the only animals that cannot jump. (OK, so that would be a good thing....)

A cat's urine glows under a black light. (I wonder who was paid to figure that out?)

An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. (I know some people like that.)

Starfish have no brains. (I know some people like that too.)

Polar bears are left-handed. (If they switch, they'll live a lot longer.)

Umm I believe some of that stuff is inappropiate for younger audiences (and we do have some here).

Well they probably already know what it means so it wouldn't matter but I'm not apart of this so don't go flaming me.

Kairi December 8th, 2003 2:43 PM

Indeed, I’ve gotten this thing in email too. *edits the bad stuff*

I swear someone said everything you just posted on another forum.

Frostweaver December 8th, 2003 3:41 PM

err... it comes from my agenda ^_^;
And who knows where that list comes from... maybe it's posted on the internet and etc...

DragonTrainer December 8th, 2003 6:20 PM

Hmm......

A normal kid eats 1,500 Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by high school

Though he wasn't blind, Edison preferred Braille to reading

It is estimated that about 1/2 to 5 million plants an animals are yet to be discovered

A white shark is always hungry, no matter how uch it eats

Women blink nearly twice as much as men

More people die from bees than shark attacks

In fire deaths, smoke is what usually kills the victim, not the fire

Texas is the only state that can hold their flag up as high as the country's flag

Dogs can only see in black and white

The bible is the most abundant book in the world

Frostweaver December 8th, 2003 6:27 PM

heh.. I know about the bible one. Those book selling rating contests don't include the bible in it as the bible always wins those contests if it participated.

There's a LOT more than just a mere 5 million organisms to be discovered... According to the tree of life theory, we only know rougly about 10% of all organisms known today... God is certainly creative to make all those organisms.

And even more people dies from mosquitoes than bees ^_^;

Iceland has grass and it's not even affected by permafrost. Greenland is almost always covered in snow, and suffers from permafrost all year around. Ironic isn't it...

DragonTrainer December 8th, 2003 6:31 PM

About Iceland.....

Iceland is a really great island, but when vikings found it, they didn't want everyne to go there(How greedy), so they named it iceland to lure everyone away from it

NOOOOO!!!!!! I'm left-handed. T_T Darn.

^^NICK^^ v.2.0 December 9th, 2003 12:39 PM

Well, that doesn't say when exactly at what age lefties die. You could die at 100. -0_0-

…but lefties have more fun during their slightly shorter life! ;p So that’s…good. O.o;

Frostweaver December 9th, 2003 3:00 PM

err... it's not like there's that much of a difference in terms of what you can do between 80 and 90... so I don't see what's the threat for our fellow lefties.

Does it say anything about people who can't hold a pencil correctly? I hope those people won't live an even shorter live than lefties...

(Lefties? Righties?
... Vysage...? Vysage Card for Triple Triad?)

Geometric-sama December 9th, 2003 3:41 PM

I'm sure that it's nothing to do with whether you *are* a lefty or not. It's probably just statistical. After all, 23% of people are lefties so if you analyze the length of people's lives, you're sure to get more long lives in the 77% that are righties.

John Denver December 9th, 2003 6:51 PM

If 1 man dies in a war it's considered a casualty, if a million men die, it's considered a statistic..

wierd..

BOO ya!

err... isn't the saying suppose to be "one death is a tragedy. One million death is a statistic?" Unless we're talking about two very similar but different quote. I got mine from Stalin... and it makes quite a lot of sense o.O;

Lol, are you just copying the 'Blondes have more fun!' saying? XD Anyways, I feel a little better now. >.>; I hope those stories are true! *cancels all her plans for her funeral*

Iveechan December 11th, 2003 11:13 AM

Actually, DragonTrainer, dogs can see in a few shades of other colors, just not that vibrant.

Opossom can't carry rabies thanks to a slightly lower body temperature from other mammals

Calico cats only come in female

Opossom are North America's only marsupial

The "wild" mustang of the americas are actually feral and were a result of escaping/being stolen from spanish colonists

Guinea pigs are born fully developed and can eat solid food right away

The polar bear's fur is not white but see-through

Bees are deaf

Termites don't digest wood, it is actually an organism living in their bodies that does it

Hippos are more likely to attack humans than crocodiles

In hyenas, the females are dominant and her sex organ is similar to that of a male's

In wolf packs, only the alpha male and female can reproduce

A mule is a sterile offspring of a mother horse and a father donkey while a hinny (sp?) is the sterile offspring of a mother donkey and father horse. The mule usually inherits the horse's size with the donkey's tremendous strength while a hinny usually inherits the donkey's size and the horse's average strength

Mules can take a leap standing in place, unlike horses who need a running start

Pink river dolphins of South America have flexible bodies which can bend and have alsmot no dorsal fin. This is so they can navigate rivers more easily

I got one!..o r a few lol!

Debra Winger was the voice of E.T.

Pearls melt in vinegar.

It takes 3,000 cows to supply the NFL with enough leather for a years supply of footballs.

Thirty-five percent of the people who use personal ads for dating are already married.

The 3 most valuable brand names on earth: Marlboro, Coca-Cola and Budweiser, in that order.

It's possible to lead a cow upstairs...but not downstairs.

Humans are the only primates that don't have pigment in the palms of their hands.

Ten percent of the Russian government's income comes from the sale of vodka.

The sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." uses every letter in the alphabet.

The only 15 letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is "uncopyrightable".

Stewardesses' is the longest word that is typed with only the left hand.

Average life span of a major league baseball: 7 pitches.

A duck's quack doesn't echo and no one knows why.

The reason firehouses have circular stairways is from the days of yore when the engines were pulled by horses. The horses stabled on the ground floor and figured out how to walk up straight staircases.

The airplane Buddy Holly died in was the "American Pie." (Thus the name of the Don McLean song.)

Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history. Spades - King David Clubs - Alexander the Great Hearts - Charlemagne Diamonds- Julius Caesar

Iveechan December 11th, 2003 4:14 PM

I should rephrase my wolf pack fact, only the alpha male and female are ALLOWED to reproduce

Earthworms are hermaphrodites meaning they are both male and female at the same time

Only female mosquitoes drink blood; the males are the much bigger ones that look like flying spiders (and scare the heck out of me ;D)

There is only one variety of platypus

Vultures are the only vertebrates whose entire diet consists of only already dead meals

A an owl's ears are located asymmetrically (if I spelled that right)

Julius Caesar was never a king, he was only a dictator who refused the crown many times.

Narwale doesn't have an "H" in it like other whales, but poeple use wither one.

Narwales are the only horned whales.

Baluga whales are the only whales that can move there heads without turning there whole body, slighly around 30 degree's I think.

A king snake isn't vemomous, but eats other snakes that are.

A sea snake is the most venomous snake on the planet.
