Spin-Off Quick Questions and Answers Thread

Since we often have question threads that apply to more than one game, I figured it was about time we added a general question thread to this section to help with clutter and to lessen confusion! :)

Rules:
- If the question you're going to ask already has a forum dedicated to it, like Black and White, please ask in that section's Q&A thread. Your posts may be deleted if they are specific to one game that already has a thread or belong elsewhere entirely.
- Remember that team helps belongs in Battle Center, and you must post movesets when you make a thread in that forum.
- This thread can apply, but is not limited to, questions about the following: fake games, migrating between generations, link cable troubles, debating choices of game purchase, changing batteries, etc. as long as it remains within Pokemon gaming.
- No "thank you" posts. They will be deleted as spam and you can possibly be infracted if you break this rule constantly. Feel free to thank someone through VM though.

Without further ado, let the questions roll!

Pokemon dash: are you able to play as another pokemon other than pikachu?

Sydian October 19th, 2009 3:35 PM

You can only play as Pikachu in the single player mode. And wow. I didn't think anyone would ever ask a question about that game.

Oh my please tell me where did ya get the Sun Ribbon?!
And in return here's answer : Ya have to beat Darkrai and then recruit Dialga (for sure also Palkia, but ya can try it only with Dialga) and after that ya can be evolved :)

Shiny Shaymin October 25th, 2009 10:46 AM

Thank you!
Here's how I got the Sun Ribbon:

Client: Magnemite
Objective: Arrest Flaaffy
Place: Zero Isle West 23f
Restrictions: With Smeargle
Difficulty: *5
Reward: Sun Ribbon
Wonder Mail S:
1Q93& @K-3Q10 #R+QM
JXN89 SQS8+18 S=PX=

Satoshi Ookami October 25th, 2009 11:37 AM

Heh... Zero Isle? :D
(I guess I saw this WMS somewhere... I guess I gotta try it :D)

By the way I change that answer!
It seems like in Sky it's changed... Ya don't have to recruit Dialga.
After beating Darkrai and doing some missions (
Spoiler:
Manaphy joins you
) 2 Ursaring will tell ya that ya might try to go to Luminous Spring... and there my partner Chimchar was able to evolve so I guess it's changed.

Shiny Shaymin October 25th, 2009 12:02 PM

So it isn't very far... just 5 main story dungeons I guess.

Stop Messing Up My Files, Porygon-Z! October 26th, 2009 4:03 PM

This is Explorers of Sky, so feel free to recommend Shaymin or Sky-exclusive items.

I'm not tough enough to go to Zero Isle North, and I need to get some practice in Lv. 1 dungeons before going to Zero Isle South. Zero Isle Central and Destiny Tower, which I have yet to unlock, are out of the question.

So first I want to go to Zero Isle East. But there's one problem: I don't know what to bring. I know I should bring 3 Max Elixirs, my Tight Belt which I obtained by Wonder Mail codes in Darkness and traded to Sky, and at least 7 Reviver Seeds. But, I don't know what else I could stuff in my Bag.

And I don't know who to bring. My guide recommends Smoochum, Drifblim, Spiritomb, or Rotom for Zero Isle South/Destiny Tower, so maybe I could use one of those four for team leader. I saw a picture of Dusknoir being used, as well. It also recommends Snover and Masquerain for partners for Zero Isle West. (although maybe Snover is not so good because of its Snow Warning? But Hail doesn't really negate auto-healing, so maybe it's OK.) The Pokémon for Zero Isle East can also be used for Zero Isle West, since the only difference is the fact you can bring items.

This doesn't deserve its own thread so that's why I'm asking it in Quick Questions.
So, who and what should I bring?

Does Spiritomb/Marowak/Magnezone/Snover sound good?

And for Items, I'll bring:

Miracle Chest
Icy Globe
Volt Globe
Gravelerock (40)
Key
Key
Max Elixir
Max Elixir
Reviver Seed
Reviver Seed
Reviver Seed
Reviver Seed
Reviver Seed
Reviver Seed
Reviver Seed
Rare Fossil (10)

Does that sound like a good idea? I obtained some of the hard-to-find ones using Wonder Mail Codes in Darkness, borrowing my brother's DS to trade them to Sky.

Also, what's the chance of recruiting Dusknoir in Spacial Rift? I need to know. I'm Lv. 54 and I'm wearing a Golden Mask. I noticed there are two entries for Dusknoir on the Recruit Chances list, and I want to know which one applies to the one in Spacial Rift. Both of them I can handle, but I really want to know.

Pokemon Ranger - Almia

How does Darkrai' s Dark Void look like when it is used ? (pic / vid if possible ) .

Sydian November 3rd, 2009 4:52 PM

I'm playing PMD 2. :D

1. When can I evolve?

2. Where can I recruit Eevee, and can I evolve it into Leafeon?

Shiny Shaymin November 3rd, 2009 5:07 PM

SilverSmeargleSplatter,

To evolve in EOS, defeat Darkrai and go to Luminous Springs. To evolve in EOT/D, I think you have to defeat Rayquaza and go to Luminous Springs.
I recruited Evee in Mystery Jungle. To evolve it, give it a Leaf Stone and go to Luminous Springs. But, I don't know where to get a Leaf Stone.

Sydian November 3rd, 2009 6:48 PM

Thanks, but now something else is bothering me. This is Darkness...so why is Time mentioned so much? I'm starting to wonder if they put the wrong label on the cartridge and put it in the wrong box or something. xD

Shiny Shaymin November 4th, 2009 4:31 AM

It's just the game's storyline. Once you get past the main storyline, it'll have something to do darkness. Darkrai trying to envelope the entire world in darkness or something.

Not quite ;)
In Explorers of Time or Darkness (since they are practically same xD) you have to also beat Darkrai and recruit Dialga (and maybe Palkia try it only with Dialga)

By the way ya can get Eevee from the Joyous Tower but ya have to go there as lv.1 pokemon.

Trading teams on PMDEOS?

I went to see how this worked, so I chose a team, it asked me if "I will acquire this team." If I choose to acquire it, will I lose my current team?

ShatteredRose November 7th, 2009 8:23 PM

This topic is for Explorers of the Sky:

So, I have the official guide book. In it, it has a rating system on the ease of recruiting pokemon. Each pokemon is given a number 0-5 (or x if it is not recruitable), with 5 being the easiest.

For the pokemon with the number 0, the guide book says that certain conditions must be met before you are able to recruit them. Now, this makes sense for legendaries and a few others. However, pokemon like Primape, Hitmonchan, Espeon, etc. also have a rating of 0.

Thus, I wonder if anyone knows what conditions must be met to recruit such non-legendaries. Is there a special condition? Or be post-graduation plus a high enough leader recruit rate? Better yet, has anyone actually managed to recruit such pokemon?

I do suppose my question is geared towards those who have the guide book as well, but speculations are fine as well.

(While I think this has the makings to be a long discussion, perhaps it will not. So, here my question now resides.)

Satoshi Ookami November 7th, 2009 11:34 PM

Yeah I managed to recruit (repeatedly I gotta say) Primeape and some Eeveelutions (Leafeon, Umbreon, Espeon) it just needs high leveled leader, Friend Bow, but ya can also have 'em without it but that's just pure luck xD and it also happens when ya don't really want 'em :D
I suggest ya might try battle in monster house with Friend Bow on hold.

560cool. November 12th, 2009 10:16 AM

OK another question (still waiting for my 1st's answer) :

Pokemon Ranger - Almia (not so popular these days) :

How do I catch up with Celebi in the last Quest (Wish for The Vien Forest) ??? NOt how to capture it , but how to touch it yourself . I think I already wasted 3 hours trying to and I never get an answer anywhere so I tried here ...

The Red Chain November 12th, 2009 10:24 AM

In Vien Forest when you first encounter Celebi near the waterfall, it flies down and into a different area.
Run down in that same direction and go to that area.
In that area should be a Doduo.. capture that Doduo and chase Celebi down while on it's back.
That should work better for you.

Actually , I used my DS Stylus to run on a Doduo (thanks for telling me a close place to get it ! ) since I always used my Control Pad and I couldn't do it ...

But anyways , I have completly beaten PR - SoA ! Also captured Regigigas !

Satoshi Ookami November 19th, 2009 10:54 AM

Well actually until you beat Battle Zone you can't say you've beaten it ;)

560cool. November 19th, 2009 12:52 PM

I beat that Capture Zone ! (Which is , BTW , Capture Arena ) The biggest pain were the Sinnoh Starters ...
I think I beat it twice... also got Regigigas , Dialga and Palkia Missions ....
I am pretty sure that the only thing I need to do is using my friend's AR to get the last Wi-Fi missions...

Griffinbane November 19th, 2009 8:11 PM

Out of curiosity, has anyone reached a top limit of how many pokemon you can recruit in PMD2? I think I've gone up to 300 so far (maybe more) and have yet to hit a limit.

Pikachukid November 19th, 2009 11:25 PM

Can you trade pokemon between the Dungeon series (Explorers of Sky, etc) and the RPGs (Platinum etc) or is it only RPGs and Pokemon Ranger?

Rainflower November 21st, 2009 5:18 PM

Anyone here can tell me how to evolve Eevee to Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, and Leafeon in PMD: Explorers of the Sky? o///o

As far as I know, you can't trade between the main games and PMD. The only thing I know is the Manaphy Egg transfer from Ranger to DP.

Isn't easier to recruit them directly? :D
Anyways here it is.
To Espeon - Eevee must have 2 stars IQ and you need Sun Ribbon.
To Umbreon - Also 2 stars IQ but here Lunar Ribbon.
To Glaceon - You need Ice Rock (can be bought in Kecleon's shops)
To Leafeon - You need Moss Rock (also can be bought in Kecleon's shops)

But as I said it's easier to recruit them... only eeveelutions I evolved from Eevee were Glacie and Vaporeon. Others were recruited.

Well, yeah, but I'm actually using Eevee as my starter atm xD Thanks for the help anyways! (:

Mostly from normal missions...
Or you can find some Wonder Mail S codes for it ;)
But I think they can be bought in Kecleon's Shops.

Well, there are over 400 Pokemon, so...I don't think that you're even close to the limit, if there even is one.

ShatteredRose November 22nd, 2009 11:51 AM

Actually...there is a limit. The official guide states "you can have no more than 552 Pokemon in your exploration team" (29). That number is for Sky, so I suppose it is rather similar to the number for Darkness/Time.

You can recruit all 493 Pokemon and the other 28 forms of Unown to be exact.

You forgot to mention Shellos's, Gastrodon's, Burmy's and Wormadam's forms.

Satoshi Ookami November 23rd, 2009 8:40 AM

It's interesting to calculate xD
Let's go for it.
492 + 2 (Burmy) + 2 (Wormadam) + 2 (Shellos + Gastrodon) + 27 (all Unown's forms - 1) +1 (Hippowdown's female) = 526.
I hope I didn't forget anything...
Now the speculation ones - +4 (Deoxys's mirages) +1 (Primal Dialga) +1 (Shiny Celebi) +1 (Origin Giratina) +1 (Sky Shaymin) +1 (Cherrim's Sun Form) +3 (Castform's weather forms)
I know those cannot be recruited but... there might be some way to have them through cheating... so they might need to have space.
Guys what do you think?

Griffinbane November 26th, 2009 10:28 PM

If that number's right....then there's no point in me trying to obtain both the male and female of each species. Aww. =(

AliceBlaze November 27th, 2009 3:32 AM

Can pokemon be uploaded on to Ranch from Heartgold/Soulsilver or is an update needed just like Platinum?

Sydian November 27th, 2009 8:57 PM

Not that I know of. I don't think they've made an update for it yet. Maybe after it sees its US release?

Also, is there an easier way to recruit Pokemon in PMD2? Like a Friend Bow or something?

lv. 90-100 (+25%), Friend Bow (+10%), Amber Tear (+24%), Golden Mask (+24%).
And for specific types also seven treasures. (+10%)
Those can be found in special dungeons (through wonder mail in Darkness/Time or in PMD Sky from special missions received in Spinda Cafe from random pokemon.)
Terra Cymbal - Ground types - Shimmer Desert 10F (Groudon is guardian)
Fiery Drum - Fire types - Giant Volcano 20F (Heatran)
Icy Flute - Ice types - Mt. Avalanche 20F (Articuno)
Aqua-Monica - Water types - Bottomless Sea 50F (Kyogre)
Rock Horn - Rock types - World Abyss 30F (Giratina)
Grass Cornet - Grass types - Mystery Jungle 30F (Mew)
Sky Melodica - Flying types - Sky Stairway 50F (Rayquaza)

Everything is from Bulbapedia

Sydian November 28th, 2009 7:48 AM

Personally, I took a Mobile Scarf, a few Reviver Seeds, and all the Apples/Big Apples I could carry, simply running away from everything. It got a bit tense on the Haunter/Misdreavus floors, but it got me to the end.

digression~ in Sky, I was walking in Mt. Mistral, and found some hidden stairs. They led to a room with 5 Deluxe Boxes. Has anyone else seen this?

Normal.
There are some dungeons that have hidden stairs like that, later dungeons to be more exact.
Other ones have Secret Bazaar which I prefer more xD

Chatot Lover December 3rd, 2009 7:51 AM

Does anybody know where I can get Chatot on PMD2 Time? (Which dungeon is he in?)

Klofkac December 3rd, 2009 8:00 AM

It's spacial rift and recruit rate of chatot is -10%!

Chatot Lover December 3rd, 2009 8:49 AM

I see, thanks. So how can I get to Special Rift?
And I got another question: I know in the first PMD there was an item that would make wild Pokémon more likely to join your team. Is there and item like this in PMD2 as well?

560cool. December 5th, 2009 1:56 AM

I got PMD EoS !

I am currently playing the Biddof's Wish Special Episode . I tried A HUNDRED of times to beat Jirachi . I always used different items and strategies . Biddof usually ends up in Lv. 12 when I am against Jirachi .

Any tips how I can pass ?

Satoshi Ookami December 5th, 2009 2:25 AM

Level up him at level 13 where he learns Rollout.
Also pick every seed you can and let yourself die when you'll be battling the Snover's team, I mean don't use any seeds to paralyze/confuse them and so on. ;)

560cool. December 5th, 2009 2:30 AM

Yes I also turn off Item Master IQ Skill in that battle so I don't lose my Reviver Seeds .
Lv. 13 ? I just read on Bulbapedia he learns Rollout . I'll give it a try . Thanks .

EDIT : I defeated it with Rollout , Tackle , one Reviver Seed and a Totter Seed . Thank you for your help !

Explorers of Sky: When I go try to catch an outlaw, sometimes it says 'You've reached the destination floor! But...where's the enemy?' or something like that, and the entire floor is empty...

Chatot Lover December 6th, 2009 8:47 AM

I know, after the main story in PMD2 you can change the leader but can you actually walk with a Pokémon different than you and your partner Pokémon? I mean like going to Treasure Town with Zangoose etc. Because even when I make myself standby I still have to walk with me lol I can only be Zangoose in the dungeons.
I loved walking with Mew/Latias in the first PMD so it would be very disappointing if this has been changed on PMD2...
Does anybody get what I mean? lol

Klofkac December 6th, 2009 9:01 AM

No, only leader in dungeons. In treasure town you can walk with starter and partner.

I'm a she. :P

But usually the problem's fixed if I just try the dungeon again. It kinda stinks when it's a large-number floor though...

560cool. December 8th, 2009 11:44 PM

Good this is more of a curiosity question about PMD EoS .

WARNING ! QUESTION CONTAINS SPOILERS ! IT IS ABOUT AMP PLAINS FROM PMD EoS !

Spoiler:
Why has Luxray's Tribe from Eod and EoT transformed in Manectric's Tribe in EoS ? It makes no sense to me , and I really wanted to kill Luxios and badass Luxray again . Is it because Shinx is now a starter ?

Klofkac December 9th, 2009 3:28 AM

It's because shinx is starter. It's simple.

560cool. December 9th, 2009 4:33 AM

I was sure about it . I just wanted it to be confirmed . I am pretty dissapointed tough . Thanks anyways !

Satoshi Ookami December 9th, 2009 7:49 AM

Well it is pointless anyway...
When you go to Amp Plants for the first time you aren't able to evolve...

560cool. December 9th, 2009 8:03 AM

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking about .

One more thing ...

Will Armaldo from "Igglybuff the Prodigy" make any comeback ? Will Wigglytuff be reunited with Armaldo ? I am simply so very curious ...

What's unfortunate I gotta say :/

About Igglybuff's one... I'm sure that Armaldo had done awful things and he was arrested for a long time... so Wigglytuff won't meet him.

Once you gain Chimecho's Assembly, you can change leaders and Pokemon, I think. But still, your original starter and partner are required for certain dungeons.

Is this after i get master rank and completely beat the main storyline?

You just have to beat the main storyline and graduate. Master Rank isn't required for changing people in dungeons. Now that I think about it, you can bring along Pokemon to dungeons when you get Chimecho's Assembly (fairly early in the game), but to change leaders will be after you beat the game and graduate from the guild.

Haha, nice. My strategy is to use whatever Seeds I have, which involve throwing Stun Seeds, Totter Seeds, and Sleep Seeds. Best arsenal available since Orbs can't be used~

WTF? You have Riolu and you cannot beat PD? :O
Use Fighting attacks and it'll be beaten in notime ;)

naw. not anymore.

i found a couple of reviver seeds on my way to fight him, seeing how i had none before it made all the difference :)

and it wasn't PD it was " the D man from future land" and his gang of sableye"

PD was easy, a few X eye seeds and he was down for the count

( i shall continue to make this a spoiler free post )

Satoshi Ookami December 22nd, 2009 4:06 AM

Dusknoir was tough for you?
Maybe you were underleveled... :)
He was annoying but not so much ;)

Ikitsumi December 22nd, 2009 8:57 AM

Stun Seeds work to hold him down while you attack the Sableye gang. X3 Then you go and surround him and attack with all your might! Level 40 ftw. >w<

Of course, I had a bit of help because Eevee and Riolu (for me) both had Bite, so... >.>

Toxicroak December 22nd, 2009 11:09 PM

In PMD explorers of sky how can i unlock more dungeons!?

i paid $40 for a guide book that i cant use, and it dosnt tell me how to unlock them >:O

grr, this is really ticking me off!

Satoshi Ookami December 22nd, 2009 11:56 PM

Which dungeons do you mean?
Dogs' dungeons or secret treasures' dungeons?

Ikitsumi December 23rd, 2009 12:48 AM

Those random dungeons are usually unlocked by gaining Ranks, getting drinks at Spinda's Cafe, checking the Job Bulletins, and talking to Wynaut over at the Recycling Place.

Huh? What are you talking about? And what does it have to do with pokemon?

Klofkac December 24th, 2009 8:20 AM

Sun Ribbon... I haven't it and I'm still riolu! Where I can I find it?

AliceBlaze December 24th, 2009 10:25 AM

Whenever I want a certain item or even a certain pokemon, I use a wondermail generator. It's a useful way to get every pokemon or items.

That's not for PMD Sky.

May I ask. What is a Reviser Seed? What is it's deferences between it and a Reviver Seed?

Ikitsumi December 25th, 2009 9:39 AM

Ooof...Reviser Seeds are probably the one and only item that makes you go AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! when you die in a dungeon. -w- Unless you have the Item Master IQ skill, it won't work as a Reviver Seed does. Sadly, neither my Lucario or Leafeon know that... DX

chaos11011 December 25th, 2009 11:01 AM

Lol ok,cause my Eevee fainted about an hour ago and it said "SilverSS used the Reviser Seed" So Eevee wa sbrought back to life then it said "SilverSS fainted of laugher" and I was like Wtf O_o

Well... that's something really weird... Item Master IQ skill is known by almost everyone since it's starting skill.
For example even my full stars IQ Lucario wasn't able to use it.

Destinyfate December 25th, 2009 3:42 PM

What is reveir seed may i ask?

ArcanineOod December 25th, 2009 5:39 PM

Alright, chums. I don't think my question warrants a whole thread.
So, I got PMD: EotSky for Christmas, and I'm wondering which Pokemon I should become.
I know I want either Charmander or Vulpix.
I've always used Charmander. Red and Blue Rescue Teams, EoT and EoD. Charmander's never let me down. But I'm interested in Vulpix now it's an option. It learns good Fire Type moves at lower levels, but I've found that having Smokescreen's really helped me out when playing as Charmander, and Vulpix doesn't learn it. It does, however, learn Confuse Ray at level 17. Thing is, I'll probably have a good moveset before then and won't want to change it to make room for Confuse Ray.
Confuse Ray's good in that it muddles the enemy and makes them less likely to attack you, but with Smokescreen the foe's accuracy is so bad it almost never hits.

Another issue is a good Monster House move. If I evolve into a Charizard at some point, I can learn Heat Wave. With Vulpix and Ninetales I have no such move.
I'm personally leaning towards sticking with tradition and going for Charmander. What's your opinion, chums?

So, what do you think? Vulpix or Charmander?
In case it helps your judgement, my partner will almost definitely be Pikachu. I can't see it being anything else.

Thank you in advance for any replies I get, and Merry Christmas! ^_^
xX

chaos11011 December 25th, 2009 6:20 PM

Well if you are getting Pikachu as your Partner then Charmander is out of the question. If memory serves it learns Discharge, which is a "Monster House" Move.I think that it also effects Charmander,so when its a Charzard it will inflict SE damage to Charzard.Go with Vulpix because its always good to try something new, plus Safe Guard is always a nice thing to have :)

Satoshi Ookami December 26th, 2009 12:32 AM

I'd go with Charmander...
If you wanna count on those two moves (Confuse Ray x Smokescreen) then Smokescreen is much effective in PMDs. And for confusing you can use Totter Seeds ;)

@Reverb : If you mean Reviver Seed then it revives your fainted pokemon.
