Diamond, Pearl or Platinum?
So, which of the trio of Sinnoh games did you prefer?
Was it because of the version exclusives? The version mascot? Or was it because you liked the look of that game better? Vote in the poll and give reasons! |
Even though I don't own a copy of Platinum, and rather copies of Diamond and Pearl, Platinum is the obvious choice. Not only does it trump Diamond and Pearl post-game wise, but it also provides fixes to the little things that really bugged me in D and P. (Surfing speed, especially.)
|
Pearl was the first Pokemon game I really played after I left the series a number of years before, so I have quite a bit of fondness for it.
That said, Platinum's a close second because of the new features and slightly new story elements (different gym orders, Looker etc.). |
Platinum is the best by far mostly because of the post-game stuff and gameplay improvements.
|
Platinum obviously. They fixed a lot of issues from Sinnoh's dex roster, and they've added a lot of new features post-game, including the return of the Battle Frontier.
|
I only played through Pearl once, ever. My save file is still the original from 2007 xD |
I have not bought any of the Sinnoh games, judging from my favorite Pokemon - & version exclusives, I'm going with Pearl. Glameow only appears on Pearl.
Game I'm buying in January. |
I liked both Diamond & Pearl and I think Generation IV was one of the best generations to date but when Platinum was released it was such a step-up in comparison. So I chose Platinum!
|
Even though Diamond was what I played first, I went with Platinum cos I enjoyed it better than the first two.
I also loved Dawn's Platinum design better, and the extra Pokemon and features gave it the edge. |
Platinum definitely :D. Ahh gosh this game brings back so many memories :D. My first go at the Pokemon series, it had better Pokemon to catch, new features, a much faster surfing speed :P and much more to do in the aftergame. D/P were fantastic games but nothing compares to Platinum :)
|
Just like the same way I felt with Emerald over R/S, I thought that Platinum was a big upgrade over D/P. I never had much of an opportunity to play Diamond or Pearl, but I would have been disappointed if I played through them after Platinum only to find out there was no Distortion World or Battle Frontier.
|
Platinum; this was without a doubt, yo.
The health bar layout looked WAY better D/P not mention the opened Pokedex and being able to train Leafeon and Glaceon...I mean, damn...why weren't they in D/P. The torn world and the extra battle with Cyrus, Mars and Jupiter...not mention the revamped storyline... ...The rematches with gym leaders...and finally the battle frontier. There's prolly more, but this is all I can think of. |
Platinum! OMG the Giratina story just made me want it sooo bad (I'm a Dragon lover). Besides that, it was much faster than D and P; had a better post game and better exclusives.
|
I always go with the third version of the game because it always has more stuffed added to it. I like the fact that Pokemon Platinum bought back the Battle Frontier; I wish they had 7 battle facilities just like Emerald, but it was still a good thing.
:t354:TG |
Platinummmm! Nicer battle layout and overall has more to do. I also thought the Distortion World was really cool and the plot overall was much more interesting~
|
Platinum ftw! I like the new designs of the characters, and the plot was waaaay better than Diamond or Pearl. Plus, the HP Bar was beyond cool.
|
Platinum is the Gen IV game I've played so I choose it.
Edit: Well, besides the remakes HG/SS |
I vote Platinum for better storyline of Team Galactic, and Distortion World.
|
I got pearl because it was the only version they had used at gamestop :B
(I know... such a dead and well thought out reason - LOL) |
I think Platinum as it has the same elements as Diamond and Pearl but also added features like...
THE DISTORTION WORLD! xD |
When Platinum came out, I was falling out of Pokèmon in general, & a bit of depression due to my illnesses.
However... after picking it up on a whim, & actually playing it... I realized that I adored it, in every sense of the word! :D Platinum has my vote, due to it being a mixture of Diamond & Pearl, yet with more~ |
Platinum would be 100% perfect but for one thing... Lack of Murkrow. :(
It's not fair to compare Platinum with DP, though. I think it was a much bigger jump than the one between Emerald and RS, that is, much more things were changed in Platinum in comparison to the base versions, than Emerald. Actually, for me, comparing Platinum with any Pokémon game is unfair, because it's IMO the best Pokémon game ever made (haven't played BW2 yet), with HGSS a very close second. I played twice through it in a space of two weeks, something I've probably only done with Blue. The only complaint I have is that I think HGSS should've been released first, and its improvements introduced in Platinum instead, to make Platinum the definitive 4th gen game, much like Emerald was the ultimate 3rd gen game. |
Out of the 3, I would say Platinum. Actually I've only gotten a used copy of it recently and I'm still playing the last person's file but still so far I've noticed it runs smoother and faster than DP did. Diamond and Pearl are pretty slow moving and Platinum fixes these problems up. Plus I love the aesthetic changes added to the game. The snow on the ground, the gates at the entrances in Floaroma Town, the remodeled look of Amity Square , the new battle menu, the redesigns of Eterna, Veilstone , and Hearthrome , the games look visually better. I also like how some trainers now use Seals. Everything about the game is a total step forward from Diamond and Pearl.
|
Like some others, I have never played through Platinum, but I still chose it. It was the opportunity to fix the errors in Diamond and Pearl, and not only that, it gives you access to both Dialga and Palkia. Platinum is also like a mix of both the previous games, which I really like. The Distortion World was also a pretty cool place you could visit.
|
After playing Pearl, I took a break from Pokemon because...well, it was honestly starting to wear thin on me. I was just...losing interest. I didn't even really think about Pokemon until I saw an ad on tv for Platinum. I wasn't even thinking of getting it until I saw the beautiful figure pre-order bonus.
And for that pre-order bonus that made me buy Platinum I am eternally grateful! Platinum was amazing. It far surpassed Pearl and really got me back into Pokemon. I haven't stopped playing Pokemon since. Platinum is a gem of a game (or is it a metal?) and it will always hold a special place in my heart! |
I'd say Platinum, my only problem is that you can't get the version exclusives.
