The Slightly Refurbished (But Not Finished) Good Times Thread of Drawing! <3

CSS under construction!

So here's some stuff:

More to come (will post my webcomic when I feel like doing that)! Constructive criticism appreciated!
Pokey out <3

Patrick December 31st, 2012 11:30 AM

I was kind of wondering when you'd get around to making one, or even if once I realized the art in your signature/avatar was yours.

But there's just so much here that it's actually causing it to load everything slooooowwllllyyyyy. I dunno what that could be, are your images really huge on DA? Maybe it's DA itself through a bottleneck right now?

It seems like you have a whole lot to show, here, which is great. Most of loaded right up, and then others where just blank spots or half loaded, so I'm only going to talk about what I was able to see.

First off, I really like, or rather I always liked the Unova scenary, and the Mei and Ampharos find a hidden grotto piece. The pixel art is pretty hot stuff, too. I like what you did for Lumiere most of all, there.

I like the stutter comic, and a lot of your work from the unfinished pile has a certain flair to it, in the posing, and the cleanliness of the lineart. It shows your strengths. Uh, everything else didn't really load except the 2010 gallery, but it's interesting to see where you were 2 years ago. Or almost 3. It seems like what changed the most was your coloring technique, which usually seems to be the case for most artists once they have their personal style down.

So, that's all I got.

Pokestick, good times. December 31st, 2012 11:36 AM

Sorry about the loading issues.
Dunno how I should fix that, really. Possibly by uploading every single image in a smaller format on Imgur, but that will be a pain, hahaha.

Thank you so much! <3

seeker December 31st, 2012 11:38 AM

You've always been one of my favourite artists on PC, and that's saying something! Just seen your 2012 recap meme, and I have to say that you've improved so much it's kind of ridiculous. Your latest pieces are fantastic, I love your scenes. Just as a side note, the sunrays here shouldn't be above the characters, since they cast a shadow, naturally.

I'll continue to watch your work, I love it and I love your style so much. Keep it up!

Fairy January 1st, 2013 7:05 PM

These are staggeringly well done.

Just compared to what you posted as pre-2012, you've developed your style so, so much. At this rate, you'll be famous by next year, no joke. You've transcended this whole "critiquing on PC" stage dude, you need like.. an agent or a manager or something. ;p

This is the style of drawing that I can really appreciate. I like what I draw, as an artist, but I often find that most of my art becomes very bland in meaning overall very static. Your art, on the other hand, is consistently portraying different emotions and different characters experiencing different things! It's so dynamic and fun to scroll through! Especially some of the more "simplistic" (by that I mean the ones that aren't very background heavy) pieces like this, this, and this.

I would say post more, like I do to everyone who puts a gallery up here, but if you post anymore I'm gunna just explode. xD

No but really, post more!

Pokestick, good times. January 2nd, 2013 10:12 AM

Thank you so much for the encouragement and such, it's really means a lot! <3
I still haven't figured out how light works properly hahaha, and as much as I'd like to put up new stuff every day, drawing sure takes time.

Also, added some banner thingies for the folder categories. Guess it's a bit less boring this way. Might very well make the first post CSS-tacular at some point.

Anastasia.R January 5th, 2013 11:16 PM

WELL HEY, I REMEMBER FAVING ONE OF YOUR WORK!
http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/321/1/3/hidden_grotto_by_yuzahunter-d5l9tkb.png
That one, which I thought was pretty cool! ^..^
I love the lighting here, it looks awesome.
I see you sorta blurred the branches that was closer to the viewer, which I think creates some awesome depth! If I may suggest, I would blur a little more of the sign and bicycle? To possibly add more depth, but it's only a suggestion I had in mind.
I have to mention how I love your line-work in lots of the drawings you have. It's really clean, some of them are colored which I love to see. I don't know why, it's just nice to see line-work that's different from just regular black.

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/355/7/8/flying_sharpedo_by_yuzahunter-d5opilx.png
AHA, I LOVE THIS.
Also, the texture here is nice. :3

So, I'll leave it at that! You've got some awesome work. =]

Pokestick, good times. January 6th, 2013 2:15 AM

Thanks <3
I should've blurred the background more, but just blurring lineart you've spent a large amount of time on is so difficult, haha.

InkFrog January 6th, 2013 8:52 AM

Man I love your art. You have really nice clean lines which is something I struggle to do and your cel-shading style goes really nicely with it because it's so clean. I really like the clouds in your first drawing a lot. Your backgrounds aren't as clean as your characters, but they're clean enough so that they look like they still belong in the same world. Good job!

Pokestick, good times. January 7th, 2013 6:12 AM

Thank you! <3

Whoopsie daisy, added another piece to the Original Art folder!

Arma January 7th, 2013 6:26 AM

Wow, that last piece looks amazing! I really love how you've coloured it! It looks different from your other pieces.

To be honest, all of your art is awesome, but that last one really takes the cake!

Kotone January 7th, 2013 10:31 AM

omg your artwork has really become beautiful;; i remember when you first started drawing. i still have the drawing you made me;;

i still love it<33
anyways, i love the way you draw it's just so clean i love all of the shading. i can't wait to see more.
--i might just use that signature again :3

Patrick January 7th, 2013 11:20 AM

The latest piece is amazing. Love the work that went into the background. I have to agree with Alexial in that I really don't think there's must to critique on. You definitely have the patience to follow through to the last detail. The coloring is also very very nice. I may have to save that picture just for inspiration (of what, I dunno. Maybe how to create a detailed environment). The technique is in the painting, because the line art for the trees and bushes is pretty simple.

Are you looking to do this professionally? I think you'd be able to. Or maybe freelance if you're not looking to do this career wise. For a lot of people, though, it's not even about making money with it, though, so maybe you're in that camp as well? I dunno, I'm just curious.

Pokestick, good times. January 7th, 2013 12:41 PM

Thank you everyone! <3

If I COULD make a living from illustrating, I would. Would be difficult making that happen though. :(
Also there's always the possibility that having it as work would make me grow reeeaaaally tired of it.

I do however plan on having a career in graphical design or something like that. And character design/scenery reference for games or films would be very fun! :D

Luckily I'm still seventeen and I don't have to worry about a career before I've finished college, so there's plenty of time to practice!

A LOT of time. And that's if you're doing it half heartedly (cheap animation still isn't fast :I). I mean, I guess cheats exist but would you believe it if I said that I've never learned how to do any of them (background tweens nonwithstanding)?

But really, though, I like that animation you have. It seems like a clean up pass, because it's too smooth to be the 1st or 2nd draft. Looks like its mostly made up of keys and extremes, though, but I don't think you're aiming for little more than a skill test. I still like how he just zooms off into the distance. NOW I'm inspired. I can't get off my butt to draw anything, but animation is still my forte, whether I like it or not. XD;

Quote:

One of the many reasons I found out I didn't like animation as a career, it happens, but it's either rare or not too many people admit it. There was plenty of other factors, don't get me wrong, but you know it's over when you finally get a chance to work on something that you think is really really cool, really fun and has a style you love, but reached the absolute bottom of the drive to care anymore. Fortunately...

Quote:

And character design/scenery reference for games or films would be very fun! :D
For me, that is fun. I think if you got into it, you wouldn't get tired of it unlike animation which may burn you out if you don't live and breath it daily, and it has some pretty achievable milestones that people I've worked with seem to feel really good about. Even scenery design is fun every now and again, but maybe it's just me. Something to keep in mind, though, but I know different people have different tastes and ideas where to utilize their art. I'm speaking from work experience, but it's still only one man's point of view.

Well, you're certainly better than were I was when I was seventeen. My art was still very crude. In fact, you're better than me now. At your age, you've got a leg up on a lot of people who are seriously considering doing this professionally, I'd say that's quite a compliment. :D

Okay, I won't derail your gallery anymore. Anything else I'll take to a visitor message or something. D:

Just a quickie. I'm much more fond of the new starters than I thought I would be! :D

Best drawing of X and Y starter I've seen yet! Well, it's only the first one I've seen... but still the best!

I'm sorry but this was too good for me to not comment on real quick. Very awesome. Super cute for such a quick doodle. Keep them coming! c:

No it's not actually! As I wrote in the post, that's from Kids on the slope.

Pokestick, good times. January 12th, 2013 5:32 AM

I use an airbrush with pretty high smoothing options when linearting, mostly.
The easiest way to do clean and smooth lines, I think, is just to make very quick strokes. This means it's harder to make them precise, but when you're using digital means you can just undo and try again until it looks good!

Also have a Gastly.

I believe I have stumbled upon the works of the greatest digital artist ever. These are just simply amazing!

Currently making a children's book type of thing for school. So have one of the illustrations I'm using for it! :D
(drawn with pencil, then scanned, touched up and coloured in PhotoShop)

icycatelf February 8th, 2013 7:49 AM

Well, this is just all kinds of awesome.

Guess who's going to watch you on dA. This guy.

Pretty sure I've faved some of your stuff before, like that Mewtwo pic, but I don't think I actually looked through your gallery. Well, I'm off to spam you a bunch of fave notifications! XD

derozio February 12th, 2013 6:29 AM

lmao and I said I'd cover all your works one by one. That's pretty darn impossible. Not to mention a bit pointless since my comments on almost every single one of these works would not oscillate much from "That's freakin' amazing". I mean it. Anyway, there is definitely a really huge improvement in your art over the few years I've known you. You were always good at drawing but, as of now, your art is pro level. Honestly, your **** is just amazing.

Works like these: 1 2 3 4 - stand out to me the most. 2nd and 4th are really benefited by the lighting in them, to be honest. Though Gav did point out a minor problem with the lighting in the second one, I still think it doesn't really harm the piece as much and it looks nothing short of breathtaking. Same goes for fourth. Fourth is virtually perfect in my eyes. Mei looks really good in there, anatomically speaking (and no, not just because you did her bewbs really nicely here. Though that's a factor! yeah, me a perv). Much better than she does in the games, lmao. Shadows cast by those leaves on her face have been done really well, too. As for the first and the third pieces, I'd just say that two things make me love them - detailing and the sense of speed. Detailing in the first and the latter in the third one. Love the way you did those strands of hair and the art style in the first pic in general. Coloring is immaculate. Just perfect. Talking about sharpedo piece - those lines, man. That linework. ****ing amazing. Those strokes just make the drawing. They've been done masterfully. Grunge texture in the background really does wonders for it too.

Overall, I'm just a big fan of you, pokey. You've improved tons and I can't stress it enough. The fact that you're incorporating things like proper lighting in order to enhance the drawing and bring out the focus in your latest works is commendable. I didn't see it in your older works and I'll just say that they really do affect your works. In a good way, of course! <3; So yeah, keep drawing and updating this gallery. You know you have to or I'll kill you. ;]

Pokestick, good times. February 12th, 2013 10:58 AM

Asdfg stop it Vikky you're killing me! ;;;
I'm really bad at responding to compliments. Like, really bad. No matter how I do it it's just impossible to make such incredibly great words justice, to recreate in words how awesome it makes me feel that second when I get stuff like that. Thus, it feels like such a waste, haha.
But it's so appreciated, it really is. I'm so happy that people like the stuff I do, to such a, to me, extreme extent. It's when you really think it's worth all the hours of hard work and slight frustration!
...Though getting motivation is still annoyingly difficult. Pull yourself together, me!

But still. Thank you. Really. To everyone who leaves nice comments on either this thread, on DA, in person, or anywhere else. It means so much. <3

Pokestick, good times. February 15th, 2013 12:13 PM

And finally I made something more drawing-like again!

Added to Original Art folder <3

Elaitenstile February 22nd, 2013 10:10 PM

Wow! This is the ultimatum of artwork! And you know what? I had no idea you were so good.

First up is that Gastly. I love that dusty effect around it.
That Unova scenery is Oh Ma God! You've portrayed the sky beautifully, and I love the grass effect.
The Pixel Art is a-maazing! Lumiere in special looks totally awesome.
Charizard and Mewtwo's designs are perfect, and I like that lighting effect there.
And I like the way you draw people, making them look... skinny?
Elesa looks so hot, I can't compare.

I'll think you're great at effects in cartoonscapes. You really have to make that comic.

Maybe the best is your signature, you're one of the best in this community!

Pokestick, good times. February 26th, 2013 8:06 AM

Thank you! <33
Hahaha, I do tend to make things really skinny.
But I actually am already working on the comic in question! I've finished almost three chapters! I'm just way too lazy to upload it all.

In other news, have some more elaborate XY stuff! :D

Pokestick, good times. February 28th, 2013 3:43 PM

Aaaand more Pokémon drawings. Almost forgot to update the thread!

Twilight-kun March 2nd, 2013 1:13 PM

Lookin' good, Poke

what about the pic you're using for your avatar/sig now?

Pokestick, good times. March 2nd, 2013 2:13 PM

Haven't bothered to upload it to DeviantArt yet, since I'm not 100% sure if I'm finished with it or not. And since I usually use the DA images in this thread... yeah. :P

Pokestick, good times. March 3rd, 2013 6:40 AM

Well, here it is!
An alternative interpretation of Y-chan's design.

derozio March 4th, 2013 4:08 AM

Ahhh phillip you're so amazing. I loooooove the way you color stuff and incorporate lighting in your works. Mostly in your recent ones. Lighting in both Y-Chan and drill pokemon thingy work is really good. <333; and dat hair in the y-chan piece, man. You really did put some work into the hair and it shows. They look really nice. <3; Coloring is top-notch, to boot. Give your works to any graphic artist and they'll probably say that the colors are awesome and there isn't much they can do to make the colors any better than they already are. ;]

the new y-chan piece is kawaii as heck too. I don't really have much to say about the new one. Awesome, as always. :DDD

Sorry this comment wasn't as good/long/critique-ful (ain't a word ikr) as me regular posts. Exam time, ya see. But yeah, keep posting your stuff here and letting me drool over them. Being able to ogle at those smexy pieces you draw is one of the greatest blessings for me. <3;

on an unrelated note, why just use her butt in your signature? You could've used her whole body (wait that came out so dirty). I mean, she's beautiful!!!

Pokestick, good times. March 14th, 2013 2:49 PM

I'm actually working hard to hone my graphic artist skills at school and at home right now. Designing things and working with colours and typography and so forth. :P
This whole engagement with school and preparing for my future career means I spend more time making things for my own sake, and less fit for putting online. But I'm confident, and once I get more time, I'm gonna try to put up more stuff again!

Other than that, working on the webcomic of mine. If I were to add it to this thread, any idea on how I would incorporate it? Put it all in spoiler tags or linking between the different pages through some interface, or what?

To be perfectly honest the only real reason I'm using her butt in the signature is because I like how the wrinkles on her skirt came out.

Fairy March 14th, 2013 6:32 PM

That comment right there is the story of my damn life.

There are so many freaking drawings I have the are ~questionable~ but I use bits and pieces of them for things because I JUST LOVE the way the hair came out or how the clothing looks. Sometimes you just pull off the perfect clothing folds and can't resist using them no matter where they're located lol. Yeah, totally identify with that and couldn't resist bringing it up. ;;

imma write about dero being a pervert in small text! ;p

Anyway, you know what I'd love to see? An artist collab between you and Loki. You two are so talented and I can just, UGH, totally see you guys working on a comic together! I know that's like.. kind of farfetched and silly, but you two are like A&D's little shining digital stars and I'd just die to see what you can do together. :)

Sorry about this stoops post that doesn't even touch on your art. But all I can give is unconditional praise so I decided to give you my other 2 cents instead. ;)

Pokestick, good times. March 14th, 2013 10:20 PM

I just checked that person out for the first time and, well, dayum.

But digital star, me, ahaha, let's not exaggerate now ;;

Even though unconditional praise always is appreciated!

Loki March 17th, 2013 6:05 PM

OMG lmfao you two--

o<-<

I'm so embarrassed LOL- but hey! I think a collab would be fun, if you were up for it! *7* I love your art style, especially on the latest Y-Chan! I'm thinking of trying out an eye-style more like that, so I should start takin' notes! I like how soft your coloring is aaahhh I hope I don't sound like a total weirdo but I've spent a lot of time admiring the shade on her face cast by the brim of her hat! (How random, right? Sob I fixate on the strangest things) I agree with you though, her skirt looks brilliant-- definitely looks lovely in your signature, and the folds are to die for!

The only thing I'd say is that her head looks a tad too big for her body? I feel like having sized it down maybe 80% during the sketching process would've made the balance perfect! But it's not a big deal- I love it either way, and it's a huge improvement from the last Y-chan picture on this thread!

Can't wait to see more!

Pokestick, good times. March 20th, 2013 10:07 AM

Oh gosh, eyes are not my strong point. At least not in the anime style. Terribly awkward. ;_;
And tbh the shadow on her forehead is mostly just me playing with SAI's marker tool and letting the program do the magic for me.
Aaaannnd I like big heads because they're cute okay. :'I

A collab would be fun! Projects like that I find are often hard to get going with, but it'd definitely be educating!

Also currently sick and I spend my time working on the comic book project that's due in one year instead of the graphics project that's supposed to be done tomorrow! \o/

And, uh, have a manly man with manly hair.

Pokestick, good times. March 30th, 2013 10:52 AM

OKAY, YOU ALL LIKE EASTER, RIGHT?

Fairy April 28th, 2013 4:53 PM

Ahhh.. this is quite a different style for you, isn't it? She doesn't really look like your normal characters, is what I mean by that. n_n; Is it actually supposed to be in a slightly different style, or am I just imagining things? :o

Well, once again, this is a lovely update. <33; I love how you're making such great use of that background. Cause, really, that blur back there is just perfect. It's like allowing me to fill in the blanks with my own imagination, you know? Obviously that's not the focus of the piece, but it definitely got my attention! :3
apparently it got don's attention too.. o.o

Now give us MORE :x

Pokestick, good times. April 28th, 2013 11:47 PM

It's a certainly a bit different from my usual style! But that's what I'm trying to do nowadays.
And the blur is awesome because I can just make a sloppy background and blur it till it looks good. >u>

Haha, let's not pressure Pokestick too much now, alright? How's about you check out this Traditional / Digital Resource Thread? There you can find everything you need to learn the basics of drawing! :D

Anyway, I'm loving that Y piece. I can't remember the name of that adorable little bird right now, but that drawing is seriously cute. ;; Although, I agree with Kayla about the clouds, they do look a little thrown in there.. But I don't think it was ever meant to be a serious piece anyway. The background actually lends a kind of WIP feeling to it that I kinda like lol

You are the absolute best. No doubt about it. I've seen most of your drawings, and now more have come and I'm just more sure.

Thing is, you're just too skilled in anime lineart. Like, anime has a huge variety which you have taken in and I can see that you've fished out your own style. The thick but slender way is done in a perfectionist passion, and you've also added lighting and shading effects here and there, and that makes your art amazing.

You... drew this? But HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Cloud effect could be extended in the bottom line IMO. 'ther than that is beautiful.

And how did you draaw Y-Chan's hair o.o
She looks so cute, and I always never get female hair, especially anything as complex as that.

I think the real spotlight is the lighting effect that makes it look dynamic. You've really perfected it! Aaaand... I WANT TO SEE MORE KOMIX!!!

Just a question out of my head, when did you start drawing?

Pokestick, good times. June 7th, 2013 7:16 AM

I've been drawing most of my life, the majority of the time not so well. :P

Thank you lots! <3

ALSO I'M LIKING THIS ONE. HERE Y'ALL GO.

Hexhellfire June 10th, 2013 6:58 AM

I do use photoShop, but most of the stuff is made in Paint Tool SAI.

Also, I forgot to upload this here! Have some more XY Pokémon, this time Noivern.

Pokestick, good times. July 25th, 2013 5:38 AM

THE RETURN OF AWESOMITY?
HAVE MY ARTIST'S BLOCK VANISHED?

Not completely. But here's the beauty that is Yui Ichii of Yuyushiki.

Pokestick, good times. September 22nd, 2013 9:00 AM

I don't upload school work and paid commissions here, which is why it's rather empty at the moment. >_>

Here, some XY stuff.

Gah, it's so difficult for me to get motivated enough.
Here, have a little strip, once again XY-related.

Hi Pokestick, awesome art you got here! I really enjoy the coloring you do on your pieces, and your lineart is refined and clean. If I were to nitpick though, I think because of the cartoony/chibi style you use on your later works(most evidently on ychan & birds and calem & froakie artworks), some of the other artworks that are not supposed to be chibi such as the card & gun girl get sort of iffy in terms of proportions.

Also the Y-chan & Chespin artwork IMO is confusing in terms of depth; Chespin is walking with most of its feet shown, yet Y-chan is cut on her knees. It kinda confuses the viewer on the difference of ground depth even though the tall grass on the background is arguably the same level.

Keep it up, great talent you got here!

Since my regular computer isn't working, I've started using one of my laptops.
Drew Mawile as an inauguration. Look at that cute maw.

Really cute work. Like seriously this is just precious and I love it. ;o;

Pokestick, good times. November 8th, 2013 11:03 AM

I am not sorry.

derozio November 9th, 2013 3:36 AM

You shouldn't be. ;p That thing looks like it was designed to be used as a gun, anyway lmao.

trainer and the pokemon itself are well done but the background, consisting of merely a gradient or actually just a single color for the most part, makes it seem severely lacking. I've seen you do some orgasmic backgrounds before so I've come to expect better. But maybe this was just a joke drawing and not worth the effort of going all out in every aspect, I guess. Either way, i wuv ur style, d00d. Keep up the good work. How often do you update hashi btw? I'll read the thing in bulk (once I have my pc which will happen
...next year, earliest) so I'll probably have a lot of fun. <3

Pokestick, good times. November 9th, 2013 3:27 PM

It tends to be between a couple of days and six months. :P

I plan on putting up the next four pages or so in one batch. Most of those are done. I'm rather crippled by my fixation on getting everything right.

Pokestick, good times. December 26th, 2013 3:22 PM

I never finish anything. :(
So I purposefully lowered the bar on this one so much that I actually finished it.

Pokestick, good times. January 4th, 2014 8:12 AM

The Starbound beta finally came out a while ago, and it's pretty great!

So here's a Hylotl.

Saki January 5th, 2014 7:00 PM

Wow. I just had to post and tell you that your art is amazing. I really admire it. I run a couple "Share Some Art " threads on a couple forums where I post random artist's work and source them in order to get people looking at art on the internet more and to get artists some attention. I was wondering if you'd be okay with me showcasing some of your work and linking it back here?

Also, I am an artist myself (although not nearly as good as you) so I may just add you as a friend on here and ask your opinion on various things once in a while, is that okay by you? No worries if you're too busy for that sort of thing.

Regardless, amazing work!

Pokestick, good times. January 16th, 2014 9:48 AM

Absolutely, you can share my stuff if you want to!

Do feel free to ask me about pretty much anything. I have time to answer sometimes. :P

In other news, darkness! Lots of darkness!

StratMan959 February 5th, 2014 9:43 PM

I absolutely love your art style. It's so...bright and happy in a way, haha. Keep up the awesome work, love it all!

Pokestick, good times. February 16th, 2014 8:10 AM

Thank you! <3

I seem utterly incapable of finishing anything this year. So I guess I'll show y'all some practice stuff.

Pokestick, good times. April 5th, 2014 8:10 AM

Here's a thing again, lovelies.

Hey, this is really good! My only critique would be that two drawing above me, the shadows are a little off with that staircase. I'm not sure how much of an arc they would form with the light being way up there.

Other than that, I don't really have much to say as far as critiquing goes. Your art style is definitely more happy and cheerful, but is also capable of a full range of emotion. This style would seem to go well in a comic setting. Have you ever considered that?

Pokestick, good times. April 7th, 2014 12:24 PM

Thank you! <3
Yeah, the shadows beneath the stairs are a trainwreck.

I'm currently working on two comics, actually! Only one of them is available online though; it's linked to in my signature.

Pokestick, good times. May 6th, 2014 11:05 AM

Working my ass off on a graphic novel project. In the meantime, have Edea.

HELLO.

I HAVE RETURNED. THAT'S RIGHT.

So have some ORAS-related stuff.

Good lord... I don't even know where to begin, all of your artwork is phenomenal..

Pokestick, good times. August 17th, 2014 2:15 PM

Hahaha, thank you! <3

Inbetween commissions, I like to play with character design. So here's my take on a certain fantasy class!

Pokestick, good times. August 18th, 2014 2:06 PM

Oh, and here's a pencil drawing from my sketchbook which I ended up liking a lot.

Fairy August 18th, 2014 5:53 PM

As clean and inspired as always, dear. I love seeing your pencil work especially; those glimpses into your method are always a treat!

Pokestick, good times. November 8th, 2014 8:10 AM

Haven't posted here much, oops.

Here's a trainer and her Milotic exploring Hoenn's beautiful oceanic landscape! :D

VeranithasVI November 8th, 2014 5:07 PM

How have I not seen this gallery sooner?!? This work is absolutely fantastic! Everything from the colouring, shading all the way down to the human anatomy is perfect. My favourite piece is the Ampharos finding a secret grotto, the shading on that is so beautiful it makes the picture.

Keep updating this whenever you can! It's brilliant. :)

Fairy November 8th, 2014 6:39 PM

Isn't his work absolutely darling? So proud. :')

I mean do I really even need to post? Y'already know I worship this art ain't nothing I can say is gonna make that any less true or more obvious. You rock dude. o/ Still one of my faves.

Amaruuk November 8th, 2014 10:20 PM

Jeez, I wish I was this good at your age! You've definitely put a lot of effort into it. Your linework is so clean, with masterful weight variance, and somehow manages to be crisp and soft at the same time. Though there is some perspective and proportional hiccups here and there, you seem to have a good grasp of anatomy and volumetric structure. I love the warm, vibrant feel a lot of your palettes have, too. Glad you started posting again, I didn't even know this was here until now! Keep it up! :D

With my not-always-that-great self-confidence, it definitely matters to me!
I'm incredibly happy to get such patronage, thank you very much <3

Oops, someone's noticing my ineptitudes time to work harder on hiding them >u>

I spend a stupid amount of time finely adjusting and transforming my lines, so it's great to know it shows results! It's a great feeling to be complemented on these things by someone who's so patently experienced in the art of visualizing three-dimensional light and structures. :)

What I think I might be the most worried about right now is that my detail perfectionism might take dominance over the picture as a whole, making everything look like neatly sculptured plastic structures in some flat and boring world... I might have to traverse a bit out of my comfort zone with more dynamic posing, perspective and composition :D

You are quite welcome!

Ah yes, that is a thing that plagues or has plagued just about every artist ever - the focus on detail to the point of forgetting the larger composition. The trick is to work wholistically, roughing out the primary forms and composition first, then secondary details followed by the finest ones. And I still forget the bigger picture a lot myself, particularly with lighting. It helps to zoom out or step back periodically as you work, or another trick if something looks off anatomically or structurally but you can't put your finger on it, mirror the image temporarily and the problems will likely show themselves.

I do those things already like my life depends on it; still stellar advice though, that text should be slapped onto every single digital art website's header for all to read. :D

Probably going to try to train up my eye for image structure, might start with some thumbnail shots and focus on that and nothing else~

Pokestick, good times. November 13th, 2014 3:21 PM

And here's Zinnia from ORAS' recently announced Delta Chapter :>

Espurr_Kawaii December 19th, 2014 10:31 PM

JoeCrux December 20th, 2014 5:03 PM

Woa you're awesome !

I admire your digital drawing skills, I can't get used to it >.<

Pokestick, good times. December 23rd, 2014 12:54 PM

Thank you all. :>

Bear in mind you can never practice too much! This crap takes a serious amount of time.

Also since most things I draw are in sketchbooks/never gets finished, here's something I made just for you, internet.

Pokestick, good times. December 31st, 2014 10:25 AM

I draw a lot of fantasy nowadays, though traditionally. But sometimes digitally as well, it turns out. Quite a simple piece but here we go.

Netto Azure January 3rd, 2015 11:21 PM

I remember seeing these in dA a year ago...too bad real life got in the way of me following your artistic exploits.

Good stuff. o3o

Pokestick, good times. January 25th, 2015 6:57 AM

You should abandon all those things and hang out with me instead, Netman.

Cheerio! It's Togame!

Pokestick, good times. May 7th, 2015 1:48 PM

Oh boy!

Have some landscape sketches I've made while listening to lectures!

Twilight-kun May 7th, 2015 1:52 PM

Looks like something out of Megatokyo

Cool

queeniewolf May 7th, 2015 2:22 PM

Wow, I really really enjoy your art!
You have a great sense for composition and I absolutely adore your backgrounds as well as your colouring :>
These landscape sketches are really good, I'd like to see at least some of them as finished pieces!

Lecture sketches are the best haha

queeniewolf May 7th, 2015 2:22 PM

sorry computer spazzed out and posted my reply twice. won't let me delete it either. Could a mod maybe delete this? Sorry for inconveniences.

Pokestick, good times. May 7th, 2015 2:33 PM

Thank you very much! I try my best. :>

Will definitely try to flesh some of these out one day.

Netto Azure May 8th, 2015 2:48 AM

You've certainly improved greatly over the years. (b")b
