Yesterday, I got RNG reporter 831, I know how to use it, but I have no idea what my SID is, how do I figure out what my SID number is?

Let me just quote myself:

The SID can be found in few (reliable) ways. One is to use the Action Replay code for it if you happen to have one. Another way is to upload your Pokemon to Pokecheck.org. The third way is to use a flash cart and PokeGen. If you cannot do any of these, perhaps someone here will be generous enough to help you. You could trade a filler Pokemon caught by that game and they could use it to figure it out for you.

However, for people without access to Wi-Fi or an AR:

There is another way, but it requires you to have caught at least one shiny with the OT that you are trying to find the SID for.

If you need help with that last method, feel free to shoot me a message.

So... um... I decided I wanna RNG again and tried out RNGing Meloetta... and... um... this is what I came up with... *timidly pushes it forward, wondering if it's bad*

Yes, it is bad, competitively speaking.

30|31|30|31|31|31 or 31|30|30|31|31|31 would be much better. As a part of collection, I don't think it's relevant.

Cordelia March 14th, 2013 6:24 PM

It's good for a collector, which is what Kiro is. Competively I'll never use a Meloetta, so I don't care too much. But of course, I'll do something nice when I get around to RNGing them.

If you're OK with legends being non shiny (Heatran can be shiny tho :D), I highly recommend choosing Cute Charm ID/SID RNG manipulation, because you're more versatile with those spreads than regular Synch ID/SID Abuse.

Great job, Gonzo on learning Emerald PID abuse for the shiny! Looks wonderful. Also, great ID!

tabor62 April 23rd, 2013 5:29 AM

Nice :D But you said something about how Gen III Abuse isn't actually all that hard? Tell us your secrets oh great one >.<

Gonzo April 23rd, 2013 5:44 AM

It's not that hard when you're used to hitting delays and using eontimer. The most difficult part is lack of reliable in-game sources of verifying your frame, so you either have to use emulator (don't, pls ;__; ) or you have to use some kind of external device. If you don't, you're eff'd. Calibration, PID verifying and then IV veridying process are tedious, really.

tabor62 April 23rd, 2013 6:00 AM

Hahaha...ha...ha... I can't do any of that so I'm screwed ;.;

Cordelia April 23rd, 2013 6:05 AM

I can't either, so don't worry, I am also extremely screwed.

Venusawr April 23rd, 2013 7:50 PM

Hey guys, quick question. I've been abusing the RNG in Black 2. A couple of days ago I tried to tuck in a Pokemon so I could access the Dream World. However, I was given an error message along the lines of "Game Sync has run out of energy. Please wait 24 hours before syncing again." I assume this is because I've altered my time/date settings for RNG purposes.

I tried accessing the Dream World just now, and I was able to tuck in a Pokemon just fine. I'm curious though...how would I be able to RNG Dream World pokes in the Entree Forest, while preserving my access to Game Sync features? Is there a workaround to the 24-hour waiting period? Or will I just have to bite the bullet and wait longer in-between Dream World sessions?

tabor62 April 23rd, 2013 8:03 PM

If I recall correctly you'll have to bite the bullet, sorry D: (unless there's a work around that I don't know). I don't Dream World RNG Abuse so I'm not exactly sure. I'm sure a more qualified RNGer will post an answer by the end of tomorrow.

Gonzo April 23rd, 2013 9:33 PM

@ Venusawr:

Whenever you change the time and/or date in your console, you have to wait 24 hours before you can tuck in a Pokemon again.

tabor62 April 24th, 2013 9:46 PM

Aaaah, is it true that for Gen III RNG you have to hit an exact millisecond? Cuz if so, I'll never attempt it. I can't be asked for something like that >.<

Gonzo April 24th, 2013 9:54 PM

pokemart789 May 8th, 2013 12:14 AM

Not sure if this is the right place for this.

Having trouble with RNGing a shiny egg (not fussed about IV's)

I've followed the steps above, but I don't ever seem to get a frame match, after a few attempts, I tried to find my parameters again, but it kept coming up with all the same numbers.

Anybody have any tips? Or am I maybe just missing my timer0 on the egg hatching bit?

Gonzo May 8th, 2013 1:30 AM

1. What game are you using?
2. Provide screens from RNG reporter, please.

pokemart789 May 8th, 2013 6:35 AM

pokemart789 May 9th, 2013 10:26 AM

Anybody know why my RNG Reporter has not picked up any shiny females in the 12.5% - category, with a specific nature. It also failed to get any non-shiny too, searched for the whole year.

Did a search for any nature, still not found any females....

tabor62 May 9th, 2013 2:43 PM

Have you tried keypresses? Choosing them will give you a much bigger selection of seeds to choose from.

Keypresses is where you hold certain buttons down right as the game starts up. You hold onto them until the Gamefreak Logo shows up. Depending on how many buttons you are willing to go up to, choose one, two, or three. In addition, some people have broken L and/or R buttons so they cannot do any seeds that require them. If you're one of those people, check the "Skip L/R buttons" box. Hope this helps.

pokemart789 May 9th, 2013 3:35 PM

That hasn't fixed anything :( Still getting no results. It's getting to the point where there's over 2000 and 0 females when I change the gender ratio

tabor62 May 9th, 2013 4:35 PM

Perhaps you could try changing the amount of months that you are searching though. In addition you could also change the year you want it to search through or increase the max amount of frames you are willing to advance.

pokemart789 May 10th, 2013 3:19 AM

Haven't changed the year, or the max advances past 300. I'll try that and see if it helps

Absol May 10th, 2013 9:33 AM

That's strange... Can you take a screenshot of the time finder the way you have it set up? You could have overlooked something and also we can see exactly what you're doing so we can help you better. :)

Oooooh, I see the problem now, you're only searching for Male eggs. Change "Male (87.5% Male / 12.5% Female)" to "Female (87.5% Male / 12.5% Female)"

pokemart789 May 10th, 2013 3:11 PM

oops, what a.... Cheers haha.

Absol May 10th, 2013 4:22 PM

It's alright. :) I was confused by the gender part too when I first started learning RNG lol

FrostPheonix May 11th, 2013 3:30 AM

Heya guys, quick question. I'm trying to get my SID on my platinum, unfortunately I dunno the pokemon's EVs so I was gonna use pokecheck to find out its SID. But since I don't have internet access on my platinum, I was gonna migrate to White to use pokecheck. Question being, would the SID change if I migrate? If you don't know its ok, I could try anyways :D

Gonzo May 11th, 2013 4:37 AM

No, every single bit of Pokemon stays the same except for catch date, its method and all generation transfer nuances.

bugsy555 May 21st, 2013 6:46 PM

Well i thought i would start learning to RNG today and i gotta say it's a lot harder than i thought it would be (and i thought it would be incredibly hard). Anyway i keep coming across the same problem. I've been using the guide here but every time i get a frame in the high thousands. Am i missing something? BTW i'm trying to hatch a shiny larvesta. Here's a screenshot.
http://postimg.org/image/ccc1nsf9j/

tabor62 May 21st, 2013 6:53 PM

Thousands? The frame you have selected says 102. Are you confusing the frame with the Seed or PID?

bugsy555 May 21st, 2013 7:01 PM

Sorry, this is what i mean
http://postimg.org/image/k9q2gmvhd/

I've been trying trying different seeds but they're all basically the same

tabor62 May 21st, 2013 7:10 PM

Strange, did you use a seed that listed a shiny in a much lower frame?

Munchlax11 May 23rd, 2013 6:19 PM

This is for Egg Abuse. I'm not new to RNGing, but I'm not the best at it. Earlier today I RNGed a flawless shiny Snorunt, Vulpix, and Sableye (all the same time and frame) then I tried to use the same time to RNG a Skamory, except I didn't want it to be shiny. So I unchecked the international box, and bred the US Skamory with a US Staraptor. The frame that I used to get the other pokemon slightly changed. (the gender changed to male, and the shininess) Why is it not working for Skamory? I'm advancing the frame 11 times just like I did for the Snorunt, but after trying around 15 times I'm not even coming close to hitting the frame I want because I don't see the natures I am getting are not anywhere near the frame I want. I'm not getting the same thing over and over again either. It's strange. I'll get a Rash nature one, then a Naive one, then a few careful ones(careful being the everstone nature). But I'm not changing the time or changing the number of times I advance the frame. ***I should mention I am using the Quick Egg Hatch code if that means anything, but it worked fine for the first 3.
Thanks for the help in advance! :)
*I can attach screenshots later if they would help!

tabor62 May 23rd, 2013 6:27 PM

Screenshots can really help, and using AR with RNG is not that great of an idea. It can screw around with the breeding sometimes.

Munchlax11 May 23rd, 2013 6:53 PM

2 Attachment(s)
Well, it hasn't really been a problem until now. I breed the egg, advance the frame, obtain the egg, save the game, then put in the AR, and it usually works fine :/. I've attached screenshots... Forgot to mention I'm using PPRNG instead of RNG Reporter bc I'm on a mac. The first one is what I used to obtain the first 3, then the 2nd is what I used to obtain the Skamory. I'm trying to hit 62.

tabor62 May 23rd, 2013 7:17 PM

The box marked "International" is ticked in the first screenshot and not the second one. International parents gives you more options for shinies.

Munchlax11 May 23rd, 2013 7:58 PM

Yes, I know. I don't want the Skamory to be shiny. In my first post I said I intentionally changed that. But does changing the international box make the number of times I need to advance the frame different?

tabor62 May 23rd, 2013 8:33 PM

Hmm, I'm not really sure why it does that. Perhaps try searching for a similar seed without having "International" ticked while searching for seeds. It does screw with it though if I recall correctly.

Absol May 23rd, 2013 8:38 PM

Yes. Changing International changes everything else. For the Skarmory you'll have to search for a different seed. Finding nonshiny seeds is very easy though so finding another seed won't be a problem.

Finally got to RNGing on my W2 and this is what I've gotten so far :D

Nice 'mons, cupcake!

Just a tip for the rest of Musketeers, kill them, they'll respawn at lvl 65 and they're easier to catch at 65 because of their worse movesets. Weird but true. :)

Hi, I just managed to do my first RNG today(Used PPRNG). The IVs went well, but the problem was the shininess. I checked the "Shiny Only" Box but then the pokemon that appeared wasn't shiny. Did I do anything wrong?

Screenshot of my target:

I don't know very well the PPRNG but, aparently you want a wild poke right??? or a stationary, etc

so you just need to dçfocus on hitting your target FRAME wich aparently is 182 and your starting frame is 48 so....
182-48=134 times you need to advance yuor frame

take note that if your want a wild pokes your frame can be dificult since Wondering-NPC mess up your frame if its a legendary o stationary then is quite simple but again the 134 is just a refence
even with a legend for example in my case usually is 5-6frames less so for me would be: 128-129

is just for you to try

I use PPRNG so I can help you.

Where were you trying to catch the Pokemon?

I was trying to catch in different places (Victory Road, Dragon Spiral Tower, and Chargestone Cave to be exact) There were no NPCs onscreen every time I tried.

tabor62 June 3rd, 2013 3:39 PM

Wandering NPCs don't have to be onscreen to affect your frame, they just have to be in the same room or area.

shayminskyforme88 June 4th, 2013 5:52 AM

Thanks for the help guys, I was able to RNG 6 shinies so far today.

Oh ok, how do you deal with the NPCs so they won't mess up your frames?

Griffinbane June 4th, 2013 5:58 AM

You have to get from one screen to the next in the lowest time possible to minimize the effect the NPCs will have on you. Then you have to determine how many frames they shifted, and adjust for it.

Well, can't really just "deal" with them. You either go to an area without any wandering NPCs, or adjust your frames accordingly like Griff said. Of course you could always be like me and assume your shifted number of frames is two, though you need to be able to be able to quickly get into the menu right when the game starts.

you cant, what happends is that the game always do the same so...
just do it as fast as posible then advance your frame and use sweet scent don´t give the NPC time to move but there is a catch while the animation of the sweet scent NPC moves

just do it a few time catch the poke check if the seed is right and then try to look for your actual frame then adjust and do it again

this is why is anoying you need to try again & again

My problem now is, I'm trying to rng Cobalion and there's no gender and encounter slot to check for which frame I landed in.
Update: Got Cobalion, Thanks for the help.

Hi, I had recently purchased a copy of Black 2 and I am trying to RNG my trainer ID. I'm having problems hitting the exact Timer0 value. Does anyone know how to do this? Also need help with Encounter Slots, the chart I found mentions location numbers instead of actual in game location. I'm using PPRNG by the way. Thanks in advance.

Black 2 and White 2 are more trolly then Black and White when it comes to hitting your timer0. Also, have you found your parameters for your Black 2 yet? You need your parameters for that game before you can RNG abuse for ID and/or SID. Since I don't use PPRNG I don't know about the encounter slots. Sorry about that >.<

Oh, so to hit the exact Timer0, I just have to keep trying? I've already found my parameters hitting the Timer0 is my only problem. I was able to get my TID and shiny starter though. Btw this is the exact encounter slot chart (http://)eggmove.com/encounterblack2.html(remove parenthesis, still can't post URL) . Thanks :)

Yes you just have to keep trying until you get it. It'll take a little while longer than it did in Black and White though. For the locations I use an online Pokedex such as Serebii to find the locations for the Pokemon I want and then match it up to encounter slots, although since there aren't any names it's hard to know exactly which one is which. :l

Also, congrats on getting the TID and shiny starter you wanted! :D

Good luck with that! Here's a helpful guide for RNGing Entralink Pokemon: http://www.smogon.com/forums/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=8893 If you have any questions feel free to ask them. :)

Gonzo June 20th, 2013 5:50 AM

So I was fooling around with Cute Charm abuse in 4th Gen. As you may know, I abused my ID/SID to get good shinies and apparently, all Cute Charm seeds have huge amount of shiny frames, so I got what I wanted to get:

Aéromite (Venomoth) ♀ http://www.pokecheck.org/i/lang/3.png (lvl 14)
https://www.pokecheck.org/i/anims/049.gif http://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/498.png
Nature: Timid || Ability: Shield Dust || OT: Camilla (200)
IVs: 31/10/31/31/31/31
Foresight|Supersonic|Confusion|PoisonPowder

and 3 other, bad IVs Pokemon to give away in Polish forums:

Oddish ♀ http://www.pokecheck.org/i/lang/3.png (lvl 10)
http://sprites.pokecheck.org/sicon/43.png http://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/497.png
Nature: Jolly || Ability: Chlorophyll || OT: Camilla (200)
IVs: 4/23/19/31/3/27

Venonat ♀ http://www.pokecheck.org/i/lang/3.png (lvl 8)
http://sprites.pokecheck.org/sicon/48.png http://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/007.png
Nature: Modest || Ability: Tinted Lens || OT: Camilla (200)
IVs: 20/11/16/27/1/12
Tackle|Disable|Foresight|Supersonic

Abra ♀ http://www.pokecheck.org/i/lang/3.png (lvl 9)
http://sprites.pokecheck.org/sicon/63.png http://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/496.png
Nature: Timid || Ability: Synchronize || OT: Camilla (200)
IVs: 2/12/18/24/20/4
Teleport|***|***|***

I recommend playing with it, because it's so funny when there's a shiny every 5-10 frames. If you don't care about IVs, just the shininess, it's a cool and easy method of obtaining them. You can literally get all pokemon living in a certain area as shinies (unless they're fixed gender/genderless).

Cordelia June 20th, 2013 5:54 AM

Nice job Gonzo, that's awesome. Unfortunately, I don't think many people bother with 4th gen lately so it might be something we need to get back into!

mathioks June 20th, 2013 6:12 AM

Hi, I've been reading on how to start out with RNG'ing, but I have one major problem..
I don't have wireless internet at my home, so I am stuck with a nintendo wi-fi connector for online DS thingies...
Now I was wondering if anyone out here would have some spare time to help me out on finding my sid for me, along with a certain pokemon I would need from pokécheck to start out on my RNG'ing adventure

You can PM me or just post it on here

thanks in advance

Gonzo June 20th, 2013 6:34 AM

We can go around that and make magic happen, jest tell me a few things:
- Are you using PC or laptop?
- what's your computer's OS?
- what games do you have?
- what kind of DS you have?

mathioks June 20th, 2013 6:43 AM

Thanks for the quick reply!
I am using a laptop windows 7, but I also have an old windows XP next to me ( I use this one to connect my nintendo usb connector to )
my games are white and black 2
and I have a regular DS ^^

Gonzo June 20th, 2013 7:00 AM

try this: http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/

Since you have a laptop, you have a built-in WiFi receiver. You can also use it to send WiFi signal! Just be sure to pick WEP, because DS (Lite) can't connect with WPA, unfortunately.

if this software won't work, try to google something similar, good luck!

mathioks June 20th, 2013 7:03 AM

Thank you! I will try it right away :D

Plumpyfoof June 20th, 2013 7:10 AM

Alright so I've started on all this today and I'm struggling to find accurate seeds in PPRNG for Mac. I know they're inaccurate because I try them several times over with the same result.
Is there something I should look for specifically that tells me it's on the right track or am I just really unlucky?

Also what do the Grass/Cave/Surf/Spot numbers represent and do I need to worry about them?

Gonzo June 20th, 2013 7:24 AM

Provide screenshots of your PPRNG, please. We can figure something out.

mathioks June 20th, 2013 7:29 AM

hey Gonz0, I am sorry to be bothering you with this again, but I cannot seem to find the option to change the Virtual router manager from WPA2 to WEP.
Would you by any chance know how this is done?

Gonzo June 20th, 2013 7:44 AM

I have absolutely no idea. You should try to google for similar software compatibile with WEP, I guess.

mathioks June 20th, 2013 7:45 AM

okay, will do, thanks a lot for the answers! :)

shayminskyforme88 June 21st, 2013 4:42 AM

Hi, I just recently started RNGing on my Black 2. I managed to find a seed which will get me a flawless shiny, but my problem is I can't get the time, date, timer0, vcount, and vframe values needed to hit this seed. Is there any way to find these? Using PPRNG BTW. Thanks in advance.

Cordelia June 21st, 2013 5:19 AM

You have to find your parameters using B2W2's parameter search in the program.

http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3411155&postcount=4

Use the calibration method in that post -- it works great and is quite fast.

shayminskyforme88 June 21st, 2013 8:37 PM

Ok thanks. Oh, Is it possible to RNG genderless stationary legends via Cute Charm method?

No, you cannot RNG genderless pokemons with Cute Charm Method. If it is possible, i suggest you try to go with Synchronise method only. For me, the cute charm method does not work for some reasons.

The time it takes to find a seed depends on what you're searching for. The more specific the seed you're looking for, the longer it'll take usually. If you're searching for a shiny flawless capture for example, it could take days to find a seed. D: On the other hand, if you're using flawless international parents for breeding and search for a shiny flawless seed, you should find plenty of seeds easily. All depends on what you're going for.
