Meet Xerneas and Yveltal

I want them to look amazing and really cool and they must have new powers.

SHOUT OUT TO THE BLACK DRAGON VULTURE GOD THING
LOOKS AWESOME

User19sq January 8th, 2013 3:19 AM

I didn't really like the elk-esque Legendary, but the big, dark flying one looked pretty impressive. I wonder what the new gimmick for them will be.

masaru3 January 8th, 2013 3:19 AM

I didn't like either of them. They were okay, but not better than Zekrom and Reshiram.

I wonder what types will they be.

cosmicdeoxys January 8th, 2013 3:21 AM

I'll be choosing the red one. It looked awesome!

Seki January 8th, 2013 3:22 AM

I saw some kind of deer-like Pokemon during that 10 minute stream, could that be a legendary Pokemon as well?

Rivvon January 8th, 2013 3:25 AM

I agree that they don't look as impressive to me as Reshiram and Zekrom, but I liked the X-eyed elk quite a bit more than the Y-shaped bird-dragon; the long legs and antlers are very elegant. I'd still like to see their roles in the story!

Guy January 8th, 2013 3:25 AM

The deer or elk-like Legendary, I like a lot. The flying dragon/vulture/phoenix type Pokémon was also impressive in my opinion. For once, I think I'm at odds to which mascot I favor most at the moment. Then again, we haven't really seen them in full, so I'll reserve my judgement till later on, but by golly, I must have them.

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 3:26 AM

For me, just going on appearance alone, I like them. I think they are an improvement on the previous legendaries, for me.

Starry Windy January 8th, 2013 3:26 AM

The blue legendary Pokemon (Xerneas) reminds me of Virizion!

Altairis January 8th, 2013 3:27 AM

It almost looked like the flying thing was the X and the deer thing was the Y, I think those were the legendaries and they looked alright.

Riku January 8th, 2013 3:27 AM

The stag one to me looks amazing from the teaser we got of it. The falcon/dragon/thing looks sleek and cool, but I think I'd take the stag this go around.

WinterKirby January 8th, 2013 3:28 AM

I think the flying one was Y mainly because of the color, but also because its shaped like a Y.

professor plum January 8th, 2013 3:29 AM

That elk Pokemon, though. ASdfslkdfjsadf. It looks absolutely majestic.
I cannot wait to see what impact they have on the story. =3=;

DrFuji January 8th, 2013 3:32 AM

Love the look of the elk Pokemon (which is Virizion 2.0), but not so much the flying... thing. They both look like the letter Y, maybe there's a third that looks like an X? :P

Olli January 8th, 2013 3:36 AM

I honestly think they look more like something out of Zelda than your typical Pokemon, but it's kinda the direction the Pokemon designs have been taking, and I won't complain. Need to keep it fresh so that they still appeal to newer players, and what's better to do that with than over-complicated designs of, to be honest, pretty amazing looking Pokemon. I mean look at those antlers, they were just trying to make them look as impressive as possible :p

But are their names really X and Y? ugh

Kotowari January 8th, 2013 3:37 AM

I love them. <3 It's been a while since I've been hyped about the legendaries. Reshiram and Zekrom were cool, but it took some time for me to really start liking them. These two, specially the stag Pokémon, are instant love. The blue one really looked majestic and intimidating, like a Legendary should be!
I honestly can't wait for the new games.... or at least more information about the Pokémon themselves.

blue January 8th, 2013 3:39 AM

I like the look of the mascots that made a cameo towards the end, they both look awesome.

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 3:41 AM

I will keep the first post updated when I have more information! Updated with pictures!

The Blue one is the X pokemon, it's legs are suppose to be cross forming an X but at first I did wonder which one was Y lol.

The deer is the X, it's blue colour matches the blue X of the game version plus the X has a spiky top trim resembing the deer's antlers.

Mothman~ January 8th, 2013 3:43 AM

They look awesome, but if their names turn out to be "X" and "Y," people are just going to roll their eyes at them.

It's just quick nicknames people who've watched the trailer have given them.

The look pretty interesting. Dunno which version to pick....hmm...what i'm really interested in is their backstories and abilities

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 4:01 AM

X is pretty cool, because he/she/it has SWORD LEGS!

Kotowari January 8th, 2013 4:03 AM

It is pretty cool. Also for those wondering about the X-shape of ... well.. X, it's in the eyes. :3
While Y has the Y-shape.

DestryLP January 8th, 2013 4:03 AM

Blue one is definitely the X Pokemon, it even has a "X" inside of its pupil.

BLOOOD-La-ti- January 8th, 2013 4:04 AM

Y is better,and wow they're names are pretty creative...yeah...-_-,

X and Y are not their actual names, just nicknames given to them, their real names will obviously be more creative ....and longer

11wildy January 8th, 2013 4:11 AM

I love the dragon one.. <3 it will probably be flying type, the deer will be grass type I guess.

I can't wait now O_o

Aqwarp January 8th, 2013 4:13 AM

The deer thing is X. They both look like Y, but the deer probably spreads it's legs or something and it looks like an X then. If you look carefully, you can see it has Xs in its eyes. The other one's legs are tiny so no way it's the X. This also coincides with the colors.

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 4:13 AM

What types do people think these are? Dark and Fire? Who knows! Place your bets now! :3

vaporeon7 January 8th, 2013 4:14 AM

Both look great but overall I prefer the flying one's appearance. They both look as if they'll have high speed stats.

SolarAbusoru January 8th, 2013 4:16 AM

my bet on types is Dark/Flying for the Y (how could it not be dark with THAT colouration??)
and Psychic/Grass for the X
the only problem with this setup is that it basically means Y is double effective against X so my type guessing could probs be better.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 8th, 2013 4:17 AM

The X mascot makes me think Steel with it's blue body and swords. The Y one screams Dark type. X can also be Psychic though and Y be Ghost.
Maybe the main trio will be Psychic, Dark, and Fighting

Daydream January 8th, 2013 4:17 AM

I'm thinking Y is possibly Dark/Flying? It doesn't look quite draconic enough to be a Dragon, to me. And X will maybe be Psychic/Steel guessing based on the glowy antler lights and steely sword legs.

Kanto_Johto January 8th, 2013 4:20 AM

Pokemon X and Y? Interesting names, to say the least.

Based on the legendary I'd pick Pokemon Y, but I'll have to wait to see the version exclusives first.

Also, apparently Europe is getting this first?

!Gambit January 8th, 2013 4:28 AM

They both look really impressive. If you look at the blue ones eyes you'll see the X's in them. I personally can't wait for Y and the fire stater :D

kammond January 8th, 2013 4:32 AM

The elk thing reminds me of something I'd see in a Ghibli film. Whoops nvm. I was talking about Princess Mononoke
They definitely have a different feel from other draconian legendaries. More "myth" instead of legend. I like it.

Everyone is getting the game at the same time in October 2013 and I don't think they are the names of the Legendaries, just the game.

Ho-Oh January 8th, 2013 4:35 AM

I love the pink flying thing a lot. Not a fan of the mix of Arceus/Virizion but the pink flying thing better be for X and they better do opposites like in B/W PLEASE. I really like the flying thing it's so badass srsly.

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 4:41 AM

I have also added a poll to the thread, as I forgot to add one in all the excitement! :3

Yeah, my X and Y comment was in relation to the games, this was the first thread I posted in after having found out the news haha.

Bluerang1 January 8th, 2013 4:56 AM

They're both great but preferring the Elk right now. It's so majestic. Also imagine these in the 2D sprites, yuck.

Yeh, the Elk is my favourite so far; those sword feed! :D

Bluerang1 January 8th, 2013 5:03 AM

Also I love how they might not have a Type in common! So no Dragon Trio-ish thing again!

giradialkia January 8th, 2013 5:06 AM

The letter 'X' on the logo is blue, and the letter 'Y' is red, so I'm taking that to mean X is the deer and Y is the demon bird dragon thingie.
(It's unlikely they mixed them up on purpose, I think it's safe to assume they're leaving the whole 'opposite' trends behind in Gen 5)
Also if the deer stood with it's legs out a bit, it'd make an X shape, whereas the flying one is definitely Y, no doubt about it.

I'm not crazy about the starter Pokemon designs, but I have to say I love the look of these legendaries. Hands down, though, Y wins for me. It just looks.. like, beyond X. It looks like a strange pairing though- like they paired Giratina with Suicune or something, there doesn't seem to be any similarities...

Also, did anyone else think "Dialga colour scheme" when they first saw X? The more I look the less I think this, but a blue body, with white metallic-looking parts.. :P

SkyRyder January 8th, 2013 5:09 AM

Neat, I like the color scheme with the 'Y' shaped Pokemon. Black + Red are my favorite combination.

I have a feeling that they won't have any mutual types between each other. One looks more like a dragon/fire/dark-type, while the other seems like a grass/steel/dark-- hmm, maybe I'm wrong. It's actually very hard for me to predict the exact typing of the 'X' shaped Pokemon. xD

Also, and this might not seem too out-of-the-dust, but I have a feeling that there will be a 'Z' shaped Pokemon along the way.

ShadowMirror January 8th, 2013 5:24 AM

the deer one is x because it has an x in its eye

I really like both of them more I look at them. I think I will still go for 'X', but I will want 'Y' at some point.

marcc5m January 8th, 2013 5:31 AM

Why is X a reindeer Dialga? Y looks cool.

Correspondence January 8th, 2013 5:34 AM

The new legends look a lot more intimidating than the previous ones but the dragon bird demon thingy definitely caught my eye.

Dillon_68 January 8th, 2013 5:35 AM

X'calibur and Y'vern. Calling it.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 8th, 2013 5:38 AM

I too thought of Dialga when I saw the Stag...and Virizion mixed together. Another type I can see the bird being is Electric/Dark with Levitate as it's ability. I think electric due to the red electricity like sparks on it's stomach. Also we need more Electric mascots, we've only had two thus far, Pikachu and Zekrom. We've had 3 fire and 3 water (4 in Japan) so I hope none of them are...well not like they look like fire or water types just saying.
Steel we can another of those, Dialga was cool.

Yep, I think it is rather clear now! :)
I don't know what types they will be though; be cool if Y is a Fire and Dark type.

Seth Rollins January 8th, 2013 5:42 AM

Hey guys, maybe those two legendaries are only from Y version because they both look like a Y. Maybe there are other two with the letter X to appear in X version. Lol, you know what I'm saying? And I prefer...um...both! xD. I thought that blue legendary was a shiny Virizon!

Retro Bug January 8th, 2013 5:45 AM

They both look like "Y" to me but I can see the "X" in the deer/elk's eyes and most certainly see the flying one's Y-ness. I still like "X" better with its multicolorness but Y looks really cool as well. If this is the case it means it doesn't seem like they went with the opposite legendaries for each game. I also don't think they will have a type in common but it'll be interesting to see if they do.

Captain Gizmo January 8th, 2013 5:50 AM

I'm guessing this is part of a trio? And the last one to complete is Z?

I like the flying Pokemon :D
I was never really fond of Pokemon that are Quadruped.

Indeed, you never know as the 'X' Pokemon was standing a little 'Y' shaped. However, I do believe that the 'X' is the face of Pokemon X, but that is just what I believe.

The Virizon version 2 can be an X too. Look, his ears and his legs, it makes an X!

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 6:12 AM

They both show signs of mirroring both letters. Just some features are a little more obvious and easier to spot, so that is why I think they are what they are.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if this turned out to be wrong.

blue January 8th, 2013 6:14 AM

'X' should clearly be called EXCALIBUR! You know, because of the sword feet!

Gary0ak January 8th, 2013 6:30 AM

They are really impressive, maybe Pokemon Y will be a Dragon/Dark,
http://media.tumblr.com/eedf958f415599884c0b4d0e00ccaeac/tumblr_inline_mgb11tnSc51rn01hr.png
and Pokemon X Will be a Psychic/Grass.

Also Pokemon X looks a bit like that one Fakemon on the cover of the pirate game Pokemon Jade (imo) :D

gimmepie January 8th, 2013 6:33 AM

Both a very cool but I like Y better. X seems very Elegant and graceful but Y is just beyond badass. I have wanted a pokemon with that sort of a look for so long. I don't hold high hopes for some of the lesser pokemon (like Froakie and Chespin for example) but the legendaries are amazing.

I'm guessing Flying/Dark for Y and Psychic/Steel or Grass/Steel for X.

I think the Elk Legendary Pokemon looks like the offspring of Stantler, Sawsbuck, Dialga and Virizion. The dark vulture looking Legendary, looks mysterious and especially badass, so I'm going to have to say I like it much more.

Eleventyseventy January 8th, 2013 6:44 AM

I know it's been said for years, but the introduction of a Light typing would make sense now by looking at these two legendaries.

Y-bird looks like a Dark/Flying type to me, while X-deer looks like Light/Steel type.

Lockmaster24 January 8th, 2013 7:26 AM

The Elk has X's in it's eyes during the close up, so I'm almost 120% sure that's X, unless they decide to BW us and reverse it.

I personally have never been one to say no to a giant Dragon/Bird thingy so I like Y a little more right now, but as a competitive battler, I will pick based on typing and stats.

Perico January 8th, 2013 7:32 AM

I'm still wondering why Y doesn't have the Y letter inside of its pupils too...
I still need to see them better (waiting for artworks) and then I'll decide which one I like the most. At this time given, I must admit that I like both of them - this has never happened to me before! Dilemma!

I think people overlooked the fact of which ones which, going in depth about it 'representing an X/Y'.

If you just look at the colours of them it speaks for itself.

Iceshadow3317 January 8th, 2013 7:45 AM

I really like both of them, but I like the Elk a little better bemay be a Dark type, goign off appearnce, but could be wrong like I was with Zekrom.

PlatinumDude January 8th, 2013 7:46 AM

I like both X and Y equally. I like how GameFreak incorporated the human chromosomes into their designs.

I don't know about your guys, but I can't picture a storyline from the way they look.

X is the Virizion like thing.
Y is the dark vulture. Seriously look at the shape, it's wings and tail look like a Y.

Super Virizion looks better than Mutant Staraptor imo. They might dethrone Dialga & Palkia for ugliest legendary pokemon, lol.

This!

I'm in love with "X" I think it's absolutely stunning!
"Y" on the other hand... I'm not even sure what it is. Does it have a face?

It will be interesting to see the "relationship" between these two. Every other legendary pair has been similar to each other, and these two appear completely different!

In the end, we could consider the DNA Splicers as a hint in Pokemon B2W2. I even thought that Y looks a bit like a chromosome (I mean the Y chromosome). But the idea faded out when I saw the elk, which doesn't look like the X chromosome at all.

Pinkie-Dawn January 8th, 2013 9:58 AM

Something tells me that Pokemon X will represent nature, but I'm not sure what Pokemon Y will represent since the sky is already taken by Ho-oh.

So the nature is by Celebi and Suicune xD (and Rayquaza goes to the sky too)
There aren't so many places we could think of for X and Y that aren't taken, actually.

There aren't so many places we could think of for X and Y that aren't taken, actually.

Celebi represents time travel, Suicune represents spring water, and Rayquaza represents the ozone layer. Those roles are entirely different.

I love both of these new legendaries, although I think I like the elk slightly more.

I love how they don't seem to be dragons (not sure about the flying red one) and they don't have this obvious "we're going to tear the world in half just by blinking" look about them. It reminds me of Ho-oh and Lugia. Which is a very good thing. :)

They seem more mysterious than past mascot legendaries too.

I agree with this. I actually really like that they don't look similar to each other like the more recent version mascots have. I can't wait to find out what they represent. ^_^

I'm not talking about what they represent (because Ho-oh doesn't represent the sky but the Sun), I'm talking about (and you were supposed to be talking about it too) which places would be for each one.

In this case, X and Y would represent... life and death?

This is something else I really like about these legendaries. Aside from the X and Y theme they don't feel related....it brings me back to Ho-oh and Lugia. (again :p)

Pokemon X looks like a Keldeo evolution.

What I want to know is how Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are going to be more powerful than the gods of Space and Time and the beings that bring balance to the world.

Well Galoria said the legendaries could represent Order and Chaos, given the theme of this gen.

Miss Doronjo January 8th, 2013 10:52 AM

Order and Chaos is definitely a possibility~

Whatever these new legendary pokemon represent, it'll be quite apparent that it will has something to do with the world... one way or another. It can be like, light and darkness because in a way, one can't survive without the other, even though these two forces conflict with each other. I really wish that this has something to do with DNA though - maybe these legendary pokemon represent the genetic codes of pokemon.

That can be interesting!

In other news, I am liking the new designs for these; it's a great step up from Gen V! That giant bird legendary reminds me of Mandibuzz + Lugia put together.

Okay look guys. LOOK AT FRIKKIN THIS.

It's a post from the Nuzlocke forums by a very smart person who goes by the nickname Urahara. I can't stop not buying this because NOTHING can stop me from buying this theory.

Here's the post.

Insofar, we've seen a legendary deer, and a legendary bird. They seem a little bit disjointed when compared to other cover legendaries, and they would be if you didn't know your norse mythology.

Yggdrasil is the world tree, and on the world tree, there are several animals you can find. An eagle (or a rooster)roosting at the top, four deer walking along the branches eating the buds, A squirrel who scurries up and down the trunk, and a snake who bites at the roots.

Kinda a loose correlation I know, but look at the deer. That thing has FOUR sets of antlers, a little bit coincidental, considering he has some unknown relationship with a bird that got him the cover page.

(plus a snake could totes make a Z shape.)

Aside from legendary tree. Try saying that out loud. A legendary tree Pokémon. FMITA but that sounds stupid.

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 11:00 AM

I said earlier that the Legendary 'Z' could be a snake! Great minds think alike.

Anyway, who knows. It is certainly a possibility.
