Elite Four and Champion

Time for some more speculation! What type do you think the E4 and the champion will use?Do you think the battling system will be the same as Gen V (We'll be able to choose in which order we battle the Elite Four) or will they go back to the system like in the older generations?

blue January 8th, 2013 6:03 AM

They seem to differ in each generation with the Champion using a diverse mix of types.

I'm hoping to see something like Flying > Water > Steel > Electric.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire January 8th, 2013 6:10 AM

I'm hoping the E4 are Fire,Grass, Water, and Electric.
As for Champ a female Dark Champ!

shengar January 8th, 2013 6:10 AM

I prefer classic types
Grass <> Fire <> Water <> Normal
The Champion is mixed

Cyndafan January 8th, 2013 6:22 AM

that web in the trailer I think its a bug gym

curiousnathan January 8th, 2013 6:25 AM

First things first. No more, Psychic, Dark, Ghost, Dragon and Fighting Types. Boring. The Elite Four is in desperate need for some diversity. Sinnoh brought us some, with Bug, Ground and Fire typed Elite Four members, and it seemed to be generally well received, so why not try it again? I'd really like to see this generation's Elite Four specialise in Steel, Fire, Electric...even Grass or Water typed Pokemon.

As for the Champion, I really hope they're mixed. Cynthia perfectly exemplifies how powerful a mixed team can be, so I think if we want another real challenge, the developers should invest in creating a Champion with a variety of different Pokemon.

I'm also pondering on the battle themes and appearance of the Elite Four. I want them to look smart, intimidating and powerful, as they should be. I don't want frilly gowns and torn fighting outfits. This also applies to the Champion as well. Every aspect of them, needs to fit the title they play. If the battle music was anything like Unova's then I'm more than looking forward to battling them eventually. If it's some crazy, wonderland music like Iris', then eh...not so much.

gimmepie January 8th, 2013 6:44 AM

I'm expecting them to throw us a curve ball and go for something different (types yet to be seen in the E4 for example) I'd love to see Water/Grass/Fire/Electric with a mixed champ and I'm hoping for the same system (choice of order) as Gen V

Agreed, those type are already overdone to death. Other types as Elite Four sepcialization would be good. It would even more so if the Elite Four have some mixed up team. Half of their team is Pokemon of the same type, and the rest is mixed. Only Champions have their Pokemon mixed up completely.

Unnova's Elite Four Battle theme is a beast. Second only to HGSS Gym Leader/Elite Four theme. Really fitting for a battle against elite trainers like them. I'll hope they didn't disappoint us this time.

Seth Rollins January 8th, 2013 6:55 AM

Hmm...well, all I want is for the champion to use various types, it makes the battle much interesting :D

Pokemon Trainer Ethan January 8th, 2013 6:58 AM

I want the elite 4 and champions to tricks up their sleeve their ace pokemon

Pinkie-Dawn January 8th, 2013 8:21 AM

I'm hoping for the Elite 4 to use the main elements (Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water) with the Champion using a mixed team representing Heart. We your powers combined, I'm Captain Planet!

kevcrash January 8th, 2013 8:55 AM

I'm hoping they do a complete twist on the normal types in the E4. There should be some kind of theme that doesn't only include types.

If they had to do types, though, they need Flying, Electric, Grass, and Water.

Livewire January 8th, 2013 8:58 AM

Some unconventional Elite Four types would be great - Electric, Grass, Flying, Rock, Ice, etc. And a champion with either mixed types like a Cynthia, or a single type or motif like Lance.

Logan January 8th, 2013 9:02 AM

My only hope for the E4+C is that they're just the like the other games. I guess typewise that they cover whatever the Gym Leaders don't.

Jellicent♀ January 8th, 2013 10:22 AM

If they have ANOTHER Dragon type Elite Four member I'm seriously flying to Japan and punching all of GameFreak as well as their families in the face. Not just their nose, but the whole face.

I'd love to see Electric, Ice/Water, Grass, Flying, and then the Champion...hmm, NORMAL. <3

Esper January 8th, 2013 11:51 AM

I just want to see something new and different this time around. I know that won't happen because it's tradition to do things a certain way, but some surprise would be good. Have one of the E4 be your player's parent. Have the E4 be a random selection from a pool of characters. Have the the battles be organized like a tournament. Something.

And seeing some types we haven't seen much of at the end of the game would be nice. Grass, Normal, Flying. Wouldn't go amiss. Please no more dragons.

SkyRyder January 8th, 2013 1:23 PM

It would be pretty cool to see the elite 4 using weather-based teams instead of just one type. So like sandstorm, hail, sunny, and rain based teams. Not sure of what the champion would have. Maybe a mix of those four.

(Speculation)(Pokemon X & Y) The Pokemon League

So, as everyone knows the Pokemon League has always worked the same in every version of the games, you go up against the Elite Four, and if you lose you have to restart. I hope to see some sort of thing like the show where you go against other people who are trying to face the E4, make it a type of tournament thing, this would add a big reply value to the games as well as freshen them up. What do all of you think?

Captain Fabio January 8th, 2013 1:48 PM

Merged into the existing Pokemon League/Elite Four thread.

Kenshin5 January 8th, 2013 8:27 PM

I'd like to see Rock, Grass, Flying, Normal, and Electric. I'd be fine if the champ was either Electric or Flying.

Definitely don't want to see the generic types they filled the Elite Four with over the last several games. Way too many Dragon, Dark, Psychic Elite Four. If we could go this generation and the next generation without a few of those aforementioned types I'd be very much content.

Altairis January 8th, 2013 8:55 PM

I hope the Champion this time around is someone unexpected! Maybe not the person who goes around talking about bonds between trainers and Pokemon?

I could imagine a Grass type flower girl, but I'm guessing the reason that they don't use those types is because by the time someone reaches the Elite Four they already have the basic fire/water/grass/etc moves on their teams and are easily countered. Dragons are hard to hit, and can learn a variety of moves (and are pretty rare) so I'm guessing thats why dragons are almost always used.

MantisboyN January 8th, 2013 9:04 PM

I'd root for Ice - Ground - Flying - Steel with a champion using a set up with all dual typing and no duplicates.

Aeon. January 8th, 2013 9:13 PM

I'm up for types we haven't seen before. Mainly Grass - Water - Electric - Rock.

The champion? The player's mother. Just throw the biggest possible curve ball by doing that.

That's a nice idea, I was thinking something similar. Maybe the professor of the region has a final test for you, idk. I just want someone who surprises you as the champion.

For types, I guess:
Steel
Rock
Flying
Poison

Correspondence January 10th, 2013 9:26 AM

I hoping to see the basic types in this Gen: Grass, Fire, Water and Electric. And Normal for the Champion, want to see how GF would make that work.

And since the games are in 3DS i'm hoping they'll finally implement a tournament league like in the anime but that is highly doubtful.
