Quadruple Battles? and 8 Party Slots?
For Years the Pokemon Franchise has done well with only 6 Pokemon on a Team
But Don't you think it would be much cooler if we could Travel with 8 Pokemon at a Time? I Do We all Know the 3DS Would be able to Easily Handle it Also Maybe Quadruple Battle's could be added to the Mix Example P1a - P1b P2a - P2b P3a - P3b P4a - P4b P1a Can Attack P1b and P2b But not P3b or P4b P2a Can Attack P1b, P2b and P3b but not P4b P3a Can Attack P2b, P3b and P4b but not P1b P4a Can Attack P4b and P3b but not P2b or P1b However Moves that Hit all the Pokemon Would do the Following P1b Uses Earthquake Earthquake Hits P1a P2a P2b P3b And Vice Versa What do you think? |
No and no. Both ideas are too much.

I think its the perfect time to do it now that the games are going fully 3D It would be epic |
No, I don't think so. Triple Battles is enough and 8 pokemon? Nah, too much. It would be too chaotic with quad battles...
|
Oh please dear God no. That's...no no. :( Too many things going on for me, and we've gone 5 generations already with the 6 party formula, and that's just fine. I don't think we need to increase to 8.
|
Though I like the idea of breaking tradition (in the case of having eight Pokemon), I think having six is enough. Same with Quadruple battles--I think sending out only half your Pokemon is best. Things would get waaaaaay too messy and confusing on the screen if you had more than that.
|
Quadruple Battles could work if you couldnt attack with all 4 at once
|
I wouldn't mind having an 8 pokemon team, but I really hate the idea of 4 vs 4 battles.

Hm... well I think it will remain as triple battles, 'cause though it happened in Generation V... it would be too soon to introduce quadruple battles.
|
If one were look at the pattern Quad battles will come generation 7
1st- one (duh) 3rd- double 5th- Triple 7th- Quadruple 9th- Quintriplet 11- Hexatriplet. Though tbh four is too much even for someone who enjoyed triple battles. |
The different battles were
One on One (two trainers with up to 6 Pokemon) Double Battles (two trainers using 2 Pokemon with up to 6 Pokemon in increments of 2) Tag Battles (four trainers, each using 1 with up to 3 Pokemon) Triple Battles (two trainers each using 3 with up to 6 Pokemon.) Rotation Battles (two trainers each using 3 with up to 6 Pokemon) You couldn't go more than 4 trainers in a battle even in Gen 5. I don't see Quadruple battles being done. Nor do I see the party limit raised to 8. |

5: Quintuple / Pentuple 6: Sextuple / Hextuple ...I won't even explore what else Sextuple "could" mean. Cyclone |
I don't think it would come anytime soon, maybe it will but it'd be too odd, IMO maybe it will but I doubt that there will be 8 Party Slots, they've had only 6 for forever, and I'd prefer it that way idk why xD
|
Game Freak has done enough damage with Triple and Rotation Battles, no more please.
|
During the battles in the trailer, you could see 6 Pokeballs representing the number of Pokemon in your party at the bottom left of the screen. Thus, showing that only 6 Pokemon can be in your party. And let us all hope there wouldn't be quadruple battles xD
|
The trailer already confirmed that the Party Size will remain at 6.
as for Quadruple Battles? Please, ARCEUS, NO! Triples are nutty enough! |
Actually, I can see quads being a varient on doubles.
Basically, you'd have two set of 2. Before your turn starts you'd have to option to switch to the second set. Kinda like rotation battles, where you have the option to rotate your pokemon around. |
No Quadruple battles. There would just be too much going on at once.
And having 8 Pokemon in your party- I'm indifferent to this. Having only 6 could add to the challenge of making a team. |
I never have enough slots in my party, so 8 pokemon will work perfectly fine for me.
Still, we've been using 6 pokemon since the begining and that's certainly not going to happen. About the 4 on 4 battles... that' just too much, I could barely handle tripples. |
I liek the six pokemon system, I think that having an eight pokemon party would make the game too easy and just too much. I also think that 4 v 4 would make the game too much and would make battles too hectic. I'm against both ideals.
|
Absolutely against this.
I think 6 Pokemon is just enough to have in a party and it will probably never change. And I don't like the idea of 4 vs 4 battles cos it would go completely off balance. Singles, Doubles, Triples and Rotations is enough battle-wise. |
I think 8 Pokemon in party is good idea in my opinion, but, as seen in trailer of Pokemon X and Y, the game still keeps 6 Pokemon in party as their basics, so the '8 Pokemon in party' feature is never going to happen in this game. But 4 vs 4 Pokemon battle feature might be nice.

Carrying around eight Pokemon instead of the usual six would be an interesting change for them to make, but I don't think it's really necessary. Part of the strategy for team-building comes from the fact that you only have six slots to work with, and really I don't think you need any more than that; it's been good enough for the last decade and a half. There are changes for improvement, and changes for the sake of changes, and I think that would probably fall into the latter category.
Triple battles and Rotation battles are already a complete and utter mess though, why throw a fourth Pokemon into the mix and make it even more chaotic? I really hope they don't do this in any format, because it'd just be a complete and utter nuisance. I never bothered with triple or rotation battles in the fifth gen unless I was forced to - and then I grumbled about it whilst trying to get out of it as quickly as possible - and I can't see myself enjoying 4 vs 4 battles either. |
It would make things so very confusing for everyone, I'm against this idea too.
