Each trial represents a "badge" and each Kahuna should be battled using your main Time Rift team only.

Sorry for the late reply, but thank you for the clarification!

Cool! I want to as I an Ultimate Challenge.

Name: RedHead!
Era: Egyptian Era
Game: Y

Also I have a couple questions:
1. Can we use pokemon that aren't an allowed type of the era as long as it evolves into one of the allowed types?
2. Does Onix count as having a nose?

First Update!
Spoiler:

1. I seem to have arrived in the time of pharaohs and pyramids: The Egyptian Era.
2. I picked Fennekin as a starter, to be boxed later.
3. I used Fennekin to catch two pokemon:
Scatterbug which I named Khepri after the Ancient Egyptian goddess of the Scarab Beetle.
And Pidgey which I named Horus after the Ancient Egyptian god of the Falcon.
4. I went through Santalune Forest and caught a Kakuna, which I named Wadjet after the goddess of Protection (I just needed it because it doesn't have a nose.
5. I made it to Sanalune City and boxed Fennekin.
6. Went to Route 22 and caught a Litleo which I named Sekhmet after the goddess of Lions and Fire..
7. I grinded for a while.
8. I beat all of the gym trainers.
9. Time to battle Viola!
10. Horus easily beat Surskit with just 1 Gust.
11. Sekhmet defeated Vivillon with only 2 embers.
12. That's all for today! I'll continue more tomorrow.

Spoiler:

The Team:
Horus (Pidgey) lvl12
Sekhmet (Litleo) lvl13
Khepri (Vivillon) lvl12
Wadget (Beedrill) lvl10

1. You can use any type that's NOT on the Banned list as long as it evolves into one of your era types. You can also use dual types with an Allowed type and one not specified in either the era types and banned types sections.
2. I honestly never thought of that but I think it DOES have a nose? I just looked at a picture and yeah, that does look a bit like a nose. I guess Onix is in a bit of a gray area (pun not intended).

Second Update!

1. Caught a Budew in Route 4 which I named Hathor after the goddess of Love.
3. Picked Squirtle at Lumiose to be a Surf Slave. 4. Went through the stuff at Lumiose.
5. Went through the stuff at Parfum Place.
6. Caught the Snorlax, which I named Mafdet after the God of Justice.
7. Caught a Croagunk, which I named Set, after the Egyptian god of justice.
8. Caught a Helioptile which I named Anhur after the god of the Sky.
9. Hathor evolved!
10. Battled Cliff and easily beat him. It only took two rock smashes from Set to beat the Amaura, and Mafdet with a Rocky Helmet eventually beat the Tyrunt.

Time to try the Time Rift and I'm crazy enough to randomize the rifts. This might bite me in the butt. I should be able to post update frequently enough since I plan on streaming it Saturday-Tuesday until I'm done.

Jumping Through Time - A Pokemon Silver Time Rift Challenge

So this has been fun for me so far. I've been streaming this and chatting up with a few friends while doing this. I'm going to break down what all has happened badge by badge.

Start to Falkner: The first rift doesn't happen until I beat Falkner. So I take this time to work up a team member that will need to be around no matter what. So since I'm playing at night, I grab a Hoothoot. Now I have never used Noctowl until now and I'm going to be in for a ride. It's not a fun moveset to work with outside of Hypnosis and Reflect with out TMs. Falkner was no problem at all.

Falkner to Bugsy: The first rift was randomized to Stone Age. Rock will do wonders against Bugsy so that is my chosen type. I stocked up before Falkner just incase I did get a no buying rift. I catch a Geodude and to my best to get in as few trainer battles as possible to preserve items. Getting my EXP from grinding. I also made sure to do the second rival battle before Bugsy to make sure it wasn't just my Hoothoot.

Bugsy to Whitney: I got Mobster Mania and since I wasn't planning on gambling I went for the buy everything rule. Poison was my chosen type. That does make it so I buy less Super Potions than I wanted. I grabbed and Oddish, but then realized Grass is banned normally under Time Rift rules so I dropped it and got a Nidoran F. The Togepi egg hatches at this point too. I also catch a Drowzee. Whitney takes two tries to do because of Miltank.

Whitney to Morty: Rift here was Westward Expansion. Geodude buddy comes back since Rock is a type I can use here. Having to sell things i find before I buy isn't too bad of a rule. Rival battle #3 is here and is not too much of a problem. Morty actually also too two tries because I forgot to buy Awakenings for when mons get put to sleep by Gengar.

Morty to Chuck: Medevial Era was where I was sent next. Rule is almost the same as Westward Expansion except I can sell anything and I can get Nidorina back. This lets me finally sell the Flower Mail I was forced to buy in the Mobster Mania rift. Before actually going to Olivine I take a detour to Mahogany to go to the northern route and get my required Girafarig. The lighthouse wasn't a problem, but now I was starting to get behind in levels.

Level grinding session to level 25 was needed. Actually found a Shiny Tentacool while level grinding. I catch it just because that's what you do. And figured if I get into a Rift where water was a type, I could use it. Chuck was quite a bit of a problem with his Poliwrath.

Chuck to Jasmine: To Egypt we go and I couldn't so the no nose rule since all but 1 team member had a nose. No buying items again. Poison was still a used type, but it really wouldn't have matter. Jasmine is Steel type and another level grind session happened. This time to level 30 since the level jump goes from 30 to 35. Steelix wasn't as much of a threat as Magnemite was. It's a short rift time.

Jasmine to Pryce: Post-Apocalypic. If this was earlier in the game I would have been more ok to buy the lowest grade items, however this is Badge 6 to 7. I had to do the Left for Dead rule since no now one could learn bite at the time. Good thing is Lance does give a free heal at the Mahogany Rocket Base.

Now I interpreted the rule as I can go to a center once per town when you arrive at a town. While I did have fly, I only was going to go to places I needed to go for other things. So Mahogany was before I did Lake of Rage. Lance heal at the Rocket base. With no Pokemart at Mahogany I needed to fly back to Olivine to buy items. I did heal there. I didn't heal there after I got Jasmine's badge. If that is still breaking the rule for Time Rift variation, that is my mistake.

And as I was writing this, I actually remembered that the Rocket base gets converted to basically a Pokemart once the Rockets leave. So I think I did break the rule. Oops.

Pryce himself was no problem since he's a lower level than Jasmine.

That is where I am right now 7/16 badges. Current Rift is Jurassic Jam and my chosen type is Water.

This challenge looks really sweet, I have to do it

I am going to Play Pokemon X and try to beat every challenge in chronological order, kinda like I have to beat each era as I am going to get back to my time in the future.

I have a question:

The Jurassic Jam states we need to use a fossil pokemon, the fossils in X, Y are Tyrantrum and Aurorus however aurorus is Ice type which is banned, is Aurorus available for use or do we have to take Tyrantrum

Mandatory Pokemon are exempt from the banned list. You can use mandatory pokemon regardless of their typing.

EDIT: What's the policy on starters when none of them are an allowed type? Do we have to remove them first chance possible? Can I give myself a level 5 qualifying pokemon found in the game I've chosen?

You can use your starter until you get your first era type. Then you have to store/release your starter.

I couldn't find this thread via the forum but found a link that another member gave me via google. Now I dont know if the challenge is dead or not but I wanna do it. I have a question about era, if say one era allows water type but not ice, can use dual water/ice types like lapras? Also for the time rift rules, for every badge do I take only one rule from each era or do I have to follow everything of that said era?

Might as well revive this thread because it's a good one. Poison, Fighting, and Psychic are plenty sufficient for Blue.

Er... Normal-type MOVES weren't banned, right? Because that would be very difficult in Blue... Oops. Well, I'll just pretend I didn't see that specification.

Spoiler:

Start with ARTHUR the Bulbasaur as only allowed starter. Solo up through Cerulean, where I get MORDRED the Kakuna and MERLIN the Abra.

Fun fact: Beedrill doesn't learn Fury Attack until L12 in Gen 1. :( I actually used Struggle against the girl with the Oddishes before Bill's House...

Progression continues as normal. I take it Golem isn't strictly necessary, since I can't trade. GAWAIN the Machoke became a TM/HM soak for coverage.

Threw on LE FEY the Tentacool at Cinnabar on a whim, on account of realizing my Safari Zone GUINEVERE the Nidoqueen would be a poor Surfer and I might as well use a Water-type.

Bought my 10x Full Restores and 10x Revives at E4 and headed in. Lorelei went down readily to a combination of ARTHUR and LE FAY, though I had to Potions-stall Lapras while waiting for Poison to take it down. Bruno was easy as usual. Agatha scored crit Wing Attack against MERLIN, so LE FAY had to come in. ARTHUR soloed Lance thanks to poor AI.

With a Poison-dominated team, Rival was... not the easiest. LE FAY handled Pidgeot, but MERLIN had to gulp a Max Ether and several heals for Alakazam. Rhydon was a joke, Exeggcutor was handled through poisoning, and Gyarados ate several Razor Leafs. That left Charizard, which immediately locked itself into Rage and was mercy-KOed by LE FAY.

8 Full Restores and 3 Revives, plus other miscellaneous heals, were used.

Team:
LE FAY the L46 TENTACRUEL
Surf | Poison Sting | Constrict | Barrier
MERLIN the L42 KADABRA
Psychic | Psybeam | Teleport | Recover
ARTHUR the L50 VENUSAUR (run MVP)
Razor Leaf | Poisonpowder | Leech Life | Tackle
GAWAIN the L32 MACHOKE
Rock Slide | Strength | Low Kick | Dig
MORDRED the L13 BEEDRILL
Cut | Fury Attack | Harden

Honorary mentions: GUINEVERE the very temporary NIDOQUEEN (used for Surf) and ! the DODUO, purely for HM02 use.

Thoughts:
Gen 1's Fighting-types are pretty weak, and Steel wasn't available, so this was a Poison run. Psychic was good, but I tried not to lean too much on MERLIN.

The barter system was kind of fun, though the types were strong enough that I had very little need to buy more than PokeBalls. it was nice to finally get use from junk TMs and vitamins, though. :)

One question I have before I start this up... For the Stone Age, it says I'm not allowed to buy items except herbs, but does that include TMs? Because I'm doing the challenge on Black and only just remembered that rule when it came to Nimbasa City (I haven't bought items yet, including TMs), so I want to make sure I'm not breaking that rule by including it. Thanks!

That actually includes TMs as well. It's the Stone Age so there's really no way around it. The only TMs allowed are the ones you get as rewards from gym battles. Or whatever you find on the ground I suppose.

In any case, you folks thought I was dead but I am not. I plan on reviving this challenge properly by starting over in a fresh thread and properly keeping track of things. So stay tuned for that ;)

So if I wanted to start a challenge, should I just wait until you start the new thread?

You can sign up here if you want to. I don't foresee any changes to the rules or anything. I'll just make a new thread and give the challenge a mini facelift. That way I'll be able to keep track of people's progress.

Ahri March 27th, 2018 11:24 PM

Just a reminder.... sadly, nobody posted after me so I'll have to double I guess...

The new Time Warp thread has been submitted and is currently awaiting approval. Check back once it is for the link <3 There's some tweaks here and there and some new surprises. So stay tuned for the revival of this challenge :D

And if you don't mind me, I'll be locking this thread up now. It'll be outdated in about 37 seconds.
