Spriting School
2 Attachment(s)
I noticed now that there are a lot of people starting to sprite. Not necessarily spriting Pokémon, but other things too. You will learn Custom Spriting, Fusing, Recoloring, and that stuff. First Lesson, you'll be spriting the 1st Ever Sprites.
THE 8 BIT SPRITES! :D Not exactly 8-bit, more like 4-bit, But we'll start it as 2-bit [Black and White] 1. Get a ready made sprite [ Mario, Megaman, Samus, whatever, but make sure its sprites for the NES] 2. Open the program 'Paint' And give yourself some space. How about 300x300 pixels. 3. Paste the already made sprite into Paint. 4. Using the Line tool, draw lines from the sprite to the right, Draw lines that mark the Eyes, the hands, the feet, the mouth, the hair, and so on. This will help you keep the proportion right. *attached* 5. ZOOM in to the Sprite, and start Spriting, Use the pencil and do it pixel by pixel. It's ok if it looks a lot like the original sprite, we're getting the proportion right. *attached* 6. Fill in the sprite with colors. Try to keep it to the 4 color rule. And if you don't know what that is. You realize that all the NES sprites only have 4 colors? Its because NES sprites were made with the numbers 1 and 0. So Lets say you used Red, Green, Blue and Yellow Red would be 10 Green would be 11 Blue would be 01 Yellow would be 00 7. OPTIONAL. Make a Sprite sheet for your custom sprite. *Attached* Post your result here. THen we can learn the next lesson. Whatever that is. Ideas please. :D |
