Hikamaru March 20th, 2013 6:53 PM

I always love sleeping, my bed is just so soft I want to always have a nap in it.

However, PC is usually to blame for me staying up so late.

Sir Codin March 20th, 2013 6:55 PM

Yeah, PC always keeps me up.

And TV Tropes. And Fallout. And Fire Emblem. And Pokemon. And caffeine. And anxiety. And depression. And excitement. And porn. And heavy metal. And my cats. And my loud-ass neighbors. And...

Correspondence March 20th, 2013 6:56 PM

Even though i love sleep, the internet is just better.

Starry Windy March 20th, 2013 6:57 PM

For me, sleeping is good. And sometimes I find myself want to sleep in the afternoon...

I love TV Tropes, it has so many interesting facts!

Ephemeral Euphoria March 20th, 2013 7:02 PM

The internet in general keeps me up, just so I can find something interesting enough to keep me going. Thankfully Youtube doesn't disappoint at least for now anyways.

Shiny Celebi March 20th, 2013 7:13 PM

I just stay up for no reason on the internet, it's too distracting and very easy to just lose track of time.

Blade_of_darkness March 20th, 2013 7:19 PM

Yeah? Well I stay up because everything happens during the nighttime. Doesn't it?!

Aura Vitae March 20th, 2013 7:20 PM

I usually don't sleep till around midnight because either I'm fooling around on the internet or playing my 3DS.

FO3 would keep me awake - If it didn't crash every ten minutes. :/

After a few times I get annoyed by it, give up, and don't touch the game for a week or so.

Aura Vitae March 20th, 2013 7:24 PM

Sleeping cats and kittens are cute though I prefer dogs if only because my dog acts as my alarm clock.

This has been my means of waking up for a good 6 months now, to say it's simply dreadful would be a monumental understatement.

Sableye~ March 20th, 2013 7:38 PM

Unless I have to get up excessively early, I never go to bed before at least midnight. I prefer being awake- sleep seems like a waste of time, to me.

Eating dinner, so I won't be around as much.

Edit: Being woken up by pets?
My cat used to wake me up by wandering onto my bed and just walking across me.
He was somewhat trained, though. I just had to call him with specific phrases and he would run upstairs and wait for me on my bed.

Taemin March 20th, 2013 7:42 PM

I'm the same way. I stay up until all hours, because I feel like I could other things instead of just sleeping for so many hours. Unfortunately for me, humans need sleep to function. XD; I usually get six or so hours. Kinda bad of me.

Sableye~ March 20th, 2013 7:47 PM

Haha.
I have to get sleep, despite not wanting to, considering I end up even more grouchy than usual when I'm tired. [; But staying up all night is worth being that tired. I'm too busy to do it much, sadly.

Mr. X March 20th, 2013 7:49 PM

My cat was a somewhat useless alarm.

He'd always jump on my bed at 5:30 to try to wake me up, give up after a few minutes, and find a spot on my bed to sleep at.

Speaking of useless cats...
http://global3.memecdn.com/for-sale-one-totally-useless-cat_o_804769.jpg

Taemin March 20th, 2013 7:51 PM

Man, I'm a really light sleeper, it sucks. XD My cat could paw at my door and I would wake up from it. 8|

Sableye~ March 20th, 2013 7:52 PM

Well, if you didn't want to get up at 5:30, I assume that it's a good thing that he was "worthless" in that aspect haha.

Mine never really tried to wake me up. He just stepped on me. Less confusing than when a family member decided to wake me up by putting my pet rat on my face, at least.

You got Windows 7? Yeah, game wasn't really optimized for that OS. Bethesda really didn't make it with the future in mind. Fallout: New Vegas, once the latest update is installed, doesn't have as many issues.

Speaking of Fallout games, you gotten around to playing the old Fallout games yet? I'm about to start another try at Fallout 2.

Mr. X March 20th, 2013 8:02 PM

Haven't played through 1 or 2 yet.

I had crashing issues on XP too. Then again, that computer had crap specs, I never made any ini edits, and I used a pretty crappy load order for my mods.

Sableye~ March 20th, 2013 8:04 PM

Haha I think you have a picture of my cat there.
A while ago, some ants got into the house and they were eating his food. He just sat there, meowing, until someone noticed. Didn't even try to get them. I: Oddly enough, that cat looks quite similar to my feline's brother.

Sir Codin March 20th, 2013 8:06 PM

Ah.

I have no doubt Fallout 3 will run better on my computer, but I'm not going to get it for PC when I already have it on Xbox. The other Fallout games are more fun, anyway.

Mr. X March 20th, 2013 8:14 PM

I prefer PC gaming to console gaming. Primarily because of mods.

Ephemeral Euphoria March 20th, 2013 8:20 PM

The only major reason why I'd probably go back to PC gaming someday would have to be the fact that Starcraft 2 exists. That and Star Wars The Old Republic which I've heard a lot of good things about.

Livewire March 20th, 2013 8:29 PM

I'd be asleep if it wasn't for my Art History notes. >:(

And only PC game I really played religiously was Rise of Nations and Age of Empires.

Synerjee March 20th, 2013 8:30 PM

The internet sure is something like caffeine isn't it? It's a wonderful, wonderful agent of keeping people awake during ungodly hours.
I also am quite a heavy sleeper. Nothing would disturb me except my phone alarm. I am extremely sensitive to it; I would almost instantly awake the moment it starts. I'll be awake, but I'll keep on trying to go back to sleep lol The only other thing would be my younger brother tackling me in the morning ahha.

or maybe a taser

I think that's pretty much what it takes to wake me up like a normal person kinda fast. If you don't do something drastic I take about 20 minutes to get up lol

Sir Codin March 20th, 2013 8:42 PM

I've always been more of a PC gamer. I don't deny that Fallout 3 would be better with mods, but after playing the other Fallout games, something just doesn't seem right about the way FO3 turned out.

Mr. X March 20th, 2013 8:43 PM

http://0-media-cdn.foolz.us/ffuuka/board/vg/image/1360/46/1360460187995.jpg

This game was all I played for about a year. Still one of my favorites to the day - A pity that it either won't run, or runs like crap on 7. (It's that random. Either **** you, I'm not going to start or hahahahaha I'll crash at random just to piss you off.)

I'm happy that a new HG game is in the making, but from what I've seen so far it looks like it's going to be a cross between HG and Armored Core FF.

But what about the thing where you're so tall you die because you jump so high

and then you set it to 0 and you're a corpse on the ground

Ephemeral Euphoria March 20th, 2013 9:13 PM

Spore, Star Wars Empire At War, and Warcraft 3 was what kept my PC gaming faith going back then, mostly it was just Spore though since I blitzkrieged my way through EAW and WC3 with little difficulty and it took me a good month or 2 before I could reach the center of the galaxy in Spore after I realized that plowing a pathway through the Grox would take forever and a half even though it would be little to no problem for me given how strong my empire was.

Morkula March 20th, 2013 10:04 PM

I want to get more into PC gaming since I have a capable desktop...I've amassed a decent collection of Steam games from sales and stuff, but I've always been more of a console and handheld gamer. That might change though, since I'm not too keen on going into the next generation of consoles.

Cherrim March 20th, 2013 10:13 PM

I don't really differentiate between kinds of gaming. It's all the same to me. There are some games that just feel right played on a TV and some that feel right played at a computer desk and others still that feel right played on the bus commute or while lying in bed.

I haven't done much PC gaming in the last year, though, since my computer's been hooked up to the TV acting as a media server for my house. :/ I don't miss it much, I've gotta admit.

Hikamaru March 20th, 2013 10:36 PM

When it comes to what type of gamer I am, I'm more of the video gaming type. I rarely do PC gaming anymore, ever since I gave up on The Sims because I always failed at looking after my Sims properly (yeah I'm such an evil girl lol) not to mention discs always made my computer act like a hothead it always shut down on me.

Plus, I spend most of my gaming time on my Ice Blue DS Lite and my arsenal of Pokemon games, notably Pearl, Platinum, SoulSilver, Black and Black 2. Still have yet to do my White 2 playthrough though but it won't serve as my main version of the B2/W2 duo since I already have Black 2 serving as the main for me of those two. Also, I spend way too much time watching TV and browsing this forum lately.

Starry Windy March 20th, 2013 10:42 PM

Speaking of gaming... I'm more into playing it on DS instead on PC. And my time of gaming has been reduced lately because I'm spending most of my time in this forum.

Aslan March 20th, 2013 10:46 PM

Mm overall I'm mainly DS focused when it comes to gaming although I do have my share of other consoles as well. I've played the Sims quite a bit before and I think I enjoyed creating cities, sending my Sims out Downtown and other places, watching them do hilarious things but then my interest died down a little and now I can't find the disc. :(

As for my DS, I don't stick to one gaming series, generally I try all sorts. I've tried Dragon Quest IX and that was an immensely enjoyable game, also I was bursting into laughter at some of the horrible puns they made with all of the monster's various names. I've tried Final Fantasy and I think it was pretty good although I never got around to finishing it along with Professor Layton, which is brain-busting. ;______;

Eh as for watching TV, I watch around an hour a day that's about it really. I watch the news my parents flick on in the morning and evening and then sometimes watch a Big Bang Theory episode, but generally you'd probably rarely find me sitting on the couch watching TV, I'd most likely just be sitting by the computer or doing something else.

Cherrim March 20th, 2013 10:53 PM

Mm, speaking of spending too much time on forums, I find I don't get as engrossed in PC gaming because it's so much easier to be distracted. I do a lot of things on the computer, mainly web browsing. When I'm PC gaming, I'm already at my computer so it's much easier to be distracted by the other things I do with my computer. Consoles don't have the same functionality--they're pretty much built to do one thing at a time and that thing is essentially just games. So they don't have that whole built-in distraction that computers do. I'll start up a game and then decide to check my email, maybe check PC and get a post or two in... and before I know it, I've completely forgotten that the game is running in the background.

Also, I've never ever played the Sims (any iteration of it) in my entire life. How bad am I missing out? :(

TwilightBlade March 20th, 2013 11:04 PM

Although I'm sure my desktop computer is powerful enough to play some decent games, I just love being able to sit on the futon and play the PS3 (what else is there to do on spring break?!). Console gaming is like, the only reason I own a futon. I gotta have my games... If I had a comfy computer chair, then maybe I be more of a PC gamer.

Cherrim March 20th, 2013 11:24 PM

I hear ya. :D Nothing says relaxation like going into full couch potato mode in front of a console. You just can't get that same feeling at a computer desk.

Aeon. March 21st, 2013 12:36 AM

PC gaming is far less of a headache. With consoles you can get straight to the game, but with a PC, depending on your setup it could be nightmarish. I'm always going to have a soft spot for consoles since there's not much more satisfying coming home from a busy day, plopping on the couch and having every control in your hands. Same with handhelds.

Sir Codin March 21st, 2013 12:42 AM

You can find good ways to get comfy at a computer desk. And really, depending on the genre, keyboard and mouse is a better control scheme to use. Not to mention there's some amazing games on the PC that just plain wouldn't work very well with a controller, EVER. Plus, as Mr. X pointed out, all the modding communities make some really awesome content you can install onto the game and it almost always doesn't cost you a damn thing.

Oh, and getting PC nightmares won't be anywhere near as common if you use "Can You Run It?"

Mm, I will never find a computer desk as comfy as a couch. Typically if I'm getting way too comfortable at my desk, it means my posture is awful so I can't stay that way for long, haha. There are definitely games that are much better on PC (like shooters--I can't stand using controllers for them) but I don't play a whole lot of them and will generally neglect my PC games in favour of games that work well with a controller instead. I'm actually a pretty big fan of Steam's "Big Picture" mode since my computer is hooked up to the TV in the living room right now anyway and it's the only way I can play PC games unless they run on my Mac. (And Macs are not for gaming, I won't even pretend they are.)

"Can You Run It" once told me my netbook would run GTA4. I don't trust it very much, understandably. :P

Rainbow Daaash March 21st, 2013 1:16 AM

I know I wasn't incredibly active here before - but just in case some random muthaf*cka was wondering what happened to that dude with the stunfisk intro and all the face swap images, I've been no - lifing Gears of War Judgement like none other since its release Tuesday. I haven't forgotten or left though :P

Just incredibly dumping time into this game. <3 I love it. Gears franchise has been my sh*t since E-day in like - '06 or 7. Hype for X / Y though - also that Heavy Gear image reminded me of a janky but fun Armored Core game for PS1.

The fact that it's a netbook would probably be it's most limiting factor.

Yeaaah... I was pretty sure the atom netbook with no graphics card and 1GB ram probably wouldn't handle GTA4 very well. Although to be fair I guess I never did try it. Maybe the site was right all along. :P

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 4:54 AM

I'm with Carcharodin on PC gaming. I prefer the controls way more on PC, and some games on PC are only meant for PC :)

Altough they have some games that I prefer on consoles, like fighting games for example. Street Fighter, Naruto and all those kind.

Basically, we learn about the different time periods, styles, as well as the famous artists and and noteworthy works. My class is History of Western Art, Renaissance through Modern Periods.

I've always wanted to give Steam a try, lol.

Seki March 21st, 2013 6:01 AM

Mmm... GTA 4, I played the main game and the other 2 side games (Gay tony and that biker gang) on my cousin's PS3. I actually had to help him complete the missions cos he sucks at it.

Aura Vitae March 21st, 2013 6:07 AM

I much prefer console gaming to PC gaming if only because I don't have to worry about whether the specs of my computer are right to play a certain game or not.

Seki March 21st, 2013 6:13 AM

At the moment, I only have a DS lite and a laptop, so I'd prefer PC gaming. However, my laptop is quite old now (5 years!) and can't run most current games.

Synerjee March 21st, 2013 7:44 AM

I used to play PC games such as GunBound, O2Jam and a little of League of Legends before, but not any more. I also hardly play my DS Lite as classes and assignments are filling up my days. If I do play Pokemon, it'll be on an emulator on my laptop as my DS is not accessible at the moment.

If not PC or DS games, I like playing fighting or racing games on my old PS2 with my brother. Yes, I'm really behind in all the technology advancements with PS3 and XBox 360 out for ages, but I don't mind and it's better than nothing. xD

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 8:10 AM

I still play on my Gamecube sometimes, it's fun :3

Also, I play my DS daily. Pokemon games, ya' know :3

Synerjee March 21st, 2013 8:48 AM

I wish I could play my DS again :c It's been so long since I've laid eyes on it. More than a year methinks. I miss that thing.

I want to play Spyro again! It's those types of games that I like, the ones which you get to move around and attack enemies with powerful abilities and do stuff. :3 I've completed Spyro a gazillion times before, but it never gets old <33

Blade_of_darkness March 21st, 2013 8:57 AM

This is a topic that I can get in. I used to be a PC gamer myself, now I'm an Xbox gamer.

What I'd like to get would be Bioshock Infinite, which comes out in less than a week. Unfortunately, it's very likely that I won't have the money for it until my next paycheck...

Shiny Celebi March 21st, 2013 9:33 AM

I dont play games on the computer at all. Im a handheld game kind of person and even then only Nintendo.

Mr. X March 21st, 2013 10:00 AM

CRYI isn't that accurate. For a lot of games it is. I can't remember the specific games, but a few times it told me that a game wouldn't work at all on my computer, yet it ended up running just fine.

I've been thinking of doing another playthrough of Infinite Space. Still - Not sure what I could do differently from other playthroughs. Besides using different ships or module setups, nothing different I really could do. My usual setup is a battleship forward (Flagship), two combat cruisers center, one carrier/cruiser or destroyer center, and a carrier rear.

Anyway, I've been spending most of my time playing Sins of a Solar Empire. One of the best games ever. Even better - using the 7DS mod for it. It adds many more factions to the game. The Empire is one of them.

Edit - Here's the intro for Soase Rebellion

Sir Codin March 21st, 2013 12:46 PM

Can You Run It isn't very reliable when it comes to HOW WELL the game will run on you comp, but it's useful for getting something of an idea on whether or not the game will even run on the comp. It does have a few problems that need to be fixed, though.

It's not always accurate, but it hasn't royally screwed me over. Yet.

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 12:49 PM

I prefer shooters and action. How to verify your specs btw?

Sir Codin March 21st, 2013 2:38 PM

Well, Can You Run It usually tells you what your specs are whenever you run it against a game in their database. You can also go onto Computer, then check System Properties to see your comp's performance rating.

As per recommendations, based on your preferences:

- System Shock 2 (can be found at GoG.com)
- Fallout: New Vegas (Action RPG/Shooter); I also recommend the old Fallout games, they aren't shooters, but they're damn fine RPGs
- Quake series
- Doom series
- Half-Life 2
- Bioshock
- Left 4 Dead 2

Mr. X March 21st, 2013 2:39 PM

Click start, all programs, accessories, run, type in dxdiag hit enter.

On first page, processor and memory. On display, the video card name.

Here are my system specs...

And my graphics specs

My rating is 4.6. Are these any good?

Mr. X March 21st, 2013 2:58 PM

The video card is weak. The processor could be better. Ram is good.

Starwars Battlefront II
Starwars Republic Commando
Delta Force Land Warrior
Battlezone II Combat Commander
Quake 4
Supreme Commander
F.E.A.R (+ Expansions Perseus Mandate and Extraction Point)
Megaman X4/X5 (The PC version would be hard-ish to find though.)
Dark Horizon
Darkstar One
Tachyon: The Fringe
Counter Strike: Source
Robot Arena II
Heavy Gear II (Pain in the ass to get working on 7 though.)

I'm not sure if these would run with that video card. The above ones should.
F.E.A.R II
F.3.A.R
Deus Ex Human Revolution
Mass Effect 2

Sir Codin March 21st, 2013 3:09 PM

Yeah! My last game I went 2/2/24 as a support so I think I did pretty well :3 To be fair I had great teammates (except for one that I had to explain what CS was to...) but I'm actually reasonably skilled I think now. Only played like 100 games though, maybe less XD

I don't play any of those games, tbh. I don't even play Pokemon much anymore, and that was really the only video game I played seriously.

Excuse my having been so inactive today. I'm still sick, but was doing well enough to attend those classes earlier today, so that took up quite a bit of my time haha. On the upside, someone from there has somehow gone from making his dislike of me very obvious- to actually being particularly friendly. After I managed to get through the crowd into the hallway, I found that he was standing there, waiting to walk to the next class with me. I don't know what's up with that. :?

Nathan March 21st, 2013 4:37 PM

Hello Jessy-hun! Maybe he wants to get on your good side or he wants to trap you? Be careful and investigate :)
Is LoL paying Toujie?

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 4:47 PM

LoL is completely free for download and play, JNathan. You could use some real money for in-game stuffs tho like new champions and nice skins. But aside that, you got the same thing as everyone.

Aww... I wanna start playing LoL with you, honeybunny :[

Shiny Gyarados, are you feeling better now?

Nathan March 21st, 2013 4:52 PM

What kind of games is it and how do you play it?

Sableye~ March 21st, 2013 4:57 PM

Pfft, Nathan, do you expect me to read his mind?
Haha I won't see him for a few months, anyway. He sent a friend request on Facebook, though, so I might end up talking to him on there.

@Jz
At the moment- yeah. [:
Earlier today, though, I was pretty much a zombie. I was just wandering around the house because I was too tired to really do anything haha. I'm hoping that it'll wear off, though, considering I have a party to go to later this month. Hopefully this one will be as interesting as the last. Considering it will be a combination of my family (and a few friends) and alcohol, it probably will.

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 4:58 PM

You already played Warcraft or Defense of the Ancients?

Nathan March 21st, 2013 5:09 PM

No, sadly :(
@Jess so you will graduate or he got kicked out or is it school break?
Yup, i am a curious boy.

It was about 1,500 GBP when I built it, although half the RAM, the HDD and one of the GFX cards came from my previous rig.

It sounds like a lot, but it runs minesweeper like you wouldn't believe.

Nathan March 21st, 2013 5:18 PM

I worship you Somniac! Receive my praises!

Honest March 21st, 2013 5:20 PM

Eight pages late, and it's only a day. Wut

The title of this thread is such bull. Today was the coldest it's been in a long time. :c

And Nathan, you all bow to the fabulous Deadpool. And only the fabulous Deadpool.

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 5:20 PM

That's a very good PC, Somniac. But not enough to get me to bow down before you ;P

Nathan March 21st, 2013 5:25 PM

You should bow to Madara Uchiha in fact. He is definitely better than Deadpool only if you watched Naruto but still...

Sableye~ March 21st, 2013 5:25 PM

@Nathan
It isn't actually a school. Just some classes. It's a break kind of thing, but I can't remember when it starts again haha. I'll find out eventually. I'm looking forward to actually knowing what I'm doing in the one class. It also is just really entertaining; you know it's a great class when someone uses the word "Crackijuana". [:

@Somniac
I don't quite know how to reply to that haha. I haven't even known him for long, and not willing to seek out any kind of relationship with him, tbh.

I won't be around much tomorrow, by the way. Lots of stuff to do, so I'll be too busy to be lurking on the internet for long.

Caelus March 21st, 2013 5:29 PM

Haven't posted in the DCC in days.

For real. It was freezing today. Just when it gets warm it goes below freezing the next day.

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 5:29 PM

Wolverine, Hulk, Spider-Man > Deadpool! ;D

Honest March 21st, 2013 5:30 PM

Please, Deadpool would wipe the floor with all three of those with only his words.

And no Live. Batman does not compare to Deadpool.

Your praise gives me sustenance. :D

Captain Gizmo March 21st, 2013 5:37 PM

Deadpool might be a smooth talker, but they're far more superior than him in combat! ;D

Honest March 21st, 2013 5:39 PM

Spiderman: Web out of his arms and somewhat superstrength
Hulk: Big green meat all over
Wolverine: Regenerative abilities and adamantium claws.

Deadpool: Regenerative abilities, twin katanas, and twin machine guns.

Deadpool is God, in other words.
