Rojo and Shaw weren't exactly cheap.

Was going to sleep now but apparently we got a feature on the FL show.

Someone's going to lose their first place in the FPL next week >:)

Norwich fans literally bursting into a chorus of hallelujah when the ref awarded Norwich a freekick an hour in. Anyway perfect bus parking from Charlton.

VeranithasVI September 30th, 2014 1:32 PM

Well, I wouldn't say that we're learning that. Van Gaal knew that he needed to strengthen our defensive ranks, but he brought Rojo in and is very much trying to focus on bringing the youth team up and integrate them into the defence. I do understand that 'the best offence is a good defence', but with United, that's not really the case considering that we have the fire power up front, and to be honest after our last game against West Ham, I'm not so sure that we are lacking too badly in defence.

The goal was 100% de Gea's fault, he shouldn't have ran so far off the line for the ball during that corner, it was ridiculous. There were some very good clearances, McNair's header was absolutely amazing (not too mention pivotal) and Luke Shaw crossing over with di Maria was fantastic to watch. If anything, I think that our midfield and up front display suffered a lot more after Rooney was sent off.

Not looking forward to the next three games without him, though. We'll miss our captain, especially with Hererra gone in midfield with a fractured rib (I think that was it). He was easily one of the best players on the pitch last week.

tittlemouse October 1st, 2014 8:07 AM

After losing 3-0 to Arsenal and 3-0 to Chelsea it gets easier for us now only Man City up next
Hoping we can nab something out of the game since we beat them at Villa Park last season

Real's in Bulgaria now. As much as I dislike them, I'd love to see them win against Ludogorets. <3

Couple of Holty assists in that Huddersfield win over Wolves. Fantastic.

Hmmph. Wolves needed that win. Still too close from 1st to 8th - anyone could win.

The dropped points do matter though. If Wolves end up 3rd because of dropping points like this then they'd have these matches to blame. Huddersfield, Rotherham... They could have been top with some gap to spare.

Weeaboo Name October 2nd, 2014 3:36 AM

Everybody drops points against lesser teams, I mean Norwich have dropped 7 against Charlton, Bournmouth and Charlton in the last 3 home games.

As for Wolves, they are a decent side but their squad is pretty thin. Would be surprised if they kept up their early season form all season.

You're talking about the 1st to 8th places in the championship, and here's where I end up bottom of the league. Not even a win to Blackpool's name. A few goals and other things, but not a win in about 9-10 games. Only think Blackpool are doing is fighting relegation. Oyston needs to go, though.

Certainly not looking good for Blackpool, although you can take heart from the fact you aren't getting rolled over every week. You can't have been expecting much after that squad was thrown together in a couple of weeks.

Eruption October 2nd, 2014 5:33 AM

Well the Balotelli problems begin, he seems lazy and disinterested in some games and DM (highly reputable I know) are saying he refused to applaud the travelling fans for a second time.

Not to mention they took a point from the almighty fortress that is the Riverside. seriously why are we so bad at home

Are teams parking the bus the Riverside? They all are at Carra Rud.

I haven't seen any of our matches this season unfortunately so I wouldn't know, but based on the amount of teams that parked the bus in previous seasons when we weren't even good I'll go with yes.

That Blackpool heart. I it wouldn't take long for them to get that win with the performance they put in against us last weekend.

Rotherham tomorrow, hopefully we get a backlash after the Charlton loss.

I'm really ecstatic over Blackpool's win last night over Cardiff... it means so much. Francois Zoko got the only goal of the game, but a win's a win. :D

Aeroblast October 4th, 2014 3:21 PM

Blackpool FC for their deep troubles is actually not doing that badly I'd say. Certainly better than Fulham that was managed by the joker that is Felix Magath.

Xabi Alonso has been brilliant for Bayern so far, he was the key to ending our dodgy run of form that continued from the end of last season and made me forget about letting go of Kroos.

Banz October 4th, 2014 9:24 PM

Much better performance yesterday. Stupid penalty conceded but we look very good while attacking. Mario impressed me with his link-up play... very rarely does a lone striker impress without taking proper shots on goal.

Just as we start playing well there's this stupid international break to spoil the fun. All this international football needs to be banned between August and May. Or maybe ban it altogether.

Weeaboo Name October 5th, 2014 5:14 AM

It happened again. Points dropped at home even after smashing them for 90 minutes.

Expect Forest will beat Ipswich meaning that we'll go into the international break second.

tittlemouse October 8th, 2014 2:39 AM

I see we face San Marino tomorrow why on earth is there no pre-qualifying for sides like this....... these games are litreally pointless

Banz October 8th, 2014 8:51 AM

Why do national teams even exist? All those games are pointless.

Dreg October 8th, 2014 1:57 PM

I'm probably gonna guess 7-0 for the England - San Marino game. But yeah, the lowest ranked teams should face each other for a place in the qualifiers... the OFC and CONCACAF do it.

Weeaboo Name October 8th, 2014 2:09 PM

International football should be great but in the modern climate it just isn't. Well, at least it is more enjoyable than modern day European cup football.

Eruption October 10th, 2014 5:14 AM

I haven't checked the FPL since it started and my team was predictably in a terrible state. Half the team injured, Remy in first XI etc.

It would be good if they worked out a way to sort out qualifying in the summer, I don't think many people enjoy international breaks especially when it's to face teams like San Marino.

Banz October 10th, 2014 6:39 PM

There are way too many international breaks. They're just too frequent. It's been 2 months since the Premier League started and we've only played 7 matches - and 2 international breaks.
They could instead have 2 longer international breaks per season with 3-4 qualification matches each. Rest of the qualification matches take place between May and August. Clubs usually waste that time playing pointless friendlies in USA, Australia and what not anyway.

At the moment we're having a 2 week break after every 3 league matches, which is extremely annoying.

Aeroblast October 12th, 2014 2:47 PM

Well, there are 5 international breaks: March, (early) June, September, October, and November.

I wish it was more spread out like so: September, November, (early) January, March, and (early) June.

Dreg October 14th, 2014 3:48 AM

I somehow KNEW that Iceland would beat Holland as they have been flying as of late. And Croatia winning 6-0 over Azerbaijan. Doesn't get much better than that. I hope Iceland do make the finals, they deserve it.

What tournament is that?

Interesting to see all the sudden outrage at ticket prices just because BBC published some figures. I mean it's been this way for years, I'm sure anyone it really concerns already knew. It's cool to see the average Championship ticket prices went down though, maybe a case of some historically big teams finally accepting their places but I doubt it. That said Derby & Sheff Wed had the two cheapest so maybe that is the case.

Weeaboo Name October 15th, 2014 5:39 PM

It is what seems to be a very hastily thrown together under 21s competition called the Premier League International Cup. It was supposed to be the top 8 sides from the previous year's u21 premier league but Liverpool decided they didn't want to compete. Then there was some problem with Uefa in regards to playing overseas, the Premier League's solution was to get all of the games to be played over here. Apparently that took too long to sort out so Southampton and Manchester United withdrew. For Norwich, Everton and West Ham those withdrawals were pretty lucky. When I initially read about EPPP this is the sort of thing I was expecting.

I saw those articles. Norwich were worst value per goal scored, what a shocker.

VeranithasVI October 15th, 2014 7:20 PM

EPL is back in action this weekend! Manchester United (my team for twelve years, despite our recent... setback...) take on West Bromwich Albion, and that's the ONLY fixture I'm currently aware of. Then we play Chelsea next week.

Anyone else really keen for the EPL to start back up again, after the recent wave of international matches? And speaking of, did anybody manage to catch any of the international matches? I only follow international football via blogs and news reports online, so I'm not sure if any of the matches were any good. Specifically England and Holland (they didn't play against each other but both had games respectively).

Banz October 15th, 2014 7:26 PM

There's still 56 hours and 19 minutes left for the City-Spuds kickoff.

Weeaboo Name October 15th, 2014 7:31 PM

Both of the England games were pretty terrible.

I wish I had watched Kyle Lafferty's Northern Ireland tbh.

VeranithasVI October 15th, 2014 7:47 PM

Aw that sucks. How was Rooney? We'll miss him during the Chelsea game and, with the way we're playing recently, possibly in the WBA game.

City v Spurs should be a good one. I'm interested in watching Burnley v West Ham tbh. My home town of Burnley aren't doing to well and West Ham are having a blinder of a season. Should be good.

United v WBA isn't til Tuesday 6am Australian time. Not even going to be able to watch it live. AND our game against Chelsea is the following Monday at 3am. -_-

Weeaboo Name October 15th, 2014 8:29 PM

Rooney was pretty much a passenger. He scored a pen and a free kick but didn't do much else. He missed a lot of one on one opportunities. If he didn't play for Utd he would have probably been dropped.

VeranithasVI October 15th, 2014 8:34 PM

And the fact that he's currently the Captain, that makes it rather hard to drop him. ;]

Missing one-on-one chances is a no-go I'll admit, but I've resigned to thinking of Rooney as more of a central attacking midfielder now, holding the ball and playing passes where necessary, etc. For a forward his defense game is immense, too.

I sound like I'm on some form of Rooney bandwagon, but I'm not. I can concede to him having bad games. I just think he's an all round brilliant player. Irrational, but brilliant.

Weeaboo Name October 15th, 2014 8:48 PM

Thread is broken, don't use quick post anymore.

Seems as if he is only captain on reputation as well. For me it would be captain Henderson, probably.

On recent performances Rooney would probably be my 3rd or 4th choice forward. You are right that he better behind the striker, in that position he would probably be 1st or second choice.

We have to play the diamond with Wilshire out of position and a 19 year old at the tip because MUH NEW IDENTITY. Funny we are playing this formation even though our fullbacks can hardly attack, striker can't finish and well, Wilshire will not perform in this position against good sides.

My preferred England 11 would be rather different to what we are getting right now.

Weeaboo Name October 15th, 2014 10:08 PM

Here we go, I fixed England.

http://i.imgur.com/ohnFZf8.png

Or maybe Crouch for Carroll. Barton would be player-coach.

Eruption October 16th, 2014 4:47 AM

Any team with Wilshere or Carroll potentially in it doesn't sound like a fix to me. :P

My team would be radically different especially now the qualifying group is so easy, but of course we're seen as being experimental just with one or two youngsters on nevermind half the team. Lets face it, we should still beat San Marino with Wickham, Will Hughes, Butland, Ben Gibson, Jordon Ibe, Redmond, Grealish (if we make him betray Ireland) etc. playing so why not do it?

Maybe have Crouchinho in there for desperate situations so we can rely on his great scoring record against pub sides.

Weeaboo Name October 16th, 2014 9:07 AM

If we could get Arsenal Wilshire it wouldn't be a problem. Picked Carroll because muh options, with those wingers we could get a lot of balls into the box.

I wouldn't go full yoof even with the easy qualifying, in that respect I agree with what Woy is doing now. Going with the shape and personnel he wants to use in France. Shame he hs gotten the shape and personnel wrong really.

Aeroblast October 17th, 2014 8:02 AM

Us losing today was a given.

Adams seems to have a weird urge to play player out of position. This week it is Grabban and Martin. At lest it isn't Wes though, I suppose.

At least Ipswich and Wolves blew their leads, I suppose.

We're on equal points now. Matic (2 points) will come of the bench for you and Bardsley (1 point) for me. I've got only Berahino left and you have Falcao (captain).
I don't think I'll go top this week... maybe next week. Or the one after that. Or the one after that.
Or the one after that.

Eruption October 20th, 2014 6:37 AM

I have the most points this gameweek so far so hopefully this means my changes will slowly get me up the table. I'll probably have to be reminded about it again to make a change in a few weeks though.

Is anyone else more surprised by the fact that Taarabt is being paid £70k a week rather than the claim that he's hugely overweight? Even in QPR's skewed wage structure, he has never been near good enough for that amount.

Weeaboo Name October 20th, 2014 5:10 PM

Looks like my United players have failed me. Time for a change.

Regarding Taarabt, I wouldn't be surprised if both of those figures 'arry stated are blown out of proportion somewhat. Football wise I can't imagine there are many more frustrating players than Adel Taarabt, and for a struggling team in the Premier League it is hard to find a position for him. Unless his comments were meant as a kick up the backside I think they were pretty silly, they would certainly hurt resale value.

Leeds at home for us tonight, weird seeing their fans trying to force some sort of rivalry. I guess if I was the fan of a MASSIVE club and little old Norwich repeatedly took our best players I'd be a little annoyed but still. Suppose it is less embarrassing than our lot trying to force a thing with Villa over the Lambert situation.

Eruption October 20th, 2014 9:29 PM

Everyone tries to force something with everyone else in this league it seems though. If I hear or see the term 'Yorkshire derby' one more time relating to a Boro match, I might just kill myself. Notts Forest seem to be the worst on Twitter though, there's a specific group who seem to try to start some sort of rivalry with every team in the league when most of the time it makes no sense.

VeranithasVI October 21st, 2014 7:19 AM

United players with the exception of Angel di Maria will constantly fail you. It's what we've been doing for two seasons now.

2-2 against WBA. Dreading the Chelsea game, but fingers crossed...

Weeaboo Name October 21st, 2014 5:00 PM

A bit disappointing to throw away a lead against another team near the top of the league, but apparently we were pretty lucky to be ahead anyway. Either way it seems you're allowed to drop points a lot this season so it's all good.

As for the Leeds situation, that is ridiculous. I like how even Hockaday managed better though. Hopefully Leeds are in L1 next year anyway.

Riga being sacked was inevitable, but he gets a nice payoff I imagine and it adds more fuel to the 'Oyston out' fire so it isn't all bad I guess.

Aeroblast October 30th, 2014 4:22 PM

To be fair the only thing Riga did wrong was to walk into that catastrophic mess in the first place.

tittlemouse October 31st, 2014 8:30 AM

Absolutely fantastic week, went to the Bournemouth game against West Brom fantastic ending. From thinking it was thrown away to absolute scenes just seconds later as the winner was scored.

Actually think Bournemouth are in with a chance of promotion this season the squad is phenominal and they are on fire right now. Eddie Howe should win manager of the month but then again hes only won it once before.

Before anyone asked I support Bournemouth (home team and always lived here) and Aston Villa (90% of family are fans so its passed down)

Weeaboo Name October 31st, 2014 12:47 PM

I don't think the Bournemouth squad is deep enough to really challenge for promotion. They are easily one of the best footballing teams in the Champs though and I think they'll continue to improve under Howe.

Finally, a home win. Much needed confidence boost going into away games at Forest and Boro next week.

2nd in the Championship now after beating Brighton 3-2, sure the win was not deserved but a great sign of a team is winning when playing poor. If Bournemouth will ever reach the Premier League its going to be this season.

Eruption November 1st, 2014 3:33 PM

Much crazier things have happened in the past than Bournemouth potentially getting promoted and pretty much everyone in the top half has a chance of promotion for now at least.

We have Norwich & Bournemouth this week, this should be an interesting thread no doubt. It's sad we could drop from 3rd to god knows where if those two games go south though. Hopefully we'll come out of it okay.

Pardew has really dug his way out of a pretty large hole this past week.

Dreg November 2nd, 2014 3:31 AM

Pardew has indeed dug himself out of a hole. I thought that Man City would have destroyed them at the Etihad on Wednesday night, but I was wrong.

I know they say "support your team to the very end" but I'm not going to with the way Blackpool have been as of late. In fact, I'm gonna stop supporting them and move onto a different team completely, until they get out of this horrible mess that they have got themselves into.

Football is like that just 6 seasons ago Bournemouth started League 2 with -17 Points scrapping for our survival in the Football League throughout that season, a squad so thin that we could not even name a full subs bench at times. And here we are 6 seasons later knocking on the door of the Premier League.

Weeaboo Name November 2nd, 2014 10:29 AM

Other than the stuff leading up to and the relegation to league one the last 20 years have been pretty drama free at Norwich. Couldn't even imagine stopping supporting them because of some off the field stuff though, let alone moving on to another team.

Dreg November 2nd, 2014 10:48 AM

If there's one thing I hate the most, it's the word "crisis" mentioned, which makes we want to move elsewhere. I understand it would be a scrap for survival... thing is, not gonna bother supporting them until Oyston is out. Still undecided on who I'm gonna follow next.

I can understand why Blackpool fans have stopped supporting their team to be honest, it's being milked for profit, will continue to be for the forseeable future and the likelihood of anything positive happening anytime soon is unlikely. My girlfriend's father is from Blackpool and while he still would identify as a Blackpool fan, he has lost a bit of interest and pays a bit of attention to Fleetwood now just to have a local team that are doing well. The best thing would of course be if Oyston left, but failing that it would be nice to see an AFC Blackpool set up.

The only off field drama we've had would have resulted in people supporting other teams since we were nearly liquidated, but that has been used as a force for good ever since with a stable and supportive chairman who has nearly been investing in us consistently for thirty years now.

Adams on tonight's game.

Would not mind seeing a draw in that game with a Bournemouth win tonight but if a side must win rather Middlesbrough win it, then the real test is at the weekend.

Just taken a look at the lineups, this game has goals in it. Not that this is unexpected.

So, I've made my mind up eventually... My parents told me that the young age of 1 that I had a liking to Blackburn Rovers, so I might as well go with them. They're not doing too bad at the minute, just outside of the playoffs, and a 3-1 win over Reading... really good.

Not a good first half in this game. For me.

It's really not looking good for Norwich at all. Their manager had better get them all seen to at half time, providing they don't concede any more goals.

Also, Blackburn 1-0 up through Shane Duffy. :D

The glimmer of hope is the fact that we have been bad in a lot of first halves and turned it on in the second in most games this season. Of course we haven't been 2 - 0 down at any in form sides. Just Cardiff, which we turned from 2 - 0 to 4 - 2.

Not expecting anything now though.

I don't believe this. 10 man Millwall equalized after being 2-0 down. Really disgusted at this result. 2 points lost.

At least this has to be the end of Whittaker and Martin playing in the same side, right?

You are the one at fault for picking Rovers. They will always disappoint.

GEEZ WHAT happened to Norwich tonight losing 4-0..... AND Birmingham beating Watford.

Bournemouth ended up 2-0 winners to make it 6 wins in a row and up to the top of the Championship but seeing how Middlesbrough played tonight think we will lose at the weekend, I would bite your hand off for a draw.

Lots of individual errors, including a bad one from Ruddy. A bit of a dodgy penalty, I think. Our manager likes his right back at center back and one of his big strikers on the wing. He signed 3 new centerbacks but doesn't seem to want to use any of them.

That and Boro played well. Still, most of the goals were very avoidable.

This recent form is what I was expecting when we hired Adams. Midtable here we come.

Yup.
