Eruption November 5th, 2014 12:14 AM

Well that was certainly unexpected.

What a result and two goals for Leadbitter puts him straight back among the top scorers after not scoring for a while. It's watching matches like this unfold which make me impatient in relation to getting back through those Riverside turnstiles. Hopefully I can go to some games over the Christmas period. Then again if these are the results we get when I don't turn up maybe I was bad luck all along.

I would say if I were in charge at Norwich now then Adams would need to be considered over the next three games. Of course it doesn't look like he is doing too badly right now, but if there is just that feeling that he isn't then right manager then his position should probably be considered. If you drag your feet when sacking the manager in this league then you tend to stay down. We'll skip over the fact that I support a team that has been stuck here for years after sacking an inexperienced manager who was doing a reasonable job early on in the season.

Based on how Boro form usually works, I would expect a win against Bournemouth followed by a small run of bad form, a little recovery over christmas and then complete capitulation in 2015.

tittlemouse November 5th, 2014 3:07 AM

Well top spot right now just seems cursed every time a side hits the top they go on a run of losing matches so not sure you will want to beat us.....
Lets just take a 1-1 draw and pass the curse on the Derby ;)

Not looking forward to playing Middlesbrough really think were going to lose because this run has to end sometime

Not as disappointing as Norwich were last night. I'll take a 2-2 over a 4-0 beating any day.

Really surprising to see Anderlecht come from 3-0 down to equalise 3-3. I think at 3-0 down the draw was around the 50-1 mark.

Man City v CSKA Moscow tonight. I'm going for a 2-1 win for CSKA. Man City just don't prove their worth in the Champions League, so I feel CSKA will take advantage of that.

Aeroblast November 5th, 2014 9:47 AM

I'd take any sort of scrappy win against Roma to get us through to the last 16. The 7-1 was an anomaly.

tittlemouse November 5th, 2014 11:38 AM

Got the City vs CSKA game on I think City will win 2-0
In the other games Bayern will win 2-0, fancy Ajax to get something vs Barca, Chelsea will win 3-0

Lol, guess who was right? CSKA win 2-1! I would have loved to have seen 3-1 after City were reduced to 9 men. I told you, City just don't have what it takes in the Champions League!

I only got one game correct, thank goodness I don't bet on football matches. The ref was shocking tonight mind don't think he will ref a Champions League match again. City litreally fell apart but I guess thats what happen when you try to buy the Champions League none of your players really care for the club.

Eruption November 5th, 2014 5:15 PM

There just seems to be a mental block in the City dressing room when it comes to Europe. I'm sure players like Kompany & Hart definitely care about the club and I would bet long term players like Silva, Nasri, Dzeko, Aguero, Kolarov etc. would have some interest in seeing them do well too, but they just don't seem cut out for it despite clearly having enough talent.

There's still a small chance they'll progress anyway, but as you both say there's a major problem there.

Aeroblast November 5th, 2014 6:14 PM

Even if Manchester City do progress to the last 16 by some miracle they'll meet some club like Real Madrid and be promptly knocked out.

The only chance they'll win a European silverware is if they get knockd down to Europa League and win that.

Banz November 7th, 2014 12:26 AM

Is Sturridge fit yet? Actually I'd rather have him remain unfit and take his time until the 22nd instead of going to the Euro Circus auditions and getting injured there.

Point gained with a 0-0 draw against Boro no longer top of the league but would of taken a draw any day, still in the automatic spots (probably not for long)

Starting to think if Southampton keep going they could actually make the Champions League..... Man City

A point is far from what we wanted against Bournemouth, but it's far better than a demoralising loss I guess. I just hope the second half of the season slide isn't inevitable this year.

If only managers accepted being moved down in role these days, you could indeed dream.

I haven't played 2015 yet, but I think Edgar Davids' virtual form is going to start feeling a lot less unique.

Weeaboo Name November 11th, 2014 8:55 AM

Regens even take part in 'movember' nowadays. Truly the greatest addition to the franchise yet.

On the topic of games, I think it was me ahead by 48 in FF. Not sure how this is even happening, I'm always bottom third in these things.

Eruption November 11th, 2014 4:47 PM

I can only imagine Movember making them look even more weird, but it's a nice touch.

It seems I've clawed my way up to 4th, I've played my wildcard and made eight changes in the hope of accelerating my catch up.

Dreg November 14th, 2014 3:24 PM

Greece beaten by the Faroe Islands at home. How embarassing for Greece. XD

Also, no other surprises happened tonight.

tittlemouse November 15th, 2014 3:16 AM

Was hoping Ireland could beat Scotland last night, tonight comes our turn against Slovenia should win this game by a couple of goals so probably a scrappy 1-0

...... But im really missing league football the top of the league is gripping

It's that kind of time were I invest my sports following time into basketball or formula one (but there's no race this week so not formula one this time).

Oh, merciful god, please intervene and end these international breaks.

Ladies and gentlemen, it has finally happened. Beware, for soon blood will fall from the sky and all firstborn children will be slaughtered by an army of angels. Faroe Islands won an official qualification match, away, against a former European champion.

Truly a sign of the end of times. I am still in shock.

Italy v Croatia tonight. Hope Croatia have some confidence after losing to Argentina 2-1 in a friendly. Could probably see this as being a draw on the cards, but still, a draw is better than a loss.

I really don't understand why Wigan would appoint Mackay. I'm sure there's someone competent out there who doesn't have the controversy that comes with him. Although based on Whelan's comments maybe he's just morally bankrupt as well. Oh well hopefully everything works out badly on and off the pitch starting with our visit there on Saturday.

Weeaboo Name November 21st, 2014 9:24 AM

Apparently most of the texts came from Moody's phone. I believe it was only the ''fkn chinkys'' and ''moneygrabbing jew'' comments which actually came from Malky. Now I know he shouldn't have these things at all but I don't think they should force his retirement over it. Luckily for him those in charge probably laughed off those comments.

Whelan is a hard nosed businessman and he has most probably gotten himself a bargain.

Oh yeah, Mike Phelan joined Norwich as coach. At least he has some real experience.

DRCM November 23rd, 2014 9:59 PM

I support Liverpool, even though I live in Australia. The A-League is boring. The players are terrible and it's generally no fun to watch.

The EPL/BPL however, is nice. Liverpool not being in the top 10 is not nice. Liverpool losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace last night was not nice. God help us.

STOKE CITY. If Rodgers loses here I'm going into the city and campaigning for his removal on the streets. There's always a lot of protest things going on in Liverpool so I want my part of the action.

Weeaboo Name November 29th, 2014 4:37 AM

Welbeck left United and said goodbye to winning big trophies so he could play up front. Now isn't playing up front and won't until Giroud is injured.

Should give Brenny the rest of this season and the first half of next. He, and Liverpool ****ed up with the summer reshaping of the squad, should give him another go.

Of course I want Adams gone before the end of the year if we keep up this form though.

Weeaboo Name November 29th, 2014 10:36 AM

lol

well that was something.

Eruption December 3rd, 2014 7:20 AM

Just realised I hadn't checked this in quite a few days. It isn't looking good for Norwich at the moment, but I guess with how close the league is it barely makes a difference.

It seems likely Karanka will be banned from the touchline for our next game and for some reason we've sacked the assistant so someone who might know nothing about the squad, club etc. might be in charge at the weekend.

Weeaboo Name December 5th, 2014 6:11 AM

So Danny Welbeck has made quite the career change since moving to London. As you might remember he worked in Tesco up in Manchester. Now he raps.

Weeaboo Name December 6th, 2014 7:59 AM

Our pass the ball sideways really slowly and drop 2 of our better players approach seems to be working. Adams is a genius.

Of course there will be some spaghetti defending in the second half and we'll blow it.

Arsenal. wowow

Eruption December 12th, 2014 4:26 PM

I'm really dropping the ball in terms of checking this recently.

Another chance for us to go top if arguably our best manager ever Steve McClaren lets us tomorrow. Unfortunately our current Spanish wonder manager won't be at the helm.

I think we're on tv at 12 so check us out if you're not busy. :P

Weeaboo Name December 12th, 2014 4:54 PM

After one win in ten from the end of September 'til the end of November it sure feels surreal that we could go into the Christmas fixtures in the top 6. Huddersfield at home tomorrow and then Derby away before those games.

Should be an interesting game tomorrow, with Grant Holt coming home and all.

Last time I watched Boro I didn't enjoy it much.

Eruption December 12th, 2014 7:24 PM

The only time I've seen us this season was against Leeds and we lost so me neither.

Hopefully we can knock Derby's morale down before you visit then.

Weeaboo Name December 13th, 2014 8:56 AM

Well that was a pretty good second half.

tittlemouse December 13th, 2014 10:05 AM

Thought that game was going to be thrown away since everytime we took a 2 goal lead Cardiff replied, always nice to know we can score 5 goals with 5 different scorers mind but our defense seriously needs looking at if we are to challange for the rest of the season.
For now approaching the half way point in the season and we sit top of the Championship with 1 point seperating us from 4th and maybe set for an epic ending to this season

A good day for everyone then in relation to football. That must be a big confidence boost for both of your sides, scoring five against a team like Cardiff and scoring five after a bad run with Adams.

I think I'd be happy with five points in the remaining three games to finish the year even though that would knock us down a few places I imagine.

Scoring five is never a bad thing expecially given Cardiff were in the Premier League just last season with out next match being Blackpool I think we should be top of the league at christmas but before that we have a little home game against Liverpool in our first cup quater final.

To be honest think we are going to give Liverpool one of their hardest matches of their season on fire and unbeaten in 13 matches, last year wasn't on this form and gave them a real good match.

Weeaboo Name December 14th, 2014 6:12 AM

Wonder how much of the last two games has been down to Phelan, we've certainly been far more solid off the ball.

Next up Derby away, that'll be a real test of this new found confidence. Then home against Millwall and away to Reading to finish the year. Good result at Derby could be massive.

I agree very lucky against Boro at that was at Anfield, I am probably more confident than I should be mind but that says it all. Bournemouth being able to beat Liverpool in a cup 1/4 final shows how far we have come and seems unreal just saying it.

If we win drawing Southampton in the semis would just be perfect and 2 excellent matches

Although I am hearing Eddie Howe might make changes to our lineup for the match probably the same team that beat West Brom our 2nd squad

I'm interested to see how the non league teams will get on in the FA cup. Best of luck to all of them; I'm hoping for a few surprises because it will give the minnows a lot of money should they progress far enough. I mean, look at what happened to Bradford in the Capital One Cup final against Swansea... They gained promotion that year as well.

4 out of 5 of Derby's next games are on Sky. Which makes 5 out of 6 if you include last Saturday's.

Only 1 of our next 7 matches are on Sky, surpising considering we are top of the league and playing lovely football that puts most Premiership sides to shame, but I guess not being on Sky allows us to sneak along un-noticed for a little longer.

I bet our match on 10th Feb will probably be on Sky

tittlemouse December 21st, 2014 3:48 PM

For the 1st time in our history we are top of the Football League at Christmas and looking back on the past 5 seasons the side top at Christmas has gone on to win promotion at the seasons end. The team in 2nd has won promotion 4/5 seasons. The team in 3rd has gone on to win promotion only twice ironically the last 2 season both via play-offs.

To think we have scored FIFTY goals before Christmas after just 22 games heck we have 33 goals in like our last 10 matches reminds me of Liverpool a little bit last season (hopefully not the same ending mind)

Dreg December 21st, 2014 6:43 PM

Bournemouth have really played well this season, and I'd love to see them in the premier league next season for the first time in their history. With the way they have been playing it looks to be on the cards.

Blackburn is sitting in a respectable 8th at the minute, which isn't bad. They need to pick their game up just a little bit and hopefully some good results will come our way.

Still probably find City, Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Liverpool will be the TV game picks

You should watch out for Benteke. (unless he has some new injury I'm not aware of)

If He's still Villa player when we play them but this being the highest scorers in the English leagues against the lowest scorers surely can only go one way

So, suddenly Alex Neil's name is all over in regards to the Norwich job. Apparently he's been in charche of Hamilton Athletic for a year and a half, he has won promotion and are currently a few points off Celtic. It seems the keep the ball on the deck and play.

His odds went from 33/1to 11/8 in 2 hours.

Can't say I know the guy but I like that he has no link to the club as a player.

Confirmed.

I will say that this appointment feels more like the ones of Lambert and Hughton, it certainly doesn't feel like a last roll of the die Adams one. YOUNG AND HUNGRY buzzwords in the announcement aside I'm much happier with this than I would have been with the job being given to Phelan.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Bassong now, we'll see if his problem was with just Adams or somebody higher up. I'd like to think we'd be willing to give our best defender and POTS winner another chance. If he isn't I guess I'll be off to Brighton for peanuts.

Also, you might remember me posting the forum reaction when Adams got the job full time. Totally different this time around.

Well he can wait until next week for his first points as he's not getting anything tomorrow :D

Should be an interesting game, Neil won't really have had an impact on selection and tactics though. Hopefully his presence alone will fire them up.

Also despite the fact he's been in indifferent form recently I really hope we start Grabban tomorrow.

Why can I see us totally bossing the game but somehow your keeper keeps us out for Grabban to score in the 90th min {XD}

With this current Norwich side you really do not know what you are going to get. We were brilliant away at derby and then crap at Reading, we had those two huge home wins and then back to being awful at PNE. We had very good at the start but the followed it up with something like 1 win in 10 weeks.

I reckon it'll go one of two ways. A narrow Norwich win or a heavy Bournemouth one.

That was pretty much the story of us before this season. It looks like you've got by without the consistency though and you're in a good enough position for the new guy to work with.

We have Reading today who are on reasonable form for a team so low down in the table, but hopefully we get a decent result.

Someone needs to put an end to this Messi story which has barely any basis and is clear bs by the way. If it goes on for the entire window, I'll go crazy.

It is pretty amazing how close we still are to the top 6 even after all of this. I think he have a decent shot at the playoffs if the new manager can get them playing as a team, other than short spells whilst in the Premier League we haven't really been a team since the Lambert days. There is a pretty big gap in terms of quality and probably attitude between that and this bunch of players though. We'll see.

Reading did the double over us, they aren't a good side though. We just put in the type of performance we did away at the Riverside in them games.

Couldn't be much happier with today's set of results.

Seems like the ref had a bit of a shocker. I only listened to it but it sounds as if there could have been a handball in the lead up to Hooper's goal and then Howson shouldn't have been sent off.

Looking forward for seeing that Jerome goal on the Football League show.

tittlemouse January 10th, 2015 11:35 AM

I don't think Norwich deserved to win the game to be honest but thats football, you don't always get what you deserve. We had to slip up eventually just happy its now when the teams around us also failed to win costing us nothing really rather than lose closer to the seasons end when its must win.

Who knows might make us sign someone defensively as its our only weak point in our side

Weeaboo Name January 10th, 2015 11:54 AM

It sounded pretty even to me, in terms of decent opportunities at least. Possession was always going to be a home win, especially with the sending off. Sending off also might have helped us concentration wise, whilst it was nerverwracking it didn't really feel like there was an outright onslaught coming. Probably why it took a special goal to win it.

Was nice to see the new manager getting involved when Howson walked. I guess that was a case of Phelan and Holt's game plan going out of the window so he might as well get started.

Wow, Bradford destroyed Millwall 4-0. You'll never break Millwall? Nope nope nope....

Well this FA cup has been dismal due to the fact too many underdogs went out in the 3rd round. West Brom were nothing but cowards putting up an A side against non league Gateshead... a 7-0 win proves nothing except cowardice.

Blackburn vs Swansea will hopefully look to be a great game... but Blackburn need to improve in their defence.

Eruption January 15th, 2015 2:06 PM

I watched the Madrid derby earlier and I was left further confused as to how Simeone managed to get robbed for coach of the year at the Ballon D'or awards.

I hope Griezmann & Torres link up well beyond this game, it was good to see Torres score again.

Weeaboo Name January 17th, 2015 7:52 AM

3 - 0 up and Ruddy has saved a pen. Quite a good half.

Second half not so good. Wouldn't be Norwich if we did it the easy way, I suppose.
