And we have scored 4 goals in 6 games.

Banz September 25th, 2015 10:40 PM

So the 2022 World Cup will take place between November and December. What an absolute joke...

Eruption October 3rd, 2015 4:05 AM

Even with Fifa's main sponsors calling for his resignation, Blatter stays on. At this point, I think the major football associations should band together and create a new worldwide football organisation. I'm sure there would be some legal problems with that though.

Boro might go top today or we might end our good run against a strong Reading side. If we win this game, I think it would be hard to stop my optimism bursting out and saying 'we're definitely going up'. After all, beating the teams around us was a problem last season.

I enjoyed watching Spurs last week, I hope they put a run together.

I don't think so. FIFA does not own football. Splinter league have been common in cricket with Kerry Packer's World Series cricket in the late 70s and Zee's ICL in the 2000s. None of them were illegal according to the laws of the respective countries where they were held. It was simply that the ICC didn't recognise them as legitimate competitions. But the competetions themselves were perfectly legal.
If all the big European and South American football associations left FIFA and formed their own organisation, FIFA wouldn't have any power left.
The problem with FIFA is that everyone gets one vote, regardless of the size of the country, state of football there, or how good they are internationally. Blatter has used this to win votes from the small states and stayed in power despite oppostion from the big European associations.

Good to see Sunderland get a point today and overtake Newcastle (who got thrashed) in the standings.

Eruption October 3rd, 2015 8:34 AM

Not a good day for the North East teams, with the exception of Sunderland's draw. Newcastle, Hartlepool, Boro, Darlington and Gateshead all managing to lose. Even Sunderland were probably disappointed with the draw in the end. It seems like our game might as well have been over after fifteen seconds.

Banz October 3rd, 2015 9:35 AM

With the way things have been going for them, and considering West Ham's briliant away form, I think they would have been happy with a point at the start of the game. They had a chance to get all 3 but they blew it. Remember they played with a man down and scored level for a third of the game.

Aeroblast October 3rd, 2015 12:26 PM

Chelsea 1-3 southampton. mourinho blames refs.

they've lost the plot, just like 13/14 united. oh, and this.

Wow Ivanovic looks like me if I was trying to defend there. Mourinho spent a lot of money on Baba and yet even though there's a prime opportunity to put him in the team, he persists with his Ivanovic loyalty.

I don't understand this media persecution of Brendan Rodgers at the moment. He has the team three points away from the Champions League places and it's still very early in the season. The expectations on him seem to have been inflated by the season were they nearly won the title.

Banz October 8th, 2015 11:37 PM

Wilkommen!!

Sad to see him go. People have forgotten what he did just 15 months ago.
Thank you Brendan.

Thank you Brendan.

I'm glad to see there are still some Liverpool fans that haven't forgotten what the man almost did for your club. As long as he doesn't do too well, then I'm happy to see Klopp in the league

Eruption October 9th, 2015 2:18 PM

I think Brendan will be treated better in hindsight, but that won't do him much good for now.

Also, Sunderland appoint Big Sam. I get the feeling he will stick around for a bit in contrast to their previous managers. They won't exactly be top half standard anytime soon, but they might get a few seasons without a proper relegation fight for once.

That's exactly how I feel. I like Klopp, but I'm worried he will be hugely improving a team I really don't like. I am interested to see which random average players decide they're world beaters in his system though.

I think it's Joe Allen's time to shine {XD}
"Welsh Xavi makes statement under Klopp"
I can see the headlines already

Banz October 9th, 2015 9:34 PM

Sad to see Brendan being constantly taunted by some of the fans even when he's gone. All I see is 'character' jokes everywhere. Hope he'll be back to managing some team in the Premier League by the end of the season. Singing Klopp is a great move but this sacking has been very harsh on Brendan.

Banz October 15th, 2015 8:01 PM

Lol. Hang in there guys. :P
International break so very nearly over

Eruption October 16th, 2015 2:35 AM

Thank God, the only entertaining thing all week has been Wales embarrassingly celebrating their qualification as if they had won a cup.

Let's hope boro are back to winning ways tomorrow.

Banz October 18th, 2015 7:04 PM

Newcastle scored 6? Klopp Out.

Eruption October 31st, 2015 1:10 AM

Bump.

Right well I've calmed down from my midweek trip to Manchester. Hopefully the players have been focusing on today's game against Charlton a lot longer than I have.

Elsewhere in the UK, Chris Ramsey is definitely getting sacked sooner or later and Leeds might finally free themselves from a succession of terrible owners.

Limey-chan October 31st, 2015 10:52 AM

Chelsea lose again. Mourinho's position safe, according to "Sky Sources".

Quite baffling what's happening with them right now. Baffling, and yet amusing at the same time.

Eruption October 31st, 2015 12:15 PM

I think Chelsea were unlucky today, I started watching around sixty minutes and they conceded two deflected goals in what seemed like a pretty even game. I think the Chelsea board are happy to write off this season for the sake of continuity and just hope Mourinho guides them into Europe.

It's days like today that make me feel sorry for some loyal fans. Charlton fans made the trip to Middlesbrough today to witness a completely apathetic performance. It makes sense to come to the Riverside and park the bus, but at least try to attack sometimes when you have the ball. It turns out in the end they couldn't even park the bus that well.

tittlemouse November 9th, 2015 8:12 AM

Still scratched my head on just HOW did we lose to Newcastle the most one sided game I have EVER seen we did everything buy score and they get 1 shot and score it.

Massively need a striker and a decent keeper in January

Limey-chan November 9th, 2015 12:20 PM

Sounds like a reversal of the recent Wear-Tyne derby; Newcastle having the better chances but failing to convert dominance into goals and getting sucker-punched. These things even themselves out, if footballing people are to believed.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have resumed normal service after their derby heroics and gone back to being awful at pretty much every single aspect of football. Championship football next season, but speaking to friends who go to games regularly, they'd feel more confident of coming straight back up under Big Sam than they would if Poyet or Advocaat was still in charge.
