saints were bloody brilliant against leicester, though leicester were looking seriously poor

Timm Klose celebrated his goal by headbutting the corner flag today.

That still makes me laugh.

I need the champions league back. All sorts of tasty matches lined up.

Lunar January 30th, 2017 12:32 PM

Yeah really looking forward to the Champions League now, will be interesting to see how Leicester get on against a really good Sevilla side.

Mareep123 January 30th, 2017 12:55 PM

I'm a massive arsenal fan! Hoping we sign someone this transfer window...we need some reinforcements!

Kostas January 30th, 2017 1:09 PM

I can't wait for our game vs Schalke in 16 February! I will be at the stadium for sure!

Aeroblast January 30th, 2017 7:42 PM

Anyone want to predict Liverpool vs Chelsea? I'm going for Liverpool win/draw, though if you consider picking 2 possible outcome cheating I'll go for a draw.

If Mane's back in time (he's just come from African Cup), then it could go either way. If he's not, Chelsea will take it. Mane's been so influential for them this season that I think it will be decided for them by his participation.

Any big name transfers happening? I see Greizmann popping up, as well as Sanchez/Ozil contract stuff (Arsenal seriously need to get these two tied down as well as the Wenger situation sorted if they want to challenge)

Lipstick Vogue January 31st, 2017 3:59 AM

Looks like we're going Double Dutch again. Yanic Wildschut (7m apparently) and Mitchell Dijks (loan) replacing Olsson and presumably Brady. I guess we've just given up on defending and hope that goals take us to the playoffs.

Frozocrone January 31st, 2017 5:41 PM

Sadly I was asleep and couldn't follow the games live. As expected Mane's given Liverpool the lift they needed (it looks over for them though) . Arsenal and Tottenham will be furious, since it was a perfect opportunity to close the gap and they've gone and thrown it away (struggling to say who made it look worse, Tottenham for drawing against relegation candidates or Arsenal for failing to win).

They better hope the Manchester clubs don't get wins now.

EDIT: United flopped. City won convincingly. For the most part the top four got away with this weekend.

Aeroblast February 3rd, 2017 3:32 PM

Man Utd are so wasteful in front of goal, expect them to break the transfer record again with Griezmann upcoming summer.

Frozocrone February 4th, 2017 6:09 AM

Eden Hazard, take a bow.

Hull City should be proud.

If Man Utd win tomorrow there will be two points separating them from 3rd. Top 4 just got interesting.

Chelsea's league for the taking. If they let their 12 point lead slip, they don't deserve to win.

Lipstick Vogue February 5th, 2017 9:24 AM

I wonder if there's a relegation clause in Vardy's 100 grand a week contract.

Frozocrone February 5th, 2017 12:06 PM

Could see a Top 4 of Chelsea, Spurs, Man Utd and Man City. Chelsea have pretty much sealed the deal with only Tottenham really challenging them. Man Utd are rolling at the minute having been unbeaten since October and Man City have started to hit their stride. Liverpool's collapsed even with Mane added and Arsenal are looking close to dying. Hulls been good lately (draw against Man Utd and beating Liverpool) so wouldn't surprise me to see Hull get a result. Only game I see Arsenal comfortably winning is against Sutton and if they lose or force a replay, they'll be done.

Lunar February 5th, 2017 2:26 PM

Solid 3-0 win against Leicester earlier, I do feel sorry for them though, they're so far off the level of last season.

Goes to show how important Kante was to their success, especially when Chelsea are flying.

Lipstick Vogue February 5th, 2017 8:38 PM

Just one of many factors. Biggest is probably the fact that teams are prepared for Vardy/Mahrez and are defending deeper. Massive game with Swansea for them next week.

Anyone watch the Superb Owl? Ridiculous.

Chelsea are locked on for the title.

I'd agree with your list, although Arsenal always seems to sneak in to the top 4, even though they seem to have a tendency to melt down around this time of the year. Maybe Liverpool can sneak in but if smaller sides have already found a way to counter Klopp's pressing tactics, I don't see them doing too well in the future.

Kostas February 6th, 2017 12:38 AM

I know you're talking about Premier League but I'm going to get a little off-topic once more and to say one thing about PAOK, in Greece haha. I'm very happy of my team's performance, the last 2 months we lost only one game and we scored 34 goals, while we conceded only 4. I can't wait for round of 32 in EUL to start!

Champion's League also has an effect.

I hope they stay up because the minute they go down, their achievement last year is going to be tarnished because every time it's cited, it's going to be followed by 'yeah and they were relegated the season after'. But Leicester are so poor it's so sad to watch.

Didn't see the superbowl. I've heard of what went down though. Superb stuff.

Aeroblast February 6th, 2017 9:43 AM

I do wonder what the future holds for Arsenal, though.

It's clear by now that their ceiling is top 4 and nothing more, but I don't think the fans are happy with that. Yeah, they've won few FA cups in recent years but Wenger and co. haven't shown any resolve when things go tough for them for the past 10 years or so. Wenger's contract also runs out at the end of the year I believe, and even if he does renew it's not like he's getting any younger at 67 years of age.

Would be interesting to see how Arsenal handle the replacement of their long term manager.

Frozocrone February 6th, 2017 10:26 AM

If the board and fans had the same ambitions then there wouldn't be a divide. It's disgusting when one thinks about it because Arsenal fans pay the highest fees out of any club for tickets and yet the club mugs them off by signing one, maybe two players that they don't particularly need and only striving for top 4, a CL knock out round and maybe the FA cup. Sanchez and Ozil (latter is debatable) are the only bright sparks in Arsenal at the minute and Sanchez is getting increasingly frustrated. Does he hate Arsenal? No. But he hates losing and Arsenal is looking like the club that is settling. That's not a winning mentality. Wouldn't be surprised to see him run out his contract or leave for another club soon.

Arsenal always seem to kick into gear when it's clear that there is a danger of missing out on seeing Messi playing against them at the Emirates.

Logan February 7th, 2017 1:02 AM

Got my ticket for Wembley guys :)

Eruption February 8th, 2017 4:35 PM

I watched the first half of the Superbowl and for the first time in six years decided to go to bed early instead of seeing it through, what a horrible mistake.

I would feel sorry for Leicester, but frankly I'm kind of relying on them to keep playing bad so someone actually finishes below us since all the 'doomed' teams have decided to start playing again.

Awesome, ignoring the match part, it's a really fun day out. It gets a lot less fun if you lose of course.
