I still say it'll be Spain and the Netherlands through to the second round, though I am curious as to how Chile will do against them in their matchups.

Dreg June 13th, 2014 2:23 PM

Thing is, the Aussies have 2 players that play in League one and 1 that plays in the Championship. They are just outclassed here.

They played Japan, Jordan, Oman and Iraq. Won 3 Drew 4 Lost 1.

Eruption June 13th, 2014 2:31 PM

Even if Spain crash out here, their next generation will be good too so there's a positive.

I bet Australia would be winning this if they had the glorious Rhys Williams. lol jk

That's the problem, the Australian team here are a new generation which means they're pretty much rookies to the major events like this. Plus they did have their current coach only appointed late last year after Holger Osieck got sacked.

Edit: Australia finally scores! And as I expected it was Cahill who scored. It's now 2-1 to Chile.

Dreg June 13th, 2014 2:35 PM

And Australia have a goal! Chile 2-1 Australia!

Weeaboo Name June 13th, 2014 2:37 PM

Straya showing some heart. Fantastic.

Ivysaur June 13th, 2014 2:37 PM

Hahahaha. What's going on. How did that happen XD

Wow Cahill. Wow Chile.

Dreg June 13th, 2014 2:39 PM

A sudden spark from Australia now. Things might actually get interesting. This is the spirit that Australia needs.

I'm sure any newgen defender is better than our Rhys to be honest. :p

Two great headers today.

That Van persie dolphin dive was epic.

Dreg June 13th, 2014 3:06 PM

Looks like Franjic for Australia might be injured. Might have to bring on a sub.

EDIT: AND A GOAL F-- oh damn.... disallowed.

Weeaboo Name June 13th, 2014 3:14 PM

Cahill is still such a tank. This match is so fun.

Ryoutarou June 13th, 2014 3:14 PM

I can just feel the frustration with that most recent one.

Hamj June 13th, 2014 3:16 PM

The amount cahill heads the ball I'm surprised he can still walk straight. He must have a head of steel.
Does he take penalties with his head too? I'd love to see it

Ivysaur June 13th, 2014 3:17 PM

Oh my god. Oh my god. What is going on XD

Ryoutarou June 13th, 2014 3:20 PM

I kinda really wanna root for Australia right now, they're making some fantastic plays.

Gabri June 13th, 2014 3:21 PM

Nice match we have here. Australia is basically Cahill and Bresciano, but they're fighting well.

EDIT: Vidal, he mad.

Dreg June 13th, 2014 3:21 PM

Very nearly 3-1 to Chile. Cleared just off the line by Australia.

Wow it surely is looking close now, lots of near misses but I'd even be surprised if we settled for a 2-2 draw or something.

Ivysaur June 13th, 2014 3:34 PM

Okay. So Australia is still most likely going to be unceremoniously dumped off in the group stages but this has been truly remarkable.

Hikamaru June 13th, 2014 3:50 PM

Chile now leads 3-1, there's pretty much no chance of a comeback now.

Ryoutarou June 13th, 2014 3:50 PM

Welp.

It was a good effort from Australia, I actually think the teams were mostly even, but Chile did a better job at closing.

Dreg June 13th, 2014 3:50 PM

Well, Chile have the 3 points. 3-1 Chile now. Fireworks were heard also.
