Heartgold or Soulsilver?

Bringing back another thread! In the Fourth Generation, two games were created. Heartgold and Soulsilver, both of which were respective remakes of the games Gold and Silver. Out of the two, which one did you prefer? What are some of your reasons for your decision? Things to compare, if you're stuck for ideas can be version exclusives, certain features the other game might have not included or any other reasons you can think of. Without further ado, discuss!

Silver is definitely one of the most nostalgic Pokemon games for me and as SoulSilver was a remake of it, I've gotta vote for SS though I know HeartGold is great as well!

Hikamaru April 21st, 2013 8:23 PM

I picked SoulSilver because I prefer its version exclusives and my brother already had HeartGold so I decided to get the counterpart, which has been a trend for me since 3rd Generation.

I go with SS since is the version i play, i don't believe there are much differences tough, but both seen awesome that's for sure

Synerjee April 21st, 2013 8:48 PM

I prefer SoulSilver as it has Lugia! Lugia over Ho-oh anytime yo. It was also the fist version I played, so it definitely has some sentimental feelings to it. I'm playing HeartGold right now; so far there aren't many differences I can tell. Both of them are great!

Not true yo, you can get Lugia in HG yoyo.

Anyways, I picked Heart Gold because I prefer its exclusives way more than SSs. Even tho I prefer Lugia over Ho-oh xD.

I love em both because both games has the same legendarys

Kikaito plush April 22nd, 2013 6:15 AM

I first picked Soulsilver because I have gold first time around. I prefer Soulsilver as I think it has better version exclusives.

LaVida April 22nd, 2013 6:21 AM

I preferred HeartGold because you get to catch Ho-Oh early. I always take it with me in my team. I simply love Ho-Oh, it's one of my favorite Pokémon ever. <3

I couldn't care less for Lugia on the other hand.

I picked HeartGold because I played Gold as a kid; essentially it's my favourite by nostalgia default. 8)

PichuRules4ever April 25th, 2013 2:15 PM

I chose HeartGold. I personally prefer the color of Gold over Silver. Also, I have Silver for the Gameboy so I decided to get HeartGold. (I also prefer Ho-Oh over Lugia)

Nathan April 25th, 2013 3:58 PM

I'll go with Heart Gold since it's the only I tried. Great so far and Ho-Oh rocks!

JohnnyJ773 April 25th, 2013 8:46 PM

Heart Gold cuz I owned the original Gold. Also I liked the version exclusives and Ho-Ohs cut scene was really cool too me.

Brendino April 25th, 2013 10:28 PM

I went with HeartGold. Even though I prefer the version exclusives of SoulSilver, I had Gold as a kid, so HeartGold was my primary choice. I also prefer Lugia to Ho-oh (despite my avatar), and fortunately it shows up at a higher level in HeartGold.

I picked HeartGold because of the warm feeling I get of the game('s color).

Giant Magikarp May 1st, 2013 7:43 PM

I prefer SoulSilver because of Lugia, I like Lugia than Ho-Oh

D Dog master of war May 1st, 2013 7:57 PM

Soulsilver..because cooler pokés,and Lugia that's all you need too know

mitchgamelover May 1st, 2013 8:48 PM

I would have to go with Soul Silver. I always get the version that has the Legendary I like more on the box art. My only regret with not getting Heart Gold is the fact that I couldn't use a Phanpy on my team.

I like phanpy a lot.

TheLaserLuke May 1st, 2013 9:22 PM

Soul Silver all the way ! :)

Pokedude3012 May 2nd, 2013 2:46 AM

Heart gold. For the slightly weird reason that Caterpie is a heart gold exclusive, and Caterpie is epic.

ExeTheTyphlosion May 2nd, 2013 4:55 AM

I actually got both, but I prefer SoulSilver.

Aether★ May 2nd, 2013 5:38 AM

SoulSilver, because I can get my favorite Pokemon Vulpix there.

Aurora May 2nd, 2013 7:13 AM

I chose SoulSilver for some inconceivable reason and now deeply regret doing so, because I wasn't able to catch Growlithe... :c I wasn't a fan of many of the version-exclusives, either.

It probably had something to do with the packaging, the name ('SoulSilver' sounded more ethereal to me than 'HeartGold') and the fact I wanted a Lugia.

Astinus May 2nd, 2013 10:13 AM

I picked HeartGold. While I have both SS and HG, I played through more of HG, while I just lost interest in SS. I'm not sure what the reason was, but I was able to play through HG more. Maybe it's because I prefer the PokeWalker that came with my HG game more, since it has the Ho-Oh protective case on it.

pokem0nprincess May 2nd, 2013 10:18 AM

I chose SoulSilver because it's the one I have, and the version exclusives are better, IMO.
