I agree with the Spiderman ones. Those hilariously awesome.

Sothis June 24th, 2013 1:32 AM

The spider man ones are pretty funny, but I agree with memes staying on the internet, I've seen so many meme t shirts and stuff ugh ;;

Tsutarja June 24th, 2013 2:05 AM

Yes, I agree about memes and the internet. It's bad enough that some memes are getting used on TV these days as well as being printed onto shirts.

I know that there's a few trollface shirts out there as I've seen people from school wearing them, and some of the latest ones are derivatives of the "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster being printed to shirts.

keep in kind that 'keep calm and carry on' has been popular since 2000 and predates the embarrassing meme culture of today lol

Shiny Celebi June 24th, 2013 9:10 AM

I dont get most meme's to be honest, though some of them are funny, like Grumpy Cat is one I find funny. Memes tend to be a bit overused though.

Kura June 24th, 2013 9:42 AM

My bro, dad, and I used to make fun of 60s spiderman on Teletoon retro all the time when I was a kid. Especially the opening theme where he swings above the building and we would laugh at the fact that he is probably attaching his web to the clouds.. lol

Captain Gizmo June 24th, 2013 10:12 AM

60's super hero cartoons were so cheesy that they were awesome, haha. I remember Boomerang used to be a channel exclusively for retro cartoons. But that was when I was still in primary. I don't know if they still have Boomerang or if they still show those retro cartoons. I miss my childhood :-(

I'm a big fan of the '60's Scooby Doo series. I grew up on it and it's just amazing, imo. <3

Honest June 24th, 2013 5:10 PM

I love Scooby Doo, remember watching the show when I was younger. No idea what version it was, though. ;c

Hikamaru June 24th, 2013 5:15 PM

I watched an old Scooby-Doo cartoon back when I was really young, around 9 or 10 or something. I think it was the one with the "Scooby Doo, where are you?" song or something. I'm surprised how the series has evolved a lot, notably with the character designs.

That's the original, it's pretty epic. I just love the Mummy episode. :3

I actually remember the mummy episode! Gah, good times. I liked the recent movies, too, haha.

you're going to be a little bit more specific about which mummy episode you mean, daphne

scooby doo is honestly one of my favourite cartoons of all time!!! always a joy to watch, predictably entertaining, full of famous catchphrases/lines ('jinkies!', 'let's split up gang', 'if it weren't for those meddling kids...' GOD THERE ARE SO MANY) and it's truly the jewel in the crown of hanna-barbera in my opinion

i also love the movies to death btw, thanks to glorious scenes like this

Honest June 24th, 2013 5:33 PM

OMG I LOVED THAT SCENE. Man, I haven't seen the movies in a while, too, I just realized. Need to get my Scooby Doo fill in, sometime soon.

My favorite quote will forever and always be "Zoinks" though.

The one where the mummy walks around and goes "coin, coin!!" and everything. It's one of the first few episodes of the show period.

Captain Gizmo June 24th, 2013 7:07 PM

go, go, go, ghost!

I liked the movie Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, I saw the premiere on Cartoon Network when I was a kid and I kept watchign the re-runs of it also. It's my favorite Scooby-Doo movie until now :)

Cordelia June 24th, 2013 7:26 PM

That is a good movie, I actually really enjoyed it. It was done quite well. :3

Captain Gizmo June 24th, 2013 7:51 PM

That was the first time I saw real monsters on a Scooby-Doo show. Wasn't really expecting it, tbh :)

Shining Raichu June 25th, 2013 12:11 AM

Cordelia June 25th, 2013 5:14 AM

That's a lost cause, sorry Andy.

Treecko June 25th, 2013 5:26 AM

Good luck with that cause we're talking about Scooby Doo now. :P

Anyway, love that show. The only few of the movies I've seen were the 2 live actions ones and Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders and Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase Alien Invaders is my favorite watched it millions of times.

Hell if I know. I was just making a joke one of my stupid friends told me before realizing it probably wasn't appropriate for PC. And no, I'm not gonna finish it.

The Kami trio? Those are the closest elf like Pokemon I can think of.

Specifically their Incarnate forms (shown above.). Though Tornadus is the only one that looks like it has hair.

Elf and mustache? Elves don't have mustaches.

I used to use Photobucket back when I made my own sigpics, which never looked great lol.

Since becoming Supporter, I ditched that and now I solely use Tumblr as my ideal image source for avatars, signatures and profiles.

Starry Windy June 25th, 2013 9:14 PM

I think imgur is one of the best image hosting imo. Although I must admit I use Tumblr as my source of my sigs lately.

Treecko June 25th, 2013 9:32 PM

Imgur is much better than Photobucket cause you don't even need an account to upload images. Still I have an account for storage purpose.

Tsutarja June 26th, 2013 2:01 AM

imgur without a doubt.. I switched to it in 2011 from ImageShack, because ImageShack was beginning to shrink and resize images on their server which got me to steer away from them, but I was also using a service known as Imagehost, but that closed down in late 2010. There's also minus, but to keep images up, you have to have an account.

Speaking of imgur, how do y'all pronounce it? I've pronounced it at "image ur"..

As for my signatures, I use dropbox for those images, just in case I ever wanted to return to a signature/theme and didn't want to go digging through for a URL.

Her June 26th, 2013 2:25 AM

Imgur <3
[supporter]Matthew[/supporter] (r.i.p) introduced Imgur to me back in like....2010???? I haven't looked back since, lol. It's perfect!! It's nowhere as slow as Tinypic, it's prettier, it's more efficient, etc. It's just a beautiful and priceless site that I will go to war for!!!

And for the record, I pronounce it as 'imm mur guh'.

Treecko June 26th, 2013 2:46 AM

I always pronounced it Imh gurr even though it's officially pronounced image-er , though to me image-er just sounds weird.

Plumpyfoof June 26th, 2013 4:40 AM

Imgur always annoyed me in that I couldn't pronounce it, the same way nobody can agree on how to pronounce Gif.

Well, it's not as bad as some of the other ads that I get on this site. One of which in particular is about an online game that's rated for people ages 18+.

So much for PC being family & child friendly...

Sir Codin June 26th, 2013 6:00 AM

Same for me. And sometimes when I'm not using Adblock, I see that PC advertises a certain softener for the clothes. I see that it advertises anything that is well-known in my country.

Tsutarja June 26th, 2013 6:38 AM

Right now I just got an advertisement for Best Buy on PC, but I disabled AdBlock Plus for PC since they don't have malicious ads and they're a site that I support fully.

I seem to get advertisements for technology-related stuff here on PC. I can recall having advertisements for Symantec products and AT&T phone plans.

Seki June 26th, 2013 6:42 AM

Ads? I don't see them at all, but that's probably because I have adblocker, it just makes the internet less... flashy?

Meganium June 26th, 2013 8:59 AM

/'mʥr/

I only see ads when I'm on my mobile devices, but I usually ignore them because they make no sense anyways "TRY OUR FREE TRIAL OMG" (what are they selling?!?!)

Astinus June 26th, 2013 11:00 AM

I will forever pronounce it "im-jer."

Currently still use photobucket, but that's because I'm too lazy to switch everything I have on my photobucket account to an imgur account. But yes, photobucket has a monthly bandwidth limit (unless you want to give them money) and TinyPic is also bad because it deletes image urls after a while, and going back to reading something with TinyPic pictures gets hilarious and confusing.

As for ads, I don't see any here, but I use Adblock and have no good reason why I use it here other than I keep forgetting to disable it on PC. See them here when I'm on my tablet, but I don't pay any attention to what they're advertising. Adblock is a great tool when browsing the Internet, especially when ads either use autoplay noises (hearing "YOU WON A FREE IPAD!" screamed in your ear) or a lot of flashing that could make people have seizures.

droomph June 26th, 2013 11:16 AM

I don't get companies that think it's worth it to have a feature that causes so much trouble to the customers for a not-worth-it gain in capacity.

I mean, I would be more than willing to pay for the difference if it means I don't have to go through the trouble.

Shiny Celebi June 26th, 2013 12:58 PM

Ads are plain annoying, I dont really like seeing them on sites and have pop ups blocked. I don't really want to see people's scams thank you very much :l

Mr. X June 26th, 2013 2:04 PM

I started using adblocker here when PC had a ad up asking people to download a adware infested piece of crapwaresoftware.

This was about 5 years ago though.

Sir Codin June 26th, 2013 7:11 PM

Okay, so topic has been dead for a while, time for a new one:

Dream game: Pokemon with the free roaming, freedom of choice, and scope of Elder Scrolls and Fallout 1&2, with the writing quality of Planescape: Torment

Kanzler June 26th, 2013 7:16 PM

What do you mean by freedom of choice? Branching storylines and multiple endings? Or event sequences that affect each other (I guess effectively multiple endings)?

I don't know if I'd be happy with better writing quality. Simple and clean is how I like it already, I dunno if it would be the same if pokemon was too epik.

Sir Codin June 26th, 2013 7:20 PM

Both. And allowing you to do what you want to solve problems, join different factions (or villainous teams).

And it doesn't even have to be a main game. I'd settle for it being a spin-off.

Kanzler June 26th, 2013 7:53 PM

I'd imagine freeroaming to get in the way of the levelling system? Like I suppose Borderlands is freeroaming, but the levels still constrain you to follow the storyline. Maybe it would be like being able to choose between the DP and Platinum storylines for Hearthome, Veilstone, and Pastoria (I had to search these up, 4th gen left the most shallow of impressions on me).

Wouldn't hurt to try. I hear Obsidian almost succeeded with Mask Of The Betrayer. :)
Seriously, I would LOVE for Chris Avellone to lead development of a Pokemon game. That would just tickle me.

Powerserge June 26th, 2013 8:54 PM

It would certainly be stimulating and humorous, but I really doubt he'd even work on a Pokemon title. Maybe, I mean I don't know the guy personally, but all of his projects have involved pretty realistic and gritty worlds. Pokemon has never had any true realism or grit, to me, so it's even hard for me to envision a game in which it was suddenly given those things.

Obsidian as a whole though, working with Gamefreak? That is some alternate reality craziness!

Sir Codin June 26th, 2013 9:11 PM

At the very least, he'd probably look at the setting and create some character that serves as a mouthpiece for everything about the setting that might irritate him, like he did with Kreia in KOTOR 2.

I don't know about Obsidian programmers working on a Pokemon game, though, it'd be too glitchy upon release and would require patches. Maybe their writing ability, but leave the gameplay programming to Gamefreak. Of course, I'm still hoping Obsidian turns around, I'm dying waiting for Project Eternity and South Park: The Stick Of Truth and I'm praying they don't screw them up.

I struggle with Pokemon being in three dimensions. The 3d we have now has ridiculously few polygons and it upsets me as a game designer (although I'm sound so I don't know why it bothers me).
To make Pokemon into the kind of serious, mature thing that we're sort of discussing here would in my opinion remove all of it's current personality and leave it feeling like an entirely different thing. I mean you couldn't have Sigumori artwork Pokemon in this game, they'd be entirely redesigned into realistically terrifying monsters. Associating that with the nostalgia of todays Pokemon is difficult.

Fantastic game, but totally abrupt and slightly disturbing considering its roots.

I'm going to have to say, I've realized since then that if you look at something far away, it looks smooth.

For example, my face isn't smooth (at all), but when I look at it from about 5 feet away, it looks like a model's skin in terms of smoothness.

So I think that'll translate over to Pokémon. I don't think we're going to look at the skin up-close anyways…

I like the idea of that, honestly. It would make battles a lot more interesting. {:

Speaking of- realistic battling would be cool, as well. More like in the anime, so that it would require more thinking than it does now. Maybe that's just me haha. But wouldn't that make it more fun? Combining moves and using tactics that seem obvious, but are impossible in the actual games.

Please, this is a kids game, don't forget. Monsters would probably bump the ESRB rating, and I doubt Nintendo would want that.

Realistic battles would be a dream come true, though.
