Good Unova Competition Team?
So I'm building a competitive Unova team and I joined this website to see what the more advanced public thinks about my team. Here it is:
Emboar Item: Choice Band Moveset: Flare Blitz, Head Smash, Wild Charge, Hammer Arm Basically I needed a needed a fire type and I though Emboar was a good choice. He is my first Physical Sweeper. Haxorus Item: Life Orb Moveset: Outrage, Dragon Dance, Earthquake, Brick Break I decided to add another Physical Sweeper, and I though Haxorus was a good choice. Hydreigon Item: Choice Scarf Moveset: Draco Meteor, Flame Thrower, Focus Blast, Dark Pulse Hydreigon is going to be one of my Special Sweepers, and because he's boss I just really wanted him on my team. Chandelure Item: Quick Claw Moveset: Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, Energy Ball, Psychic Chandelure is my other Special Sweeper, and I though a ghost type would be good to have on my team. He is holding the quick claw for speed purposes. Carracosta Item: Chesto Berry Moveset: Waterfall, Earthquake, Toxic, Shell Smash Carracosta will be my Physical Tank, seeing as he is the best choice and I needed a strong water type. Ferrothorn Item: Leftovers Moveset: Spikes, Power Whip, Thunder Wave, Leech Seed Ferrothorn is going to be my Special Tank and my Spiker. I couldn't really find another good choice for either of these pokemon within Unova. Please let me know what you think or what I should change! Thank You! |
Natures, Abilities and EVs would be great here.
Anyway, while Emboar's set looks fine on paper, I'd like to propose some changes to its move set. If you have Black 2/White 2, you can tutor Emboar Superpower, as it's stronger than Hammer Arm and has better accuracy: -Flare Blitz -Superpower -Wild Charge -Sleep Talk (Emboar can act as a sleep absorber this way and still be able to attack with this) Nature: Adamant (Choice Band)/Jolly (Choice Scarf) EVs: 236 HP/252 Atk/20 Spe (Adamant) or 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe (Jolly) Item: Choice Band (Adamant)/Choice Scarf (Jolly) I'd use Lum Berry on Haxorus because Outrage's confusion side effect can be problematic. Haxorus is also screwed by the occasional paralysis or burn. It also gained more coverage options in Black 2/White 2: -Dragon Dance -Outrage -Earthquake -Low Kick/Aqua Tail/Taunt Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Lum Berry Ability: Mold Breaker Haxorus has other routes to take besides Dragon Dance: -Swords Dance -Outrage -Low Kick/Superpower -Earthquake/Aqua Tail/Substitute Nature: Adamant EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Fighting Gem/Life Orb/Lum Berry Ability: Mold Breaker or -Outrage -Earthquake -Superpower -Aqua Tail/Dragon Claw/Dual Chop Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Choice Band Ability: Mold Breaker or -Dragon Dance -Swords Dance -Outrage -Low Kick/Earthquake Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Draco Plate/Lum Berry Ability: Mold Breaker Hydreigon's movepool is massive and it gained another wall breaking alternative in the form of Superpower and a recovery move in Roost in Black 2/White 2: -Draco Meteor -Superpower -Fire Blast -Earthquake/Earth Power/Roost Nature: Rash/Mild EVs: 4 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Life Orb/Expert Belt or -Substitute -Dragon Pulse -Focus Blast -Fire Blast/Roost Nature: Modest EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Leftovers/Life Orb or -Draco Meteor -Fire Blast/Flamethrower -Focus Blast -U-turn/Dark Pulse Nature: Modest EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe Item: Choice Specs (while Hydreigon can fix its Speed with Choice Scarf other Dragons can do it better) The Quick Claw is too luck-based to be used competitively, so I wouldn't recommend it, no matter how tempting it is to go first sometimes: -Substitute -Fire Blast -Shadow Ball -Pain Split/Energy Ball/Will-o-Wisp Nature: Modest EVs: 68 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef/184 Spe Item: Life Orb/Leftovers or -Fire Blast -Shadow Ball -Hidden Power (Fighting) -Trick/Energy Ball Nature: Modest EVs: 120 HP/252 SAtk/8 SDef/128 Spe Item: Choice Specs Ability: Flash Fire or -Fire Blast -Shadow Ball -Energy Ball -Trick/Hidden Power (Fighting) Nature: Timid EVs: 252 SAtk/4 SDef/252 Spe Item: Choice Scarf Ability: Flash Fire Chesto Berry should only see use on sets that use Rest, and this Carracosta doesn't. Since it's using Shell Smash, White Herb is the preferred item to negate the defensive drops. Also, why no Rock STAB?: -Shell Smash -Waterfall -Stone Edge -Aqua Jet Nature: Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: White Herb (assuming item clause) Ability: Sturdy/Solid Rock It can also take on a tank role, albeit a rather shifty one because of its bad defensive typing: -Stealth Rock -Waterfall -Stone Edge -Aqua Jet/Toxic Nature: Adamant/Impish EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Def (Adamant) or 248 HP/8 Atk/252 Def (Impish) Item: Leftovers Ability: Solid Rock The preferred nature and EV spread for Ferrothorn is 252 HP/88 Def/168 SDef with a Relaxed nature. Since this team is weak to Fighting Pokemon, Jellicent is something else to consider as an alternative Fighting check. It's recommended to use this alongside Ferrothorn, as both have good defensive synergy: -Scald/Surf -Will-o-Wisp/Toxic -Recover -Taunt Nature: Bold EVs: 248 HP/216 Def/44 Spe Item: Leftovers or -Scald/Surf -Shadow Ball/Ice Beam -Will-o-Wisp -Recover Nature: Calm EVs: 252 HP/36 Def/220 SDef Item: Leftovers Ability: Water Absorb or -Water Spout -Hydro Pump/Surf/Scald -Shadow Ball -Ice Beam/Giga Drain Nature: Modest EVs: 172 HP/252 SAtk/84 Spe Item: Choice Specs Ability: Water Absorb Something insanely powerful to consider is Excadrill, who can act as an offensive Rapid Spinner (yes, I'm aware it's an Uber in the competitive metagame, but this team looks like it was made with pure Unova Pokemon in mind): -Swords Dance -Earthquake -Rapid Spin -Rock Slide/Substitute Nature: Adamant EVs: 176 HP/60 Atk/252 SDef/20 Spe Item: Leftovers Ability: Mold Breaker or -Swords Dance -Earthquake -Rock Slide/Rapid Spin -Iron Head/Shadow Claw/Rapid Spin Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe Item: Life Orb/Air Balloon Ability: Sand Rush |
May I also suggest that you add a Flying type to replace one of your Fire-types in your team, because your team may have a hard time against Ground-type Pokemon which none of your team resists. As this seems to be Unova based, I'd recommend Landorus. Landorus has the added Ground-typing, which makes it neutral to Stone-Edge which many Ground-types commonly carry.
Item: Expert Belt Nature: Naive Ability: Sheer Force 228 Atk / 28 SpA / 252 Spe - Stone Edge - Earthquake - U-turn - Hidden Power Ice/Flying |
