I adore Poison-types so I'd love to join, please! I'll pick http://pldh.net/media/pokecons/088.png and http://pldh.net/media/pokecons/590.png as my partners; my two favourite Poison-types.
I'll only answer one topic for now and save some for later, so I'll explain why I choose these two as my favourites! Honestly I love the huge majority of Poison types, hence my old Poison club, but these two have always shone out about the rest for me.. I adore the way Grimer is able to mould his body around attacks and absorb any physical attack like it's nothing, whilst all the while being able to deliver hit after hit after hit of power and poison back at the opponent. I've loved Grimer ever since the summer school episode of the DP anime where Dawn was given one to use - it was the posing and this moment sold it for me: As for Foongus, I've never used one and don't really want to because it would almost certainly spoil it for me when I realise I hate its play style, but it's just so damn cute :D |
I guess I'll join! I have always found Poison types interesting so for that reason I am happy to sign up!
I'll use Crobat as my partner Pokemon as it has always been my favorite Poison type. http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/crobat.png I'll answer the topic about which is my favorite for now. Crobat is and always had been my favorite Poison type due to it's great design, nearly unmatched speed, good defensive typing, vast movepool, and great attack. He is such a good Pokemon not only in-game, but in competitive as well. He can outspeed you and do some serious damage, or whirlwind away your stat boosts. I also like how he is part of a friendship evolution which requires you to have a more special bond with him as a trainer which is really cool. So overall Crobat takes the spot as my favorite! |
I'll pick Muk and Scolipede as my 2 partners.
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/7/77/089.png http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/f/f3/545.png Roxie is my favorite Poison-type Gym Leader. She only used 3 Poison-types in the anime (Koffing, Scolipede and Garbodor) against 6 of Ash's Pokémon and easily took out most of them. She rocks, and knows how to use Poison-type Pokémon to their full potential. I'll also go ahead and say that Muk is my favorite Poison-type Pokémon. Everything about him screams poison. He can learn a wide variety of Poison moves (Poison Gas, Sludge, Sludge Bomb, Acid Armor, Sludge Wave, Gunk Shot, Acid Spray, Toxic, Venoshock and Poison Jab). His footprints also contain poison. Can't get any more deadlier than that. |
Thanks for joining guys! I'm very glad people share my love of Poison Types! :D
CloysterOyster, here is a creepy fact I have found on the web: Spoiler:
Creepy, but Muk and Grimer are still great! And Roxie is freaken awesome! She is my idol! I am like her in so many ways! :D |
YEAH POISON TYPES
I'll join! My favourite poison-type Pokemon is easily Stunky, so I'll be taking that on board as a partner! As for why I like Stunky, I'm not exactly sure. After Ozzy mentioning that its face looked like a butt, I was slightly disturbed but I still love the fuzzball! Despite skunks having the smell of something that rolled around in a dumpster and then proceeded to wash the smell off in the depths of a sewer, their skills for survival are inspiring! Skunks are actually one of my favourite animals and while some of them are far from cute, I just admire them. Their way of defending themselves make them feared animals and they're just strong and independent! When I was younger, while other second grade kids wrote about liking cats and dogs, I wrote about ferrets, skunks, birds and pterodactyls. Stunky is just great in every single way. I actually find it quite cute and its a powerhouse to use in battle with a unique typing. Some other of my favourites include Haunter, Venusaur, Gulpin, Croagunk, Nidoqueen and a lot more! And now its time to answer the other topics. Ready for a word adventure? No? Too bad, you're getting one anyway. Which generation of Pokemon had the best poison-types? Hm that's a good question actually. I'm gonna go with the original generation! They had a huge amount of poison-types compared to the others and they were all fantastic. Jellyfish, bees, bats, bugs, all sorts of things! I really liked all of them and some of my favourite poison-types are amongst them. Nidoqueen, Vileplume etc. They're all amazing and I could easily do a poison monotype in either R/B/Y or FR/LG since there's such a huge variety of powerhouses. :D Least favourite poison-type? There is one poison-type that has bugged me the most and its not Zubat. Venonat. The eyes just freak me out, it has a rubbish design, I find it intimidating, I don't like anything about it. Just incredibly awful. The access to various status moves also makes it a pain in the butt to face. I'm just overall not a big fan of that Pokemon. Venomoth had a better design but I'm still not totally in love with this strange evolution family. If someone can convince me why this thing is so great, I might listen but I'm still creeped out by it. :( Who is your favourite poison-type specialist? Roxie! She's so enthusiastic and hyped, that it's fun to battle her. Plus having a tough kid gym leader was nice for a change. She doesn't go easy on just about anyone and she can be stern! Also rocking out on a guitar and having her own band? She's just one of my favourite characters in any mainseries game. Also being courageous is a nice trait. Roxie is one cool cat. (: |
Okay, Narnia! You have been accepted! ^^ And I totally agree, Venonat is just... plain ugly! xD
That school story sounds fun! :P And yeah, I am more interested in the animals with unique attributes then something everyday and normal. I still adore puppies though! :D |
Do want to join! Hope these 2 are okay.
http://pldh.net/media/pokecons/024.png http://pldh.net/media/pokecons/071.png Poison Pokemon don't get enough love but the majority of them are just plain awesome! I love the snakes especially. By the way we need a legendary (that isn't Arceus). The first-gen poison types are without a doubt my favorites; I could make a team entirely of them in Blue. I use Victreebel and Gengar every time anyway, haha. Of course, I indulged heavily in Seviper and Scolipede as generations progressed. My favorite? Probably Victreebel as it's my favorite grass type. I use it every time I play Blue, and it was my favorite of Team Rocket's in the show =P If we're going pure though, it's Muk. All day. Best friend in Stadium. Least favorite is... Spinarak? Wow, I actually don't really have problems with any of them; I'm looking at the list xD Looks like Spinarak has to be the scapegoat as it's the one I like the least, I guess. For the specialist, I'm going with Roxie. I'm kinda a metalhead (gonna learn bass as soon as I get the cash for one) and who doesn't love Koffing!? |
Welcome to the Club, Darkfool! :D Glad to have you here.
I totally agree! We should have a Poison Legendary! Don't tell anyone, but I hear there is one in X/Y which is evil and it is carried in Celtic folklore. That artical seemed pretty solid to me. :P Victreebel and Gengar seem fine to me! But watch out! Wouldn't want him to impersonate your shadow. xD YAY! Another Roxie fan! As you may see, I am a huge fan of her, she is rocking it day and night! Like me. ^^ Learning the bass you say? Well, I plan to get my own Electric Guitar one day, then I can go solo and play Short Stack. :D |
Im join! My favourite poison-type Pokemons is Nidoking And Gengar
What Is Your Favorite And Why? My Favorite Is Gengar Because His Desgin And Hi Is Very Powerfull Pokemon |
Quote:
Gengar is certainly a very powerful Pokemon isn't he. He has been a staple in OU play due to his amazing speed, great movepool, strong Sp.Attack, and ability to play a role as a spin blocker. He gets 2 very powerful STAB moves in Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball to help him perform the role of a special sweeper. His biggest downfall though is his terrible defenses. He is taken down very easily unfortunately. However he is certainly a cool choice as a favorite Poison Pokemon! Also welcome to the club :D |
Thanks Feeling Great To Be Here
|
Okay then! You are now a member! Congrats. ^^
|
Semi-Contradictory to my username, I'm gonna (try to) join this club before I further contemplate the club representing Electric types.
If Rozu is okay with it, I would like to have one pokemon and leave an empty slot for later down the line. Why? Gen VI seems to be full of more and more 'interesting' type combinations, and if somewhere down the line in either Kalos or some other region a Poison/Electric type crops-up I would like to add it. That out of the way my first(And perhaps only) pick is Nidoking(Will edit when I have more posts to add his sprite here), he might be kinda sluggish, he might be over-used, and he might be shorter than me (Nidoking's Ht. 4'07 ... o.o), but over the years I've grown to love this guy, I'm not really TOO picky between it and Nidoqueen(Raising a Nidorina to lv 53 before I use a moon stone, thanks to Randomizer), but for whatever reason I just prefer this guy(Must be the speed and offense). Being a jack-of-all-trades stat-wise with a wide n' eccentric (Not to mention viable)movepool for almost anything in it's path, unique typing(For now), and lack of 4x weakness(Major deal breaker with me, usually) I just can't help but like the big guy. The Poison Type Love is really weird for me, because for some reason as I've seen more n' more of their presence in game play, the comeback they're trying to make, and using them more in different playthroughs (Mostly hacks) I just really like them. The way things such as Facade and Toxic Boost use it to their advantage just feels bittersweet. I once came upon a forum about Kyurem, talking about how Nintendo somehow dislikes Ice types, but what about Poison Types(?) No Legendary(No, Arceus, holding that Toxic Plate doesn't even satisfy me :/), barely ANY presence in Hoenn and onward(Though Hoenn was the worst, IMO), and since Gen II has only been reduced to being super-effective against only Grass-Types and flat-out powerless against Steel-Types. The very idea of Fairy possibly(And maybe even probably) being weak to Poison just makes my eyes sparkle more and more. And then there's the deception-factor, so many pokemon can learn Toxic(Which Koga explains the reason behind why) and Grass n' Bug types almost seem to use it moreso than the rest, Twineedle for a while being able to bypass the Steel's resistance and even mono/pure-type grass pokemon being able to learn PoisonPowder. And now thanks to Gen V, Soak users can help deliver to the troll-faced Steels a slow, but long-awaited nerfing from their number-one haters. I'll get to the other questions later as ^ can tell you I kinda tend to ramble(Less so then when I'm actually talking, but still ._.). Least Favorite Poison-Type I don't really hate or dislike any pokemon in general (Even The Food, Things, and 'creepy' Pokemon), but I have the debatable irrational fear of Bees, Hornets, and those of the like. The only pokemon that falls under that category for Poison-Types is (Naturally) Beedrill, it might have 'Bee' in it's name but the wiki answers seem to suggest they're more of the wasp variety(Based on their features in contrast to bees) more specifically the 'Giant Hornet' (Or so Bulbapedia seems to find plausible). Just thinking about them makes me paranoid of my surroundings(It is Summer and I've already seen their inspired subjects around our house O_O") and just imagining if they were real and in this very room ... I'd rather be be-headed by a Scyther or drunk like a can of Soda before being sliced to ribbons by a Kabutops then spend one second in the same vicinity of one of these things. I apologize for sharing those nightmarish(And graphic) images, but that is how I truly feel, and I assume the 'WHY?' is implied for the 'least favorite' as well ._. |
Saving a Pokemon may be a tad difficult, but acceptable. :D
Welcome to the Club, a place for toxic awesomeness! ^^ I can't believe I read all that, but yes, you do have some points. The reason I don't use Poison Types is because it is effective against one thing, so why not get a fighting or fire type which is effective against more? I adore bee's! They are so cute and fluffy! But when they sting me, they are lucky they die afterwards... mwahaahhahahahahahhaha!! >:D Rambling is quite appreciated in some forums, because we prefer that over: 'yeah i prefer dat to this 1' And then it basically ends! But I like this style a bit since by bestie talks like that. xD |

Oooh, that's fine. Will I change Gengar to Arbok, then? :P
Celtic Folklore is just plain awesome. It always holds so much wisdom and awesomeness. xD |
I'd like to join, i've used Poison types since FireRed and they were always essential to me in my teams, with my partners being Nidoking and Toxicroak. (my laptop is a arse when it comes to copying image url's sometimes so apologies for no sprites).
As for the topics: Which Generation Holds The Best Poison Types? Gen 1 for sure: Venusaur, Nidoking, Nidoqueen... shoud i go on? ^_^ What Is Your Favorite And Why? Toxicroak, this guy was a beast in my Platinum game. I really loved him althrough he has 4x Psychic weakness Least Favorite? Amoonguss, its not that appealing to me and the same goes for Garbodor, but i like him a bit more than Amoonguss Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User? Roxie, hands down. Her gym in B2/W2 was amazing. |
Okay, Shadow! Welcome to the team!
Okay, so Toxicroak and Nidoking? (if not, you can just ask me to change it.) :P SO GLAD EVERYONE IS CHOOSING ROXIE! Suck it, Koga. >:D |
Best Generation of Poison: Not gonna say "best" but the first, because it's the only one I can remember. Plus it holds my favorite line of Pokemon who I often forget are poisonous anyway.
Favorite Two: Nidoran Female and Nidorina. Reasons are too long, explained them before. Like, if anyone's seriously interested PM me about it. I will say this, I don't even like them because they're poisonous, it's just convenient, really. They could've been from another series altogether. *shrug* I like rabbits so, yeah. Least Favorite: ElectroRisingDawn hit the nail on the head. I also hate wasps iRL. I don't have an unfavorite Pokemon, but I still don't like wasps just based on principal. Favorite User: Please, they're all bad. Seriously though, I don't know. Can I pick a Pokemon instead? :\ Gengar from Mystery Dungeon knew how to use his power on his own accord, sooo, there you go I guess. |
YAY! So you will be joining? The legendary awesome drawer of our century? Man am I excited! Okay, Nidoran and Nidoran then? xD (if I've got it wrong just VM me).
Wasps are horrible, but bees are cute. I love 'ems! :D Okay, here is a discussion: What types do you think Poison should be super-effective against and weak against? |

Which Generation Holds The Best
Poison Types? I Think Gen 2 Because I Love Gen 2 Poison Pokemons |
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/043.gif
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/545.gif For my two Poison types, I'll go with Nuptup the Oddish and Roly-Poly the Scolipede. Let's start with which Generation gave us the best Poison types. Gen 1 is the obvious choice, just because of the sheer amount. We got Oddish, Bellsprout, Zubat, Gastly, Nidoran, and Bulbasaur (to name a few). I also think Gen 4 was pretty good, giving us Croagunk and Skorupi. My favorite Poison types, though, are Crowbat, Scolipede, Oddish, and Croagunk. |
Your Choise Is Great And Gen 4 Has Great Pokemons Too
|

Yeah, I think so too. After all, everything else is just a little mixed, huh? Quote:
Oh, sorry! Well, I can still change it if you would like. :3 Quote:

I love poison-type pokemon! Definitely sign me up. :D
My two partners: http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/nidoking.gifhttp://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/anim/normal/crobat.gif Nidoking (Nii): He's my favourite. I chose him, because he's an amazing pokemon! Whenever I play FR/LG, I ALWAYS have a Nidoking on my team. Always. Nidoking that knows Earthquake? Better watch out. Crobat (Batmon): Often underappreciated, Crobat is actually a very useful pokemon. I have a Crobat called Batmon on my Crystal version, and let me tell you - he's a beast. Do I even need to mention its high speed? :P Which Generation Holds The Best Poison Types? Gen. 1 definitely has some of the best poison-types. What Is Your Favorite And Why? Nidoking, like I mentioned above. Least Favorite? I can't think of a least favourite right now. And honestly, I haven't played B/W or B2/W2, so I can't say anything about the newer poison-types like Garbodor, or Amoonguss. Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User? I like Koga. :3 My awesome Batmon: http://i39.*.com/2ypnnm9.png |

My two partners:
Crobat and Drapion Which Generation Holds The Best Poison Types? Gen. 1. I think it has the most poison types, and holds awesome ones like Muk, Tentacruel and Nidoking/queen. What Is Your Favorite And Why? Crobat. I've always loved Crobat ever since I first saw it in Gen 2, and is always on my Gen 2 teams. Least Favorite? Probably Garbodor. Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User? Koga all the way. |

MAYBE IT'S TIME FOR NEW TOPIC ;) |
Hey guys! Sorry for the late edit, just been a bit distracted.
But anyways, welcome, guys! I hope you enjoy it here! :D |
*Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User?*
For Me Koga Because I Really Like Koga's Pokemons |
I dunno about Koga. One minute he is a Gym Leader, then the Elite Four, (a huge honor) then he is a Gym Leader, then he is the Elite Four, AGAIN!! xD Didn't watch the anime, but I have a feeling he did something... xD

Yes Your Right And Are You Like Koga? |
You have a point, I think there is a conspiracy going on here. :O
Sorry, was AFK for a day. Now I'm back. ^^ |
Quote:
If it's the former... I'm not sure? Haha, I mean my personality can flip from pirate to ninja and back again in a heartbeat, but I'd never put up invisible walls in my house =P If it's the latter, yeah he's pretty cool. He uses both Muk AND Weezing, some of my favorites, haha. I like Pokemon that can explode. |
Pokemon which can explode, eh? xD Well, they kinda freak me out, since if your kid was in the back-yard with it's Electrode and you suddenly heard a big BANG then you could say goodbye to the kid, haha. In the Pokemon world, having a pet Electrode and the such would be risky business. xP
|
Hahahaha! It would probably be banned for public use due to being a living atom bomb =P
Eletrode: "Uhhh, Did I do that?" |
Haha, totally. xD
In Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, they have Electrodes wandering the streets where kids play. :O Talk about a danger to the people/environment/other Pokemon and my TimTams stash, heehee. Sorry about this guys, but you've been a tad inactive. Maybe try posting a tad more? Thanks! :D |

Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User?
Koga ofc! Koga is the original Poison master and I loved fighting his team in the games because he had a team of excellent Pokemon and he also presented more of a challenge. In gen 2 when he made an appearance in the Elite Four I was pleasantly surprised. I never expected for him to be there, but I was happy because he was one of my favorite leaders from the previous gen. I also adored the fact that he used one of my favorite Pokemon of all time, Crobat <3 |
Crobat is pretty cool, but Koffing for the win! :D And Scolipede... and every single Poison type, haha. xD
I'll be adding some club content, so be prepared. c: |
Haha Scolipede was my jam in Gen 5- She ended up faster than anything and everything I took her up against!
An' also while James totally gave Weezing some existence beyond what it already was, I'm pretty sure Muk became iconic due to his "affinity" for Prof. Oak; I love how that gag endured in the anime as long as it did/has, actually. Also, Rozu, for some strange reason I saw you say "Koffing for the win" and I imagined a bunch of people playing volleyball with a Koffing, and every time a team misses and it lands on the ground, it uses selfdestruct :3 My mind works wonders I can't even comprehend... |
Haha! Now that is a game I would play. c:<
|
Quote:
That picture makes me think about how whenever a Muk or Grimer drags itself across the land, it leaves a trail of death and decay, making sure nothing will ever grow. Then how does Dawn openly stick her arm through a Grimer, eh? Wouldn't it cause her a skin condition or perhaps an illness? P.S: Didn't watch the anime, plan to soon. xD |
Pokedex entries always make Pokemon more awesome than they actually are. Either that, or the show simply ignores that aspect of the game world.
Now that I'm thinking about it, i think it'd be cool- a darker anime where the Pokemon are truly dangerous. Grimer and Muk are super toxic and hard to train because they can make their trainers ill on contact. Gengars actually hiding in ppl's shadows and maliciously possessing them a la exorcist style- Banette's is actually my favorite- seek it out if you have the time ;D |
Imma gonna join and pick these two Pokemon:
http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/stunky.pnghttp://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/crobat.png What Is Your Favorite And Why? I always loved Stunky and Skuntank, because I knew that before 4th Gen I was thinking they should make a skunk into a Pokemon (given how cute I think those critters are) and I used it quite a bit in my D/P/Pt playthroughs, and with not many weaknesses it's pretty hard to take down, not to mention how unique of a type combination Poison/Dark is! Least Favorite? Garbodor ewww. While Trubbish was adorable and everything, Garbodor looks so freaky with that facial expression and the fact it's like a monster made of rubbish. The poor thing's movepool, despite being diverse, doesn't make good use of its good Attack stat due to mainly having special-based attacks. I would have enjoyed it better if it only had a good physical movepool to work with, and maybe a bit less ugly? Probably worst Poison-type ever imo, the design is horrid. Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User? Roxie baby! I love how she's a lead singer in a rock band and her Gym's really cool, and I love all the awesome fanart of her that has been floating on sites like DeviantArt, Pixiv and Tumblr. I mean, I thought I'd never love Poison-type trainers and then suddenly they introduce her in Black 2 & White 2, because she was my saving grace for showing more love towards Poison-types. |
Welcome to the team, Hikari! Good to have you here! ^^
I actually agree with you on like, everything there. P.S: Don't tell anyone, but I wanna pet skunk. xD |
Everyone! I've just let out the content I mentioned! Please check just above the little signatures I set out for you.
Good luck~ Yo, peeps! Stay active or I'll be forced to do something you won't like. So can you PLEASE post more before I do that thing? >:c |
Well now I'm curious as to what that thing is (unless it's locking the thread. That would make me sad :()
I am quite confused as to the clue thing. I'm not even sure if I'm trying to guess what something is, or if it makes up part of the "toxic question." Haha, it's probably something really obvious, tho. I'm terrible xD That aside I FREAKING LOVE the Scolipede signature thingamajig... incorporating to sig now... |
Well, I'll announce the prizes on the main page. :P
If you demand a hint, here is one: One the most popular thread, it is now on the nineteenth of a little part of the forum used by Apple Juice. Good luck! (I made it too obvious, haha!) Glad you like it! |
Joinin'! About time. :) I'll pick this adorable little guy as my favorite poison: http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/001.gif
..which probably seems boring since it's a starter but I adore him so much. But outside Bulbasaur, whose primary type is grass, my other favorites are Crobat, Gasty's line, Scolipede, Roselia's line, the Nidorans.. it's hard to pick since a lot of them are awesome. Isn't this just amazing: Spoiler:
Crobat has some great artwork! |
Welcome Cirno! Good to have you have you here. Bulbasaur you say? Well, it is so gorgeous! I want one, so I can rub it's belly and feed it lettuce. So cute! ^^
I totally agree! Its so hard to pick which family line is the best. But the Nidorans are just so gorgeous, so I'll have to go with them. :3 That art-work is amazing! I really love the colors used in that one. :O |
I'd love to join, and rep poison types :D
I really like poison types, they make amazing walls when used right. and in my opinion are one of the best types to mix another type with! my favorites : Haunter and toxicroak http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite/093.png http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite/454.png |
Okay! Welcome to the club! :D
Congrats! I'll sign you up ASAP. :P |
Right. Bulbasaur. That little thing is so cute, and has almost always been my starter whenever it's offered. It's just too bad I don't generally like evolving Pokemon, but it seems that I must out of necessity, so I end up with Venusaur who I'm a lot more indifferent about (same can be said about most final stages for me).
Fortunately, if I get X or Y, I can have Bulbasaur stay a Bulbasaur, and just evolve the other creature I don't have any attachments towards. :P Not only that, but Mega Venusaur ain't worth it. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look any different, either. ...which coming from me, a person who says Pokemon's designs need to go back to being simple, is saying something. |
I'm going to have Bulbasaur and Fennekin, can I get some applause? >:D
|
Yup, I can make an exception. I might not be able to add moves, but I'll do my best. If anyone wants any bonus Pokemon, lemme know. :P
Welcome, Cloyster! :D |
I'm gonna join now.
I'll pick... http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/arbok.png and... http://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/venusaur.png Arbok because I did a Random Team Challenge on White and Arbok pulled my team along, and Venusuar was always my Gen 1 Starter (Charizard is overrated. :P). |
Was it already stated somewhere here that (it appears as if) Fairy types are weak to poison? Considering Poison never had too many Pokémon to hold itself over, I suppose Poison types should should take what they can get.
I'm still holding out on being able to learn some Nidofems charm based moves. All these kissy attacks... why hasn't Nidoran Female learned any of them yet*? D: Unless it has and I just haven't been paying attention? I want to manipulate fools and break hearts play with the power of love**. ;_; *In game. Any natural move could probably be learned if they have the means to do it iRL. Any Pokémon with teeth can bite, for example. ** I'm aware of Attract. T'ain't enough. |

^ I want to believe, I really do. Ugh, I want to get this game the Pokémonamie is pulling on me so hard but I can't because I'm a shlub.
What I wouldn't give for a full Pokedex leak right now. Or at least knowledge that people can transfer old Pokémon in straight away. The possibility of a French Nido-anything makes my active imagination go nuts with personality possibilities. :D *Looks up heart stamp* Ohohoo, that's mean. I want that. There's no way a Woobat is more charming than Nidoran Female. Over my dead carcass. Miltank I'll buy for sure, though. |
C'mon, they can't ignore the little Nido's! :3
Haha, Heart Stamp must be one of my favorite moves. Even though it's not thaaaaaaaaat good, I still love using it. :P FRENCH NIDOQUEEN FOR THE WIN!!!! C: |
I'm a fan of poison-type Pokémon, so I would love to join this group. I'm picking Gengar as my partner. ^^
Which Generation Holds The Best Poison Types? Probably generation three. They had access to Dustox, Roselia, Gulpin, Swalot, Seviper, and so much more! What Is Your Favorite And Why? My favorite poison Pokémon would definitely have to be Toxicroak. Its design is quite cool, and I find it to be really helpful when battling competitively. It has an Attack power that's better-than-average, and after a boost with Swords Dance, it could single-handedly take down many of your opposing Pokémon. Its Speed stat is excellent, so it should have no issues when it comes to outrunning other Pokémon. It's also got the Dry Skin ability, which enables it to restore more than half of its health when hit by water-type attacks. Gengar would have to be my second favorite, because I just love its design. <3 Also, when I was a little kid, I used to think that this Pokémon was some sort of a legendary. Haha. Least Favorite? Zubat is my least favorite poison-type. This Pokémon gets in my way on every step whenever I'm in a cave. I had to spend a lot of money on repels just because of them. xD I don't like Tentacool too much, either. They could be pretty annoying whenever you're out in the sea. |
Welcome, Haze!
I totally agree with everything you said there, in fact, one day I plan to have a huge Poison Type party. :3 Okay, I'll sign you up with Gengar, I sincerely hope you are a huge asset to the club! :D |
I forgot about Tentacool. I used to love that thing's cry, I can still hear it in my head. And speaking of, I also really liked that old Pokémon episode "Tentacool and Tenatcruel". The whole idea of a giant Tentacruel was pretty cool, not to mention that one crazy lady. It also proved that Pokémon sizes seem to be relative, even though the giant Tentacruel's size was induced by something I no longer remember.
I haven't seen the anime in years, but I remember it being really bland in comparison when I stopped watching mid Hoenn. Did the show ever go back to season one animesque silliness or is the show still taking itself too seriously (insomuch that a Pokémon anime can)? If this topic seemed to come from no where, you're right. But then again, are there any active subjects going on right now? Something's better than nothing. |
Which Generation Holds The Best Poison Types?
Gen four,Eat your heart out Nidoking What Is Your Favorite And Why? I really like Crobat, cause he give zubat even more to love! Least Favorite? Muk...Pile of Sludge Who Is Your Favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four Poison Type User? Koga |
Welcome to the team, Emerald! Glad to have you! :D
I agree with most of that, except that Muk bit. He is a timeless classic! You've got to love that pile of sludge! C: Quote:
I really want to watch the anime, I'll get my bro to download it for me around my B-day, get down to the core of da Poison types!! :D Thanks, dbp, I really appreicate your posting. Some people aren't that talkative, but hey, at least we're getting more members and X/Y will introduce some rockin' Toxies. c: |

Probably because you can't throw a rock without hitting one while surfing. Same reason people can't stand Zubat. And yet everyone seemingly likes Crobat. I never knew!
Even I got tired of Tentacool in Sapphire, since that game is nothing but surfing. And it seems hard to keep conversations going in clubs, is something I've noticed, unless that Pokemon/character has enough material on its own to go off of. Say, a club on Gary would at least have a lot of source material to fall back on, and character dissections and what not. Pokemon are a species within a species... possibly within another species. Pokemon don't have complicated stories unless you give it to one, and even then, that story only applies to that one, not the whole. That's the good and bad thing about the series. Pokemon by default are pretty bland save for some iffy things the Pokedex'll tell you, but at least you can take a few of them and make them much more interesting, and people can't really argue against it because it doesn't effect the entire subspecies. I still say it's the only franchise where everyone with active imaginations win. Anyhow, that's why I fall back on "oh yes, I remember XYZ" or post found fan art, except I don't have any worth posting. No wait, lies. Found this yesterday (1st attach). The second picture's just because it's cute. Still, people in Japan don't draw enough of this family. -_- ETA: After having looked at that second pic for a while, I feel like the series could use some more unassuming poison types. Like the aforementioned Tentacool. I tend to think water type before I think poison. Or the much earlier mentioned Bulbasaur. A cute little guy/gal that most people would instantly see as grass. I dunno if I'm the only one that sees the Nido family as something that just is. Maybe others make the poison association, but I'm so used to them at this point they're just rabbit chimera and nothing more. Heck, I forget they're poisonous until I see pictures of people holding one, and I think "isn't that dangerous?" So yeah, more poison types like Tentacool, Bulbasaur, Oddish and Nidoran would be nice. I'm sure they can make some more charming critters that don't seem all that dangerous, like Horsea (who's 100% water, of course). |
Anybody like to use Roserade? I think she's a good Posion Type to fight with, she's been winning alot of PokeShowdown matches~ But i kinda like TentaCruel
|
I'm using Roserade on Pokemon Pearl. An absolute charm to have, no doubt. xD Giga Drain and Leech Seed saved my hide on more then one occasion, like with that gruesome Skunktank... which I despise.... ehehehehehe!
Just kidding, I freaken adore Skunktank, it's just when people spam moves over and over again, then... ugh, I'm not going to go into the details, but yeah. xD |
Roserade is all right. It's got a decent Speed stat, which allows it to outrun many OU Pokémon such as Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Swampert. It has good Sp. Defense, too, which enables it to last quite a few turns when it's facing a special-attacking Pokémon like Espeon or Suicune. This Pokémon has access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes, and these moves poison your opponent and reduce their health by ten to fifteen percent whenever they call out a new Pokémon on the field. Roserade has extremely low Defense stat though, so it can be taken down instantly as soon as a physical move is landed on it. Whenever your opponent has a physical-hitting Pokémon on their side, you have to be very careful with it. d:
I used to have this Pokémon on my team two-three years ago when battling competitively. Nowadays, I just don't use it as much as I used to. xD" |

Hey ya'll. Lucky I found this on Google images, and I wasn't even trying. See attachment.
Sure, I don't pay attention to type very much, but it's fun too see the ones included that I wouldn't really think of as Poison otherwise, like Bellsprout, Roselia, or as mentioned before, Bulbasaur, and even the ghosts. And I gotta say it, the heck is up with Nidorina's forearm? Gah, lrn 2 dra Spoiler:
|
Thank you so much for that picture! It's perfect! ^^
I couldn't resize it, but it isn't too bad, is it? :3 |
That is such an awesome-looking artwork, dbp! I think I'm in love with it, haha. The way that Venasaur is sleeping this picture with Bulbasaur and Ivysaur is extremely cute. I wonder if they're its children? Oh, and the way that Nidoking and Nidoqueen are using their tails to make the heart shape is just simply adorable! I'll post some pictures, too, whenever I get the chance. :)

Looking at it again, all of these poison types tend to be some shade of blue, green or purple. It becomes a little homogenous after a while, which makes Ariados stand out that much more. The series could benefit from more brightly "warning" colored poison Pokémon. Here, have another picture. Probably got this from DA via Google, but I tend to save images and store them without looking back. Therefore, I don't have a source link, but credit definitely goes to Melangetic. Source material aside, I like this one the most of these attachments because I think it's colored the best. It's very vivid and unified. The shading colors also utilize different hues which keeps it from being too flat. The benefits of experimenting with color far outweigh playing it safe. But this isn't the Art and Design subforum, so that's enough for today. |
Oh, well, thank you! I tried that but it didn't work, but that's okay. :3
I totally agree! Those are great pictures, the shading is brilliant and the colors are so captivating. c: |
Here is a new topic!
If you could design a Poison-Type Pokemon, what would it be like? (including name, bio and other). C: |
i would love to join speaking my favorite pokemon is giratina. but where do i sign up?
|
Okay, GoatMan, you are officially signed up. ^^ Okay, Giritina isn't a Poison Type, so I may need something else. But hey, I can make an exception.
Would you like to participate in the current conversation? :D |
Could I redesign one instead? They kinda already made the ones I want.
|
Sure, knock yourself out. ^^ Preferably with a Nidorina. :P
|
Heh, that'd actually be a very dangerous thing to do.
Actually, I think I was thinking about Gulpin when I said that, but I can't recall what I had in mind, so it's gone now. I've got nothing. Doesn't matter, Gulpin's too cool to be changed. Still one of the best 3rd gen designs for that face alone. And that Advanced Generation episode where it grew to Godzilla proportions. So, turns out I've got nothing to add to the new topic. :P What I can say is that it seems like there's a nice selection of poison types to choose from in X and Y ¬ˬ¬ (and by "nice selection" dbp clearly means "the ones he likes the most" from what was seen between the first three generations. Bulbasaur included). So I'm definitely getting the game. Now I just hope it's good, rather than reminding me why I quit in the first place. -_-; Haha, were any new poison types officially announced for X/Y, because I totally wasn't paying attention, eheh. (n_n;)7 |
Oh, I think a few were, like Inkay and such. But it's mostly been released Mega's lately.
Okay, new topic: If you could change one Poison types design, which one would it be and how would it be altered? Discuss! ^^ |
I might make Tentacool look more like Tentacruel in that it's face/head is underneath a cap, but that's all I got for now. Or perhaps I'd make it more jelly like in general. Then again, these aren't animals so I don't know why I should care so much.
|
Haha, well, Tentacool and Tentacruel are seriously under-rated. Sometimes I even forget they're there, haha. xD
Sorry if my posts are a bit short, I just learnt some bad news so I'm distracted. :X |
Sorry to hear that. :( Well I hope it's not devastating. Nevertheless, I wouldn't worry, is anyone even posting regularly besides me?
I'll hold down the fort. :P *looks around* Ugh, this paint job is terrible. Time to make it better. On topic: Uh... Oddish is blue. |
I would change Seviper's design to make him look more threatening! He's a really cool Pokémon at the moment and I love hi to bits but he's just a slow chubby lump of pretty much useless flesh right now - if we could send him to the gym and put him on a diet to make a skinnier, more agile design with a sharper blade on its tail to match I think he'd be much more intimidating (perhaps even enough to warrant a stat change!). Mega Seviper could be the answer to this, but I'm not holding out hope :p
|
There's a mega Seviper now? Aw, dude, spoilers. :(

Oh, I have a favor to ask. Since I'm AFK for a bit and the moddies will try and disable the club, would you post and keep it going? Maybe even be my second in command. ^^ Okay, whatever works. :P |
Going somewhere? Be back quick, koffi~
Hohohoho! I at last show my face! I know you said you wanted two of those little icons (I can't seem to get them to show up here) but just know, that I boldly (see? Coffee reference there) request to have not one, but two Koffing! That would indeed be the best, er, indeed. Moving on; this is our shot! The new Pokemon games just have to have a Poison Legendary Pokemon! Even the new Fairy type got one before the Poison type, can you believe that? We need to have a legendary poison type to boost our poisonous stats and such! I hope they don't screw up on this one, koff~ http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2011/010/4/3/gastly__koffing_and_gengar_by_mepokeyou-d36umo4.png |
Okay, welcome to the team, Coffee! I hope you are a huge asset to the club! ^^
Thanks, I'll try and come on as much as I can. :P I totally agree! WHEN WILL THEIR BE A TOXIC LEGENDARY WHICH POKEMON SNATCHERS WANT TO SNATCH??? xD |
Quote:
Also, my least favorite poison type Pokemon has to be the Rose family. They received far too much attention in my opinion and left every other poison type in the Muk (pun points)! We already had a grass/poison type with Venasaur and Roserade just didn't help the poison type as a whole. If they upgraded Koffing to Poison/Dark, I wouldn't have a problem with it. It'd negate the weaknesses completely! That'd be great. Anyway, does anyone here really like the Rose family? Because I don't, koffi~ |
Quote:
The Rose family, well, they stole the attention, but I cannot hate them. Roserade really helped me in a mind with her Giga Drain, Budew was kind of cute and Roselia was okay in a... not that helpful and bad stats but still good kinda way. xD Well, I like the Rose family, but it's annoying how everything else is put in the dark. But hey, Mega Venusaur might bring up Poison Type popularity. Even though it might just boost Grass Type populiarty, which would be annoying, since everyone loves them and us Toxic people are as you put it, left in the Muk and Grimer. xD (P.S: Keep up the Pokemon puns!) |
Hello, can I join this club?
I'm Magistrum, an artist :) and my all-time fave pokemon is...! Spoiler:
|

Ah, another Crobat lover. There is something about his little face which just makes me smile. :D Awesome! :O That is amazing!! :3 |
Ah I guess Crobat lovers are aplenty in this club lol. Also GAMEFREAKWHERE'SMYMEGACROBAT :P
On to the topic, I guess I'd redesign Garbodor. Even if he's based on trash, I never liked his assymetrical tentacle-hands. |
Moves, koff~
There needs to be a Poison-Type weather move! Fire/Grass types have one, so does Water and Ground/Rock/Steel, and even Ice Types which aren't that common! Acid Rain: Damages all non-Poison Types every turn when out in the field. Lasts five turns. (it would damage Steel types as well) What do you think? I think it would be a welcome addition to the games. They need to add some more weather moves! Ghosts could have an 'eerie' effect where non-Ghost Pokemon would get the 'shivers' and be too terrified to move (think of Generation one Ghosts). And perhaps the Fighting types would get the 'Crowd' whose cheers lower non-Fighting types attack and special attack for as long as the cheering continues, koffi~ |
