Official September CoroCoro Discussion Thread -- Mega Evolutions, New Pokémon, More!

Now that is has been confirmed that what has leaked is from CoroCoro, let's give the rundown, shall we?

Quote:

  • First off are various "Mega" forms of various Pokémon, specifically MegaBlaziken, MegaAbsol, MegaMawile, MegaMewtwo, MegaLucario and MegaAmpharos. They're all called "Mega". MegaMawile is Steel/Fairy-type, as is normal Mawile now. MegaMawile has the ability Huge Power. MegaBlaziken has Speed Boost. MegaLucario has Adaptability. MegaAbsol has the ability Magic Bounce. MegaMewtwo has the ability Insomnia. MegaAmpharos is Electric/Dragon and has the ability Mold Breaker
  • They "evolve" through a process called "Mega Evolution"
  • Pokémon can only Mega Evolve when they are holding a Mega Stone. It's not yet known whether the Mega Stone is one specific item, or a separate one such as the Blazikenite that the event Torchic holds. It also confirms that Mega Evolutions are temporary in battle.
  • Not all Pokémon will have Mega Evolutions. The Master Tower has a connection to Mega Evolutions
  • Mega Evoltuions have stat increases, stating that MegaLucario's Attack is higher. MegaAbsol has increased Attack & Speed
  • Super Training will increase Pokémon's "Kiso" Points. The translation of it indicates that this may be what we call EVs
  • Pre-evolution of Gogoat is called Meekuru (メェークル). It is a Grass-type. It is 0.9m and 31.0kg
We have an Electric/Fairy-type called Dedenne (デデンネ). It is 0.2m and 2.2kg. It is the Antenna Pokémon and has the abilities Pick Up or the new ability Cheek Pouches
  • The Rabbit is a Normal-type called Horubii (ホルビー). It is 0.4m and 5.0kg. It is the Digging Pokémon and also has the abilities Pick Up or Cheek Pouches
  • The Super Training facility is also showcased
  • A new character is shown called Koruni. She is a Gym Leader and holds the key to understanding Mega Evolutions
  • First event for Pokémon X & Y. Torchic to be distributed from October 12th to January 15th. Hold a new item called Blaziken Knight (possibly Blazikenite) and has its Hidden Ability of Speed Boost. Can eventually become MegaBlaziken. It's also mentioned to utilise something called a Mega Stone
  • During the VGC Opening Ceremony, Junichi Masuda revealed a new Mega Pokémon, Mega Kangaskhan. It has the ability Parental Bond that allows its attacks to hit twice in one turn.

So, what do you think about what has been revealed?

Darkrai666 August 8th, 2013 7:11 AM

Typical Nintendo.. First of all when Did Nintendo Declare this? Secondly Isnt that getting too Digimonish? Either ways I guess its going to be pretty good and i suppose you need an Item Like "Mega Stone"?

Xander Olivieri August 8th, 2013 7:11 AM

I don't know if this will be a new form change or literally a new evolution path.

If the latter then Gen 6 has broken 2 traditions, first being Blazekin's line is the first Pokemon Line to get 4 Pokemon evolution branch. Second Mewtwo is the first Legendary to evolve.

Could just be a new Form change, but they are putting a lot of emphasis on evolution in this.

Personally..I'm skeptical as I always am. Impressed, but skeptical.

swift13 August 8th, 2013 7:15 AM

wtf WHY NOT JUST EVOLVE ugh nintendo!! gamefreak!!!

Water Gym Leader August 8th, 2013 7:18 AM

You guys are already talking about this like it's real. No one has given it a 100% legit status. this could be another leak prank. Hopefully it is a prank otherwise I'm done with Pokemon after Gen 6. The "Mega Forms" are totally ridiculous.

pokerex August 8th, 2013 7:19 AM

If this turns out to be true then nobody will ever choose mudkip or treeko in the gen3 remakes

Entermaid August 8th, 2013 7:20 AM

What did I wake-up to?!?!?!

NO version exclusive content, at least from Serebii's analysis. I am calling this fake....I hope so anyway :/

SkyRyder August 8th, 2013 7:24 AM

I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I play Pokemon competitively, and I'm trying to think how greatly this will affect it. MegaMawile having Huge Power, MegaAbsol having Magic Bounce, it's crazy! Oh.. and MegaBlaziken still having Speed Boost.

The more information they show, the more believable it can get. They showed a gym leader who is a specialist on Mega Evolutions, hell there is even an event announced. If this was indeed fake, then I've never seen so much information being fake. Normally the fake leak is only a page long, but this is several pages we're talking about.

I think I've had too much internet today, and I only just woke up an hour ago.

I guess now we see why this is the "scoop of the century"

billyjoseph August 8th, 2013 7:25 AM

This is really disappointing, especially the 3 pokemon released. The whole mega thing is ridiculous.

Perriechu August 8th, 2013 7:26 AM

Serebii updated with a scan of an event Torchic that comes with a new item called Blaziken Knight which is said to be a mega stone. This allows it to eventually become Mega Blaziken.

This is becoming more and more confirmed, oh god.

Jeremy August 8th, 2013 7:27 AM

Well sweeties, here's an article and here's the source. Both not really confirming or denying this to be true.

My opinion: Okay...they look cool. They feel like they should be in a spinoff game then the main series...

I would to make them feel better. Anyway I'm actually liking this idea, they look cool. I doubt anyone could fake this idea, especially with the rabbit, raichu looking pokemon and the other one.

GreyShadow August 8th, 2013 7:29 AM

Serebii also just confirmed an event for getting Torchic that can evolve into MegaBlazeiken. There is no possible way this is fake for a variety of reasons. First of all, who would be crazy enough to come up with an idea like this and release as a fake scan for Pokemon? Also considering Serebii has more scans that are definitely real, I'd go off on a limb and say that the scan for Mega Pokemon is real. This is the biggest news we've gotten since the Fairy type, and I think this surely lives up to the "Scoop of the century" for Pokemon. Also, I can almost guarantee that these 6 Pokemon alone won't be the only ones receiving this treatment.

I really don't understand the hate. Really, every Pokemon fan these days is so closed-minded its disgusting. I agree the name is stupid, but I can see that being changed. Absol looks amazing and the rest look really cool too.

ilias_ August 8th, 2013 7:30 AM

It's now 100% confirmed! I like the new feature. I'm waiting for the official artworks and the official names cause they might not be called "Mega" Pokemon in the English Version.

Darkrai666 August 8th, 2013 7:33 AM

I feel like Choosing either a treeko or mudkip in the Gen 3 remake

miltankRancher August 8th, 2013 7:34 AM

I don't like it. Gen VI suddenly went from "OH YEAH A REVAMP OF THE POKEMON WORLD AWESOME DESIGN AWESOME" to "OH MY- A DIGIMON." I am not a genwunner (I loved generation IV more than other generation) but this is just too much for me. I admit that the designs are good, but the though of having a mega evolution? Oh noes.

Honest August 8th, 2013 7:34 AM

Well, it seems this is all but confirmed.

Don't know how I feel about this, but I doubt this is a direct evolution line. Wasn't it confirmed that Mewtwo had a new form? Cause that's apparently MegaMewtwo. It seems like a neat idea, though.

The Mega prefix sucks though.

Wobbu August 8th, 2013 7:35 AM

I don't mind some of the new MegaPokémon, it's just that their names are so generic... MegaBlaziken, MegaAbsol, MegaLucario? I think GameFreak is trying to convince me to nickname my Pokémon now.

iRyahn August 8th, 2013 7:36 AM

I can't stand it. Very Digimon like, and I can already imagine 'digivolving' into Mega Pokemon with that bracelet.

I mean the questions I have is this:
1. Will every Pokemon get Mega evolution/formes? If not then how is this fair.. everyone will just go for Mega Pokemon.
2. Will this Mega forme/evolution be a huge buff damage wise. Because I don't understand how Blaziken needs to be any stronger. Also will the eviolite work on, for example, Lucario? If so I am totally done.

Jeremy August 8th, 2013 7:36 AM

So the new Mega forms are confirmed. A part of me want me to teach them to know Mega Punch and Mega Kick, sweeties. =p

Eitherway, nifty.

blue August 8th, 2013 7:36 AM

Well I'm sure we'll have the option to use these Pokémon as they are alternate forms, I doubt they will happen through leveling up.

Palkia August 8th, 2013 7:38 AM

Oh please be fake oh please oh please be fake. I'm not a "genwunner", but if this become confirmed, I might mutate into one.

There is an item that goes along with the new Mega Evolutions. in the bit with Torchic Event is says its holding a Mega Stone.

Velvex the Øverlørd August 8th, 2013 7:43 AM

Ruining Absol in one foul swoop... not cool GameFreak. Although we don't know much about "Mega-Evolutions," yet I'm praying they're just alternate forms - either way I'm already not a fan of this move.

connor2224 August 8th, 2013 7:46 AM

Oh god I need more information about this
