The new Bay Trail Atom Processors aren't bad at all. I'm not going to trade in my i7 for one though. But they are more than capable of powering an OS without drawing a lot of power. |

I've really only had any experience with AMD to begin with because as a kid I've never had the opportunity to pick and choose PCs, and AMD is good enough to be workable but their CPUs don't have near as much of a lifetime as Intel's equivalents do. I was cleaning out a work PC for my uncle that was running a Core 2 from 2007 and it was doing better than that E1-1500 from 2011 I mentioned earlier. Personally, I've always been one to pay more for better as far as indispensable tools go particularly. Then again I'm also one to pay more for better with dispensables, disposables, and perishables too, so... I guess I really appreciate quality. I dunno. I also really like NVIDIA, so don't expect me to clamor onto too much of AMD's... anything. ^^; |
I'm still rocking a Surface RT, complete with an ancient-by-mobile-standards NVIDIA Tegra 3!
For some reason, though, that thing still feels fast enough. I wonder if the 2012 Nexus 7 is still feeling fast enough now? |
I'm not sure if I ever mentioned it or not, but I'm now the owner of a Dell Venue 8 Pro. For a manufacturer's install, there's not a whole lot in the way of bloatware on the thing, compared to other manufacturers.

Sorry to change the topic, but I need some advice.
sphericalice.co just expired: do I renew it and buy sphericalice.com too or just stick with .co. It's only like £5 and I can afford it but I dunno if I want to bother with making .co redirect to .com and whatnot, but on the other hand .co is ugly. help bls |
Sometimes it's just easier to not do things when you can get away with it.
I feel crazy wanting a new 32 GB iPod touch even though it's the 2012 model and it hasn't been refreshed for quite a while. It's overdue for one. |

At this point if I desperately want an iPod touch, I'll get a used one or Apple refurbished.
Don't really see the need for one though, especially if you're an iPhone user. Most phones these days can perform a lot better than the touch. |
I suspect even said iPod touches would run games better than a Galaxy S II. Everything just stutters there now.

Guys, I think I have device ADD.
Here's to hoping I can stick to one phone through 2015 |

(Seriously - save up, get something nice, and you'll probably end up having a phone that can stay with you even after it's out of support. Apple iPhones are good at this part.) |

This phone is better than everything. |

But it has pretty decent specs for it's price, amirite?

Due to some unforseen circumstances around Christmas, I became the custodian of my dad's Galaxy Tab 3, which he received completely complimentary from Sprint about a year ago. It's running Android 4.4.2 on stock firmware, and it's pretty nice to use. I'm somewhat experienced with Android devices having used a Galaxy SII from Sprint for a while, but I'm still getting used to all the differences between my old SII's ICS and the Tab 3's KitKat.
I do love the lockscreen widgets in KitKat, though, they're absolutely wonderful. Using DashClock is my particular favorite way to go. Speaking of which, anyone got any good suggestions for Android tablet apps? Preferably ones I don't need root for, but I'm willing to root the tablet if I have to... |
After seeing the Pokemon calendar idea on reddit, I made a website. https://www.pokecalendar.net/
I should note that this is my first every endeavor into php. |

http://zach.jtmal.net/cc/ Essentially, it's a web application that allows you to get detailed current weather for a specified location. This is my nerdy side here: I based it entirely off of The Weather Channel's "Local on the 8s" when creating the elements for it in Photoshop and coding it. The logo is just there for comparison sake, and the application has no affiliation to the television network at all. The code to generate the image isn't really mine (I got it from when DirecTV provided their TV apps sdk to users), but I did write all of the XML-parsing code. I also wrote several conversion algorithms such as the conversion of Weather Underground's clock system being in 24-hour time to 12-hour time, and also convert wind from miles per hour to kilometers per hour for the Celsius option, since Weather Underground doesn't provide metric wind information. |
Don't get me started about PHP. There's a guy on #bulbagarden running and IRC bot with it and my mind is blown as to why he's not using Python smh >_>
There needs to be something better than PHP and ASP for dynamic web development. JavaScript has its limitations, and you don't always want source disclosure, either. Speaking of source disclosure I'm really bothered by the GPL's "liberty or die" clause that basically forces similar "free" licensing with your software with whatever you include with it. I don't mind someone making a buck off of a cool DLL and I don't want to have to play lawyer with my program writing an informal license to do that and still force other liberties with my program too. :\ |
