I like hitmonchan and prefer it more than hitmonlee.
Hitmonlee. Personally, I think he is stronger because of his attack and speed. If done right, his Hi Jump Kick could be murder!
I'd say Hitmonlee is probably a generally better Pokemon. However, I like Hitmonchan due to Fire Punch, Thunder Punch and Ice Punch. I really like when moves are super effective and I think they really make it fun. (:
The only reason why I like Hitmonchan is the elemental punches.

I was choose the Hitmonchan on blue, but then I feel that sucks.
So after that In Fire Red I choose:Hitmonlee! |
I also used hitmonlee for its Hi jump kick! But its devastating for user too if the opponent uses Dig or Fly!
Yeah dig and fly comes with a weakness of Hitmons. But never mind that ! Its great to play with them though.
i really like hitmonlee. hitmonchan always makes me think its a girl pokemon
At first I always picked Hitmonchan for the elemental punches, however when I learnt that Fire, Ice and Thunder Punch where categorized as 'Special' moves, I began to choose Hitmonlee in future playthroughs.
In future Gens though Hitmonchan would prove much more useful with his elemental punches. |
Hitmonchan, because I thought punching was cooler than kicking, also I thought he looked cooler (my 7 year old mindset lol)

Bruce Lee doesn't do Taek Won Do, he does Jeet Kune Do, and Jackie Chan doesn't do boxing either (He knows it but he's not really a boxer like the professionals. Jackie Chan knows a whole variety of martial arts anyway.)...dunno why people keep saying they're inspired by them. Also Hitmonchan because boxing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> taek won do. That said none of them particularly represent their fighting styles properly. You can be a very defensive boxer, but also an offensive one, but the one thing all boxers (should) share in common is their speed because footwork is the one most important aspect of boxing. Yet Chan is slow, the hell? And Taek Won Do isn't particularly powerful at all, but it's versatile....from what little I did anyway. |
I'd go with Hitmonchan I like the way it looks a lot more then Hitmonlee.
As a kid, I always picked Hitmonchan because OMG ELEMENTAL PUNCHES!!!
...Then, I grew up and realized that those attacks were special in Gen III, thus, Hitmonchan would be crap at using them, so I started picking Hitmonlee from then on. |
Always Hitmonlee.
Hitmonchan has more varied moveset, but Hitmonlee's power is too great to overlook. |
I always chose Hitmonlee because Bruce Lee. And I liked it's design a lot better than Hitmonchan's.
Hitmonlee, because of Bruce Lee, I have watched a lot of Bruce Lee back in my days.
Hitmonlee ! the best choose ever ^ ^
Hitmonlee. Offense is much better that defense, and in this case that means Himonchan<Hitmonlee
I usually go with Hitmonchan. Although the elemental punches don't favor his attack stat, they make him more appealing to me. That, and I like his design while I'm not a huge fan of Hitmonlee design-wise.
Hitmonlee all the way!! I love how his main way of attacking is kicks. He also has a better attack stat, and since the elemental punches are still considered Special in the 3rd gen, Hitmonchan is not as appealing as it could be!
On most cases, I would pick Hitmonchan, then on other situations it would be Hitmonlee.
I actually never actively used either in my main playthroughs - even though it was pretty sweet to be given a Level 25 Pokémon potentially before earning the 4th badge. It's probably a good thing I never did use them, really - I never thought of the fact that the Elemental Punches would've been considered Special attacks back then, and so would've been preeeeeeeeeeeeetty frustrating for them not to've been nearly as effective as they should've been!
Hitmonchan was my usual choice since I liked his design but in the third gen there wasn't yet a physical/special split so his punches weren't the best. Nowadays I go with Hitmonlee - it does the trick a wee bit better in FR/LG.
I really like Hitmonlee to be honest. Hitmonchan has a better move-pool but I always loved the Muay Tai pokemon. I really hope one day he can learn blaze kick in the newer games. But back in my Red and Firered days I loved the heck out of Hitmonchan. Although he was always replaced by Heracross or Primeape lol
Hitmonchan I like his move set more.
I like Hitmonchan a lot more than Hitmonlee.
I usually go with Hitmonchan since I kinda like it more than Hitmonlee- Not sure what is it about Hitmonlee that I don't like though. Maybe the design? I love elemental punches on Hitmonchan though.
