Shiny Flabébé

Apparently a shiny Flabébé was spotted at Gamescom! What do you guys think? Do you like it? Do you think it's color wasn't altered enough? Discuss!

Sirfetch’d August 23rd, 2013 6:13 PM

Its really hard to tell from that picture and it doesn't appear to have changed much, however I still love it~!

Hikamaru August 23rd, 2013 6:17 PM

I don't see much of a color difference at all, looks like the regular one to me. But I still love how cute Flabebe is anyway!

MarinoKadame August 23rd, 2013 7:02 PM

You sure it's shiny ? Because I looked and it seems nothing have change except maybe the petals but it could be because of the screen.

It's shiny because of the sparkly stars emitting from it, but yeah it hasn't really changed at all :(

MarquisPhantom August 23rd, 2013 7:07 PM

If one looks carefully then one will see that the green coloring on the bottom of Flabébé is purple in it's shiny form.

PlatinumDude August 23rd, 2013 7:12 PM

For a second, I thought that Flabebe suffered from shiny Garchomp syndrome, when its shiny form almost looks the same as its regular form, but after seeing its purple bottom, I stand corrected. That person sure is lucky.

Sirfetch’d August 23rd, 2013 7:15 PM

Ohh I see the purple now. I still wish that there was a bit more of a change, but this little guy is cute regardless :3

I was thinking the same thing, but I seem to have trouble seeing the purple there. At least it avoided being Shiny Garchomp 2.0.

Edit: It looks like the purple is under its white body, my bad.

I think this is a better image of it.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire August 23rd, 2013 9:35 PM

It's not so easy to spot at first lol, but that purple looks nice on it :).

Dillon_68 August 23rd, 2013 9:59 PM

Of course the flower's not gonna change colors, it's not a part of the Pokemon.

I knew that, but when I first saw the image I thought Flabebe was suffering "Shiny Garchomp syndrome" by having shiny colors almost identical to normal colors, but yeah that purple part (green on non-shiny) under its white body can be easily missed.

Also, on another note I came across an image of what could be Chespin's shiny form:

If one noticed, Chespin's tail looks like it's tipped with purple as opposed to the usual orange and it's a bit darker in color. The Fennekin in the same image isn't shiny though. Credit goes to Tumblr for that image.

Flabébé's Pokédex Entry on the Official Website:

"Another newly discovered Fairy-type Pokémon, Flabébé clings to a flower early on, and then cares for it for its entire life. Because of this, Flabébé may be found holding flowers of different colors."

Suspicious that they didn't capitalize on this dex entry to change the flower's color, right? But take a look at Deerling, Shellos, or their evolutions' Shiny Sprites. Their shinies are hardly different at all, despite having vastly different forms.

Fear not, everyone. This just means that it's more likely that they plan to capitalize on this dex entry by actually giving Flabébé different forms. :t187:

Anyone who's paid attention to any of the 649 shinies from the previous games will know that a pokemon's body parts that are the same colors will be palette-swapped into the same color. (Good examples would be looking at Reshiram and Terrakion's eyes.)

This is good news to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the maximum number of colours that a pokemon sprite could have was 16. Now that Gamefreak is using 3D models, it means they can be more creative with the color combinations they give to a shiny pokemon. :)

((In other words, it must really suck to come across a shiny in the demo, yet not be able to keep it. :P ))

Chespin looks like a low quality picture. The white ends of the pokeballs are fairly bluish purple, and Fennekin has many shades of pink in it rather than oranges or yellows. If that is Chespin's shiny color, that's very disappointing.

There is also an alternate colored Gogoat at the 2 minute mark here. Another boring shiny. 8( I guess the starry animation is cute, haha.

metalhand August 23rd, 2013 11:27 PM

those shinies really disappointing...
hope to see more unique shinies such as haxorus, weavile and charizard.

blue August 24th, 2013 1:45 AM

Well it is a small Pokémon so there isn't all that much they can change, although the purple looks good on it tbh.

Nakala Pri August 24th, 2013 1:56 AM

I cannot tell the difference at all. Different... flower? Face? Hands? I have no freaken idea. xD

ilias_ August 24th, 2013 2:33 AM

Flabebe is a cutie. Okay its shiny form is not that obvious but okay, I don't think I will run into a shiny Flabebe anyway lol Also, Gogoat's shiny form is interesting tho. I think I want one shiny Gogoat :( oops haha

From what I understand Flabebe is going to come in quite a variety, to show that they have attached to different flowers.

Oshamaru August 24th, 2013 6:22 AM

It seems that it also has blue eyes...I wonder how many Shiny Pokemon will be found in other demos.

Savant August 24th, 2013 6:31 AM

Flabebe is adorable as is, so I'm not digging the purple below. I'd be happy if the flowers changed color though, like something akin to Spinda's spots changing.

MarquisPhantom August 24th, 2013 7:01 AM

Well, it is said that Flabébé will have flowers of different colors found in the game.

GeckoPutt August 24th, 2013 9:59 AM

I am disappoint, son.

I was expecting Shiny Flabébé to have more of an altered colouration. Not that I will probably be affected. I've only ever found 2 shinies in my 13 years of playing these game.

Seapeekay August 24th, 2013 10:54 AM

Looks almost the same as the original.

serious question

how do you prounounce that pokemons name ? :L
