I sculpted the original out of Super Sculpey and then molded and cast him into resin. I then cleaned, primed and painted him. It was a lot of hard work.

Pikachuie August 24th, 2013 11:04 PM

Nice! I love pikachu and your Sculpture makes pikachu more cute

Tsurera August 25th, 2013 3:27 PM

Thanks, I know he's not an exact replica of a standard Pikachu. I wanted to put some of my style in it. =D

Forest Grovyle August 25th, 2013 3:55 PM

Wow, looks great! Love how smooth he is - looks like it could be sold in shops as official Pokémon merchandise :)

Oh man thanks for that. I'm really trying to make good quality sculptures, so I appreciate that.

Kotone August 25th, 2013 5:16 PM

that's amazing. the sculpture is so smooth.
i have to comment on the side of his head though, it is a little disproportional.
i hope you make more pokemon sculptures.

Thanks, can you please elaborate on the head issue?

In the second picture his head looks more like shaped in than in the first one on the right side. Like the left and right sides just don't look symmetrical. But it is very smooth and the pear-head makes it look cuter :3.

Oh see what you mean but it's all different angles. He's fairly symmetrical (not 100% but enough I think), his left arm is raised and touching his face, so it wouldn't make sense if it didn't affect his face a little.

Here's some pics I took right now. I couldn't quite get the angles to match (While taking the pics), but I figured it's close enough.

If you still think it's off that's okay, it's good for me to know.

ChipmunkGamingInc. August 26th, 2013 5:04 AM

Holy wowz, how long did that take you?!? I could never dream of doing something that awesome!! And it does look a little un-symmetrical on the right side of the head from the front veiw, but that's probably just because you can see his right ear's base, and not the left.

Tsurera August 26th, 2013 6:18 AM

Took me a few weeks, but I worked on it when I felt like it xD

Fairy August 27th, 2013 9:03 AM

Very impressive. The detail you got on such a small model is really great. Out of curiosity, what material is it made of? It looks too textural to be polymer and it looks too soft to be clay (but that could just be my computer).

What Pokemon is next for you? :)

Tsurera August 27th, 2013 9:24 AM

Thanks. I sculpted the original out of polymer clay. I then molded and cast it into resin.

Next thing I'm working on right now is a Moogle (From Final Fantasy) Not sure what Pokemon I'd want to do next.

*Riolu Master* August 27th, 2013 11:30 AM

Yeah the Pikachu does look a little chubby, but that's amazing! I can't even draw a pikachu! Please do more!

Satoshi Ookami August 28th, 2013 9:23 AM

Holly... wow! o.O This is really well done.
I especially like the face. You must have really dedicated yourself to this work :)

Nakala Pri August 29th, 2013 1:22 AM

That is an excellent sculpture! It must have took a lot of patience to get it so perfect! Keep it up! ^^

FraxureGames August 30th, 2013 9:38 PM

I love the detail around the mouth and nose. The paint job is really clean too! All in all, this is a really professional piece.

Thank you very much!

As a side note, if anyone has an idea for a Pokemon to sculpt feel free to let me know.
My only suggestion is something on the popular side =3

FraxureGames August 30th, 2013 9:52 PM

Well if you're looking for suggestions, I'd love to see a Skitty. I feel like that would be a fun sculpture to have.

Orifiel August 30th, 2013 9:53 PM

Looking good, well done! Now that is art!
Interesting indeed. Are you planning to make more sculpture like this?

MrBananaMan212 August 30th, 2013 10:10 PM

Wow that is amazing! Looks like you could sell it as official merchendice!

Linkman806 September 6th, 2013 10:03 PM

That is an incredible sculpture i love it!

Sliter September 18th, 2013 8:48 PM

Nice styling you did there! I Liked the result! His face make he look funny and cute at the same time xD

Arcanine x September 20th, 2013 1:02 PM

Hey there, here's a link to my commission info- http://tsurera.deviantart.com/journal/Commissions-Updated-Open-226718472

Thanks everyone for the kind words, I appreciate it.

Patrick September 25th, 2013 7:52 AM

I wouldn't worry about it being symmetrical. Nothing in life that's organic is. Symmetry is streamlined, but it's also uninteresting. You don't look at a computer monitor and go "wow! That's amazing!" but you may say that about a seashell.

Point is, don't sweat the small stuff. The sculpture looks great as it is, and really high quality at that. You should be paid for that kind of thing only if you want to be. I won't burden you, though. I'd rather let you do what you do for the sheer fun of doing it.

Shattered September 25th, 2013 8:01 AM

Do you do commission? Because I'd be interested in a Sableye, seriously...

Eevee September 25th, 2013 12:01 PM

Whoa! See this is why I'd love to start making things out of clay! It's so smooth and large o: looks official but at the same time has your style into it. ^^
Very nice! I'd LOVE to see more :3

If you're looking for suggestions, perhaps you could try Eevee?

Thanks, I appreciate that. I know it's not 100% perfect symmetrical, but my thinking was along the same line of yours =)
Ideally I'd love to get some steady pay out of sculpting. Commissions and a few side projects are what I do right now, but it's all good =D

Keep up all the suggestions, I love to hear them!

Fairy Tale~ October 4th, 2013 5:14 PM

Thanks =)
I used normal Acrylics. Let's see, I used Americana and Folk Art Acrylics. I used whatever paintbrushes worked for what I needed, nothing special. I just bought a cheap bulk pack at Jo-Ann Fabrics (an art store) a long time ago, I use those. I used a matte spray top coat to seal it.

Also thank you to everyone commenting, sorry I don't respond but I don't want to clog up the post with tons of thanking. Just know it's appreciated =)

ChaoTachi October 26th, 2013 10:43 PM

Oh god, look at it's fat cute face. If only I had the faction of talent you have q_q

Cool I will try my hand at some of my own. Won't look anywhere near as good as yours though!

Raikou October 28th, 2013 10:49 AM

Oh gosh, that's so adorable!! It's very professional looking, too. :D

Sinjuda October 31st, 2013 11:08 AM

This is very well made. The smile is defiantly my favorite aspect of it. Keep up the good work!! Did you just create it from your mind or did you have some sort of sketch?

Pilkie October 31st, 2013 11:26 AM

This looks amazing. I love how smooth and professional this looks.

Thanks. I just used a bunch of reference, and chose a position that was typical for Pikachu to be in =)

blue November 1st, 2013 7:41 AM

Now that looks awesome, great work! You've painted it to perfection pretty much. ;D

Dexter Morgan November 1st, 2013 9:00 AM

it look's great! i like the expression on his eyes :3

BadPokemon November 8th, 2013 4:16 PM

Thats AMAZING!!!! I have no artistic skills, and I'm amazed at the sculpture. It looks very cool and well done!

Fairy November 9th, 2013 12:35 PM

So, Tsurera, what Pokemon is next for you? Any new projects in the works? :)

Oh man, I still haven't decided. I'm a first gen Pokemon gal so i was thinking maybe just doing the first gen starters (charmander, bulbasaur, squirtle) but everyone has done them. So I'm not sure.

Right now I have some commissions to work on, so it'll give me some time to think. =)

Treecko November 9th, 2013 1:42 PM

Woah, this is very well done .It looks as if it could be real merchandise! The face structure is a bit off but like dbp said it doesn't have to be perfect and perfect symmetry is just odd looking and feels unrealistic in some cases. I'd love to see more of your work someday so keep posting these and keep updating!
