I always buy the cartridge so that is what I am going to do.

franko94 August 31st, 2013 9:42 AM

What I'm doing (and I'm not sure how many others can do it) is going on release day to get my copy. Yes, I am making that risk. The reason is that I live in a (reasonably) large city and I can get to BestBuy, GameStop, Walmart, Target etc. pretty easily by bus when I decide to wake up. The pre-order bonuses being offered now don't really entice me enough to pre-order and I don't have a large enough memory card to download the game(s).

EJ Nero August 31st, 2013 10:12 AM

I'm not pre-ordering as I may not have a 3DS until sometime in October after release. I won't buy X on eShop either because Pokemon is one of the few games I like to own physical copies for.

From this forum, as well as the Amazon forums, it seems like most people will either recieve their pre-orders on the release date or 1-2 days afterward. However, there are a handful of people who also receive orders significantly late, such as yourself. Though, it might be the shipping differences of US and UK, my Amazon orders (not from other Amazon users) have always been done through UPS and arrives when on time, so that might boost my chances so long as that is the expected date of arrival. I was just not certain if the expected arrival date is on the date of release for pre-orders. Though, if the manufacturer or delivery service doesn't come through, I wouldn't be horribly upset. I guess I should be prepared for the chance that the order could arrive later than the 12th.

I recently pre-ordered from Amazon (my first time pre-ordering) and hope that they arrive on the release date too. However it did say that it may arrive on the 17...so I should be prepared...however if it is late I can at least look at the starter evolutions online and see if I like Fennekin's...

I preordered X from GameStop. I don't want to download from the eShop. I love physical copies of games. I like to smell them and perform rituals. But anyway, I probably won't preorder Y. I only preordered X because my friend works there and it helps him out, so yeah. I'll just buy Y in store on release day, if my funds are sufficient. If not, I'll still have X to tide me over, so no biggie.

Magykx September 2nd, 2013 12:57 PM

Going to pre-order the physical copy. Eshop does seem most convenient but the filesize is pretty big and also I like having the box/booklets ;3

toxictwinkie September 3rd, 2013 1:46 AM

Be careful with pre-ordering on amazon, as I read on reddit that since pokemon X/Y are being released on a Saturday that they won't ship on that day as its not a business day. They said the earliest amazon can ship out the pre-order is a Monday as that's business day. Here is the link

http://www.reddit.com/r/pokemon/comments/1kggm3/a_warning_for_those_of_you_wanting_to_or_have/ - warning for those who are/is preordered on amazon

Hope this helps :)

How much will Pokemon X cost on eShop?

I have a question, how much will Pokemon X (or Y separately) will cost on eShop?

It might cost more than 40£, for example? because in most of the sites the game doesn't cost more thab 40£ usually.

Precious Tears September 26th, 2013 9:04 AM

Mostly retail prices and eshop prices are the same or the latter being cheaper.
There's a section just like the quote below from the index page of PC.
You may use it as reference. ;)
Quote:

Preorder at Play-Asia.com: Pokémon X (Japanese) - Pokémon Y (Japanese) Preorder at GameStop.com: Pokemon X (US - English) and Pokemon Y (US - English)

Xander Olivieri September 26th, 2013 9:34 AM

The games will cost the same retail price as they do on the shelves at a store. So if the games are 40£ on the shelf of your local gaming store, it'll be that price on the eShop.

I believe all the American ones are $39.99 on the eShop. Nintendo themselves control the price so there really isn't much chance of it appearing lower than the price they set without some kinda special promotion going on. This is how its conducted here though. I don't know how the market works in other countries.

So essentially, store retail and eShop download will cost the same.

Aeroblast September 26th, 2013 9:41 AM

It'll probably be $39.99, however it could change in the future.

Guy September 26th, 2013 9:54 AM

As has been said by the above posters, the price for the games on eShop will likely be the same as their retail price in stores. While there isn't much else to say about that, I'm going to go ahead and merge your thread into the "Pre-order or eShop?" discussion since it's not far off-topic there. Plus I'm sure the thread could use a little love right now.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire September 26th, 2013 10:02 AM

In Amazon it's a few cents cheaper but like by 3...other than that it's the same practically everywhere.

Typhon September 26th, 2013 10:09 AM

I've already pre-ordered Y. I don't see a point in getting it from the E-Shop, since if you reset your 3DS, you kinda lose your game. And if you pre-order it, you can sometimes get it for a cheaper price. I don't really see you why people get retail games on E-Shop, but I can say that it's good if you frequently lose games. :)

Thanks for the answers!

But I have another question. Will the games be available on 12th Octocer on eShop in the U.S time? I mean, it might be added at 13:00 PM NY time, but in Europe/Asia at a different hour?

Because for example 13:00 in East U.S is 19:00 in central Europe. So it's a bit late in Europe. I think it should be released in Europe's morning hour.

I've been wondering the same thing to...maybe all the e-shops will be updated and those of us in US will be able to download on the 11th as it'll be the 12th in the rest of the world...or until it stricks 12 am in New York for the whole of the US. I'm pretty sure though that Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa (is it going to be released here?) will be able to get it as soon as the clock strikes Midnight or give or take an hour or two.

FireOfExile September 26th, 2013 10:52 AM

I'll hopefully be preordering it. I don't think the E-Shop will instantly update the second the game is released, and because I want this to finally be the game that I can beat my friend in (even though he always transfers his higher levels) I'm going to try to get it as early as possible, even if it means a few minutes earlier.

I remember Fire Emblem Awakening did...well there's a game coming out soon for the E-shop. I'll check if it comes out on time to see if there's a pattern to it or not...
Edit: I double checked and I did get that game on the 3rd while it's official date was the 4th of February...so it seems those of us in West Coast may have same update times as the East coast.

Drunken Shinobi September 26th, 2013 11:12 AM

I pre-ordered from a different content continent, so waiting a few days is a given...
I might buy a Z game, if they'll make it, through E-shop.

Haliya September 26th, 2013 11:32 AM

I have pre-ordered Pokemon X, personally I never use the e-shop because the price is the same in the shop. Have a packaging (and physical copie) is more beautiful than have data on an SD-card.

James169 September 26th, 2013 1:13 PM

I've pre ordered both on amazon, my previous experience with amazon is that all deliveries were on time or early, but none of these were pre orders, just general purchases, hoping if it does come on the 12th it's before 12 because I'm out all day after that and would like to know its there

Dedenne September 26th, 2013 2:43 PM

I'm going to pre-order X sooner or later, but I better hurry up lol. :)

Boilurn September 26th, 2013 9:04 PM

E-Shop for me, or maybe it's just the fact that I don't have a 3DS yet? I don't know what's the better option really, although I'm certain that the price will go down when you E-buy it five years later or so.

I wouldnt trust it just yet. I did some reading and google searches and some people did not get a game they pre-ordered until Monday. Remember Delivery Trucks on a lot of companies don't work on Saturday or Sundays because most post offices don't work on those days. Who knows. I was going to pre-order from Amazon but then I'm at College and the post office here is closed on Saturday.. So i went to my closest Walmart.

You wont have to worry about that! Haha In japan our Saturday morning is their Saturday Night going into Sunday. And you know them. Expect the starters finals to be shown Friday night XD

CoffeeDrink September 27th, 2013 10:52 AM

I think you should get the physical copy of the game, koff~

Something like that is the best. You can hold it, move it, read the manual and sell it off (I don't think I'll ever do that) so if you lose your passwords and such, you still have it, koffi~
