NU Entry Hazard Team
Basically I wanted to create a team that takes advantage of entry hazards, but I figured that the idea was probably not viable in higher tiers. I'm looking for ways to make this work better as this is really my first attempt at this sort of thing.
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/213.png Shuckle @Leftovers Ability: Sturdy Nature: Careful Evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD -Stealth Rock http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/545.png Scolipede @Black Sludge Ability: Swarm Nature: Jolly Evs: 248 HP / 36 Atk / 56 Def / 168 Spe -Megahorn http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/154.png Meganium @Leftovers Ability: Overgrow Nature: Bold Evs: 252 HP / 252 Def/ 4 SDef -Aromatherapy http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/604.png Eelektross @Leftovers Ability: Levitate Nature: Careful Evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SDef -Coil http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/8.png Wartortle @Eviolite Ability: Torrent Nature: Bold Evs: 248 HP / 172 Def / 88 SDef -Surf http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bw/628.png Braviary @Choice Scarf Ability: Defiant Nature: Adamant Evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd -Brave Bird Simply put the idea here is to weaken the opponents team with a long-running stream of entry hazards and switches and then to clean up the leftovers. |
Offensive Spiking Garbodor is outclassed by Scolipede, who's faster and has more coverage options than Garbodor does:
-Spikes -Megahorn -Aqua Tail -Swords Dance/Rock Slide Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: Life Orb/Focus Sash Ability: Swarm or -Spikes -Toxic Spikes -Megahorn -Aqua Tail/Toxic Nature: Jolly EVs: 248 HP/36 Atk/56 Def/168 Spe Item: Black Sludge Ability: Swarm Rapid Spin support is crucial if you don't want Shuckle to get crippled by entry hazards. Its low Speed makes using Rest on time hard. Gigalith is generally the better option because it ACTUALLY possesses an offensive threat once it gets Stealth Rock up: -Stealth Rock -Rock Blast/Stone Edge -Earthquake -Explosion Nature: Adamant EVs: 196 HP/252 Atk/60 Spe Item: Custap Berry Ability: Sturdy Or you can consider Golurk, who not only sets up Stealth Rock, but also spinblocks to keep your hazards on the field: -Stealth Rock -Earthquake -Shadow Punch -Ice Punch Nature: Adamant EVs: 80 HP/252 Atk/176 Spe Item: Leftovers Ability: Iron Fist Braviary doesn't get too many moves that benefit from Sheer Force. A STAB and Sheer Force-boosted Crush Claw is still outdamaged by a simple STAB Return. Also, why are you not using Superpower? It's Braviary's main tool for hitting opposing Rocks and Steels, who currently wall Braviary at the moment: -Return -Brave Bird -Superpower -U-turn Nature: Jolly/Adamant EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe Item: Choice Band/Choice Scarf Ability: Defiant or -Substitute -Bulk Up -Brave Bird -Roost Nature: Careful EVs: 252 HP/192 SDef/64 Spe Item: Leftovers Ability: Defiant Consider using a Rapid Spinner on the team, like Wartortle or Torkoal, as you currently have no way of getting hazards off the field yourself: Wartortle: -Scald -Rapid Spin -Foresight -Toxic/Haze Nature: Bold EVs: 248 HP/172 Def/88 SDef Item: Eviolite Ability: Torrent Torkoal: -Lava Plume -Stealth Rock -Rapid Spin -Yawn Nature: Bold EVs: 248 HP/252 Def/8 SDef Item: Leftovers Ability: Shell Armor or -Shell Smash -Fire Blast -Earth Power/Hidden Power (Grass) -Rapid Spin Nature: Modest/Timid EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe Item: White Herb Ability: Shell Armor |
Hmmm I'll probably get rid of Garbodor in favour of Scolipede then I think that's a given. And now I've actually had some battles with this team it's pretty clear that Scolipede is the better option since Garbodor get's taken out rather easily. I'll go with the Toxic Spikes set though since it has proven quite useful.
Shuckle I'm loathe to part with in all honesty. It was pretty much the reason I won the battles I tried with this team and I haven't had any trouble timing rest just yet (and Encoring a Heal Bell is hilarious), I don't see anything wrong with your Braviary sets, although I think I might miss Rock Slide. I'm not sure which Spinner to go with, nor what to get rid of in favour of including one. Edit: Replaced Magmar with Wartortle, changed Braviery, replaced Garbodor with Scolipede. Will update OP soon. |
Unfortunately, as for how it looks now, I still see errors in your team. None of your Pokemon resist Rock of Psychic-type moves, and with these two types being very popular in NU, sweepers such as Kadabra and Rampardos may be able to pulverize your whole team. Steel-type work perfectly as they resist the combination. There are many of those that can set up Stealth Rock for you, or if you want to go a different route and try a setup sweeper that can outspeed the others you may opt to choose Klang. Bronzor is another interesting choice as it can play the role of a special setup sweeper.
Here's what I'm thinking if you want a Steel-type to partner with your Shuckle. You don't have to choose both of them if you don't want to. Klang ~ Shift Gear ~ Gear Grind ~ Rest ~ Sleep Talk Item: Eviolite Ability: Clear Body Nature: Impish/Adamant Bronzor ~ Calm Mind ~ Flash Cannon ~ Rest ~ Sleep Talk Item: Eviolite Ability: Levitate Nature: Bold |
The issue is where to put them. Any suggestions for what to get rid of?
It's a work in progress, but I'm hoping once the kinks are worked out I'll be set. |
