Pokémon Yellow. Gold & Silver were actually out when I bought it, but I preferred having Pikachu walking behind me to the vibrant colors and plenty more pokémon of G/S. Regretted it a bit afterwards, especially since Johto could have been my very first region <3 But also somehow it felt good to start with a gen I game.
Pokémon Ruby. It was Christmas of 2003 and I was just 11 years old at the time. It was also the first GBA game I ever got along with my GameBoy Advance SP, Silver. Suffice to say, it was one of the best Christmases ever!
FireRed was the first game I played. I borrowed it from a friend. Diamond was the first game I owned. They were both really good games, in my opinion. :D
I started with Pokemon Red. Squirtle was my starter and i had no idea what withdraw and deposit meant. I thought i couldn't get him back out and ended up releasing my starter. Tears were shed :(
Pokemon Gold, back in 2000. I'd of owned the R/B/Y series earlier had I known Pokemon was a game series to begin with; since I was already big on the anime and TCG.
Blue was my first one.
I actually got Pokemon Project Studio: Blue next. It doesn't seem like a lot of people picked those up. Honestly, I still have the CD around here. I never missed a generation, by the way. Even as I grew older, I'd pick up a copy of each Gen (though I kept that fact to myself sometimes). The only one where I didn't pick from the two main ones was Platinum instead of Diamond or Pearl. I also got one version of each of the remake pairs when those came out. Since then,. I have filled out my collection a little bit by finding the versions I hadn't chosen. Ebay is the easy way, but I prefer going to physical stores while I still can. Sometimes I give up and use the internet though. |
Pokemon Red and Blue were my first games. So I was around when it first began. I was still in high school when Red and Blue debuted. I spent my entire summer vacation playing Red with the Nintendo player's guide that I actually got for free from Nintendo Power.
And now here I am playing X and Y to death. |
Pokemon Red was my first then after beating it moved on to my sisters yellow then gasped in awe a couple of years later while playing silver of a 10$ pokemon blue a store was trying to give away so i snatched that right up.
Pokemon Blue. It was about '99, Yellow was out. I think the reason my brother let me start a new game on his Blue was because he got Yellow.
Pokemon Gold is and will always be my favourite Pokemon game. c:
Pokemon Blue Version received on Day 1 of Pokemon in America. My brother had Red as well. It is my start. Squirtle was my first Pokemon and my brother chose Charmander. Ever since until Gen 5 we picked the same Type of starter.
Pokémon Ruby about four years ago. I had wanted to play a Pokémon game earlier but hadn't been allowed to purchase things online before then.
(And my parents understandably didn't want to buy me a whole new game console for the games when I was a kid - I already had a Playstation 2 and could use our computer.) I don't know why I picked Ruby though. I guess something just clicked. |
It was Pokémon Pearl, and I was 9 when I got it. Back then, it was the best game I had gotten EVER. I'm 14 now, and I own at least one game from every Gen :') I have Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Emerald, Pearl, Black, White 2 and X.
A broken copy of crystal i was young and put in 12 hr into it with a friend then saved and turned it off... all of it was gone...
then is was blue>red>gold>pearl>Heartgold>soulsilvler>white>Dimond>White 2>X>Y |
I was in 5th grade. I got both Red and Blue versions. I started the blue first. Haha, I had NO idea what I was doing. Picked Charmander, only raised him. At one point in the game Charizard was like level 60 something, and my next highest leveled Pokémon was a Pidgey at level 17!! So I have been playing Pokémon for 17 years!!! :)

Listen, well this is a pretty crazy story...
When the anime started airing in Lithuania (around 2005) I was 7. None of my friends were following it as much as me and my best friend were. I was dreaming of a pokemon game, at the time i had no idea that such thing existed, since video games weren't a thing back then, so guess what i did.. I made my own pokemon game. XD SOMEHOW i managed to download myself a gen I and II offline pokedex, i also found the list of all anime episodes, so for every episode i would randomly choose a pokemon in that pokedex, and battle/catch it while acting the battle using my hands... It gets worse... Somehow i found a bag of thrown away circly thingies with pokemon pics on them, i took it home, remeber some of them were wet so i dried them, and used them to act the battles instead of my hands.. a year or 2 later my friend sent me an emulator with pkmn ruby destiny(i didn't know it was a hack at the time) and still am very grateful that he did that. Later i found more about emulators and got in to Nintendo. And the first OFFICIAL pokemon game I played was Yellow, since some douche in Yahoo! Answers inaccurately answered "What is the first pokemon game?" Later i beat the rest of the games excluding Silver,HeartGold,Black,Black2. So that's the story, hope it's not too boring to read :D |
My first pokemon game was Blue, I think. I wound up getting all of the versions up until Gen 3, where I never got Emerald nor did I own Platinum or any of the remakes, at least not until very recently.
my first game was red while my older brother had blue, but i honestly don't remember anything from back then lol. the first game i remember playing was gold.
My first game was Firered, but I ended up playing Sapphire soon after I got it. Sapphire was my first completed game.
Fire Red and Leaf Green were my first pokemon game :D
Pokemon Crystal was my first game. I think it was a great one to start with. Ruby and Sapphire were going to be released shortly after I got it. Good times...
Pokémon Red. Still have it.
I got Blue and Red for Christmas, soon after they came out I think?
I remember my brother got Yellow for his birthday, and I wanted to play it so much that my parents must have assumed I would want the other two. Not entirely sure why they got me both, but they did. Blue was my preferred one mind. |
Been playing since I purchased Pokemon Red, the day it came out! I went to the store, seen the cover with Charizard on it, and begged my mom to buy it for me. Luckily she did, or I may have never started Pokemon!
Pokemon Red. I was a kid when it came out (1998 feels like forever ago!). This was before the show had even been released and the concept was very new. I had a Game Boy with only one game at the time. I saw the picture of this cool dragon looking creature in Toys R Us once. Asked my parents to get it for me and I've been hooked ever since.
I've replayed the game so many times during the years, even after the new gens came out...there's just a wonderful charm about playing it in its first iteration when everything was still so new. Only game that ever topped it for me was Gold :) |
Im with Adventure on pkmn Yellow. I saved my money and got it, and gosh did i love it. I went on to by red and blue, g/s/c, r/s/e, and everything inbetween.
My first game wasn't one of the older ones (at least I don't think it is XD). My first as far as I know was Pearl. I think in the past I wasn't all too interested. I don't really know how I got Pearl or why I got it. XD But it's the oldest Pokemon game I have in my possession at the moment.
Woo team Fire Red! I got Fire Red as my first Pokemon game. My extended family and I are close so about 4 of us (my cousins included) got the game and our competitive kid instincts kicked in. We were hooked and have never looked back.
Because I loved Fire Red so much as my "original" Pokemon game I once got into a heated argument about how it came befor ruby and sapphire... :/ lucky it all blew over and I have some great friends haha but we really do connect powerfully with our first Pokemon experience!! |
Maybe Blue, or Silver? Honestly, I can never remember. But, I say this, because I played these games at around the same time. I'm sorry! (T.T) I was younger then! I didn't even know what pokemon was! I just played with my charmander, and cyndaquil! Trained and had fun.
Pokemon Red. I have owned everyone since then. Haven't played diamond and pearl as much though.
My first game was pokemon white with snivy as my starter
My first Pokémon game and first game in general was Blue. My older sister had owned it and a couple of other games including a Pokémon spin off and a purple Gameboy Colour before she gave them all to me. It's a shame my GBC started crashing. And it had lasted for 14 years when my first DS only lasted for 3. I've been playing Pokémon since I was 3 and don't intend of stopping even after Pokémon has reached its end. :)
my first ever pokemon game was pokemon crystal it was good at the time ohhh memories
Pokemon Red. Aaah nostalgia. I still have the cartridge.
Blue, and I have my cartridge as well :) It still has 149 Pokedex entries, and that's probably how it shall remain :'(
It was Pokemon Red, my save file got deleted though...
My first Pokemon game was Pearl/Diamond. I couldn't get many of the older games because I didn't have a Gameboy, and I wasn't really interested in Pokemon at that point in time.
My first Pokémon game was FireRed, which I got in first grade (at the age of 6). But, I stole another kid's game, and my mother made me give the kid my FireRed since I lost the one I stole. Two years later I got Emerald at the age of 8, and when I was 10 I traded another FireRed for a friend's Ruby, which I considered my second official game when I realized I started a collection out of those games. When I was 8 1/2 I convinced my mother to buy me Sapphire from Wal-Mart, which I promptly lost. :/
That Ruby is the only game I haven't replaced, although I do own a second copy of Ruby since my sister has a profile on the first one. What a trip down memory lane that was~ :3 |
I guess I'll be the first "old one" (haha) to post here and say that Pokémon R/B/Y were my first games and I've played all of the main games after and even a few side games like XD and the Mystery Dungeons.
Pokemon Emerald was my first game. Later on I tried playing with Pokemon Yellow and Silver version. Pokemon Silver kept deleting itself, I don't know why.
First game was a pirated Red version. In Japanese. I got stuck in the Cinnabar Mansion.
Pokemon LeafGreen. But unfortunately I didn't really know what to do in the game, and I was stuck after beating Brock. My second game was Emerald, but I'd like to consider that as my first game since I actually made progress (but I never beat it).
My first pokemon game is Blue.
I did'nt know what is pokemon, and i decided to download it.So then i like it, but it's too out of date now.Thats all. |
My firt pokemon game is emerald. It was the best birthfay gift ever when I was around 7 yrs. old.:)
My very first Pokemon Game was Yellow for the GBC :)
One of the greatest Birthday Gifts ive ever received |
Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition.
:] |
Pokemon Yellow was the first version I owned.
I got it for my 7th birthday from my Aunt. She had bought me both a gameboy color and a copy of the Yellow version, since I was always over at her house playing with my older cousin's Pokemon Red version. I was really happy. Although it took me a while to understand the concept and I never actually beat yellow because Gary's jolteon destroy my whole team every single time. But I've been faithful to ever gen since. Yellow> Crystal> Sapphire> Diamon/Pearl> White> Black2> X/Y |
Yellow was my first video game ever.
I had actually never heard of pokemon. Then, as a kid my parents gave me Diamond. I loved it!
My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Silver, loved it!
Pokemon red version, The battery was loose btw
My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Pearl. Diamond and Pearl came out the summer before I was in fourth grade, and for the whole year so far I had begged my parents to get me a DS and a copy of the game. Every year my family would go up to Connecticut to visit my cousins for Thanksgiving. Since we wouldn't get to see them around Christmas time, we had our Christmas together the day after Thanksgiving. My grandma got me a DS and a copy of Pokemon Pearl. I played that game for the whole entire day, and for the whole three hour car ride home. I still play that game today, six years later.
My first pokemon game was Pokemon Ruby i still have it today and play it when I'm bored. But i also use it to migrate my pokemon team to my Soul silver after i defeated the elite four.
Pokemon fire red first game i ever played to my bro gave it to me and i would not get off it proudest moment was getting a lv100 charizard :)
My first pokemon game was a semi translated pokemon gold rom from japanese to english.I played it using an outdated emulator called symgb or something like that
I can't recall if it was Pokémon Blue or Pokémon Pinball :D
My first Pokemon game (and one of my first video games for that matter) was Yellow when I was like 7 or something. Got that first, then did Red/Blue.
My first was Crystal, which I got in 2003 when I was eight along with my Game Boy Advance. (It actually came with the GBA; everyone seems very surprised when I tell them that.) Oddly, at first I actually didn't spend that much time on the game, since I couldn't even get to Violet City for an embarrassingly long time and as a result I was too frustrated to play much. (I didn't realize you were supposed to go back up the way you'd come after talking to Professor Elm the second time and the trainers battling would no longer be there; I figured there was a secret path or something I hadn't found.)
Eventually I did figure it out, and then I beat the game rather quickly and got LeafGreen, Sapphire, and Colosseum within a few months of one another. |
My very first Pokemon game was the original Pokemon Pinball. It was also my first video game.
Pokemon Blue. I got it from my brother. I played it for literally years. Great game. Oh, and I started with Squirtle, although now I'm more of a Bulbasaur person.
Pokemon Emerald, I believe.
Those were the days, when everything had a certain mysterious tone to it. No walkthroughs or faqs or bulbapedia. |

My first Pokémon game was Yellow, which I got for Christmas 1999. I was kind of reluctant to even try it out when I first saw it upon unwrapping the wrapping paper, but, once I loaded it and started a game, I was hooked almost instantly. (Figures, since I was told upon being given that present that I would like that game.)
I didn't played any game but a hack was my first game and thats Ash gray.
my first game is Pokemon Red :)
My first Pokemon game was version Red :)
My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Yellow. I don't remember why or how I got it, I just remember seeing Pikachu following me around and loving it. Since then, ha, I've become quite the fan of Pokemon. I had no clue Pikachu was the mascot back then, so he's held a special place in my "Pokemon I most love" list since. I liked him before it was cool!
my first was blue :) i was 9 years old. i still have that blue version and it still works too!
My first was Sapphire when I was about 5. I remember I couldn't even get out of Littleroot Town, but that didn't stop me from playing for ages. It took me two years to beat the game.
The first game I played was Pokemon Stadium at my friend's house. My first game I personally owned though was Sapphire. I got it for Christmas the when I was about 7 years old. Took me awhile to figure things out. In fact, I had to restart the game 5 time because I didn't know how to save. Once I did figure it out though, I was hooked. I Played over 300 hours on it and I kinda became the Pokemon Guru at my school. I was like an expert-for-hire. They would give me their game and I would get something for them (Like Flygons or Salamences). In return, I got a bunch of different stuff such as cash, Pokemon figures/cards, and other stuff. One time, I got a free Pokemon Emerald from this one girl because her older brother didn't play it anymore. I still have both games to this day and I play them every now and then when I get bored and laugh at the names my 7-10 self gave to some of my Pokemon.
First game was Pokemon Red. It was actually a gift for my birthday. I remember I first played the game, I played it for hoooours. <3 It was the best gift ever back then. :3

My first Pokemon game was Yellow. I was about 8 years old and I didn't even know there existed Pokemon video games, but because I watched the anime all the time my parents thought to buy me a Gameboy Color and a copy of Pokemon Yellow (I guess it was the only one they actually recognised as a Pokemon game because of Pikachu on the cover).
Brock was quite hard to beat, even though I had grinded my Pikachu to ridiculously high levels. After I had already beaten the game, a friend of mine told me that Brock is easier to beat if you have a Nidoran. So, on my second playthrough, I caught both a male and a female Nidoran and I ended up going through the whole game with just a Nidoking and a Nidoqueen, while poor Pikachu was rotting away in the PC box. |
My first Pokémon game was Gold, and it was gifted to me I think at Christmas by my mother. At the time I received my copy, my brother was still into Pokémon, and he got Silver version. I remember the both of us lying next to each other on our living room floor starting our games together as well.
My first pokemon game was red rescue, that started my love for dem spin-off games :P
My first pokemon game that i actrually played was pokemon gold on the pc using an emulator called SymsGB.The first pokemon game i actually bought was a pirated pokemon fire red ! regardless of it being pirated i loved the game and it continued to save for at least 3 years :O.Good days :P
Does Pokemon Stadium count? XD If not, then Pokemon X is officially my first traditional Pokemon game ;___; It's quite sad. They were all on handhelds that I never owned so I never got the chance to play them D:
Ruby.
I loved that game. |
Leaf Green. Ironically my first game in Pokemon is the remake of the first Generation XD.
Blue was my first. And I got it when it first came out! Gosh, I'm old >>

My first game was Yellow. I stole it from a friend and told him that our other friend threw it in the sewer. However, I got Red shortly after.
My first was Gold, but I started it well after the GBA came out. After I was finished with it I traded it to a friend for FireRed which I still have.
The Original Red when it first came out in the US.
Red's my favorite color and I like dragons. Plus my brother got Blue, so it worked out well for both of us! |
Firered was the first for me.
Red was my first game. Second was Pokémon Stadium for the N64.
i ended up borrowing a diamond version from a friend and had it for a couple years. he took it back sadly, but its for that reason that i have a kind of an attachment to the fourth gen, even though most people don't like it, but, you know, haters gonna hate. my starter was piplup and i got pretty far in dex even though i couldn't trade
My first game was actually the pokemon stadium games, but then I got a GBC and got emerald
Mine was Diamond & Pearl on DS since I didn't own a Gameboy Advance, I owned a Gameboy Micro :(
I don't currently have any Pokemon games, but on my birthday, my first one may be Pokemon X and Y.

I was elementary. I borrowed a Pokemon FireRed from a friend, a kind of, loan trading where we switch cartridges for a while. I had a Megaman Battle Network 6 Gregar and a classmate offered to switch games. He let me have a test run and I was satisfied with it. I traded with him at the end of the day and I was hooked on the game. Eventually I bought my own first Pokemon game and It was Pokemon LeafGreen and I began playing that one as well. Eventually we returned our games. I didn't realize at that time that it would change my interests forever and I am grateful for him to have let me experience it at a bright age. |
Technically my first game was Pokémon Emerald that I played with my GBA. I used to play Pokémon Yellow and Pokémon Gold too, but it was borrowed from my cousin, so these two doesn't count.
