I just finished playing through most of the game. I think the one thing that I found was that it was cheese-able. I caught the 40 Houndoom watchdog and that made up for a massive level gap I was otherwise facing.
There are also a few events that can go out of order. It took me forever to find the Steelix event because the maps aren't helpful (any chance you're working on them?) and by the time I did, he already had Moltres (via the other event). Really great concept and I loved the playthrough. I just wish the wilds flowed a bit better, level wise, and that there were more wilds available. I wasn't very interested by a lot of the pokes I saw early. |

What do you mean by 'the maps aren't helpful'? Do you mean direction-wise? There's a sign in every route that tells you exactly where you are and where your surrounding areas are, I don't know how else I could improve it =/ the maps are being completely re-done but it's mainly a graphical update. I guess the level design fails come into the wilds thing too lol, but the Pokémon at the start of even the canon games were never particularly interesting. Plus some of it is kind of intentional in a way since you can get a pseudo-legendary at the start of the game =P I tried to make the wild types as varied as possible, like around the Jita Village surrounding area you can find fire, steel, electric, water and grass types for variety. Or did you mean something else? Any suggestions on how to improve any of the negatives are welcome =) |

RE: Level curve - When I got to Houndoom I think I was in the early 30s. Wilds were all in the low 10s (where I could find 'em). It's tough because the game isn't linear and I don't know if it's possible to use in-game events to modify the wilds in each area (i.e. complete a level 20 event, wilds bump up in areas you know we'll still be going through for other events), but that would be neat. Otherwise perhaps we need -some- more linear progression outside of the gyms (in terms of wilds - i.e. all events up through projected level 30 are in a few towns, the next 10 levels of events are in a few other towns). Again, not sure what's possible, but you have a GREAT foundation in place for something awesome and unique if it is. By maps, I mean the map in the Pokemon center (town map). I had a tough time remembering where stuff was. Getting fly was massive in helping me progress through the game. The signs in the routes were definitely helpful, but the "Town Map" didn't resemble directions of where towns/routes were, for me, much at all. As for wilds, I guess I immediately didn't use my Deino. Besides that, I had a Venonat, a bug that was useless (level 9 caterpie means missing butterfree's level 10 moves, same for the other worm->fly bugs, though i suppose there were level 7 bugs... no harden!), a Rattata, a Skitty, a Zubat, Phanpy, Electrike (cool! but didn't make my team in the end), Gilgar (took him to 25 before his moveset was too useless to continue). I love the Vs. Seeker but didn't find myself using it as much as I needed to (if I wanted to level Porygon or Skrelp, who were both 10+ levels behind when I got them). My team ended up: Absol (obtained at 40, level 42), Houndoom (obtained 40, level 42), Entei (obtained 50, level 52), Whiscash (Woo! I liked raising Barboach all the way to 42), Venusaur (exp shared all the way to 38, now 40), Azregadon (super squishy till he evolved... mostly exp share). Didn't even fill up box 1. Is any of that helpful feedback for you? Maybe I missed areas I should have hit (I didn't find Iron Hollow until near the end of the game, got my Skarmory, and fly! woo!). |
I guess the problem if we want to make our dream team we have to use gameshark codes. I used them and this allowed me to find something which can be boring for players.
this is the fact if i'm not wrong, it's a already-recorded list of pokemon who can use HM. For instance, I got my pidgeot( yes I got my pidgeot! even if we can't in that game!^_^) so I presented him to the office for the HM fly. I was refused... I had to go get a fearow (definitely not the same thing that my pidgeot ^_^) is it something bound to the "hm-license" script or you can make as rule "all bird pokemon"? About the town map , I saw this is not something easy to edit. But we always can make it. my welcome message : "Gym Leader Xanathos used a Full Restore!" lol! Yeah! In Pokemon Mirage of tales it will be possible! =) |
Another quick comment - I think the AI's item use is beautifully designed. Item usage pissed me off, which means they must be doing it right.

Those guys are so freaking smart. To bad my golem just shuts them down ^w^. To bad about the sprite thing Avara either way I am wicked proud of that sprite and i am working on a male counterpart.

No worries I didn't think you were being overly negative or anything, sorry if it sounded that way! I like getting criticism as it helps improve things =P first of all thanks so much for describing everything in such detail, it really helps! Your suggestions for the wild Pokémon levels are brilliant but sadly I wouldn't know how to do it =( I've raised wild levels in the eastern part of the region so hopefully that makes things better a bit. As for the Town Map, that's all because it's still the Fire Red default. Changing the world map is incredibly hard to me and I'm not even good at drawing one, so until some kind soul offers to help me with inserting the right world map, or until I learn it, it's gonna stay all weird =(. All your feedback about your party levels was extremely helpful so thanks a bunch, I'll be going over the level curve thoroughly before the release of Version 3! EDIT: Do you think adding a new thing like the Tripoke Challenge near the beginning of the game would be beneficial? I've thought about it for something to help players grind a bit more at the start, but I wouldn't know how to do it other than just repetitive battling, which can be... well, repetitive =P Quote:
There isn't a way to check Pokémon types with scripting that I know of =(. I'm going to be re-doing the Surf and Fly licenses to allow more Pokémon to be eligible, but you're partially right. The way I wrote the script works by checking for all the eligible Pokémon that I have made it possible for you to have, if that makes any sense at all haha. For your example, since I haven't included Pidgey anywhere in the game (yet), Pidgey and its evolutions will NOT be eligible. I also chose to do it this way so that people couldn't Gameshark their way through =P Quote:
Haha! Glad you like it, it was something that I feel GameFreak never really took advantage of and thought that was a shame =P Quote:

Quote:
So now I've got Pidgey too :p I gave them fearow and the woman at the office said "oh such a great bird pokemon" yeah yeah, you prefer fearow to Pidgeot, lady? you have no taste! xD Oh by the way I got a question for you. After doing many missions for Aries, I talked by mistakes to herman and he hired me as researcher. I stopped to the evee project cause I couldn't find thunder stone which is actually on the last island with Troy's gym. it's a bug or it's absolutely normal that I can be "Seeker", "Researcher" and "Gym Leaders Slayer"? In advance map editor, to map you have to take each piece or you can insert in one shot the entire bulding? =) |
Quote:
Haha! I agree, Pidgeot is definitely better than Fearow, but I just felt like Pidgey is always at the start of every game so I wanted to mix it up a bit. The Registry Office lady just checks for the "regional" flying-types, I'm going to add in more options though as I forgot about Pokemon like Golbat etc =P Yeah I'm going to re-do the Eevee Project and Herman's script, I wrote them way back in the game's early stages and didn't really know what I was doing as much, I'm going to make them separate as I wanted the Eevee project to be open to everyone. You can have as many jobs as you want, the only Careers you can't do at the same time are the Seeker and Crime careers. When I finish the side-careers, you could potentially take up five jobs if you want, or you can take the default of one and take no extras. Up to you =) ________________ EDIT: Have some updated screenshots of the new graphics in the cities! Some maps have been completely re-done and others are just small touches. http://i61.*.com/23ie5ua.pnghttp://i60.*.com/n3q4o8.pnghttp://i57.*.com/2n1djdh.pnghttp://i62.*.com/vmzxx2.pnghttp://i57.*.com/s5hh76.png |
The new screenshots look great. Also I liked the level gap of the Houndoom etc it was a nice challenge. I had already caught the Steelix and a level 46 Haunter in the same cave so I had no problems.
..Anxiously awaiting Version 3 :) |

These are all nitpicks, though, and the screenshots still look very nice! |
Avara it is paying off so much, the tiling looks amazing. I love the fact that we will be able to run multiplue careers. Oh My character will be a god. I just can't wait. ^u^
|
Thanks you Avara for the info =)
|
The log or fence whatever it's called looks odd.
http://i57.*.com/2n1djdh.png Like the palette is messed up. |

Thanks for your support, hopefully the wait won't be too long! =P Quote:
Glad to hear it, I was worried the log cabins might be too dark for their surroundings but I think I've just been looking at them for too long haha. Thanks man and also for all your help beta testing and stuff! =) Quote:
Thank you! I agree with you about the log roof, but not too sure how to fix it... I've just learned how to insert tiles in the most basic of ways so hopefully I'll be able to make it look proper soon. I took your advice on board about the log piles and made them a bit longer, and now they look much nicer, so thanks for pointing that out to me as I'd have totally overlooked it! =) Quote:
You can already run multiple careers if you want to, bar Crime and Seeker. The new side-careers are coming along nice too, just finished the cutscene for when you become a Gym Leader. Thanks so much again for all your support too, it really means a lot =) Quote:
Aww, I meant to sort that ages ago! Yeah I agree the colouring is definitely off. Thanks for reminding me, I'd totally forgotten to do something about the shadow colour, whoops. As I said somewhere above, I'm just starting to get the hang of the graphics hacking world so this probably happened when I swapped a few palettes around or something. |
I love this hack and just wondering why my Ariados isn't part dark type? It's bug/poison. Ariados is my fav bug type and when I heard you changed his typing it made me want him so much more. I would be owning with faint attack even more! Also make a banner so I can put in my signature!!
|
I think you should put the physical/special split, it would be awesome.
|
i am not finding a way to reach ekureba city there is no water path from burn valley and no water path from lethean city

____________________________________________________________________________ Please keep in mind guys that the world-map in-game is still the default FireRed one, and so it really doesn't match up to my region's layout at all. Sorry for the inconvenience but I have tried to edit it multiple times and just can't get it to work - so try not to get too confused by the worldmap for now! =P Also, I thought I'd try and keep this for a surprise at first, but I think I've probably made it fairly obvious throughout the game: there is going to be a second region. SO, the Avlar Championship Tournament will not be the end! But yeah, I was too excited to keep it to myself for any longer, so there it is =) |
[QUOTE=avaramoon;8292382]Go to Heather Hill, he should be around there somewhere =)
