I'm most likely going to have Aurorus. I love its beauty and elegance, and it seems to quite a powerful Pokémon defensively due to its body size. It should be able to take a lot of hits for my team, and buy me enough time to do whatever I need to. Tyrantrum could make a decent attacker, but there's going to be another Pokémon on my team that will fill in this role.

Insanium September 21st, 2013 9:12 PM

Aurorus is my pick for the fossil pokemon on my team. I've been anxiously been awaiting for a move or ability that has ice an advantage over water. Freeze Dry should be fun to use plus Aurorus looks beautiful. I imagine its "wings" will change color in the animations.

Nakala Pri September 21st, 2013 9:19 PM

I think I am going to go for Amaura. I never have an ice-type since I think they're pretty useless, but hey, now it's starting to look like I may have a use for it now. ^^

Tyrunt is cool, but then again, I'm not sure I want him that much... :X

Rengoku September 21st, 2013 9:29 PM

I could not pick when I saw Tyrunt.

But still Aurorus's won me over more with it's Ice typing and look.

Xander Olivieri September 21st, 2013 10:09 PM

By brother called Tyrantrum so I get the icky Ice Dino. Ugh...he gets all the cool things TTwTT

Drunken Shinobi September 21st, 2013 10:24 PM

Since my favorite dinosaur is the Brachiosaurus, I'm going for Amaura, though I do hope to get both through trading (if possible).

Synerjee September 21st, 2013 10:33 PM

I'm going with Aurorus. Its beautiful and docile appearance won me over right from the start. Tyrantus looks really cool and badass though, but nope, my decision is final. Although I'm more with offensive Pokemon rather than defensive, this is going to be an exception.

Why would ANYONE pick Little Foot's mom over Sharptooth? What kind of sense is that?

Choose life, choose the king of dinosaurs. #TeamTyrantrum.

Tyrantrum, such a badass pokemon, there is no way I'm not gonna use it

Palkia September 22nd, 2013 2:44 AM

I'm choosing Amarua as it's evolution actually looks like a coherent thing rather a pile of spikes with a stupid name that sounds like something out of the Muppets.

Plus I don't use a lot of Rock and Ice types at all and that would kill two birds with one stone.

Nolafus September 22nd, 2013 3:01 AM

Definitely going with Tyrunt here. I just love that T-rex design. Not to mention its evolution looks awesome to boot.

blue September 22nd, 2013 3:51 AM

Since there's already a Fossil Pokémon Discussion thread here, I'll go ahead and merge this thread.

Ajin September 22nd, 2013 3:54 AM

Tyrantium, no doubt, I just love that design.

Precious Tears September 22nd, 2013 4:05 AM

Tyrantrum for sure! I don't need a Neopets in my Pokemon party.
But stat wise, history told as that most fossils Pokemon were slow!
Only bird fossils Pokemon were fast so, I'll take Tyrantum but there's no room for him to be part of the party!

jellotime91 September 22nd, 2013 6:02 AM

Aurorus looks awesome! I might even make her a member of my e4 team. Its ability and the Freeze Dry move are so awesome!

LightningrodRhydon September 22nd, 2013 6:31 AM

I am pretty disappointed with aurorus, appearance-wise. But I think it's new ability is really cool and that it will make it a pretty strong pokemon, that's why I'll pick him.

I'm joining the king of the dinosaurs! TeamTyrantrum FTW. Just one thing, there should be a fan club of him!

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire September 22nd, 2013 9:34 AM

I'm want both but I'm going with Aurorus as she's so beautiful...and has a cool (no pun intended) ability.

Monte Blanc September 22nd, 2013 10:41 AM

Amaura for me~

Brother and boyfriend are both getting Tyrunt so I'll end up with an Egg at some point.

From a competitive stand-point, both Fossils could be strong choices. Tyrantrum is basically guaranteed to be a heavy-hitting physical attacker based on design and his ability. Aurorus, I'm not too sure about. It could be a heavy-hitting special attacker, or it could be a more balanced out 'Mon, or a tank...although the possibility of it being a tank with a quadruple weakness to two prominent types is unlikely.

Sukiyomi September 22nd, 2013 11:53 AM

Well from the looks of everythin, seems like Tyrantrum is prett much wanted by many lol. They are both good but i think Ill still side with that tyrant on my team lol.

I honestly just wish they would come out with a third fossil pokemon in one generation like they did aerodactly.

CoffeeDrink September 22nd, 2013 11:58 AM

The jaws of life, koff~

Tyrant is getting my business. We can always trade amongst ourselves, right, koffi~

It may still happen. I highly doubt that they've revealed all the X&Y Pokemon, so a third fossil 'Mon isn't out of the question.

With the exception of the first two generations (1st Gen had three fossils while 2nd Gen didn't have any) the fossils were almost always released in pairs that are usually counterparts of each other. Even 1st Gen had a pair of fossils with similarities to each other, while 4th Gen went the extra mile by making theirs version exclusive. Also, one of the two fossils focuses on defensive stats while the other focuses on offensive stats.

So far, we've had these fossil pairs:

Omanyte and Kabuto (1st Gen)
Anorith and Lileep (3rd Gen)
Cranidos and Shieldon (4th Gen)
Tirtouga and Archen (5th Gen)
Tyrunt and Amaura (6th Gen)

So far, only 2nd Gen hasn't introduced any fossils, but that was due to Kanto being included in G/S/C and so hence there wasn't much need to repeat things. However, the fossils have always been released in pairs since 3rd Gen.

Belldandy September 29th, 2013 3:33 PM

Definitely the best fossil Pokemon to-date. Both are pretty awesome-looking :x but I'll probably go for Aurorus.

Shiarra October 1st, 2013 11:31 AM

Those fossil pokemon are cute.
