Relicanth's Revenge (NU Team)
After being inspired by a conversation, I decided I wanted to try to make a team to help Relicanth reach it's max potential. This is my first attempt at team building, so it's not perfect. Without further ado, here is my newest NU team called Relicanth's Revenge.
Relicanth @ Choice Scarf Trait: Rock Head EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP Jolly Nature - Head Smash - Waterfall - Earthquake - Double-Edge The star of the team. The only thing Relicanth really lacks for a sweep is a not so good speed stat. The choice scarf is there to help that problem and it seems to be working well. Not a lot of people expect it, and that's almost always a good thing. I find that Relicanth lacks some power when it can't use head smash, and it has a lot of counters. The latter, however, is why the rest of the team is here. Metang @ Eviolite Trait: Clear Body EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk Impish Nature - Stealth Rock - Toxic - Earthquake - Meteor Mash My hazards setter and main lead. Metang is here to get rocks on the field and toxic any walls that come along. It has worked well, but I find that Metang, although very durable, really lacks offensive presence. Not to mention once people see Metang, they automatically assume it's the lead, so that doesn't help much. Kangaskhan (F) @ Silk Scarf Trait: Scrappy EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef Adamant Nature - Fake Out - Return - Sucker Punch - Earthquake My priority user and anti-lead. I can switch into just about any not super-effective attack and then strike back hard. A lot of people forget that Kangaskhan gets scrappy, so I spam return a lot. I sometimes lead off with Kangaskhan to counter opponent's leads and try to shut down their beginning game, which seems to be a strength of hers. Musharna @ Leftovers Trait: Synchronize EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk Bold Nature - Calm Mind - Moonlight - Signal Beam - Psychic Musharna is here to counter those pesky fighting types that Relicanth isn't fond of. It's also useful at getting rid of opposing Musharna. I chose a more aggressive set because I like the offensive presence and I'm more of a hyper-offense guy. Raichu @ Life Orb Trait: Lightningrod EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP Timid Nature - Encore - Nasty Plot - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power [Ice] Raichu comes and saves Relicanth from electric attacks that would otherwise spell doom for the ancient fish. I chose HP Ice over Grass Knot because of the occasional dragon type that crosses my path. Raichu has proven a tough pokemon to stop once it either gets a nasty plot up, or encores an opponent into an electric type move. Sawk @ Choice Scarf Trait: Mold Breaker EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef Jolly Nature - Close Combat - Earthquake - Ice Punch - Stone Edge Sawk is here for steel types and just general kicking butt. Sawk is my backup sweeper if Relicanth falls and has proven its spot on the team. I don't think there is a pokemon that is quite as good as eliminating steel types than this guy. There's my team so far. I would like to know what I can do to improve Relicanth's sweeping potential. My record with this team is 7-1, so I know that Relicanth is viable. I have a problem with teams that have more than a couple Earthquake users. I can handle a couple, but my team really struggles to get its momentum. Any and all advice is appreciated. My only wish is that Relicanth stays. I know he's not the best, but I want to prove that it is deadly if used properly. |
