so, what do you think? overly designed or cool? I THINK ITS COOL OK
and do you think venusaur and blastoise will get a Mega X/Y?

Rengoku October 2nd, 2013 3:42 AM

Is this confirmed legit?
If not, please do not mislead others and put it in the speculation thread instead. :/
But if it is legit, omg *___*

Orifiel October 2nd, 2013 3:43 AM

If three types would be there.
More like Ice, fire & Dragon. So, yeah, if this Mega Charizard
doesn't have the dragon type, I'm killing myself too.

bobandbill October 2nd, 2013 3:44 AM

Oh okay this is, uh, interesting.

Charmandar wasn't a shiny in Origins - ergo, that leak earlier was not a shiny. Hum, how's that for coincidence. So what does a shiny mega form look like... @[email protected]?

it is! serebii and bulbapedia all confirmed, and there's sugimori artwork, and red was shown using it in pokemon origins

«Chuckles» October 2nd, 2013 3:45 AM

what, makes no sense, Origins was supposed to be an anime version of Pokemon Red and Blue does this mean there is a way to get this charizard in red and blue?!

I'm guessing Fire/Dragon. Even if it is the same typing as Reshiram, it will at least not be weak to Fairy attacks. And I know how so many wanted Dragon as part of Charizard's type.

Yeah I have to admit this caught me off guard. I wasn't even expecting Red to have a Mega Charizard in the Pokemon Origins series, let alone one with black/blue coloring.

BluuArrowz October 2nd, 2013 3:50 AM

I saw this coming as soon as he got the rock from lavender town. I realized that symbol right away. I just didnt think it would be this form. I was so confused when it came out black and different. I am so glad I chose Pokemon X. =)

It could just be possible that Origins ties in current knowledge of Pokémon, such as the Mega evolutions into the fact, despite it clearly taking place in the storyline of Generation one.

Famon October 2nd, 2013 3:52 AM

swift13 October 2nd, 2013 4:05 AM

raised attack stat

ability: tough claws - raise damage if it makes direct contact

Sukiyomi October 2nd, 2013 4:08 AM

That ability is too boss! and the typing...idk if i even need tyrantrum on my team now!

EDIT: Im only disappointed a little in it's animation. Come on! those wings hardly move! didnt know they were trying to stick a kite on his back.

BeefTaco October 2nd, 2013 4:08 AM

I saw the trailer and it used Fire Blast and I think Flare Blitz? This form is probably gonna be stronger than the Y version. It's Fire/Dragon so its neutral on Fairy.

This also confirms that Pokémon CAN change types during Mega Evolution even if they had two types before.

swift13 October 2nd, 2013 4:13 AM

problem rn: too many fire types to choose from, and dilemma between tyrantrum or mega char X

aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAH

HaphazardAsylum October 2nd, 2013 4:14 AM

i am so glad i decided to pre order pokemon x so far all the version exclusives i prefer are on x including the mega's

Hikamaru October 2nd, 2013 4:19 AM

The official Pokemon site recently updated with Mega Charizard X, which is a Fire/Dragon-type and it gets a new ability called Tough Claws. According to info I read on Tumblr just now, it strengthens physical attacks yet I'm not sure which ones at this stage.

But yeah, I really do have to admit Y has been screwed over as far as version exclusives go so far, barring Yveltal.

Oh, and new trailer featuring Mega Charizard X is here for you to see:

Well at least we have another Dragon-type with no Fairy weakness, even if his type combination already got used before (Reshiram I'm looking at you) and I have to admit I might actually like Charizard more thanks to this new Mega Evolution. The black and blue color scheme really looks top-notch.

HaphazardAsylum October 2nd, 2013 4:24 AM

i don't know if someone has said this but tough claws raises the power of moves that make direct contact

Drunken Shinobi October 2nd, 2013 4:28 AM

WOW! This one totally ruined my day! For G-D sake, why the hell have I pre-ordered Y if X keeps getting the cool stuff? i.e fighting Mewtwo and now a Charizard that more fit to be called "exclusive" than that... "Form" which has no similarities to the game it's been exclusive for!

JP October 2nd, 2013 4:35 AM

I hope more exclusives leak before the release date so that I can make sure that I've pre-ordered a version I'm going to enjoy as much as the other. Right now, I'm utterly disappointed at the Charizard exclusiveness, even though Y gets the better looking Mewtwo (IMO.)

Bluerang1 October 2nd, 2013 4:41 AM

I was getting X anyway but this is just unfair to people who are getting Y. This would have also been a really cool separate Pokemon.

Hikamaru October 2nd, 2013 4:42 AM

Yeah I find it kind of funny that the Mega Charizard forms were released in quite a similar way to Mewtwo's Mega forms. They released one first and then later on the first form revealed turned out to be Y exclusive, with the second Mega form being X exclusive. Also, I love Flare Blitz's new animation as seen in the Mega Charizard X trailer.

BluuArrowz October 2nd, 2013 4:50 AM

Well nintendo saw how much everyone hated X legend and how people loved Y. As soon as pre-orders went up they saw Y fly up. So revenge time they gave us 1 better (2 because i like Mewtwo x better. Its what sold me last week.)

MrDollSteak October 2nd, 2013 4:51 AM

One flaw I see with Megazard X, is that megalutions only seem to happen when you select the option while attacking. I'm not sure how it'll work with switching out, but its Fire/Dragon type may not remove its 4x SR weakness, as each swap it may revert back to standard Fire/Flying Charizard and then receive the damage.

Cerberus87 October 2nd, 2013 4:52 AM

Just what Charizard needed. A huge Attack boost to go with that large Physical movepool, and an ability that boosts most of his attacks even further (Flare Blitz will HURT). He'll be played a lot differently from Charizard Y, and I'm not sure losing Flying type is a good thing because, he's not so much weak to Stealth Rock now, but he became vulnerable to other entry hazards such as Spikes, as well as Earthquake.

While I like the design of Charizard Y more, I only like Charizard X a wee bit less, and he's more suitable to my style of play, so another reason for me to get X version. You Y version folks can keep spermashape Mewtwo and Fire/Flying Charizard to yourselves...

Iceshadow3317 October 2nd, 2013 4:55 AM

WOOHOO!!! Booya I picked the right pokemon game!! To me X is getting all the better pokemon Lol. And I choose to get X when the legendaries came out.

Colress Machine October 2nd, 2013 4:58 AM

Ohhhh. WOW. Charizard looks incredible!!!!!!! I almost regret preordering Y instead of X!!!!

Ah, but remember - mega pokes switch in as their regular forms. So X form is actually still Stealth Rock weak. But no worry about Spikes, and does need to worry about EQ.

You know, I think your theory might be true. I guess that when Xerneas and Yveltal first came out, Yveltal got all the love, and then came the revelation of Clauncher and Skrelp being X and Y exclusive respectively, Clauncher was loved more than Skrelp. Then we got the two Fairy-types, Swirlix and Spritzee which was a mixed bag so no clear winner there. But it was when the Mega Mewtwo X came that definitely showed that X got the better exclusives and this new Mega Charizard is definitely hammering the nail there. Maybe when Game Freak saw all the love Y was getting, they decided to trick them by making X get the more awesome Pokemon.

I may be getting both games, but it looks like my main version will definitely be X.

Arise October 2nd, 2013 5:48 AM

Darn, I prefer Mega Charizard Y's wings and tail, but both versions are pretty awesome. What I really want to know is if my shiny will affect the coloration, but at least I am guaranteed a black Charizard since I'm getting X (I love Xerneas). I wish they'd tell us whether or not Mega Stones are tradeable between games.

Treecko October 2nd, 2013 6:03 AM

Well now I'm definitely getting both. (I honestly hope people realize you can do that. You're not forced to pick on version.) Mega Charizard X is really freaking boss looking! Plus the fact it's Fire/Dragon makes it even cooler than it's Y form. Digging the increase of Attack too. I'm thinking Blatoise and Venusaur are getting X versions and so will all Pokemon with Mega Evolutions. It just adds up too well.

Pinkie-Dawn October 2nd, 2013 6:10 AM

Game Freak must've really payed attention to Charizard's underrated status in competitive battles, so they gave him not one but two benefitial Mega Evolutions for each player's style. Congrats, but I'm still waiting for that Mega Pikachu which I know you're going to promote via Ash's Pikachu.

Not unless you send out Charizard first and switch him back after activating his Mega Evolution.

Pretty different otherwise, but there's something for the table.

Yeah, and it even shares Reshiram's type combination so I see even more ties to those two. Zekrom's color scheme and Reshiram's typing. Very interesting theory you have there I gotta say.

Typhon October 2nd, 2013 6:42 AM

I see that it gains Dragon typing. If the others do get X mega evolutions, they will probably get like an... OP type. Kinda obvious. This kinda made Mega Charizard Y look crap. They have to give Blastoise Water/Steel!

I knew they'd have favoritism towards Charizard here, quite disappointing that Blastoise and Venusaur won't get an alternate Mega Evolution though.

HaphazardAsylum October 2nd, 2013 6:49 AM

i also think the fact that before they revealed the second mega evo it said on mega charizard's info that it mega evolves by a yet unrelevealed stone and neither of the other 2 kanto say that means they probably dont have an alternate mega form

Actor October 2nd, 2013 7:00 AM

This thing baffles me. I think the idea of version exclusive mega evolutions is more of a annoyance than anything else, and while I didn't mind Mega Mewtwo X and Y, I think having charizard get another mega evolution is just overkill.

I liked the original Mega Charizard more and I dislike how the colour of the new mega evo is completely different as It doesn't look like a natural progression.

i think the colour change is to reflect his dragon typing and the blue flames are meant to be hotter

Spinosaurus October 2nd, 2013 7:08 AM

Gains point for remaining chubby (Charizard is fat and should stay fat!)

Loses loads of points for the obnoxious blue flames that never run out on its mouth, the ****** 3D model and having random ass spikes.

Chardx is better than Chardy just for retaining the chubbiness, BUT Team Venusaur is still the best.

You need to remember not everyone can afford both versions and/or finds it OK to waste money just for a few differences. Luckily I've a few friends who'd be willing to trade...

EDIT: Wait, Zard is only 5'7''? Why the hell am I taller than him?

Doesn't really confirm to me that they won't have one just gonna wait to the info is officially revealed. (Wouldn't mind picture or videos for proof) It just makes no sense for them to give the other two the short end of the stick. Oh well, I'll have to wait to see I guess.

Spinosaurus October 2nd, 2013 7:20 AM

Game Freak are pretty biased about Charizard so I bet he's getting special treatment lol. Also betcha not all starters will get a mega.

They seem to be pandering on fan service a bit too much with these megas, if you ask me.

well it sort of does confirm no version exclusives or you get venusaurite venusaurite x and venusaurite y, and the same for blastoise i really dont think they'd do that. edit : i tried seeing if he had ended the stream so i could look through the vod and give you the time stamp to check it out but its still live

Why would they give you three Mega Stones for a Pokemon with only two Mega Evolutions though? Charizard and Mewtwo only have one for X's form and one for their Y form.

Anyone willing to do an avatar bet on whether or not Charizard will be the only starter with two mega evolutions?

No?

No fun.

SnowpointQuincy October 2nd, 2013 7:50 AM

Mega stones are held items? wonder if they can be traded?

Killjoy October 2nd, 2013 7:50 AM

Not sure which one I like more. They're both pretty sweat.

I hope this game has a good amount of non mega pokemon too. With the leakers not posting many new pokemon, I'm hopping the designers didn't fill up their quota with megas

This is actually a big question here as it hasn't been confirmed that we could trade the items.

For all we know Game Freak might take the exclusivity a bit too seriously for this one.

Suicune October 2nd, 2013 7:58 AM

"The standard selection process for Pokémon to be Mega-Evolvable is based on three points: visual looks, popularity and game balance."

I wouldn't be surprised if Charizard were the only Kanto starter to receive two MegaEvolutions by popularity, but I think giving all three of them evolutions would fit the genetics better. I wouldn't mind either way though.

Spinosaurus October 2nd, 2013 8:03 AM

Is that selection process official or is it just purely speculation?

Because it sure as hell isn't helping in the "balance" department.

HaphazardAsylum October 2nd, 2013 8:08 AM

the exp share being a key item you turn on could be useful if lucky eggs are in the game as you may be able to give the pokemon you wanna level the lucky egg and have it sit back and get 1.5 times(assuming it stays the same if it is in the game) the exp it would normally get from the exp share

so if it works it would get 75% instead of the usual 50%

FrozenInfernoZX October 2nd, 2013 8:11 AM

Omg, wow, Charizard X was so unexpected. It came out of like, left field.

Suicune October 2nd, 2013 8:18 AM

I can't link yet, but apparently it was quoted from an interview which mentioned a few of the mechanics like Levitate/Flying Sky Battles and the Exp. Share change a few week(s) back. I found the quotes on Bulbapedia so it may not be 100% legit, but there's also:

"The power-up of Mega-Evolved Pokemon is meant to elevate them to the class of legendary Pokémon, hence the restriction of only one Pokémon being allowed to hold a Mega Stone during battles."

Which would somewhat explain the throw on balance because I was skeptical on that MegaGarchomp too.

EDIT: Oh then again, there is MegaMewtwo.

Eruption October 2nd, 2013 8:22 AM

I'm so glad I've been planning to buy X all this time. Mega Mewtwo X and Charizard X are so much better than the Y versions.

This is the last information I can give myself, I don't want the game spoiled by the leaked copies.

SnowpointQuincy October 2nd, 2013 8:41 AM

I love that Char-X is black, now I don't need to hunt Shinys.

BAD THING- I bread a Special Sweeper Charizard for the Y Mega, but I'm Buying X!!!!
(now I have to breed a Physical Sweeper)

I'm hoping the THIRD Version will have all Megas on one cart.

Hiatus October 2nd, 2013 8:42 AM

Mega Charizard X doesn't look too bad, but I wonder why they've decided to switch up its color to black and blue? I, personally, would've liked it better if they had stuck with its original color scheme—orange and khaki. d:

Mega Charizard X is getting a major boost in its Attack stat, so there's a big possibility that it may end up getting a decrease in some of its other stats. Charizard X seems to be a little heavier than its original form, so I'm expecting its Speed stat to get a reduction. Its Special Attack might get decreased, too. Also, since Charizard's gotten two Mega forms, I think they should give a secondary MegaEvolution to Venasaur and Blastoise as well. If they don't, then that would be a little unfair, in my opinion.

Livewire October 2nd, 2013 8:47 AM

Expect more version specific megas. The cat's out of the bag now.

It's finally Fire/Dragon. Thank the gods. I still prefer Y to X, though, design wise, but that ability is awesome.

I saw posts on Tumblr and literally people have been excited. And its ability is showing that this new Mega Charizard X will be one heck of a powerful attacker. Also, I do agree we could be seeing more version-exclusive Mega Evolutions surfacing.

kevcrash October 2nd, 2013 9:01 AM

Of course all of the cool version exclusives go to X (besides Yveltal). This just further accentuates that, and now I'm doubting that I picked the wrong version...

But, to comment on the new Charizard form,

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD CREATOR OF HEAVEN AND EARTH GAME FREAK YOU HAVE DONE IT YOU HAVE MADE CHARIZARD PERFECT

I seriously never really liked Charizard before, but its mega evolutions are driving me insane like they are so so so cool (both of them, I do like Mega Charizard Y due to its sleak-ness and better aesthetics). I would marry Game Freak if I could.

Spinosaurus October 2nd, 2013 9:07 AM

Random spikes and a blue flaming mustache need to go before anyone calls it a perfect design.

I'm not a fan of the color either...:V I'm just glad they kept him fat.

Troock October 2nd, 2013 9:12 AM

This is freaking weird, I do not understand why GameFreak would do this.

Okay, so all the Kanto starters got a mega-evolution and it is very likely that one Kanto starter will be given out in the beginning of the game ALONG WITH your Kalos starter. Then they'll also give out a free Torchic with a stone that makes it's last evolution INSANELY powerful. And they're giving a pokémon that is considered the strongest one by many (and even though that is not necessarily true, it's still definitely up there) two mega-evolutions and it'll be very likely that they'll give out the item that makes it evolve into one of those forms for free in each game.

That is all pretty much at once, don't you think? But wait, now let's give Charizard a SECOND mega-evolution, which makes it kind of impossible to not give at least one of the remaining Kanto starters a mega-evolution as well.

Don't you guys think that this is too much at once? Wouldn't it be better to save some of this new stuff for a Pokémon Z or something? I personally do think so.

Okay, so all the Kanto starters got a mega-evolution and it is very likely that one Kanto starter will be given out in the beginning of the game ALONG WITH your Kalos starter. Then they'll also give out a free Torchic with a stone that makes it's last evolution INSANELY powerful. you dont get the kanto immediately its after the first gym and if i remember correctly they start at lvl 10 i myself dont think its too much i mean they could give blastoise and venusaur a second mega in z and/or loads of other pokemon that might not get one in x or y

MarinoKadame October 2nd, 2013 9:55 AM

If blastoise and venusaur ever get a second mega later in a giveaway or maybe Z version I guess Blastoise will be Water/Steel and will look more like a tank for venusaur I don't know. But for now it seems all the X exclusive seems to be more Bulky than Y, X seems to be more on Physical attacks and Y more on the special since Mewtwo and Charizard get both a mega that is oriented on Physical moves.

Troock October 2nd, 2013 10:02 AM

After the first gym is still pretty soon in the game though...

Anyway, I just think it would've been better to save some of this for Z. UNLESS of course they add even more stuff like this in Pokémon Z, that would just be incredible. Also, i'm pretty sure that either Blastoise or Venusaur will be given an extra mega-evolution in Pokémon Y, and then the remaining starter will get it in Pokémon Z.

FlamebirdXZ October 2nd, 2013 10:12 AM

Do you guys think you can have 2 mega evolutions in a standard battle? I've been planning to use mega blaziken for sure, but I want to have either charizard x or charizard y on my team too

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire October 2nd, 2013 10:17 AM

Goodness...that Mewtwo looks awesome...I wonder there's going to be a MegaBlastoise Y or X and a Mega Venusaur Y or X too...

Nope, you can't for some strange reason.*

*Balancing which is funny.

Perriechu October 2nd, 2013 10:33 AM

I can say nothing but good things about this. After like idk??? 5 million years we all got the Fire/Dragon typing. Thank god I preordered X!

Noscium October 2nd, 2013 10:34 AM

I'm so happy to choose pokemon X. XD

Astinus October 2nd, 2013 11:23 AM

I'm going to have to get X now, aren't I?

Mega Charizard X is amazing in its design. Black and blue is one of my favorite color combinations (actually blue with any color is a good combination to me). The blue flames are quite neat, since they're eternal and can show that Mega Charizard X is always ready to battle. And it's finally a Dragon type!

Plus Charizard is my favorite starter of all time so of course I'm going to like it.

Eevee October 2nd, 2013 11:35 AM

I think this Charizard is a lot better than Y's. I like the colours. It makes him/her seem more like a Dragon. In fact, he/she's part Dragon now! Finally. xD

But yeah. I definitely like Charizard X.

Spinosaurus October 2nd, 2013 11:46 AM

Am I the only person who always though of Charizard as literally just a winged lizard and not necessarily a dragon? I really don't appreciate the type change.

As much as I love the three gen 1 starters' mega evos they all feel safe and boring to me in a sense. In contrast to Mega Blaziken because having a Muay Thai theme really makes sense and is a very clever idea.

Oshamaru October 2nd, 2013 11:50 AM

Hmm...
It looks cool, but I prefer the Y Mega a bit more. But the blue flames are a nice touch. Its ability is good, but wasn't Charizard a special attacker?

I agree, it does feel like GF played it safe with the Kanto Megastarters...not much change...

TreeKangaroo October 2nd, 2013 12:56 PM

GF, please make Y get a cool mega evolution exclusive. PLEASE?

I like MegaMewtwo Y, so imo there's a already a cool Mega evolution exclusive.

TreeKangaroo October 2nd, 2013 1:00 PM

I hope venusaur gets a cool mega re-design and the first mega evo of venusaur is exclusive to X and the awesome one is exclusive to Y.

But yeah, I really do have to admit Y has been screwed over as far as version exclusives go so far, barring Yveltal.

Oh, and new trailer featuring Mega Charizard X is here for you to see:

im buying x now for mega charizard x and fighter looking mewtwo

Rivvon October 2nd, 2013 3:05 PM

I liked Charizard Y, but WOW this Mega Evolution is AMAZING! I'm so glad to be getting X now!
The only critique I have is that I don't like how the fire in its mouth looks in 3D, but that's such a small qualm considering how great it is otherwise!
I do hope that all starters get this same treatment, though. I don't think it will be overkill, but I do hope you can trade Pokémon that are holding Mega Stones.

macguyver16 October 2nd, 2013 3:25 PM

I'm honestly more excited about seeing Red in the pic. But I pre-ordered X, so this is still pretty cool. #TeamChespin

Gogoat Rocks! October 2nd, 2013 3:38 PM

I would get Pokemon X, but my sister would beat me to a pulp if I asked her. She claimed pokemon X for herself. she's one of those people that thinks she is better and deserves the better game. but still, Mega Charizard X looks amazing!!! It awesome that it is part dragon too!!! :)

Moist October 2nd, 2013 3:51 PM

Please don't tell me that every mega evolution is going to have an X and Y version...

HUF_DBC October 2nd, 2013 3:57 PM

I like this new charizard mega evo, but I still like the Y mega evo better, overall I like the exclusives in Y more than X. I really like mewtwo's Y version mega evo.

Probably not. I think they are just doing it to the really popular one. we will just have to wait and see.

Blaziken, Venusaur and Blastoise are said to not have version exclusives. We got an in game screenshot of Blazikenite and it has no X or Y. The leakers said Venusaurnite doesn't have an X or Y and Kosthedin never posted anything special about his Squirtle so it can be assumed that it doesn't have an XY Variation.

Only Charizard and Mewtwo seem to get two forms.

Aeroblast October 2nd, 2013 4:11 PM

Fire/Dragon Charizard. My life is complete.
