How do you plan to journey through Kalos?

So with the games only six days away (I know.. exciting!), I've been thinking about the way of how I'm going to progress through the game, which lead me to creating this discussion.

How do you plan to progress through the game? Will you take your time, taking in all the new features, towns, characters etc or will have a more speedier approach to the game by skipping out all of the less important features and focusing on the main aspects of the storyline?

For me I will be progressing at a very steady rate, ensuring that I interact with all characters and exploring all the new areas and features Kalos has to offer!

Hikamaru October 6th, 2013 5:19 AM

I mostly plan to look around, take my time exploring and of course catching all the Pokemon I can find!

JP October 6th, 2013 5:24 AM

I will probably pretend to try and play at a steady pace but inevitably speed through it because I have no self control when I play these games.

DelphinusVyse October 6th, 2013 5:27 AM

I also plan on taking my time and making sure I explore the game and talk to everyone so I don't miss anything while also trying to catch as many different Pokemon as possible.

Suicune October 6th, 2013 5:39 AM

I'm likely going to take my time exploring, talking and grinding my team rather than focusing on the story. I've never felt a need to rush with the main games because when I did my Pokémon either end up under-leveled or I miss out on a TM!

I also think most of my time is going to go into Pokémon Amie as I used to love interactive games like Nintendogs. I'm also one who takes a lot of time with customizations and things, but probably won't mind it too much until I start getting some XY friends. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I want the official guide!

Even though I never use the guides, they're still nice to have as collectors items and to see some nice official art, which is why I'm probably going to get it.

This is exactly what I'm thinking, the last (and only) time I bought a guidebook was for Diamond & Pearl back in 2006, and now I'm tempted to get it for XY with the new type being introduced and so forth.

Goomy October 6th, 2013 6:09 AM

I'm going to rush through my first run and then, on a second run I'll play the game more carefully, taking in new details, etc.

Princess Diana October 6th, 2013 6:21 AM

I'll inevitably rush through, then go back and explore as I train up my party.

Zorogami October 6th, 2013 6:22 AM

With all the new features that are going to be introduced, and the simple fact that it's going to be a 3D game(!!) I'll take my time and try to explore every corner there is. I'll also probably catch every pokemon i see, although i normally don't do it. I honestly think I've never been so excited about a game coming out, and i plan on enjoying it to the fullest!! :D

TRGrunt October 6th, 2013 6:24 AM

Yeah I'll probably end up taking my time. I'd like to be able to talk with different people and focus on the story as much as possible.

retinaburn October 6th, 2013 6:26 AM

I think I will play at a pretty thorough/slow pace. I'd like to try and enjoy the game as much as I can for having to wait so long for the release!

Another thing that I really liked in BW was the habitat pokedex feature. This way I can get an idea of if I've completed an area, or if there are still some rare pokemon to catch. Most of the time, I would prefer to have completed a zone before moving on. Plus, this approach builds in some extra grinding/leveling accordingly.

Warship October 6th, 2013 6:45 AM

i'll probably take my time as well. i like talking to people as i go by but i wont super train in-game since i think its something to be done after the main story.

FlyingBeastie October 6th, 2013 6:55 AM

I'm going to take it nice and slow, talk to all the NPCs and try and catch all the Pokemon in each route. I'll probably try out the Super-Training as I've entered an X&Y community tournament on a different forum and we have a month to get our teams to level 50.

mikey October 6th, 2013 6:58 AM

I'm going to go through Kalos very slowly. This is basically the first time we know very little about the region at the time of the release, so I am going to go slow and take it all in! (:

DarkArcanine October 6th, 2013 7:00 AM

In games where there's a lot to learn and collect I always take really good time.. this will be no different. Looking really forward to explore this region!

I've never caught 'em all in a single pokémon game. I'd like to do that in this!

MaoMint October 6th, 2013 7:04 AM

Apart from looking at images of the new Pokémon I tried to keep the spoilers to a minimum.
I hope to take it nice and slow and just take it as it comes! I also hope to have a lot of exchange with my friends thanks to the new "online friend list" add. : )
And I will probably try to catch all kinds of Pokémon species I come across - I haven't done that since ruby!
All in all I haven't been this excited about a new Pokémon game and I have high hopes of getting my old Ruby-feel back!

Jak October 6th, 2013 7:06 AM

I'll be taking my time. These games are coming out at a busy time in my school career, and I can't afford to slip up. So when I do find the time to play the games, I really want to sit back and enjoy them. I will definitely appreciate the free time I get to play the games. Also, I won't be piddling back and forth between X and Y, because I'm going to hold off on getting my copy of Y for a good amount of time, maybe even till Christmas. So because of that, I'll be able to really focus on just one game and not be concerned with making sure both are in the same place, or dealing with hating one team and loving the other, etc.

I plan on going through my first playthroughs of both games with a full team of new Pokemon, which has always been a tradition of mine for new Pokemon games.

Draqonite October 6th, 2013 7:15 AM

Im actually going to take it slow paced..looking at all the new features and taking to all the characters so i dont miss out on anything.

Also am i the only one who is going to EV train my team? I know i am..with the Supertraining mechanic why not?

Kikaito plush October 6th, 2013 7:18 AM

I will try my best to get two towns done everyday so I can space it out, also try evole all the pokemon in each route to final evo before moving on to the next route.

That sounds... tiring! Good luck on pulling it through, though. : ) Just thinking of some of the Pokémon that evovle at relativly high lvls! @[email protected]

You are far stronger than I am. Good luck!

SoulRoach October 6th, 2013 8:24 AM

I plan on taking my time, but knowing me that isn't going to go very well, and I will probably end up speeding through it.I'm impatient like that.

Slaying Moon October 6th, 2013 8:31 AM

I'll most likely train up my team to be very powerful early, then sweep through the rest of the game with Mega Charizard X.

Venitardus October 6th, 2013 8:31 AM

I'm gunna take it slow and train a bunch of pokes as I go along. I want to actually train a lot other then just 6 main pokes. Usually I try to speed it through and train only 5-6 poke's, so I decided to do it differently this time around. Also I'm gunna EV train with the super training thing.

Treecko October 6th, 2013 8:39 AM

I'm gonna take my time and explore everything the game has to offer as much as I can. Talk to every person in each town, try my hardest to catch all of the Pokemon in the Kalos Pokedex and try out the new Pokemon in battle and see how well they fair (but of course have a set team I use frequently). I will also spend a lot of time using features such as Pokemon-Amie, do a bit of customizing my character, try out Mega Evolutions, the Fairy type and anything else new as well.

Firox October 6th, 2013 8:50 AM

I know I'm going to take my time and explore everywhere. I'll talk to every person I see, visit every enterable building. I know I"m going to battle all wild Pokemon. Once I get access to new HM's I'll go back and explore everything I missed.

I know I'll probably have almost 200 hours and only have 3 to 4 badges. With so many new features, I know I'm going to try out pretty much everything I can.

_ANDY_ October 6th, 2013 9:01 AM

I'm sure I'll take it nice and slow. I get super OCD about talking to every person in the game and making sure I don't miss anything.

I.T. October 6th, 2013 9:07 AM

Play at my own pace and make sure I got Leafeon on my team. http://i4.minus.com/ibpu3UfzVydOd6.png

americandreamer October 6th, 2013 10:06 AM

Hello all! My first post here...

This will be the first region that I'm not in a hurry to complete, I want to try and make a really good team. Origins inspired me to actually complete the pokedex.

Yambo October 6th, 2013 3:00 PM

Im gonna take it easy probobly catch all pokemon i can and talk to all the npc for the fun of it . But i think what will make me take my time the most is the player customization wouldnt suprise me if i spent most of my time in the shops trying out styles

Tsutarja October 6th, 2013 3:12 PM

I will definitely try to go through the game rather steady so that I can get through the game in a timely manner but also take some time to explore through the new features as well.

Boilurn October 6th, 2013 4:07 PM

I usually go steady, but every once in a while I might go for the speedy option and just whizz through the game first try, so that the next time I restart there would still be a lot of stuff I haven't discovered yet.

WildEagle October 6th, 2013 7:38 PM

I'm going to take my time playing, for the past generations I been spoiled of knowing how to traverse through the game, this feeling of playing blindly is like playing Pokemon Red all over again.

Getting lost on the Rock Tunnel and etc, man just thinking how getting lost on such a big world like Kalos will bring back memories of Pokemon Red xD

xseed October 6th, 2013 7:42 PM

pokemon is a rpg of course so I am going to be taking my sweet little time absorbing all the nice new 3d graphics, listening to the music(which is AWSOME.) and training my pokemon. and also chatting with every npc I come across. and of course exploring every nook and cranny for those little potions and Tm and ect ect lmao

aGraypanda October 6th, 2013 7:44 PM

Beast Through it with My Magikarp

hypnoticsoul October 6th, 2013 10:44 PM

i plan to take my time with the game so i can explore every little detail, but sometimes when the plot gets a little dialog heavy i find myself unintentionally just mashing through it all. im hoping i can restrain myself from doing so in these games, though.

Sirfetch’d October 6th, 2013 11:09 PM

I am going to take my time and not rush through this game like I have in the past with Pokemon games. I don't want to leave one stone unturned when exploring this beautiful region. I plan to explore every patch of grass, talk to every NPC, and participate in every battle possible to make sure that I don't miss anything. I plan to catch as many Pokemon as possible instead of running from them because I am too lazy to battle them. I can without a doubt say that I will get the most out of these games.

Sabrewulf238 October 6th, 2013 11:50 PM

I'll try taking my time through the game and explore it thoroughly. I'll probably catch more pokemon than usual during the story since there's so many and I'm not certain about my team yet.

Looking forward to checking out all the new WiFi features.

metalhand October 7th, 2013 12:30 AM

Gonna take my time, checking every new feature exploring every part of Kalos and I will try to catch all the new pokemons.

seishiro-san October 7th, 2013 12:36 AM

Like they say slow and steady wins the race, I will take my time through the game. Rushing through it will kill all the time I have spent watching the clock tick as it gets near the release date.

Mithel_Celestia October 7th, 2013 1:13 AM

Im going to cherish the moments and take a little longer to complete the game, maybe catch all the Pokemon I see just for the effort of completing the Pokedex this time :\ . I mean the pokemon bank and transfer isn't going to go out until December and I need my competition pokemon from my previous game in order to compete. Also, I believe the story is going to take a little longer to finish if the Pokedex is divided into three with 150 Pokemon in each.

Decimosoma October 7th, 2013 1:21 AM

I'll probably take my time when it's about discovering new Pokémons. That's always been one of my top priorities with every new generation for some reason it's always exciting for me to discover new Pokémons even if you replay the game many times. I'll move in a slow yet steady pace through the region. This'll be the first time where I actually check out all the cities carefully.

Cerberus87 October 7th, 2013 1:40 AM

Get Chespin.
Train Chespin.
Evolve Chespin.
Get Charmander.
Evolve Charmander.
Rape everything with Mega Charizard.

And... Maybe catch some other stuff along the way.

pokerex October 7th, 2013 3:04 AM

Like everybody else i'm going to take my time and explore as much as i can, And catch every pokemon i see.
But my ultimate goal is to sit on every bench there is

"Gotta sit em' all!" lol
It would be funny if there gonna be an achievment if you sit on all the benches.

this is me exactlyXD
I always plan on finishing the pokedex after I beat the main story-line, but I may just try to catch 'em all before-hand. I'm also planning on nick-naming EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Triforce October 7th, 2013 4:08 AM

I'll be playing at a steady pace myself. I don't like to spend too long in one place but I don't want to miss anything either. And I do plan on catching and training all of my Pokemon more so than I have done previously.

Adryel October 7th, 2013 4:22 AM

Plans on X/Y

what are your plans playing the game?
Speed run then Competitive Battle?
Enjoy the game :D
Collect Every Pokemons?
or Describe it yourself! XD

for me I'm planning to
Enjoy every inch of the game has :D
and after the game is complete I will still enjoy it
play some competitive Pokemon battles although not that serious
Like I will use my favorite Pokemons rather than following in the tier or metagame! :)
and then complete the Pokedex :D

Hikamaru October 7th, 2013 4:23 AM

I'm more of a casual player than a competitive player, so I'd most likely be taking time exploring all of Kalos and catching every Pokemon I see. I love collecting you know.

were quite the same :D
although I might raise pokemon and play it in Pokemon Amie
and might use them for competitive battling
which I suck XD

metalhand October 7th, 2013 4:26 AM

I heard from alot of reviews this games easy, so I think this time I will play on set mode and I will have my own rule that I won't use potions during battle when I fight gym leaders, the elite four and the champion.

Also I will try get all the Kalos pokemons.

blue October 7th, 2013 4:28 AM

Since there's already a thread discussing this topic, I'll go ahead and merge!

Hiatus October 7th, 2013 5:52 AM

I would first try to get through the storyline as quickly as possible. If I take too long, then I may lose track of the story one way or another, and lose my interest in the game. This had happened to me once before while playing Pokémon Black 2, which is the main reason why I was never able to finish the game completely. When I'm finally done with the story, I would start building a solid team for myself and take my time to explore deep down within all the locations, so that I can be familiarized with them. d: Kalos seems to be quite a big region, so it would take me an extremely long time to fully explore its routes, towns, and cities.

RedXavi October 7th, 2013 7:33 AM

I will take my time. Those towns, caves, forests look so beatiful!
That and I won't be able to play a lot since I will have a busy week with exams and papers. :/

Faye Rose~ October 7th, 2013 7:42 AM

As much as I would love to say that I'd take it slow and savor my first playthrough of a new generation, I'll probably break down and just speed through it, beating it in 2 days and then complaining that it's already over lol

Water Gym Leader October 7th, 2013 7:57 AM

In Pokemon X, I'm traveling the coast first to find as many Water Types as I can. In Y, I'm gonna take my time and hunt Pokemon.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire October 7th, 2013 8:13 AM

I'll proably take it in as slowly as did Unova, by training every Pokemon I have to similar levels (I like keeping them at the same level).

Whistler October 7th, 2013 9:40 AM

I heard that the story isn't very good this time around, so I'm gonna make up my own stories as I go.

(Team Flare are now training Pokemon to battle other Pokemon using humans instead, and they're also gonna burn away the evidence after each battle, hence the name Team Flare.) =]

So true! :(

I always tell myself when a new game comes out I'll be playing it steadily. Usually takes me a couple of hours or until the story becomes stale and I start speeding through it.

Superjub October 9th, 2013 5:06 AM

How are YOU going to play?

[Woah, first thread in X/Y, I hope it goes well. :p]

So, how are you going to play through Pokemon X/Y? Are you going to rush through it trying to beat it as fast as possible, or spend ages in a single area trying to uncover all of its secrets? :p Or maybe a balance between the two? I'm kinda curious how people are going to play- I personally will probably spend a long time in each area. :)

KittenKoder October 9th, 2013 5:09 AM

I am an explorer when it comes to maps, and I love to learn about the pokemon themselves. So I will rush to the point needed for wifi access, then it will be a long time after that before I complete the game. Completing the dex is always the part I enjoy most, so no stone shall remain unturned.

Zorogami October 9th, 2013 5:16 AM

SInce these games feel so new already, i´ll probably take more time than usual in each area, maybe even try to catch most of the pokemon before going to the next route/town. i´ll definitely be taking my time :D

Adryel October 9th, 2013 5:18 AM

take time to enjoy the game
specially the new features
complete the pokedex

:D

Hiropyro October 9th, 2013 5:19 AM

I am going to knock the main story out as quickly as possible(up to the first viewing of the credits). Then i will proceed to farm out my 'dream team'. Then do all side content and then start catching all the pokemon.

Zethremar October 9th, 2013 5:19 AM

Well, generally I try to start off taking it nice and slow and making sure that I explore all of the areas, read all the dialogue, and catch Pokemon. But as I get more drawn into the game, and story I tend to rush a bit more than come back later and explore the areas.

PlatinumDude October 9th, 2013 5:38 AM

I'll just take it slow and enjoy the game. Heck, I may stay in any area for extended periods to get good Pokémon with good natures/IVs.

dscottobrien1 October 9th, 2013 6:48 AM

im going to take it slow, and try to complete as much of the 'dex as possible before the E4.

same as ive always done.

blue October 9th, 2013 6:51 AM

Just going to merge this thread with the How do you plan to journey through Kalos thread. (:

Synerjee October 9th, 2013 7:06 AM

I'll go through it like I do with all the other regions. First, I'd get to know a bit more about it by reading articles on the internet such as what sort of Pokemon can be found in each area so that I can plan ahead for what I would want on my team - pick those with favourable stats and avoid those with low ratings. I won't rush through the game but take it slow and steady and enjoy every single bit of it. Explore every area possible, capture all Pokemon I encounter, get every item I can get access to, talk to everyone, battle every trainer, defeat every gym leader and Elite 4 members + champion, and of course, take in all the amazing new features.

hananas59 October 9th, 2013 7:30 AM

I would get from gym to gym and capture every pokémon I would like

Frozthax October 9th, 2013 8:11 AM

I'm gonna be enoying the scenery
But most of al, gonna do a Let's play on youtube, except i wonder how I should do that...
I mean its a big game, just probably the important parts...but i dont know them.
So Ill just keep you all updated then in the discriptions if something happend that i havnt recorded

but yeah, just see, enjoy and stuff^^ gonna be nice

My bad, I should have searched harder. xD Thanks Suicune! ^^

Luka Jurcic October 9th, 2013 9:57 AM

I hope that this will be the first game in which I am going to be able to "catch them all". Therefore I will take my time exploring and not stress through it.

Hacker42r/sT October 11th, 2013 7:56 AM

I have two really young kids. under 2 years. and they are a handful. so i will only be able to play when they are sleeping :(. im hoping to get through at a steady pace and actually be able to play :) never thought id be this excited as an adult for new Pokemon games haha

spike6958 October 11th, 2013 8:16 AM

I've found that for the first time since Gold and Silver, I feel compelled to catch every Pokemon I come across (well every one I've not already caught anyway). It's an interesting way to play, especially now that we earn EXP from just catching a Pokemon now.

Imperator161 October 11th, 2013 7:51 PM

This is something I've been debating for quite some time, and I still haven't made up my mind yet. I normally play through really slowly (to the extent that there are a lot of games where I still haven't beaten the Elite Four/main storyline), but I'm thinking I might try to play through more quickly this time. I don't have a lot of free time, so I might just try to breeze through one game and take the other one more slowly. Even when moving quickly, though, I still tend to talk to everyone I encounter and catch everything I can, so I'm not really sure how it will turn out.

iRyahn October 11th, 2013 7:55 PM

Slow and steady! I want this experience to last as long as possible and to not feel rushed. (What better timing then on a 4day weekend as well! Thanksgiving for Canada)

I will for once try to capture many different Pokemon instead of just my 6 team members like I usually do. I will also be in Amie a ton, as well as EV training my Pokemom to perfection.
