Who's planning on EV training?

I know for a fact that I'm not. I've done it in previous versions and it took the fun out of playing Pokemon. I'm just going to enjoy the game and story. I think Pokemon has become too complex in the training area.

Killjoy October 6th, 2013 6:03 PM

Apparently there's a mini game that can be played to quickly max out the states that you want. I haven't heard anything about this in a while, but I believe it's still true

I've also heard about that. I hope it's true, that would make the game so much easier when it comes to training.

Draqonite October 6th, 2013 6:46 PM

Im definnetly going to ev train all 6 of my pokemon..because its actually alot easier with the Super Training.

DelphinusVyse October 6th, 2013 7:30 PM

Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to try out this new super training.

Since there is Super Training I might actually EV train. I'm glad that they're implementing easier ways of training. I never fully understood the concept of EV training anyway. :)

xseed October 6th, 2013 7:39 PM

I am planning on ev training my pokemon though not during the main story lol. I am ev training my pokemon during the post game. and by pokemon I mean EVERY pokemon I catch lmao. (that reminds me I hope the battle frontier makes a return)

jazneo October 6th, 2013 8:25 PM

it call Super TrainingPokémon gain experience and grow stronger by battling with other Pokémon. In Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, that's not the only way to help your Pokémon grow. Check out a brand-new method of Pokémon training: Super Training!

When EV training was introduced I never really got behind it. I liked that they tried to add another layer to the games for advanced players, but I would simply prefer if they focused more on something like different difficulty modes (not uncommon for RPGs). I understand the need to keep the games accessible for the target audience, but how SICK would a "impossible mode" be! That being said, with this "super training," I have to at least give this a try, though.

Psywing October 6th, 2013 8:55 PM

I'm with xseed. I will EV train as much Pokemon as I can, after I beat the main story :D

Every Pokemon you catch? Are you planning on catching a lot? You must have a lot of free time. haha.

_ANDY_ October 6th, 2013 9:34 PM

I'm going to train and play the game the old school way.

MaoMint October 6th, 2013 9:50 PM

I never used to EV train during the story mode!
And I agree - playing did seem more fun before EV training, haha. : (
But I don't think I will stop doing it - it's fun in it's own right as well! + I'm looking forward to the new mini-games. Infact - thanks to them - i might actually EV train my storymode Pokémon.. at least a bit. : )

I have a shiny Arcanine that's now at level 100. It has an excellent nature, IVs, and Intimidate. However, his EVs must be all over the place. I can't wait to reset those, and then properly set them up

JP October 7th, 2013 9:42 AM

I will once I'm done with the main story.

Has it been confirmed that the Super Training facility is indeed for EV's? I remember reading somewhere that it wasn't a certainty it was EVs for something else?

Zorogami October 7th, 2013 9:46 AM

If super-training does train EVs I'll definitely try it out!! I'm usually too lazy to ev train, and the super-training seems like a fairly easy and fun alternative. Plus, you can do ev training whenever you feel like it, and don't need to hunt for certain pokes!!

classiccartoonsftw October 7th, 2013 9:52 AM

I don't think I'll do EV training. I've tried to do it a couple of times, but it just doesn't work for me.

Princess Diana October 7th, 2013 9:53 AM

No. I've tried in the past but I just can't wrap my head around it...

heck yes I am. I have done this in EVERY friggin.....well actually I started doing this in black and white really. and by ev training I ,mean buying proteins ect, getting the right nature, breeding, getting the right moves. yep. I am that crazy

Tsutarja October 7th, 2013 10:30 AM

I probably won't EV train initially but once I get to breeding or if I get bored along the way then I will most definitely consider EV training.

Tseng October 7th, 2013 12:00 PM

Wait, so what is exactly supertraining? My brother said that it's not EV training. So I do super training on TOP of EV training my pokes? O.O

I wasn't sure at first, but Serebii is making it sound like its indeed for EV's.

Maybe when I'm done, DEFINITLY not while I'm playing through, I try not to even over lvl while i play through for the first time.

Sabrewulf238 October 7th, 2013 2:13 PM

I'll definitely try to give super training a go, especially for team members that are struggling. I'll have to try and have regular training and amie sessions while moving through the game.

I'm not much into the competitive side of things, so my main focus with the training will be to get the most out of my pokemon for the story. (and make sure their defences aren't too flimsy)

Thanks to super training you could probably have a beastly farfetch'd at least for the in-game story. Which is an interesting thought.

Hiatus October 7th, 2013 5:35 PM

I usually don't EV train. The last time I've trained any of my Pokémon for EVs was in Platinum, if I remember correctly. Some people may find EV training to be simple, but to me, it's quite complicated. Plus, it takes you a lot of time, energy, and motivation, which I simply don't have. D:

I don't know if I'll be EV training or not in my Pokémon Y version, but if I do, it'll most likely be when I'm finished with the story and start to build a proper team for myself. Also, if the rumor about Super Training is true and it does, in fact, increase your effort values, then I may do that instead of going through the old-fashioned EV training method—it's such a hassle!
