Except the "Original games" were Red and GREEN

they just changed it to Blue for America, because we're scared of the color green

machomuu January 6th, 2014 11:32 AM

But the original games for us weren't Red and Green, they were Red and Blue. Similarly, the protagonist and rival for the games for us were Red and Blue, respectively. Wouldn't be appealing to our nostalgia if they called him Green.

Welp Flight is cancelled. Trying to rebook my flight tomorrow. On Hold forever.

So, I'm a couple minutes into Nobunagun and...you really have to question the quality of a sub group when they translate "sugoi" as "wowzers"...

EDIT:...and likes like "What the crap is that?"...

@Netto, where were you headed?

Nobunagun was pretty silly, I did enjoy it though. A good season characters loosely based on historical figures in wacky settings.

I'm not sure I could survive it.

...I did live through two seasons of Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon, though.

Ginga Bishounen Oda Nobunaga obtains hot blonde French saint waifu and giant robot. Satelight are saving anime yet again.

machomuu January 6th, 2014 1:33 PM

So, is Nobunaga the Fool good, or...

...I mean, I'll be trying it out, anyway, but I think it's pretty weird how many Oda Nobunaga -based anime have come out in the past year.

Not 'good' but it'll probably be the most fun.

Blonde? Check

Robots? Check

Wild crazy hair? Check

Giant abnormally sized boobs? Check

Skimpy outfit that seems to fall off at the slightest movement? Check

Weeaboo Name January 6th, 2014 2:56 PM

The blonde is a realistic depiction of Joan of Arc.

This is also what Leonardo da Vinci looked like.

Twilight-kun January 6th, 2014 2:57 PM

7

That is TOTALLY what he looks like

history got it wrong

machomuu January 6th, 2014 3:01 PM

8

So was the blue hair because of some disease? Or did he just get blue paint dropped on 'em?

Twilight-kun January 6th, 2014 3:11 PM

9

You'd have to...ah...check a little lower to see if that's his natural color....

machomuu January 6th, 2014 3:16 PM

10

Maybe, but I'm pretty sure they didn't have blue hair dye back then.

...Unless history got that wrong, too.

Pokestick, good times. January 6th, 2014 3:32 PM

What bothers me is that their personalities and quirks don't seem to have anything to do with their historical counterparts. :(

For example, if you're going to make a character based on da Vinci, don't just make a strange loud man with a blue beard and stick his name on it. He could've been anyone. Leonardo da Vinci as a historical figure has so many well-known quirks and attributes that could be worked really well into a setting like this that frankly the character seemingly not using any of them is just a waste of potential.

Twilight-kun January 6th, 2014 4:30 PM

That's anime for you

destroying whatever you once knew

*coughhetaliacough*

Weeaboo Name January 6th, 2014 4:41 PM

13

Things like that never bother me whilst watching or reading alternate history, especially in cases like this where the setting is so detached from reality.

As for their da Vinci we have an eccentric bearded genius, doesn't seem like a bad start to me considering how little he was actually on screen.

machomuu January 6th, 2014 4:44 PM

14

Actually, Hetalia built on things I didn't know, like the whole "America trying to paint Mt.Fuji" thing.

Gotta get back into that show.

Speaking of destroying things, I'm watching a show called Basquash. Mech basketball, basically, and I'm liking it right now. Another successful case of picking an anime randomly from a list and downloading it based on its absurd tags.

Weeaboo Name January 6th, 2014 4:57 PM

15

Think I saw some of that back when it was airing.

Twilight-kun January 6th, 2014 10:24 PM

I wonder how well a live-action Attack on Titan movie would be

If they cut out all the non-essential things, you could easily showcase from the start up until the recapture of Trost
